Maliki: No Extension for U.S. Withdrawal Deadline

In other Iraq news, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is vowing that the
Iraqi government won't extend a deadline for the withdrawal of U.S.
troops in 2011. In his first interview since negotiating an end to
Iraq's long-term parliamentary gridlock, Maliki told the Wall Street
Journal, "This agreement is not subject to extension, not subject to
alteration. It is sealed." Maliki added that the timetable could be
changed if Iraq and the U.S. reach a new Status of Forces Agreement,
which would require parliamentary approval.
