Air America to Cease Operations, File for Bankruptcy

And the radio network Air America has announced it’s shutting down and
filing for bankruptcy. Launched in 2004, Air America’s on-air
personalities included the MSNBC host Rachel Maddow and Democratic
Senator Al Franken. In a statement, Air America said it’s no longer able
to sustain its 100-affiliate network in the current economic climate.
The network said, “We are proud that Air America’s mission lives on
through the words and actions of so many former radio hosts who are
active today in progressive causes and media nationwide… We should all
be proud of our passionate determination to assure that our nation’s
progressive voice would be heard loud and clear.”
