Mass. Judge Rules Same-Sex Marriage Ban Unconstitutional

A U.S. district judge in Massachusetts has ruled the federal ban on
same-sex marriage is unconstitutional because it interferes with a
state’s right to define marriage. The ruling came in the cases of two
separate challenges to the so-called " Defense of Marriage Act" of 1996.
The ruling applies only to Massachusetts but could have broader
implications if upheld on appeal.
