October 18, 2010 Burma Bars Foreign Observers and Reporters from Election -------------------------------------------------------- The Burmese military junta has announced no foreign election observers or reporters will be allowed into the country to cover the November 7 election, Burma’s first in twenty years. Supporters of jailed opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi have already called for a boycott of the election, which they say will be unfair and undemocratic. Suu Kyi’s party won the 1990 elections, but the military junta refused to recognize the results. .
