ULTRASCIENCE F R E E D O M 2 0 0 S Y S T E M USER'S MANUAL NOTICE Ultrascience 1824 Wilmette Ave. Wilmette, IL 60091 (312)-256-0080 NOTE: THIS NOTICE IS IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ! Congratulations on your purchase of a Freedom 200 terminal system. We at Ultrascience know that you are anxious to install it and to take advantage of the features of the Freedom 200 terminal and Ultrascience FRE200 software. However, your success and our reputation are riding on the few minutes that it will take to read the FREDDOM 200 SYSTEM USER'S MANUAL from Ultrascience. Ultrascience has a fine reputation for providing user friendly, well engineered, reliable, inter-system compatible computer products at very competitive prices. However, no matter how excellent our products, they will not perform to specifications unless they are properly operated and applied. The few minutes taken to understand your Freedom 200 terminal system will be well spent; no service contract or support can replace the advantage of a knowlegeable user. The authors of the USER'S MANUAL have worked hard to provide a practical, helpful document which, when used in conjunction with the manuals provided by Liberty, will make the Freedom 200 terminal system much more useful and cost-effective. NOTE: Copies of the FREEDOM 200 SYSTEM USER'S MANUAL are available from Ultrascience, 1824 Wilmette Ave., Wilmette, IL 60091 (312/256-0080), on microfiche for a small handling charge and in paper form on special request. REV. 5.1 Copyright Ultrascience 1985 (C) Page 2 1.0 INTRODUCTION The exciting Freedom 200 is exceptionally attractive and well built, but it costs far less than terminals with less to offer. The Freedom 200 will emulate several popular types of terminals, but when used as a "FREEDOM" it offers powerful text editing function keys that have not been available to Alpha Micro users in the past. Ten function keys (20 with shift), 5 cursor control keys, and 11 edit keys permit the Alpha Micro user to operate text editors with such ease that bothersome menus and crib sheets will become unpleasant history. The labeled function keys make it easy for even a beginner to master the text editors in minutes. Features such as a 15 key numeric pad, 12 Function Command keys, programmable printer port buffer, screen saver, menu driven set-up mode, smooth scrolling and varied type sizes add to the flexibility of this fantastic terminal. The Ultrascience Freedom 200 driver currently supports the following programs: 1. AlphaVUE (Alpha Micro Systems, Irvine, CA) 2. SuperVUE (Micro Concepts, Huntington Beach, CA) 3. AlphaWRITE (Alpha Micro Systems, Irvine, CA) 4. AlphaCALC (Alpha Micro System, Irvine, CA) 5. DataVUE (MIcro Concepts, Huntington Beach, CA) 6. Alpha Base (B.S.W. Systems, Los Angeles, CA) 7. C Servant (CShare, Brawley, CA) 8. Others 2.0 TERMINAL SYSTEM COMPONENTS Ultrascience has created an Alpha Micro compatible driver and terminal modifications which make it possible to use the exciting Freedom 200 terminal with AM100, AM100T, AM100L, AM1000, and I/A 68KP processors.
