November 24, 2010 Study: Anti-AIDS Drug Reduces Risk of HIV Transmission ------------------------------------------------------ A new study published in the New England Journal of Medicine has found that gay men could greatly reduce their chances of becoming infected with HIV if they took a daily dose of anti-retroviral drugs. The study found the drugs reduced the HIV infection rate by nearly 44 percent in high-risk gay and bisexual men. Researchers have described the finding as a major advance in the fight against AIDS because it is the first study to show that taking drugs before infection can reduce the risk of HIV transmission. .
