Israel President Peres Visits Washington Amid Construction Of Illegal Settlements 
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------



Israeli President Shimon Peres is in Washington today for a meeting at
the White House with President Obama. The meeting comes one day after
Israel announced plans to build 942 new housing units in the Jewish
settlement of Gilo on the outskirts of Jerusalem. The settlements are
seen as illegal under international law.
