Justice Dept Invokes State Secrets in Wiretapping Case

The Obama administration has invoked the controversial “state secrets”
privilege in a legal case challenging the government’s warrantless
wiretapping program. The Justice Department is arguing that national
security would be at risk if the case proceeded. In a statement,
Attorney General Eric Holder said, “there is no way for this case to
move forward without jeopardizing ongoing intelligence activities that
we rely upon to protect the safety of the American people.”
