43 Killed in Hundreds of U.S. Tornadoes

The death toll from a series of tornadoes that ripped through 14 states
in the South and the Midwest over the weekend has reached 45. In all,
243 tornadoes caused damage from Oklahoma to Virginia beginning last
Thursday. As many as 60 twisters touched down in North Carolina, the
most the state has seen in more than 25 years.
