New York Times Threatens to Close Boston Globe

In media news, the New York Times Company is threatening to close the
Boston Globe within thirty days unless the Globe’s unions agree to $20
million in cuts. The concessions would likely involve pay cuts and
ending contributions by the company to employee pension plans. Last
month, the New York Times Company laid off 100 employees and cut
salaries for non-union workers by five percent.
