At this time you should only see this FAQ on the following websites www.gamefaqs.com - GameFAQ's www.ign.com - IGN FAQ's --- ii- About the author My name is Michael Radford, I have written several guides for the PS2, but never did do one for the Xbox. You can check out my other FAQ's by clicking on the back button on your browser, and pressing the Rook_42 link. ================================== 2- About the game i- What's the point Jet Set Radio Future is a game unlike all the generic FPS, Racing, sports and almost any other genre. What you do is skate around a Virtual near-future Tokyo. The idea is to conquer the city by Spraying your graffiti or 'tags' over the rival gangs to gain Territory. All this while fighting the Rokkui Group, which is taking over the city. ii- Who made it? The game is created by Sega, and comes as a package as part of your Xbox. This makes it available to people who wouldn't usually go for some thing like this. The previous version on which the sequel is based was on the DC. This game despite its great graphics and sounds did not do that great, partly because the DC did not last to long after it's release. Hopefully this sequel will do much better as the game is a classic. ================================== 3- How do I get the characters? i- How to get them When the game begins you have a choice of three characters as part of your gang, the GG's. As you progress through the game you will unlock a whole host of street punks, including rival gang bosses who switch sides. Then there are the hidden characters. These are unlocked after completing the main story mode you can go back to all the areas and attempt to finish all the street challenges and get all the graffiti souls and do the test runs. These are all you have to do for each level to unlock a hidden character which you can use to skate around with and try to get more hidden characters. They usually are rival gangs or a member of the GG's that you cannot play with such as Roboy or their dog Pots. ii- Street Challenges When you go into a new level you will soon find a not to well hidden mystery tape. This will unlock a series of tasks under the pause menu. These must be completed in order to get graffiti souls. iii- Graffiti Souls After doing a street challenge you will get a small scene showing you the location of a graffiti soul. These can actually be hard to get in some levels and may take a few hours to get them. All the graffiti souls in the level must be ascertained before the you can move onto the next stage of getting a hidden character. iv- Test runs After all the street challenges and all the graffiti souls have been collected then you have to talk to Roboy and go to the last option on the right. Go to the level which you have collected everything then complete a series of challenges, including a capture the flag event, a race and a event where you must get a set amount of points in a certain time limit. You must have finished the story mode and seen the credits roll before you can select this option. ================================== 4- Characters Below is a list of all the characters that are featured as playable characters in the game. All the people below can be unlocked as part of the story mode and will appear dancing in the garage when you have got them (and obviessly not playing as them). To switch characters talk to Roboy on the top level of the garage and chose the symbol with the face on it. Characters can also be changed at a graffiti stop. Just go to the second option from the top, asking if you want to change you character then pick who you want to play as. i- Corn Corn is the leader of the GG's. He has the exact same stats as Beat. And like Beat he is a good all-rounder, not greatly excelling at anything. He is a good character to use if you are new to the game. Speed: Average Style: Average Lifespan: Average Cans of paint character can hold: 30 Additional notes: Stats are the same as Beat --- ii- Gum The second in command of the GG's. Gum is fast and good at graffiti, but the thing that generally lets her down so she has a pitifully small amount of life. This means any long falls or fights with the Police much harder then with some other character. I only recommend using her on levels that you know there is not going to be a lot of damage sustained. Speed: Good Style: Excellent Lifespan: Poor Cans of paint character can hold: 30 Additional notes: Good on spraying levels, but very bad in scrapes. --- iii- Yoyo Yoyo has good skating and graffiti abilities, and has a good lifespan. He is also the main character in the game since he is the one you start with and he does get kidnapped later on. He apparently according to DJ Professor K to 'blow your mind with silver tongue' this is just a polite way of saying he must be hooked on helium. Speed: Good Style: Excellent Lifespan: Good Cans of paint character can hold: 30 Additional notes: The best character to start with, also the best to use in the early races in the game. --- iv- Beat Veterans of the last game will ember Beat as the main character. He has now taken a rather backseat until the end of the game when he is copied by Zero and Shadow Beats. He has the same status as Corn. This means that most of the time he is not that useful and there are other characters which would be better suited to a particular level then Beat is. Speed: Average Style: Average Lifespan: Average Cans of paint character can hold: 30 Additional notes: Stats are the same as Corn --- v- Combo Big tough guy with a boom box. He is the strongest regular character in the game and the one that you may find yourself using in those harder boss battles. Unfortunately for Combo, his good strength means in true video game fashion, he his fairly useless at anything to do with spray-painting. Speed: Average Style: Poor Lifespan: Excellent Cans of paint character can hold: 30 Additional notes: The best character for boss and police battles --- vi- Rhyth Surprising good for a secret character. Go onto the roof of Rokkui Dai Height's large warehouse with the two tracks and the graffiti soul in it. Follow her down to a hidden area and then back up, talk to her and she will join you. She is not only fast but also good on life and certainly knows her way around a con of paint. The best character yet. Speed: Over-average Style: Good Lifespan: Good Cans of paint character can hold: 30 Additional notes: The best character to use on any level up to this point with the exception of Combo for the bosses. --- vii- Garam The sewer boy, this skater with the strange mask over his eyes is another great character. He is easily as good as Rhyth and is perfect for the underground sewage facility level. Speed: Excellent Style: Excellent Lifespan: Excellent Cans of paint character can hold: 30 Additional notes: Good for the sewers level. He has a good life span and is also fairly fast so he is perfect for hunting down poison jam. --- viii- Boogie Another hidden character. Whilst trying to get all of the Immortal's graffiti's covered up she will appear. She is on the top floor of the structure she appears on so grind the left rail all the way to the top and jump the gap. Talk to her before she runs away. If you don't get there in time then simply go back down to the ground and go up the opposite stairs, then go back down and she should appear again. She will never stop coming so if you keep missing her just repeat it until you can get to her. If you manage to talk to her before she gets away then she joins the GG's and you have acquired the best normal character in the game. Speed: Excellent Style: Excellent Lifespan: Excellent Cans of paint character can hold: 30 Additional notes: The best normal character in the game --- ix- Jazz After you have played Death Ball at the stadium then go back and you will have to race Jazz. She is not that hard if you boost at the right moments and you should beat her in a few goes. She is the first character to hold 35 cans. Speed: Excellent Style: Good Lifespan: Good Cans of paint character can hold: 35 Additional notes: Can hold a whopping 5 more cans then the previous characters, (except Clutch) *gasp* --- x- Cube Another secret character. Keep talking to Gum in the garage. She will say that the poison jam leader is showing her face again. (it will be after your final encounter with the noise tanks in Sky Dinosaurian Square). Go to the bottom of the underground sewage facility and follow the path until you meet Cube dancing. Talk to her and you will race her. Beat her all the way around the sewers and she will join you. It is a hard race, just remember to use the same pipes she does and don't fall of the suspended walkway towards the end. Also, after the first spiral pipe finishes jump, you'll be glad you did. Finally, she will hardly ever boost. And she an only do it twice compared to your three as long as she doesn't pick up any more spray cans. If you know the course and when to boost you will win her by miles, if you don't she'll hammer you. Speed: Excellent Style: Below-average Lifespan: Average Cans of paint character can hold: 25 Additional notes: Only being able to hold 25 spray cans means she is rather rubbish at the spray time trials, however she is extremely fast and you should use her in races if you didn't get Boogie, or just want a change. --- xi- Soda The final hidden character in the game, beat him in a race and he will join you. He is an odd looking person with a blue jacket and googles. He is not the fastest person ever, saying that his stats are not good in all aspects. Since he is the last character you will get in the garage thenyou aren't too likely to use him a great deal. Speed: Good Style: Good Lifespan: Good Cans of paint character can hold: 25 Additional notes: He is not the fastest, or most stylish character. He is only a 'better then avarage' character. He is slightly tough to beat in the race, and is not worth wasting time on. --- xii- Clutch The reason Clutch is down here is nothing to do with the storyline, I just forgot him. Although he maybe an all right character, he is a jerk and I never use him. There is not much to say about him really, um, he has the same stats as Jazz. Speed: Excellent Style: Good Lifespan: Good Cans of paint character can hold: 35 Additional notes: He has a red jumper with red spiky hair. He also can (like Jazz) hold the limit of 35 cans. ================================== 5- Hidden Characters These characters cannot be unlocked in the story mode. Collecting all of the Graffiti Souls and painting all the graffiti in one area must unlock them. Then you must complete the required challenge, see the special challenges FAQ on gamefaqs for more in-depth information on how to complete these challenges. After you finish them all, a character will join you. However the hidden characters, with the exeption of Roboy and Pots, never appear dancing in the garage. i- A.KU.MU This is the final boss of the game. You cannot perform any of his moves though :( Speed: Excellent Style: Average Lifespan: Excellent Cans of paint character can hold: 30 Unlock this character by: Doing everything for the Fortified Residential Zone Additional notes: The fortified residential zone is one of the hardest places to get a hidden character because of the levels complexity. Until you know what you are doing then this area will give you more then a minor headache. --- ii- Doom Riders You only saw these guys when you had to play against them in Deathball and again when you raced around Dokanzaka Hill. Speed: Excellent Style: Excellent Lifespan: Excellent Cans of paint character can hold: 30 Unlock this character by: By getting the JET ranking on Dokanzaka Hill. Additional notes: Has the same stats as Boogie and Clutch. --- iii- Gouji Rokkaku The ringleader of the Rokkaku Group. He is the one who controls Tokyo, and the Rokkaku Police. Also, he owns a large tower and likes making evil faces. Speed: Excellent Style: Average Lifespan: Excellent Cans of paint character can hold: 35 Unlock this character by: By getting the JET ranking on Dokanzaka Hill. Additional notes: Same stats as A.KU.MU --- iv- Immortals They're a gang of Mummies (seriously). Controlling the Sky Scraper District and Pharaoh Park. Speed: Poor Style: Avarage Lifespan: Poor Cans of paint character can hold: 30 Unlock this character by: By getting the JET ranking in all Pharaoh Park trials Additional notes: Same stats as Love shockers --- v- Love Shockers As with a few other gangs (Poison Jam and Noise Tanks) you may remember these guys from Jet Set Radio. This time they take a back seat in the roles, but you can still play as them, hurrah! Speed: Poor Style: Average Lifespan: Poor Cans of paint character can hold: 30 Unlock this character by: By getting the JET ranking on the Hikage Street trials. Additional notes: Same Stats as the Immortals --- vi- Noise Tanks These guys are a gang of robots hired by the Rokaku group. There are fast and there's never one for hours then billions turn up at once, like buses you know. Speed: Excellent Style: Poor Lifespan: Excellent Cans of paint character can hold: 25 Unlock this character by: By getting the JET ranking on Highway Zero trials. Additional notes: Same stats as Roboy --- vii- NT-3000 The Noise Tank imposter looks like Yoyo. He has the same stats as him and is responsible for one of the main twists in the game. Speed: Good Style: Excellent Lifespan: Good Cans of paint character can hold: 30 Unlock this character by: By getting the JET ranking on Sky Dinosaurian Park trials. Additional notes: Same stats as Yoyo --- viii- Poison Jam The last gang from the Jet Set Radio. Apart from a few small changes, they still look like the badly dressed, crazy monsters from last time. Speed: Average Style: Poor Lifespan: Excellent Cans of paint character can hold: 30 Unlock this character by: By getting the JET ranking on BOTH levels of the underground sewage facility. Additional notes: Same stats as Combo --- ix- Pots Pots is also back again. He maybe a dog, but he knows how to skate. Speed: Poor Style: Good Lifespan: Excellent Cans of paint character can hold: 35 Unlock this character by: By getting the JET ranking on the Kibogaoka Hill trials. Additional notes: Has a tiny life bar, but it goes down slower so he can take more hits. --- x- Rapid 99 One of the first gangs you meet, you may have forgotten about them by the end of the game, but if you ever complete the 99th street trials, you get these. Speed: Good Style: Excellent Lifespan: Poor Cans of paint character can hold: 30 Unlock this character by: By getting the JET ranking on all 99th street trials. Additional notes: Same stats as Gum --- xi- Roboy Even when you win Roboy he still appears in the garage. An interesting point as well about him, is that his eyes turn red and an X appears on a control panel on his body when he stops moving, spooky. Speed: Excellent Style: Poor Lifespan: Excellent Cans of paint character can hold: 25 Unlock this character by: By getting the JET ranking on all Chuo Street trials. Additional notes: Same stats as Noise Tanks --- xii- Zero Beat These freaky Beat clones are all in black, have large clawed hands and no feet, just skates. They try to mimic Beat and shout the same things he does as you skate around. Speed: Average Style: Average Lifespan: Average Cans of paint character can hold: 30 Unlock this character by: By getting the JET ranking on all Shibuya Terminal trials. Additional notes: Same stats as Beat ================================== 6- Thanks and credit i- Thanks for reading and credits Thanks for taking the time to read this FAQ, I hope you found it useful enjoy my other FAQs. --- ii- Contact information If you wish to host this or any other of my guides please write to me at mike8580@hotmail.com.
