Obama Admin Seeks Changes to Telecom Surveillance Laws

The New York Times reports the Obama administration plans to ask
Congress next year to approve legislation that requires phone and
broadband carriers to ensure that their networks can be wiretapped by
the government. A similar law is already on the books, but officials say
it has not prevented some of the nation’s major telecommunications
companies from making network changes that disrupt the government’s
ability to conduct wiretaps.
