Senate Republicans Block Nominee for Consumer Protection Agency

Senate Republicans have blocked the nomination of former Ohio attorney
general Richard Cordray as the first head of the new Consumer Financial
Protection Bureau. Obama picked Cordray to head the bureau earlier this
and now says he has not ruled out making a recess appointment.
