December 15, 2010 Appeals Court Rules Emails Protected by 4th Amendment ----------------------------------------------------- A federal appeals court has ruled that government agents must obtain a warrant in order to seize and search emails in a criminal investigation. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit found that emails are protected under the Fourth Amendment in the Constitution.
