September 21, 2010 Senate to Take up DADT Repeal, DREAM Act ---------------------------------------- And the Senate is expected to vote today on advancing a military spending bill that includes repealing the ban on openly gay servicemembers known as "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell." Republicans have stalled the bill as part of an effort to maintain the ban. The Senate is also expected to take up a provision that would allow undocumented young people a chance at citizenship called the DREAM Act. Under the measure, immigrant youth could obtain permanent residency with a chance for citizenship, provided they attend college for at least two years or enlist in the military. .
