It was tiny, puny and weak. 8KB? 8KB?! I laugh at my old guide. Well, here is a pumped-up, pimped-out new guide. It's been brought up to standards with my latest guides, meaning we've got more sections here. Characters, story, a *real* introduction, controls. Everything. Pretty shibby, huh? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (R-V) REVIEW (R-V) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Girls are beginning to rule the roost now. With Lara breaking the way for lead female characters into the world of video games, but there's one woman who'd prefer to making her own entrance, even if she needs to smash her way through... Chase Corrada...dazzling...foxy...sexy...and dangerous. She's destined and determined to make her mark on the stunt-driving world, beating all the male daredevils to fame. Chase gets her break when Mr. Chin, highly acclaimed movie director, hires her out to star in four of his latest block busters. Sounds cool, huh? Read on. Well, aside from the premise of the game, it's let down. It's hardly polished and it does make you feel like you're playing a game that belonged in the closing era of the PSX. There's hardly a difference in performance rates between the vehicles you drive...their handling feels clunky and cumbersome, be it a Noodle Tuk-Tuk van or a top-of-the-line Porsche. But if you look past the graphics and at the core gameplay, you have to commend the boys down at Bam! Entertainment for their somewhat creative game. Simple objectives such as racing out of a military base, through the gates of an airbase and driving up the ramp to a taxi-ing plane is something special. On top of these objectives are bonus objectives, such as you doing several backflips or collecting all of the hidden clapper boards through the scenes. It does add to the replay value, but how hard is it to a couple of back flips? Incredibly easy. Too easy, in fact. Some levels are refreshing and fun to play again and again, but some are butt-clenchingly tedious (one such level had me repeating it more than 60 times before completion) and unforgiving. There's a very nice replay feature which allows you to create chase movies, but it's only for the Story mode, so there won't be no Take-A-Ride mode ala Driv3r where you can tear up the streets how you want. Chase is sadly left alone. Nobody picks it up. The developers too ashamed to breathe life back into it. If Chase was given more time to be developed and perfected and made into a game where the ideas behind it were backed up with graphical strength and smart AI, we might have a successful game series on our hands, but that's not the case. And it's not just the lack of polishing, it's the lack of time. The game is made of 4 movies, with 4 scenes in each, totaling 16 levels to play through. Not that many, and will only last a few hours before it's completed start-to-finish. Good game, poor execution. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (C-C) CONTROLS (C-C) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Okay, here is a carbon-copy of the controls of the game, just so you know how to control that vehicle. You'll need to learn some of these skills in order to find and collect some of these hidden trophies, so be on the look out... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XBOX CONTROLLER BUTTON LAYOUT ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ______ ______ /L.TRIG\ /R.TRIG\ /¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯`-,____,-`¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\ / \ / /¯¯¯\ \¯\/¯/ (Y) \ Left Stick------|-> | | /_/\_\ (X) (B) | | \___/ XBOX (A) | (Back)------|-> O _____ | (Start)---------/--> O /_| |_\ /¯¯¯\ O <-\------(Black) | |_ + _| | | O <---|--------(White) D-PAD------|--------> \_|_|_/ \___/ <---------|----Right Stick / \ | /`--------¯¯¯¯¯¯--------`\ | | / Controller S \ | | / made by Thuyker \ | \____/ \____/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DRIVING CONTROLS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ______ ______ / \ / \ <------Accelerator /¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯`-,____,-`¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\ / \ / /¯¯¯\ \¯\/¯/ (Y) <---\---Rear View Left/Right------|-> | | /_/\_\ (X) (B)<--|-----Emergency Brake Steering | \___/ XBOX (A) <----|-----Nitros Boost | O _____ | / O /_| |_\ /¯¯¯\ O<--\---Change Camera | |_ + _| | | O <---\---Flips vehicle Left/Right----|--------> \_|_|_/ \___/ | Steering / \ | /`--------¯¯¯¯¯¯--------`\ | | / \ | | / \ | \____/ \____/ Left Thumbstick | Left / Right Steering Clicked Left Thumbstick | No Effect Right Thumbstick | No Effect Clicked Right Thumbstick | No Effect Left Trigger | Brake/Reverse Right Trigger | Accelerator D-Pad Up | No Effect D-Pad Down | Steer Left D-Pad Left | Steer Right D-Pad Right | No Effect A Button | Nitros Boost B Button | Emergency Brake X Button | The Stunt/Trick Button Y Button | Look Behind/Rear View Black | Change Camera White | Flips vehicle if off wheels. After impressing big-shot director Mr. Chin, she's been hired to star in 4 big-budget movies. Awesome, huh? Well, Corrada's not only, as Chin has also bought Rick Baen, Chase's arch rival, to the movie-making set. It's now a battle of wits, skills and cars as Chase and Rick tear up the sets to find out who the true Master of Stunts is. ...The Chase Is On. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (C-H) CHARACTERS (C-H) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chase Corrada: =-=-=-=-=-=-=- Chase Corrada is now one of the hottest stunt-drivers in the world of show business and Hollywood. She has been interested in stunt-driver since forever due to her famous father, Griffin Corrada, stunt-driving legend. She's young and head-strong, but she is still a rookie when it comes down to the stunt-scene, and would do anything to prove herself to the world. Rick Baen: =-=-=-=-=- Rick Baen is the rival of the game. This guy is now #1 in the Stunt-driving scene, taking over the position of Griffin Corrada after an accident. It has always been thought that Rick was to cause for the accident. He now stars in all of the movies of today as "The Driver" of the set and will do anything to upstage his fellow dare-devils. Arrogant as hell... Mr. Chin: =-=-=-=-= Mr Chin is an A-List celebrity director, owning the rights to all of the latest movies on the scene. He's travelled all over the world with his production team to make the best movies. From Hong Kong to Chicago and even to the deserts of the Outback to shoot. He has hired Chase to star in each of the four movies he is currently working on, whether because he sees some talent, or whether it be a favour to his best friend, Griffin Corrada, who he met years ago when they were both amateurs. Griffin Corrada: =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Griffin Corrada was once on top. He was the Man who starred in all the films before he recieved a serious injury which hindered his career. The accident occured whilst in a stunt with Rick Baen, who promptly over-took Corrada's position on the film and succeded him. He is the father of Chase Corrada, and sadly lost his wife when she died during childbirth. Chase is his only daughter and has spent his entire life with her. He has since taken up training her in the field of dare-devilry... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (T-H) TIPS / HINTS (T-H) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **** UPDATE LATER **** ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (T-G) TROPHY GUIDE (T-G) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.a. The Unchaseables --------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------- 1.b. Train Jump ----------------------------- Okay, as soon as the Director shouts "Action", hit the gas and drive straight over the ramp and then across the bridge. At the other side of the bridge, turn off left and then take the SECOND exit on the left. This road will take you to the train-station. Just follow the road up and around the hill. Once you're at the top and it begins to curve, break and make a U-Turn. You should see a small patch of grass to your left, with the trophy hidden behind the tree. Drive up here and collect the Bam! Trophy. ------------------------------ 1.c. Bridge Escape ------------------------------ This trophy is easy to find, but most had trouble finding it. Once the scene is rolling, drive forward and onto the main road straight ahead of you, turning left as you normally would. Follow this road and once you see a turn-off right, take it. If you drive around this road, you'll soon see the Bam! Trophy on the right-hand side of the street. Go and collect it. ------------------------------- 1.d. Train Chase ------------------------------- Another easy on to find. When the director gives the go ahead, hit the ramp and jump the river. Stay upon the dirt road for as long as you can, jumping the fallen trees. When you come to the blocked off route with a police road-block, veer off left and instead of going through the fence and into the train shed, go up left and actually onto the train tracks themselves. There will be a tiny bridge ahead, and in the middle will be your hidden Bam! Trophy. Go over and collect it, but becareful not to be rammed or thrown off it by the oncoming train. Easy. ------------------------------- 1.e. Triggermen ------------------------------- This is in plain-sight, but is very easy to miss, mainly because of the frantic action going on in the scene. Go through the level once, without worrying about the trophy so you know the level layout. Done that? Now play through the level, and once you pass by the gas-station, actually go around it to the right instead of going down the large country-lane. You will need to slow down in order to reach it, otherwise you'll fly straight by it. The Bam! Trophy is just sitting...waiting to be picked up, so do so. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.a. Chase of the Triad IV -------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ 2.b. Warehouse Escape ------------------------------ You'll find this near the end of the level. Okay. Place through the level, and once you come to the large industrial cargo warehouses, jump the ramp and skid yourself out and across the bridge. Follow the route round, avoiding the explosions from the buildings either side, and once you come to a lit-up storage building that you have to drive through, don't. Instead, veer off right and drive around the back. There is a small gap which runs along the back, the Bam! Trophy is hidden here. You'll need to smash through the boxes here to reach it. -------------------------------- 2.c. Last Boat to China -------------------------------- This one was really hidden that I had to re-play it dozens of times. Turns out, it was hidden right in an obvious place... Anyway, drive through the window once the scene starts, over the trailer and begin your cruise through the cargo-crates maze. Jump the blockade and then do the U-Turn around to the next line of crates. Pass under the falling shipping containers and at the end will be a chain-linked fence. Smash through it on your bike and drive around this area to find the Bam! Trophy behind another cargo crate. ---------------------------------- 2.d. Ramen on the Run ---------------------------------- Once the level has started, burst through the window ahead and out onto the street. Drive through the streets and through the market-place. Head down the stairs and out into the street once more. Directly from the steps ahead will be a park with a statue in the centre. Drie over here and up the steps of the monument. Drive around and collect the Bam! Trophy as it sits up here. ----------------------------------- 2.e. Mall Rampage ----------------------------------- Okay. Fun mission. This one nobody should have trouble finding, since it's right in plain view and they even leave a ramp for you to use to get it which most of you use anyway to complete the mission. Play through the level, going down the escalators, across the courtyard and then through the cafe. Now, past this area, a little way ahead, you will see the Bam! Trophy straight away inside a display window, and a small ramp just in front of it. Slow down and align your wheels so you hit it correctly. If all went well, you would of gone through the glass, grabbed the Trophy and out again with no trouble. Easy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.a. Chasing Survival: ---------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------- 3.b. Infiltration ---------------------------- After chasing the Giro-Copter for a long while, you'll come to a jump and a large structure made up of destroyed and wrecked buses. Now, instead of hitting the ramp and launching yourself over there, avoid it, and drop down under the structure. The Bam! Trophy is hidden along here. Grab it. ---------------------------- 3.c. Boulderdash ---------------------------- This one is not hidden at all. Oh no. Instead, it's in plain-view, just to taunt you, but you need to hit a ramp in the correction way to land on the platform where it stands. Play through the level until you drive across a large bridge-like structure, directly after you burst through the boarded up door-way. At the end of this bridge will be The Ramp. Hit the ramp and try to land on top of the buses. The Bam! Trophy rests up on top. ----------------------------- 3.d. Defend the Fortress ----------------------------- A long mission is Defend the Fortress, so be prepared for a long wait until you find the Trophy. Just follow the little enemy buggy until he blows his way out of the front gate. After a little chase on the outside, the enemy buggy will decide to re-enter the fortress and blow another hole in the wall. When he does drive in, just go up the ramp nearby to the platform above and carefully and slowly drive around to the right. The trophy sits up here... ------------------------------- 3.e. Magma Mines ------------------------------- This one is easy to find, but it's right at the end of the level so be careful not to accidently drive past it. Drive through the entire level, past the lava pits and rolling boulders. When you're on the "final stretch", where the cave ends and the boarded up entrance looms ahead, hit the ramp just before the end and you'll be launch up into the rafters of the tunnel where the next Bam! Trophy lies in wait. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.a. The Spy Who Chased Me -------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ 4.b. Last Plane To Freedom ------------------------------ This is tucked away in the airfield, away from the main runway. Most people overlooked this since they were too busy trying to board the airplance. Okay, once the director screams "Action!", drive forward and out of the base, jumping the bridge and veering off right and into the airfield. Instead of racing down the airstrip, head straight to the right and around the back of the buildings and hangars. Behind the Traffic Control tower is the Bam! Trophy. Collect it, and you're free to swerve back on course to board the plane. ------------------------------- 4.c. Helicopter Escape ------------------------------- Okay. Once the director gives the go-ahead, drive forward and out onto the main road. Take it around left and continue to follow it, taking the SECOND EXIT on the right. Hit the ramp and jump the military tank roadblock and turn left at the junction. Then, turn right when you reach the next T-Junction. Drive round this road, you will see a patch of open grass down an alleyway of some buildings....Turn down here and get the Bam! Trophy. -------------------------------- 4.d. Dueling Spies -------------------------------- Hit the gas as soon as the director calls the scene to action and follow Baen as he drives through the tunnel. When the tunnel stops and turns into the mountain road, be prepared to veer off right through a large grassy patch. This green patch is on the first bend in the road. Drive through this tree-filled area and you'll soon find the Bam! Trophy. -------------------------------- 4.e. Death Valley -------------------------------- Ah. The final trophy to collect, and the hardest one at that. It's not anywhere on the route, but instead, directly behind you. Just do a U-Turn and spin around on your bike. Simply drive behind the buildings and barracks and you'll discover the Bam! Trophy along the back around here. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Congrats, you now own all the Bam! Trophies. ...Go nuts. Do something. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (T-K) THANKS TO...
