New Drilling Well Approved in Gulf of Mexico

Federal regulators, meanwhile, have approved the first new Gulf of
Mexico oil well since President Obama lifted a temporary ban on
shallow-water drilling last week. On Wednesday, the Minerals Management
Service authorized a permit for Bandon Oil and Gas to drill at a site
about fifty miles off the coast of Louisiana. Environmentalists have
criticized the Obama administration for allowing continued drilling at
shallow-water sites.
