Lawmakers Call for Special Counsel on Torture

In other news from Washington, Democratic Congress members Jerrold
Nadler of New York and John Conyers of Michigan are calling for the
appointment of a special counsel to investigate and prosecute Bush
administration torture. In a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, the
lawmakers write, “Because the United States is bound by its own laws and
by international treaty, we are obligated to investigate and prosecute
those who have violated the laws against committing torture.”
