US Expects 200,000 TPS Applicants

US immigration officials say they expect up to 200,000 undocumented
Haitians to apply for Temporary Protected Status, or TPS. The program
would grant eighteen-month work permits to Haitians who were in the US
when the earthquake struck. Haitian refugees arriving after the
earthquake date will continue to face deportation.
