Chilean Earthquake Slightly Shifted Earth’s Axis

Scientists says the 8.8-magnitude earthquake was so powerful that it
slightly shifted the earth’s axis and shortened the day. NASA scientist
Richard Gross told Bloomberg that the axis about which the earth’s mass
is balanced likely moved by about three inches and that the length of
the day should have gotten shorter by 1.26 microseconds.
