Introduction Super Darius 2 is a remake of the Darius 2, also known as Sagaia for the Genesis. Do not confuse that Sagaia for the Sagaia of the Sega Master System. Super Darius 2's graphics and music are top notch for the system. The graphics are the best I have seen in a Turbo CD game, with many mini- bosses and bosses that look amazing. The music done by the same artist that was hired for Lords of Thunder so just having that name there almost insures its quality. Many previous Darius games did not implement any kind of difficulty option. This made many of the games hard to beat. However Super Darius 2 gets it right this time with three different difficulties, and a truckload of lives and continues. Another plus for Super Darius 2 is its replay value. You can see 5 different endings in Super Darius 2 depending on which final stage you complete, which is pretty unique to shooters. Unfortunately Super Darius 2 has several bad things that prevent it from becoming a classic. The ship you control is big and a little slow, and the enemies are also pretty big and slow. This makes for some awkward dodging. Some of the bosses and mini-bosses are simply to easy even on the hardest difficulty. The bullet patterns could have easily been improved, rarely do bullets travel a non-linear path. However, even with the downsides Super Darius 2 is still a good shooter. I give props to my brother Grandmaster Youmu for assisting me in with this walkthrough! II. Game Story Proco and Tiat pick up an SOS signal from another solar system, and go to fight the fishy threat. Fishies FTW! III. Options A. Game Level - You can set it to Easy, Normal, or Hard. B. Silver Hawk Left - You can set it from 0 to 9. C. Continue - You can select 0 to 9 continues. They were EXTREMELY generous here. D. Joypad Auto Repeat - Select ON or OFF. I highly recommend switching this auto fire to On. E. Player - Choose Proco or Tiat. No difference at all except color. F. Sound Test - 01-15 let you listen to sound effects. Selecting 00 will show a cinematic with the only Japanese text in this Japanese game. *There are two known cheats regarding this Option screen. These cheats work on Turbo CD. Cheat mode: Highlight the "Silver Hawk Left" option on the configuration menu and press Right fifteen times. Then, highlight the "Player" option and press Right fifteen times. Press Run and begin game play. Select any level to start the game with a large amount of lives. You can also go to any level in the game, backwards or forwards. **NOTE** Even though every reference to this cheat says it is UNLIMITED LIVES, it is not. If you constantly die for minutes, you WILL get a game over. In the lives left box during the levels you will see an "X" for the amount of lives. The selection of any level in the game using this code is also not mentioned anywhere else I could find. Slow motion mode: Pause game play, but continue to use the controller. The ship will move forward one frame per button press. IV. Basic Controls 1) You can fire constantly if you hold the fire button. 2) The ship moves in any direction of the d-pad you press. 3) One button is to fire and the other is to use bombs. 4) Press Run(AKA Select AKA Start) to pause the game. V. On the Difficulties Easy - This lets you keep powerups until you lose your continue. Enemies are slow and rarely fire. Normal - You lose your pickups once you die. Enemies are more aggressive. Hard - Enemies are very aggressive. The frequency of fire is much increased. Much harder than Normal difficulty. This is my suggested difficulty of play. Easy is a joke, and Normal is a little too easy. VI. Pickups Sagaia for the Genesis has the same pickups with the exclusion of one in this game. The makers decided to basically just copy and paste. There are three kinds of pickups to upgrade your attack. The red colored pickup upgrades your forward shots. Yellow upgrades your vertical and horizontal lasers. Green upgrades your bombs. Blue pickups upgrade your shield. You will need multiple of these to get to the next level. However, once you reach that level, whenever you get a shield pick-up you start at that level. There is one other kind of pickup which is important. A life-up pickup, which increases your amount of lives by one. Turquoise Pickup - Shield lvl 1 - start with no shield lvl 2 - Turqoise and Green shield lvl 3 - no change lvl 4 - no change lvl 5 - Blue and Gray Shield lvl 6 - no change lvl 7 - no change lvl 8 - Gold Shield Pickup - Bomb lvl 1 - start with small cluster that falls forward lvl 2 - small cluster added that falls backward as well lvl 3 - changes them to arrows that shoot faster lvl 4 - change to bombs that can travel along the ground. lvl 5 - change to small balls that can travel along ground further. They do not die so easily against obstacles. Purple Pickup - Forward Shot lvl 1 - start with one forward lvl 2 - two forward lvl 3 - two forward but more powerful ad thicker looking lvl 4 - adds bullets going at a slight angle above and below the two forward lasers lvl 5 - adds another bullet beside those ones lvl 6 - changes the two forward shots to a single blue ball lvl 7 - makes the blue ball a little larger. The blue balls can set off the detonators that kill everying on the screen. lvl 8 - makes the blue orb move in a sine wave Yellow Pickup - Vertical and Diagonal - Use these as much as possible when you get them. They are very strong. lvl 1 - start with none lvl 2 - adds an up and down laser lvl 3 - makes them bend forward to fire diagonally lvl 4 - adds two laser that cover behind you diagonally both up and down lvl 5 - adds two vertical lasers that go up and down. It is good to have those back. lvl 6 - bends the front diagonal laser to go forward after a short while of traveling. lvl 7 - adds a copy of your current front diagonal laser that bends forward above the one you have currently 1UP - Increases amount of lives by one. VII. Levels with Good Music Sun (Zone A) Venus Earth Jupiter VIII. Cool Looking Levels Many levels look the same, so if you want to play the really nice looking ones, then look no farther. The best looking levels can be found on Earth and Jupiter for the most part. Hardest Path A, B, E, J, N, T, Z This path hits all the hard bosses. Notably Revenge Shark, Leadain, and Heat Arrow. Have fun, and remember to put the difficulty on Hard! XI. Easiest Path A, C, F, I, M, S, Y This path avoids the hardest bosses, especially Revenge Shark, Leadain, and Heat Arrow. I would prefer not to have to fight the Crab Armor, but for this path to be easy, Revenge Shark, and Leadain must be avoided. XI. Bosses A. (GE0P) Golden Eyes By far the easiest boss in the game. After a few SECONDS of shooting it will die. It fires a tri-shot and a glowing ball in an arc. Zones: A B. (PG3F) B-Guardian Slightly harder than its counterpart on Zone C, this will try ramming you, firing fireballs, and a it uses a short range flamethrower. If the fireballs hits the ground it causes a large uprising of fire. Its head is detachable, and it will fire it at you, and then after a few seconds it will return to the screen. The head is destructable. The easiest way to kill it is to stay at the top of the screen and bomb its head. Zones: B C. (KL2H) Killer Hijia Instead of only using the tri-shot common to minibosses he fires the tri-shot and other shots from several places on his body. After shooting a short time he will appear to die, but then will come back to fire missiles at you. After shooting a few waves of missiles at you he will revert to his previous form. Stay just above his head and bomb him to kill him easily. Zones: C D. (D7O0) Revenge Shark A boss to avoid if you dislike tough bosses. You can only truly harm the shark's nose, so while the game takes you around the boss in circles (did I mention this boss is big?) you will have to wait your turn to fire a few shots at its nose. The nose is hard to get close to because it too will fire bullets at you. Humanoid robots will be flying around firing at you. If you do not destroy the humanoid robots as they come out, eventually they will combine into a large robot that fires a massive laser. On the bottom of the ship tiny ships leave the revenge shark like waste. A ship will be taking off every now and then from the two runways on its back. Tiny shots a flying all over the place in addition to all of the above. Although the back and top fin are destructible it does not affect anything. Zones: D, E E. (DD05) Deep Dragon The boss fires blue balls and homing missiles from its tail. It also fires crescent beams at you from its belly. The Deep Dragon head moves back and forth and if you bumb into it you will die. To kill it, you just need to shoot and dodge. It is unlike other bosses where the head is its only weak point. Zones: F F. (CA2C) Crab Armor This is the most annoying boss in the game, because the hit box for its head is a square. Its tail hit the ground every once in awhile flinging rocks into the air. It also shoots little fish at you while firing crescents in a semi- circle into the air. This square hit box will hit you if you go near its head so stay above it when he is close. When it is far away stay near the ground and fire its head.. Do not try any close quarters dodging. Zones: G, I G. (BC0O) Bald Crab This boss can be vicious at times. It can fire loads of homing missiles along with a bullets in a stream. It also fires a spiky ball that explodes along the diagonals. The most unexpected attack is where it tries to hit you with its head (I think it is its head at least). On easier difficulties the Bald Crab is not that bad, but on Hard it can be killer. Keep shooting at the head to kill. However if you place your ship right above that red protrusion and bomb it you can kill it very quickly. Zones: H, J H. (FB30) Yamato When you start the fight you may be surprised to find yourself fighting the sunken Japanese warship Yamato. You need to be careful not to have your ship touch the Yamato, because even though it may lok like it is in the background it is not. Yamato's guns fire little shots at you which are easy to dodge. Destroy those guns and the boss will become revealed. The boss is a giant hermit crab that has made the Yamato its home. You have a lot of horizontal room here to dodge the dark spheres it fires at you. The second form is where the crab appears with a large chunk of the warship on its back. Stay high and shoot the chunk to death. Then the crab will fire dark purplish black spheres at you. Dodge those and shoot the ball on top of its body to defeat it. Zones: K, M I. (F407) Leadain The toughest boss in the game besides Heat Arrow. The only weak part of this enemy is the core. This boss has 4 arms that shoot out and a tiny yellow eye that comes out. After some damage the sphere will separate into two parts and try to crunch you between them. While it is trying to crunch you, the yellow eye and spines are shooting out. The spines alternate between horizontal/vertical shots and the diagonals. After taking even more damage, Leadain will fire homing balls, lasers, and spin a chain of bubbles in a semi- circle. The chain will either come from above or below. After this final form it will die. Zones: L, N, O J. (KN8G) Dark Modon This boss fires multiple homing missiles to start with. And to keep you away from the top it has a laser on its back that pops out. If you keep staying above it, Dark Modon fires shots vertically that shoot forward horizontally with across from you. It continually tries to hit you with a container that bursts apart firing three shots from its mouth. The Dark Modon has a blind spot to the left of the screen right above its head so you can bomb it to death. Zones: P-U K. (RS93) Mech. Bio Strong This is one of the most creepy bosses ever. When it appears a baby starts crying. It is in a fetal-like position. At first it does not even try to attack you, it seems to be sleeping with its nose in some kind of sac. After you destroy the sac it will try to kill you. It fires lasers out of arm diagonally up toward you, and makes these bubbles guard the top of its head. It has some homing missiles, and a long tongue that tries to smash you if you get to close to its face. Like the Dark Modon, there is a blind spot in the left part of the screen near its head. If you continually fire and bomb this boss will die. Zones: Top and Bottom V,W,Y NOTE** To get an ending using an emulator, I had to save state during this boss, then reload from the state, then kill the boss to be able to get ending. L. (IO0R) Moderato Moderato starts off on the right side of the stage firing missiles at you. Destroy the yellow hair-like tentacles coming out from its head and jaw, and it will start spinning around you. Keep firing while making sure the boss does not bump into you. Keep firing and you should not die. Zones: X M. (TW2F) Heat Arrow Toughest boss in the game. On Hard this guy is a monster that takes over 15 minutes to kill. What makes this guy so hard is that you can only harm him at two times. When he fires the tiny shots from his mouth, and when his head turns into a massive gun that fires a laser at you. After firing a three times at you this giant sunfish's next attack will be the giant laser. Before he pulls out the laser gun you need to be above him constantly firing your bombs. The bombs do massive damage when he has the gun out. Another thing to watch out for is that Heat Arrow frequently changes sides of the screen. Make sure you destroy its bottom or top fin so that you are not destroyed when it moves to the other side of the screen. If it starts to change sides and you were unable to destroy the fin that would allow you to move freely above or below it, then stay on your side near the edge on the top or bottom. As it turns to take the position on the other side there is a second or two where you can go to the other side without dying. Zones: Top and Bottom Z XII. Mini-Bosses The info I provide will be very brief. Almost every miniboss has two attacks. One is some type of spread shot, and the other is some type of forward attack. Some have type of homing, or unique attack. I will provide the zone(s) they are in, and a little description of them. A. King Fossil (Zone A) Inspired by the ancient coelacanth. This fires a spread of small shots. B. Guard Savage (Zone B) A shark that shoots a spread of purple fire in front of it, and likes ramming. C. Hyper Sting (Zone C) Hyper Sting looks like a pink Lionfish. This miniboss is highly destructible. You can destroy about 5-6 pieces of its body. After you destroy all the parts a small escape pod leaves the screen after landing on the ground. D. Big Rajarnn (Zone D) This manta ray fires two fire crescents at you on either side of its head along with a homing missile from its tail. It has no destructable parts, so you have to keep shooting it in the face until it dies. E. Little Stripes (Zone E) Fires shots from its upper, lower, and back fins. If you remove all the fins it will start firing rapidly. Has a few homing missiles. F. Fatty Glutton (Zone F) This is a difficult miniboss to defeat. When he first shoots the tiny fish come out of mouth in a line. Then the spread into a fan and then move either up or down as one. It stays onscreen only for a short period of time, then leaves. I suggest staying away from this miniboss and concentrate on dodging. G. Steel Spine (Zone G) Steel Spine is another tough miniboss. The puffer fish fires homing missiles, forward lasers, and fires bullets in a semi-circle. H. Drio Sawm (Zone H) It tries to ram you, but it will die easily. I. Blowfish (name?) (Zone I) Bomb head to kill easily. It fires tri-shots and forward fireballs. After it dies it leaves a little gift behind in the form of a spread of shots that fires forward. J. Red Crab (Zone J) It is a crab, and it jumps, and shoots bubbles. Compared to Red Crab in Sagaia this thing is a joke. K. Odd Fish (name?) (Zone K) Has an elongated beak like nose, and a wide flat tail. Has a cool attack where it shoots out a ball and lasers spin out from it as it moves forward. If you stay to the extreme left side of the screen across from its nose you cannot be hit. L. Strong Shell (Zone L) I never would have guessed it was a turtle to be honest. M. Cuttlefish (Zone M) Has two long gray arms that shoot fireballs forward, and also fires the basic tri-shot. Before it leaves it will fire about five lasers at you from its mouth. N. Keen Bayonet(Zone N) Swordfish that flies through the air and cut off parts of the ceiling that fall and can kill you. O. Pink Swordfish (name?) (Zone O) This mini-boss is simple. It only has forward attacks. It has some lasers that come out of its top fin and some shots from its mouth. Kill it by shooting its mouth. P. Blue Snake (name?) (Zone P) Pretty sure this is a Super Darius 2 exclusive. You destroy the spheres on its body to stop it from shooting. Then destroy its head to kill it. Q. Mystic Power (Zone Q) A snail that does not put up much of a fight. It fires a few shots forward leaving itself completely open to being bombed in the eyes. R. Fire Star (Zone R) I like the name for this starfish. When it spins slowly it fires tri-shots slower than when it spins quickly. Surprise lasers tend to sneak out and kill you stay back a bit to didge. S. Iron Hammer (Zone S) A hammerhead shark is only vulnerable on the bottom gun. Only abilities are forward shots. T. Buddy Blazer (Zone T) It shoots tiny fish at you that fly past you then fly in the same direction you are going. The trick is that they as they are shot out they can kill you, and as they fly they shoot. If you stay perfectly even with the nose and constantly fire then you will never be harmed, and you can kill teh boss easily. U. My Home Daddy (Zone U) Love the name for this hermit crab. It has a port hole on the top of its home that fires a fast laser forward. Its only other attack is to fire balls in an arc that explode when they hit the ground. V. Dual Sheers (Zone Top Z) Dual Sheers here is a very small version of Dual Sheers in the previous Darius games. It only has forward laser attacks, and you become untouchable when staying at the top. Might as well bomb him to death. W. Thin Fish (name?) (Zone Top Z) It is green on top and white on the bottom. Its main attack consists of trying to ram you after spraying some bullets forward. Shoot anywhere on it to kill. X. Great Thing (Zone Top V) Great Thing is an epic boss in other Darius games. It has forward lasers, bottom diagonal lasers, and fish that fly out of its mouth in an arc moving upward. Y. Flounder (name?) (Zone Top V and Zone Bottom Z) Demon Ships carry this miniboss on stage for the Top Zone V. If you want to kill it quickly, then just bomb it as it flies in. When the fish is on its side it fires a laser forward. When it is facing you it fires a tri-shot. It has a kind of ram move where it goes offscreen and comes back on, but that is it. On the Bottom Z Zone the Flounder comes in facing you on its on power. I guess because it is a tougher fish? Z. Great White (name?) (Zone W) Looks very similar to Savage Guard, but it has a fish underneath its belly that becomes the next miniboss in this level. The great white fires a crescent forward from its top fin, and one fireball with a tri-shot from its mouth. If you stay on the bottom you can avoid its shots, and then pop up during a break and fire to kill it. AA. Cleaning Fish (Zone W) Moves in two loops, and uses what looks like a planet to block attacks. The planet is destructible so fire away to destroy it. Fires two lasers forward above and below it. AB. Green Corontanus (Zone X) A really angular looking horse fish. It fires homing missiles from its nostril, a super fast laser from its belly, and bullets in many directions when it curls up and tries to ram you. AC. Alloy Lantern (Zone Y) In my opinion this is one of the coolest looking mini-bosses. This is an Angler fish, and it looks vicious as heck. I love how as it becomes more damaged the miniboss gets darker. Too bad the only attack to watch out for is the lasers it shoots out of its face. Destroy the tentacle on top of its head, then shoot its face to destroy it. AD. Mudy Crystal (Zone Y) A wannabe man o' war. Shoot its legs first and then the head to kill this, but watch out for the fast repetition of tri-shots, and missiles. After you shoot off its legs it starts shooting faster. AE. Electric Fan (Zone Bottom V) This looks like a sea anemone. If you bomb it you should not have much of a problem. It fires a fast laser from its mouth and fires two homing missiles at you. This mini-boss dies quite quickly. AF. Tough Spring (Zone Bottom V) Tough Spring has a cool attack where it bounces off tiny shrimp upon the bottom of the screen. To destroy it you have to destroy the feelers on its head, it legs, and then the main body. Besides the bouncing shrimp you have to watch out for the laser it shoots out of its ass. This is actually a pretty challenging miniboss. AG. Octopus (Zone Bottom Z) You have to destroy the arms and then the head to be able to defeat this mini- boss. A little mistake here is that they make the Octopus should out seven shots instead of the expected eight. XIII. Enemies Many of the enemies in Super Darius 2 are very similar, but there are unique types and those will not be lumped together. A. Normal Enemies Wave - These enemies usually move in a sine wave pattern, and are the easiest enemies. Flying Fish - Comes out of a sea, with what looks like a shield on. Dies in one hit. Bouncing Ship - This is a rare enemy that simply bounces in place, and fires some bullets. Launcher - These are all very similar. They all shoot some type missile at your ship. Most of these fire homing missiles, but a couple shoot them in a line. Turret - Hangs from the floor or ceiling and fires three shots at a time. Ellipse - An ellipse of tiny little ships. Deadly since they come from the top left of the screen, and can fire at you from behind. Spiked Ball - A blue ball that will appear onscreen, explode, and throw junk in many directions. Then after that it will try to ram you. Gray Fish - One of the toughest enemies in the game. This sucker will come on screen rapidly while firing, then it will try to ram you at high speed. Red Bat - A red bat-looking ship that flies on screen, hovers, and fires in a circle. Demon Ship - An enemy that comes fast on screen and fires lasers. They are quite dangerous. Spinning Shells - A circle made up of spinning shells that fire bullets. Jumper - If you played other Darius games you will recognize this little sucker. Its green, small, and bounces a lot. However, in this game it is not on LSD, and rarely bounces around enough to kill you. Instead it bounces a little bit and fires bullets. Red Missile - They come from either the top or bottom of the screen. Failure to kill it quickly results in it multiplying to cover a good portion of the screen. Then they move forward at you. Do not forget that they also fire lasers foward! Bullet Pods - They are either placed on the ground or fly through space. When you destroy them they explode, shooting bullets out in multiple directions. Platform - Looks just like a platform in an action platformer. Only this moves around firing bullets and lasers. Gray Tank - These slow moving enemies are not much of a threat. They come in large numbers on the screen, but only killing a couple will ensure your safety. Blue Tank - The largest normal enemy in the game. These usually come rapidly from behind you. It is a good thing these things are a rarity found in the later levels. Brain - Cool enemy found in the Upper and Lower Z levels. They come from the front and back while shooting lightning down. Interestingly, the lightning acts as a barrier that prevents shots from going through. Drill - They attach to the bottom or top of the screen, and when you go above or below them they rise or fall. Meteor - This is a rare enemy. Only found in a couple of levels. It just falls at angle toward you from the top of the screen. Tile - A tile. What else should I say? Satellite - Like the tile, it just obstructs your path. B. Special Units Claws - These come in a gently wave. They are gray and have a claw on the bottom. Killing an entire wave will give you either points or a pickup. These are in EVERY level so I will not include in the Enemies list. Red Bomb - A red enemy that has a semi-circular top. Occasionally the top opens up revealing an eye. Shoot or bomb this to kill all the enemies on the screen. This is not really an enemy so it also will not go in the list. This is in most levels. XIV. When it is far away stay near the ground and fire its head.. Do not try any close quarters dodging. 4. Zone J Difficulty:*** Final wave of Claws gives a 1UP. Enemies: Wave Ellipse Launchers Turrets Spinning Shells Obstacle: Gate Lasers Mini-Boss: Red Crab It is a crab, and it jumps, and shoots bubbles. Compared to Red Crab in Sagaia this thing is a joke. Boss: (BC0O) Bald Crab This boss can be vicious at times. XVIII. Earth 1. Zone K Difficulty:** Enemies: Wave Launchers Demon Ships Drills Obstacle: Ball Dispenser Gate Mini-Boss: Odd Fish Has an elongated beak like nose, and a wide flat tail. Has a cool attack where it shoots out a ball and lasers spin out from it as it moves forward. If you stay to the extreme left side of the screen across from its nose you cannot be hit. Boss: (FB30) Yamato When you start the fight you may be surprised to find yourself fighting the sunken Japanese warship Yamato. 2. Zone L Difficulty:**** Enemies: Wave Turrets Launchers Jumper Mini-Boss: Strong Shell I never would have guessed it was a turtle to be honest. It shoots missiles mostly, but it will stick its head out and fire bullets. Boss: (F407) Leadain The toughest boss in the game besides Heat Arrow. 3. Zone M Difficulty:*** Enemies: Wave Launchers Turrets Missile Pods Obstacle: Gate Mini-Boss: Cuttlefish Has two long gray arms that shoot fireballs forward, and also fires the basic tri-shot. Before it leaves it will fire about five lasers at you from its mouth. Boss: (FB30) Yamato When you start the fight you may be surprised to find yourself fighting the sunken Japanese warship Yamato. You need to be careful not to have your ship touch the Yamato, because even though it may lok like it is in the background it is not. Yamato's guns fire little shots at you which are easy to dodge. Zone N Difficulty:**** Enemies: Wave Launchers Red Missiles Demon Ships Missile Pods Drills Obstacle: Gate Mini-Boss: Keen Bayonet Swordfish that flies through the air and cut off parts of the ceiling that fall and can kill you. Boss: (F407) Leadain The toughest boss in the game besides Heat Arrow. The only weak part of this enemy is the core. This boss has 4 arms that shoot out and a tiny yellow eye that comes out. Zone O Difficulty:**** Enemies: Wave Launchers Turrets Spiked Balls Red Missiles Demon Ships Obstacle: Ball Dispenser Mini-Boss: Pink Swordfish This mini-boss is simple. It only has forward attacks. It has some lasers that come out of its top fin and some shots from its mouth. Kill it by shooting its mouth. Boss: (F407) Leadain The toughest boss in the game besides Heat Arrow. Zone P Difficulty:** Enemies: Wave Launchers Meteors Metal Fish Jumper Drills Mini-Boss: Blue Snake Pretty sure this is a Super Darius 2 exclusive. You destroy the spheres on its body to stop it from shooting. Then destroy its head to kill it. Boss: (KN8G) Dark Modon This boss fires multiple homing missiles to start with. 2. Zone Q Difficulty:*** Enemies: Wave Turrets Jumper Launchers Spiked Balls Demon Ships Red Bat Drills Mini-Boss: Mystic Power A snail that does not put up much of a fight. It fires a few shots forward leaving itself completely open to being bombed in the eyes. Boss: (KN8G) Dark Modon This boss fires multiple homing missiles to start with. 3. Zone R Difficulty:*** Enemies: Wave Ellipse Turrets Launchers Jumpers Metal Fish Spiked Balls Demon Ships Drills Obstacle: Giant Spikes Mini-Boss: Fire Star I like the name for this starfish. When it spins slowly it fires tri-shots slower than when it spins quickly. Surprise lasers tend to sneak out and kill you, so stay back a bit to dodge. Boss: (KN8G) Dark Modon This boss fires multiple homing missiles to start with. And to keep you away from the top it has a laser on its back that pops out. If you keep staying above it, Dark Modon fires shots vertically that shoot forward horizontally with across from you. Zone S Difficulty:**** Enemies: Wave Turrets Launchers Demon Ships Spiked Balls Red Missiles Drills Mini-Boss: Iron Hammer A hammerhead shark is only vulnerable on the bottom gun. Its only abilities are forward shots. Boss: (KN8G) Dark Modon This boss fires multiple homing missiles to start with. And to keep you away from the top it has a laser on its back that pops out. If you keep staying above it, Dark Modon fires shots vertically that shoot forward horizontally with across from you. The Dark Modon has a blind spot to the left of the screen right above its head so you can bomb it to death. 5. Zone T Difficulty:**** Enemies: Wave Launchers Metal Fish Jumper Spiked Balls Spinning Shells Drills Mini-Boss: Buddy Blazer It shoots tiny fish at you that fly past you then fly in the same direction you are going. The trick is that they as they are shot out they can kill you, and as they fly they shoot. If you stay perfectly even with the nose and constantly fire then you will never be harmed, and you can kill the boss easily. Boss: (KN8G) Dark Modon This boss fires multiple homing missiles to start with. And to keep you away from the top it has a laser on its back that pops out. If you keep staying above it, Dark Modon fires shots vertically that shoot forward horizontally with across from you. It continually tries to hit you with a container that bursts apart firing three shots from its mouth. The Dark Modon has a blind spot to the left of the screen right above its head so you can bomb it to death. 6. Zone U Difficulty:**** Enemies: Wave Turrets Demon Ships Jumpers Launchers Ellipse Red Missiles Drills Obstacle: Giant Spikes Mini-Boss: My Home Daddy Love the name for this hermit crab. It has a port hole on the top of its home that fires a fast laser forward. Its only other attack is to fire balls in an arc that explode when they hit the ground. Zone Top Z Difficulty:***** Enemies: Platform Wave Missile Pods Launchers Tiles Demon Ships Metal Fish Red Missiles Drills Brains Mini-Boss: Dual Sheers Dual Sheers here is a very small version of Dual Sheers in the previous Darius games. It only has forward laser attacks, and you become untouchable when staying at the top. Might as well bomb him to death. Mini-Boss: Thin Fish It is green on top and white on the bottom. Its main attack consists of trying to ram you after spraying some bullets forward. Shoot anywhere on it to kill. Boss: (TW2F) Heat Arrow Toughest boss in the game. On Hard this guy is a monster that takes over 15 minutes to kill if you do not use bombs. 2. Zone Top V Difficulty:*** Enemies: Wave Ellipse Launchers Meteors Spiked Ball Red Missiles Mini-Boss: Great Thing Great Thing is an epic boss in other Darius games. It has forward lasers, bottom diagonal lasers, and fish that fly out of its mouth in an arc moving upward. Mini-Boss: Flounder Demon Ships carry this miniboss on stage for the Top Zone V. Boss: (RS93) Mech. Bio Strong 3. Zone W Difficulty:**** Enemies: Wave Launchers Red Missiles Demon Ships Blue Tanks Missile Pods Drills Mini-Boss: Great White Looks very similar to Savage Guard, but it has a fish underneath its belly that becomes the next miniboss in this level. The great white fires a crescent forward from its top fin, and one fireball with a tri-shot from its mouth. If you stay on the bottom you can avoid its shots, and then pop up during a break and fire to kill it. Mini-Boss: Cleaning Fish Moves in two loops, and uses what looks like a planet to block attacks. The planet is destructible so fire away to destroy it. Fires two lasers forward above and below it. Boss: (RS93) Mech. NOTE** To get an ending using an emulator, I had to save state during this boss, then reload from the state, then kill the boss to be able to get ending. 4. Zone X Difficulty:*** Enemies: Wave Launchers Meteors Blue Tanks Satellites Metal Fish Ellipse Platforms Drills Mini-Boss: Green Corontanus A really angular looking horse fish. It fires homing missiles from its nostril, a super fast laser from its belly, and bullets in many directions when it curls up and tries to ram you. Boss: (IO0R) Moderato Moderato starts off on the right side of the stage firing missiles at you. Destroy the yellow hair-like tentacles coming out from its head and jaw, and it will start spinning around you. Keep firing while making sure the boss does not bump into you. Keep firing and you should not die. 5. Zone Y Difficulty:** Enemies: Wave Tiles Launchers Red Missiles Mini-Boss: Alloy Lantern In my opinion this is one of the coolest looking mini-bosses. This is an Angler fish, and it looks vicious as heck. I love how as it becomes more damaged the miniboss gets darker. Too bad the only attack to watch out for is the lasers it shoots out of its face. Destroy the tentacle on top of its head, then shoot its face to destroy it. Mini-Boss: Mudy Crystal A wannabe man o' war. Shoot its legs first and then the head to kill this, but watch out for the fast repetition of tri-shots, and missiles. After you shoot off its legs it starts shooting faster. Boss: (RS93) Mech. Bio Strong This is one of the most creepy bosses ever. When it appears a baby starts crying. It is in a fetal-like position. Mini-Boss: Octopus You have to destroy the arms and then the head to be able to defeat this mini- boss. A little mistake here is that they make the Octopus should out seven shots instead of the expected eight. Boss: (TW2F) Heat Arrow Toughest boss in the game. On Hard this guy is a monster that takes over 15 minutes to kill. What makes this guy so hard is that you can only harm him at two times. Zone Bottom V Difficulty:**** Enemies: Wave Ellipse Launchers Spinning Shells Tiles Grey Tanks Red Missiles Drills Mini-Boss: Electric Fan This looks like a sea anemone. If you bomb it you should not have much of a problem. It fires a fast laser from its mouth and fires two homing missiles at you. This mini-boss dies quite quickly. Mini-Boss: Tough Spring Tough Spring has a cool attack where it bounces off tiny shrimp upon the bottom of the screen. To destroy it you have to destroy the feelers on its head, it legs, and then the main body. Besides the bouncing shrimp you have to watch out for the laser it shoots out of its ass. This is actually a pretty challenging miniboss. Boss: (RS93) Mech. Bio Strong This is one of the most creepy bosses ever. When it appears a baby starts crying. It is in a fetal-like position. Hisayoshi Ogura was the one who made the music for Sagaia. So then, the makers of this game had T's Music play Hisayoshi Ogura's music for the CD quality capability of the Turbo CD system. T's Music does quite a good job. Not as good as in Lords of Thunder, but still quite good. 1 Warning (0:47) 2 Data Track (1:13) 3 Olga Breeze (4:00) 4 Muse Valley (3:52) 5 Jamming (3:59) 6 Cynthia (4:13) 7 Planet Blue (4:55) 8 To Nari (4:03) 9 Say Papa (4:02) 10 Boss 1 (4:09) 11 Boss 2 (3:15) 12 Boss 3 (2:58) 13 Boss 4 (3:18) 14 Round Clear (1:03) 15 All Clear (1:06) 16 Name Registration (1:10) 17 Ending (2:33) 18 Cry Baby (0:14) 19 Data Track (1:09) Music found at http://www.tagtuner.com/music/albums/Hisayoshi-Ogura/Super-Darius-2/album- v28da56 XXIII.
