Benjamin Hooks Dies at 85

Meanwhile, in Memphis, another prominent civil rights figure, Benjamin
Hooks, will be buried today following his death last week at the age of
eighty-five. Hooks led the NAACP from 1977 to 1992. He was awarded the
Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, in
2007.
