Shell Wins Drilling Permit Off Northwestern Alaska

The oil giant Shell has won approval to begin drilling off Alaska’s
northwest coast. On Monday, the Interior Department approved Shell’s
license for three exploratory wells in the Chukchi Sea. Native and
environmental groups have warned the drilling could chase away sea life
and contaminate the ocean.
