US to Expand Afghan Airfield

The Pentagon’s admission has come as the Bush administration has
announced plans to go ahead with a major expansion to a key military
base used as a staging ground for its air strikes around Afghanistan.
The US plans to spend $100 million to add more space to Kandahar
airfield.
