Supreme Court Limits Miranda Rights

The Supreme Court has issued a five-to-four ruling that criminal
suspects must now affirm their intent to remain silent and request a
lawyer in order to avoid having their statements used against them in
court. In a dissent, Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote, "Suspects will be
legally presumed to have waived their rights even if they have given no
clear expression of their intent to do so."
