AT&T Abandons T-Mobile Merger Plans Amid Intense Scrutiny

In business news, AT&T has abandoned its attempt to merge with T-Mobile
after the $39 billion deal came under intense scrutiny from federal
regulators and public interest groups. The deal would have left the
country with two cellphone companies, AT&T and Verizon, with almost
