========================= eMACs 3.0 Release Notes ========================= Version 3.0 - March 21, 1992 (c) 1987-1992 by Gertjan J. Noordman (c) 1987 Daniel M. Lawrence for portions of the software (c) 1988 Apple Computer, Inc. for portions of the software eMACs is free for personal use only, and cannot be sold eMACs is written in MPW C and MPW Pascal <<<<<<<< HINT >>>>>>>> To view the next screen type ŒCOMMAND-v¹ (hold the COMMAND key and press character Œv¹) If you must exit at some point, type ŒCOMMAND-x COMMAND-c¹. The program 'eMACs' is based on MicroEMACS version 3.8, (C) by Daniel M. Lawrence, but written by a whole lot more people (see Acknowledgement section in the "eMACs Document"). Many parts of the program are rewritten to take better advantage of the Macintosh. Furthermore, it feels now more like 'gmacs' (Gosling's emacs) as it runs on UNIX machines. A (c)opyright is put on on 'eMACs' to avoid commercial use of this product without my knowledge. The program 'eMACs' can be used and copied freely by anybody for non-commercial use only, as long as it is left unchanged, and kept together with all documents and this notice. The program 'eMACs' consists of the following files: 'ReadMe' This file. 'eMACs' The editor application. 'eMACs Startup' Startup script for 'eMACs'. 'eMACs Help' On line help file for 'eMACs'. 'eMACs Document' Some documentation for 'eMACs'. The program 'eMACs' should run on all Macintosh computers, using the HFS file system. It is tried on a MAC IIci, Mac IIsi, Mac SE, Mac 512E, and a PowerBook 140 using System 6.0.4, 6.0.5, 7.0, and 7.0.1. Copy the program 'eMACs' and the folder 'eMACs Folder' to the disk and folder you like it to be in, as long as both the program and the folder are kept together in the same folder. This way 'eMACs' will find the startup and help files if needed. When 'eMACs' is started, the screen will contain two windows, one indicating some predefined function keys, and an empty window with the 'main' buffer. For on-line help, either use M-h (ESC-h), or functionkey 10 (F10, 'Option-0' on numeric keypad, or 'Command-Option-0'). Scroll through the help pages with ^V (control-v or Command-v) forward, and M-v (ESC-v or `-v) backward. For more information, read the 'eMACs Document', which contains general information and a description of all the commands in alphabetical order.
