Glad that's out of the way. ~~~~~Section II: A Brief Opening~~~~~ This is the part where I tell you a bit about the game, the guide, and maybe even me, if I feel up to it. The Game: This is a side-scrolling airplane simulation game. You shoot stuff, get money, buy cool things to shoot more stuff, the end. That's a basic overview. That's not giving the game the credit it deserves. This game is fantastic. But it does give you an idea of what happens. The Guide: This guide exists solely for the purpose of showing the readers how to defeat various bosses within the game. As a bonus, I'll outline weapon effects, items, and the characters. Me: The section you've all been waiting for. If you have any pressing need to file complaints with me for no reason, please feel free to keep them to yourself. If you have suggestions, or tips, I'd be glad to hear them. You can do 2 things to reach me: (1.) Email me at Jammerbam@hotmail.com. This has a slight chance at working, because I rarely check my email. (2.) Go to the social board RI. Search for the word Party on the search feature. You should find a topic called the RI Party. If you post something in that topic, I'll be sure to respond to it soon. If I'm not there, ask someone to copy it, and hold onto it for the time being until I arrive. That marks the end of the overview. ~~~~~Section III: Game Controls~~~~~ For the SNES Control Pad, the controls are as follows: Arrow Pad: Move the plane in pressed direction. 8 different directions are possible. Start: Pause. Y: Vulcan cannon.* (Main gun) B: Special Weapons.*(The cool things I was talking about earlier.) X: Change between special weapons.* L, R, and Select have no function. *These can be changed; they are just the default. Go to the options menu at the main screen. Also, when you visit the options menu, you'll see a difficulty setting. For most bosses, I'll be showing you how to beat them on easy. Harder levels just mean more Vulcan cannon fire is needed to finish them. The strategies are still useful* The Arrow Pad: The most important button in the game, it makes your ship move. Though you're nearly always moving forward, AKA, the screen is moving to the right, you can adjust where you are on that screen by moving your plane with this thingamy. Useful, indeed. The Vulcan Cannon: This is your primary weapon. Always useful in a pinch, you may want to be always firing it. Just hold down the fire button. But there's a catch. If you just hold down the fire button, the weapon will stop firing after 5 seconds. Not good. There are two ways you can fight this: You can jam the button like mad, which will be tiring but effective, or Hold it for short intervals, then releasing after about 3 seconds. As soon as you let go, however, resume pressing the button. This should keep up a nearly steady stream of hot-burning death into your opponents. The Special Weapons: These babies pack a lot more punch than your standard atom bomb. However, there's a catch. Most of them you can't use right after the other, and you have to buy them before each level. Nevertheless, they are useful for clearing out standard enemies, and almost neccesairy for the bosses. If you die when flying, and you have many special weapons, you'll have wasted all that money. However, if you beat the level, all special weapons you didn't use will be refunded back to you! I'll be going more depth into this later, so don't you worry. The Changer: This button changes which of the special weapons you're using right now. I recently found this can even be done when paused! ~~~~~Section IV: Weapon and Item Bios~~~~~ Weapons: This section has all the special weapons, and descriptions. Enjoy! Cluster Shot. (Comes in 3s and 10s. 3000$ and 10000$ respectively.) Creates a ring of explosions around your craft. It's excellent for clearing the skies if you're in trouble. Phoenixes. (20 and 30, 10000$ and 15000$ respectively.) Lock onto to targets and rams into them at high speeds. It fires two at once, for the price of one. Falcons: (10, 20 and 30, 3000$, 6000$ and 9000$ respectively.) It drops to the ground, and skims along it until it hits something. It can be dropped from anywhere, and hit a target at anytime, even before it hits the ground. Bulpups: (10 and 20, 15000$ and 30000$ respectively.) Fires Fives missiles, which zoom off in a 45-degree radius from your plane. Good for bosses, because if each one hits, it'll cause enormous damage. Super Shells: (10000 and 20000, for 10000$ and 20000$ respectively.) Fires a corkscrewing beam at the opponent. Very fast, it's good for bosses as its damage is high. However, due to its small size, it'll miss most small ships. Thunder Lasers: (10 and 20, for 8000$ and 16000$ respectively.) Fires a 3-pronged thunderbolt ahead of you. Fairly damaging, this is good for both bosses and clearing the skies ahead. Bombs: (2000$ for 50, only comes in 50.) Small blast radius, slow drop, low damage. Good things? Yes, actually. They can be fired quickly one right after the other, to bombard (pun intended) bosses, and get the jump on land based forces. If you have good timing, you can even take out enemy planes. Nalpalms: (10 and 20, 5000$ and 10000$ dollars respectively. Me nalpalms, king of bombs. You target. YOU GO BOOM! *BOOM* Oh yes. These things are deadly. They deal huge damage in a flaming attack, which spreads a good distance in either direction. Boss killers and land destroyers, these are among my favourite weapons. Gun-Pod: (10 for 15000$ or 20 for 30000$) Fun, fun, fun, til daddy took the gun pods away... These things can absolutely wreak havoc if played right. If you're having trouble clearing all the enemies away, whip out one of these. It'll fire a burst of Vulcan cannon fire diagonally forward, mowing down the enemy. It'll last for about 5 seconds. Sailing missiles: (50 for 15000$) Imagine gravity was reversed. You would be dropping bombs upwards, right? That's these things. Not very useful for the most part, they are a great help for the ceiling boss. MEGA CRUSH: (1 or 2, 5000$ or 10000$) BUM-BUM-BUUUUMMM... The ultimate weapon. It fires a huge bomb into the sky, which explodes, raining fire, and casting all the infidels to the fiery cesspits of Hell. Or something like that. Anyways, it's unbelievably powerful. It's necessary for many bosses. But don't waste it! Never use it during the actual level. Use something else, that's less valuable. Items Through out the levels, you will find a multitude of items. Though there are many during the levels, I'll only tell you about the ones that appear during a boss fight, or are very useful for the boss fight. Orange Power-Up: Increases your Vulcan POW gauge by one. Collect these to slowly get your Vulcan cannon closer to levelling up. Blue Power-Up: Increases your Vulcan POW gauge by 3. Collect these to quickly get your Vulcan cannon closer to levelling up. These are rarer than their orange counter parts. 2 Horizontal Blue Bars: Partially refills your fuel tank. Barrel like thingy (Weapon Rack): Gives you extras of all Special Weapons you bought at the start of the course. Does nothing if you bought none. Star: Gives you 5000$ Bomb (Mech) (Metal thingy with red center.) : Destroys all enemies on screen. Fuel Tank: Refills your tank more than the two blue bars. Unicorn: Gives you a shield, which will absorb 3 attacks before vanishing. ~~~~~Section V: Character and Plane Bios~~~~~ Characters: Mickey Skymon: Can use more special weapons than the others. Recommendation: If you've tried the game with Greg, and you found yourself using plenty of special weapons, Mickey would be a good choice for you. Greg Gates: Recovers form damage faster than the others. Recommendation: I'd try Greg one your first play time. He's the best for beginners, since he can recover from damage very quickly. Shin Kazama: Powers up Vulcan cannon faster than the others. Recommendation: Only use Shin if you want a challenge or use the Vulcan cannon like mad. Shin powers up very quickly, laying waste to the foes, but has a long recovery time. Planes: When I describe the planes, bear in mind that I'll be following this formula for the Special weapons each can handle. Ex: Cluster Shot (3) The Cluster Shot stand for the weapon. The number shows how many times you can use it. F8E: Starting plane. All around average. Its Vulcan shot can reach 5, and has decent manoeuvrability. It can handle the Cluster Shot (3), Bombs (50), and the Mega Crush (1). F20: 250000$ This plane can attack in a variety of ways. It has the same Vulcan cannon abilities as the F8E, but has new weapons. It can use the phoenixes (20), the falcons (20), bulpups (10), bombs (50) and a Mega Crush. F14D: 300000$ This plane is the same as the others in regard to the Vulcan cannon, but it flies faster. It can handle Cluster Shots (10), Super Shells (10), Thunder lasers (10), and a Mega Crush. A10A: 350000$ This plane has a special feature. It can fire both sideways, and diagonally down to the front. Very useful. However, the shots can only be powered up to level 3. It's a bit slow. It can handle Falcons (30), bombs (50), nalpalms (10) and a Mega Crush. YF23: 500000$ This plane can bring its Vulcan power up to 6. It's fairly fast, and can handle upwards weapons. Also, it can fool all homing missiles! It can handle Phoenixes (10), Falcons (10), Gunpods (10), sailing missiles (50) and a Mega Crush. F200: 1000000$ The Ultimate plane. Is quite fast, and has a Vulcan cannon of up to seven! Best of all, not only can it handle everything, it can hold extra amounts of many, like two mega crushes! Has Cluster Shot (10), Phoenixes (30), Falcons (30), Bulpups (20), Super Shells (20), Thunder Lasers (20), bombs (50), nalpalms (20), gun pods, (30) Sailing missiles (50) and TWO Mega Crushes! Oh no! Here they come! It's... VI: The Big-Bad Bosses Yes, the part you've very likely been waiting for. Here are the bosses, in all there glory. As a note, these bosses give you no way of knowing how much they can take. If what I say doesn't work completely (say you're on a harder difficulty setting) to kill the boss, just keep hammering away. It'll work eventually. (1.) The Mega-Tank: Difficulty: * star. He's in the very first level. Attacks: Missile Battery: can angle upwards to fire straight path missiles; decent damage. Small missiles: Homing missiles that do slight damage. Shoot them down. Weak points: Everywhere. This guy's a push over. Anywhere on his body, if hit, will take damage. So constantly fire. If you're trying the level for the first time, here's your strategy. Preparation stage: In the beginning you only have the F8E, so buy your cluster shots with all your money. Try to save them for the boss, but use them if not doing so means taking damage. During the level, try to shoot down all the red coloured enemies, and then grab their POW upgrades. You could use the level 2 Vulcan cannon. Boss fight: As soon as you see the boss, fire like mad. He'll launch his first round of big missiles; stay low to avoid them. Soon he'll fire some small missiles. The Big missiles are fired in a timed period, so plan carefully. When the big missiles go past, fly up and shoot the small ones. The Big ones can't be destroyed. Eventually, if you've been firing this whole time, you should see a small explosion on front of the tank. This is good. Now, if you keep it up, you'll destroy him shortly. In case small missiles surround you, use your cluster shots. They'll all be destroyed, doing decent damage to the boss. For the second strategy, you must have already tried the level. If you got to the boss, but died, you should have over 10000$ just from shooting the small planes. If you died in the level, keep trying until you get 10000$. Preparation stage: Once you do, by the Clusters again, and a mega crush. Play the level however you like, just save the mega crush. Boss fight: Here we go! As soon as he's entirely on the screen, use the mega crush. Kablamo. Now, he should be nearly dead, so just follow my first strategy for the remainder of the battle. Hey! Great! We just defeated our first boss! But there's more up ahead... (2.) The Big Stealth Bomber: Difficulty: ** stars. He's in the first plane level you see. Attacks: Directly behind him he'll shot out a stream of fireballs from his engine. Be careful about these. From on top of him, he'll fire two balls into the air, which will explode in the form of multiple Vulcan cannons in 8 different directions. Lastly, if you fly underneath him, he'll drop big bombs on you. Weak points: It can be shot anywhere. Preparation: Despite all this, he's no too hard, simply because he leaves himself wide open at the start for a huge pounding. Choose you F8E, and all the super weapons you can buy. Try not to use to many bombs or the Mega Crush during the level. Boss Fight: When you notice the enemies have stopped coming, change to the small bombs and fire near the top of the screen. Just go up and down, shooting like mad in the upper half. You should hit something invisible, just floating in the air. It'll change if hit enough into some health thingumy. Grab it, and it'll heal you. Now, fly down to the lower left part of the screen, but not all the way to the bottom. You'll see why. The Big Stealth ship will slowly rise up, not attacking. So, the second you see it, start dropping bombs. It won't even notice you, so just stay above it and keep attacking you should run out when he start going hard. As soon as he fires his first Vulcan bombs, fire the Mega Crush. POW! He'll start smoking in one of his engines. But while you do this, fly underneath him, and to his backside. The Mega Crush should deal with the bombs he dropped. Now, if you did this right, he'll be on fire, smoking, and you should have barely a scratch. But the fight isn't over yet. If you have any clusters, you them, then fire like crazy at the back of the ship. Dodge any Vulcan bombs, and duck back down if he shoots fire from his engines. Soon, the Stealth Bomber will perish. Hip-Hip Hurrah! The enemy's air force is down for the count! But what's that up on the horizon... (3.) The Mini Stealth Bombers (3): Difficulty: *** to **** stars. In the second airplane stage. This is the one level I couldn't beat for the longest time. If you have trouble on the level, I whole-heartedly suggest you check another guide on this fantastic site. Just watch out for the enemies behind you. Attacks: They fire a big bomb ahead of them, which explodes with a decent blast radius. So don't go in front of them. Also shoot out fireballs, like their bigger cousin. So don't go to close behind them. Solution? Coming up. Weak points: They can be hit anywhere. Preparation: Buy every thing your starting plane can handle. You'll need them. Boss fight: Now, depending on how well you did the level, you may have many of the smaller planes dogging you. If there are less than 4, just avoid them, and wait for the stealth bombers to arrive. Then, crank out the Mega Crush. ZAP! All the little planes will be destroyed, and the stealth bombers will be weakened. Stay above them, and drop bombs on the their heads, or go amidst them, and use the clusters. Either way, a few shots from the Vulcan cannon will finish the job. If there are more 4 or more bugging you, whip out the clusters. Try to hit as many as possible; don't hold back. Use all three effectively. This should dramatically hurt their forces. Then, when the stealth bombers come, destroy the small planes and hurt the big ones with the Mega Crush. Then, stay overhead, and drop bombs until they meat there demise. WOOOOOO! Another level bites the dust! But wait... There's something in the water... (4.) Submarine: Seavet: Difficulty: *** stars. The submarine in the water near the base. You'll know it when you see it. Attacks: Nuclear bomb. It fires this directly ahead of it, or when it rises, up and on an angle towards the left. Also can shoot missiles from it's back, either while under water or above. If above the missiles will fly straight up. If hit, they'll divide into smaller bombs, which will also do damage. Otherwise, they just go straight up. If under water, they rise up a distance, then divide anyway, just for the Hell of it, to rain down on you. They fall fairly slowly. And, to top it off, small planes occasionally fly from the sides of the level, ramming you or firing. Wow. Quite a bit, eh? But don't worry. We'll pull through. Weak points: Everywhere can be damage. But the best spot is the short tower on the front end. Shoot or bomb that. Preparation: Buy, buy, buy. Everything for your first plane is needed. Boss fight: There is no level to the boss, so you'll just start out flying over the sea. But wait... Something's wrong... There! A plane flies from the right side of the screen. Avoid or kill it. But either way, it heralds the coming of the sub. It'll slowly rise from the depths, like some ancient leviathan. So, like the ancient people would have done, fire your Vulcan cannon at it. As soon as it's fully risen, it'll fire a nuke out of the front of it. Fly up over it, and switch to bombs. Bomb it until it disappears under the waves. Now, it'll do one of two things. It'll either launch itself into the air at a forty-five degree angle and to the left, and fire a nuke, or stay under water and shoot up missiles. Be careful, though. You don't want to get hit by the submarine it self, when it comes back down from it's leap. Continue bombing it and dodging until you run out. Then, when it next surfaces, fire the Mega Crush. Blamo! Big damage. Then, while still dodging what it sends at you, go down to the front of the sub. Blast it with the Vulcan cannon, then rise before it fires the nuke out it's front. Then use a Cluster shot. Rinse, and repeat. If you run out if Clusters, just blast away with the V.C. Soon, the thing will sink for the last time. All right! You're almost half way there! Now for the real challenges. (5.) The Ground Carrier: Difficulty: *** if you use the right plane, **** otherwise. It the top most stage, in the desert. Attacks: He can shoot missiles from four holes in his surface, and even though they come in 3 or 4, he can't fire all four at once. Just avoid them. He also can launch planes from two ports on his side, but only one at a time. As well as that, he can raises a section of the carrier, (can anyone say, weak point?) which has two attacks. The part that can be damaged shoots missiles straight ahead. They can't touch you if you stay above them. Finally, the second part can move about, and fire bullets around your location. (This is important for my second strategy.) Weak points: All things that attack are weak points; even the small missile batteries can be hurt. But the main weakness is the thing that pops up at the far end of the carrier. You must remember that the thing that shoots bullets is invulnerable; only the big missile launcher section can be damaged. Preparation: You have two choices. Either keep the first plane, and buy all the weapons, or buy the A10A for 350000$. If you don't have enough money, fight those trucks you see driving about. Just use the clusters to take them all out in a few passes. (You'll see what I mean.) If you buy the new plane, get everything. Make sure you get nalpalms, and a Mega Crush at least. Boss fight: First strategy for starting plane: You'll find yourself with a lull in the fighting. The land carrier will roll onto the screen from the right. Take heed; if you fire your Vulcan cannon around the bottom half of the screen above the carrier, you'll find a weapons rack. Get it; it's helpful. Now, get the Mega-Crush out. As soon as the thing lifts its projection, use it. Shapwang! It should get rid of all the weapons flying around for a moment, so now's your chance. Switch to bombs, and before the projection comes up, bomb the two airplane holders. A few each, they'll be gone. Now, fly over to and lightly beyond where the projection pops up. When it does so, drop the bombs. Only about 5-7 for each rise, though. Any more will miss as it sinks back down. Keep this up until you run out. Now, if you have any clusters left, use those each rise. Finally, if you run out of each, fly down and shoot the thing as it rises. Kablam, kabloom, it's dead. Second strategy: This way is a bit easier for beginners. You'd better hope you have at least a level three Vulcan cannon. Now, the same goes for the boss, up to where you'd start dropping bombs on the projections. This time, use two nalpalms each rise. This should do some serious damage. Finally, switch to bombs. This should do it. If not, use the falcons. And, if by some unholy miracle, you miss with most of the bombs, just shoot it. Congrats! A spearhead of the attack is gone! Now come the battle ship... (6.) Battleship: Minks. Difficulty: **** with A10A, ****** with F8E. The base in the water. Attacks: Oh my God. So many attacks. >_> All right, here goes. Stationed at five points on the ship are weak little cannons that fire lasers. A few shots, they're toast. There are 1 in the front, 2 near the middle, and 2 at the end of the ship. Then there are 2 missile batteries, one facing each way mid-way across the ship. They're fairly weak as well. Then, there are 4 huge cannons that can fire up to 3 shots in different directions. They've got load of health. They're your main priority. Weak points: All weapons can be hurt, as well as two towers mid way through the ship. You must destroy all the attachments for the ship to sink. Preparation stage: Simple. Now would be a good time to buy the A10A, but you don't have to. I haven't beaten it without the A10A, but I suppose you could try with the F8E. Good luck, though. It'll be a doozy. If you choose the F8E, just buy everything, and be very, very careful when shooting with the V. cannon. If you choose the A10A, you should have an easier time. Buy everything for the A10A. This strategy is for the A10A, though it could be adapted for the F8E. I, however, am too lazy to do so. Sorry. Boss fight: Hmmm... Flying over the still waves is almost peaceful... But don't be fooled. Fly up to the top of the screen, and shoot the air. A unicorn will pop out. This means you'll have a 3-hit shield. And if you look at the bottom-right hand corner of the screen, you'll see the ship sailing onto the screen. Soon, you'll see a small gun turret. Shoot it dead; it'll die in about 5 to 10 hits. Once done, whip out you bombs. You should see a big gun turret appear. Blast it with the V.C, until the next one appears. Then, use the bombs to paste them each, flying back and forth over the two of them. Now, when the first gun turret is just about off the left side of the stage, whip out the Mega Crush. Zap-wing! It should destroy most of the little things on the level, though not the turrets. It might also hit one of the towers. Then, use V.C. to blast away at the towers. You can hit it with both side ones and diagonal shots if you fast. Switch to nalpalms, and try to blast both towers with. With any luck, if you shooting while doing this, you should destroy the first tower and some of the smaller cannons. But don't waste to many of the nalpalms; you'll need them. Now, you'll see the last 2 big cannons. Paste them with nalpalms, and your bullets. But now is tricky part. Once you see the end of the ship, start shooting the air. Hopefully, you'll find the weapons rack, which looks like a barrel. Very useful, it'll give you four more nalpalms, as well as added ammo for your other weapons. Now, fly below the lip of the ship, just above the water. You're safe now. You'll then turn around, and head back at the ship. Now, fly just above the height of the surface of the deck, but still over the water, and shoot the little cannons from as far to the right as possible. They'll die soon. Then, do the same for the big cannon. With any luck, it'll blow quickly if you hit with about 5 nalpalms beforehand. Do the same for the next, and don't be afraid to switch to the bombs if you don't want to waster more nalpams. You should have about 20 more thanks to the weapons rack, so even though you may have run out before, you'll have some now. Hopefully you can take out the big cannon. If not, you'll have to take another swing at it. But that's later. For now, destroy the other tower with your V.C. You'll soon find yourself back near the beginning. Shoot the two cannons with your diagonal Vulcan. Hopefully, the one you hit with the Mega Crush will crash and burn. Then, you'll prepare to take another swing, unless you managed to get them all. Finally, shoot the big cannon on the front if you missed it before, and it'll be over. Unless, of course, you didn't get the second cannon in the back. If not, just keep on repeating the process. Eventually, you will win. Wow. That took a while. But hey, good job! The enemy's navy is down! Now, just one more boss to go until we can really start the attack! (7.) The Forest base: Difficulty: *** stars with right plane, **** with other. Is found in the middle of the map. Attacks: This thing has 6 big cannons, with slow, large bullets. The can take a beating. Also, it has 2 domes, which periodically releases airplanes. Also, there are 2 HUGE cannons that can fire two separate lasers. Be careful with these; they can catch you off guard if you miss-time your approach. Finally, the centre can unleash two waves of homing missiles, about 10 in all. Weak points: As usual, the weak points include all the weapons. But they don't affect the bases health. Only the big dome on the centre actually takes damage, but only when it opens to fire missiles. Preparation stage: Now, this can be done with the F8E, but it's not easy. Firstly, buy it all. Now, I'm going to outline the strategy for both the F8E, and the A10A. They are nearly the same, for the main part. Boss fight: Hmm? No one's attacking. Have the retreated? No. You're at the forest base. Now, you'll see a cannon appear from the right. It's on top op a section of wall. Now, if you fly just a little bit higher than it and far to the left, you can still shoot it, but its bullets will pass under you, because even though the cannon can angle, it can't angle to that particular degree. This is called the sweet spot. Now, with either plane, if you just shoot like mad, you should destroy the first cannon quickly. Then, you'll see a dome. It will open, and a plane will pop out! But stay firing. You'll take it out the second it appears. You'll see another cannon, just behind the dome. Stay at this altitude; it'll never hit you. You'll destroy it, but probably not before the next one appears. Keep shooting though; it'll still be safe where you are. Some more planes might come out of the dome, but just avoid them. Another dome will appear on the right, but you can just avoid the plane it shoots. Now, if you've been concentrating your fire on the first three cannons, they'll all be gone. But... Holy cow! On the right side of the screen come a HUGE cannon! But don't be daunted. If you have the A10A, here's where the strategy differs. A10A section strategy: Now, use one of your cannons to blast the lower, small cannon, and the upper one to take out the big cannon. If you destroy the small cannon, focus both your turrets on the big cannon, and switch to nalpalms. Blast it twice quickly, and with a bit more Vulcan fire, it should explode. Fly over the burning wreckage, and you'll see the big dome. As soon as it opens, drop two nalpalms on it, and fire at the missiles. It'll soon retract and hide in its shield; it can't be hurt. Now, switch to the Mega Crush. On the horizon you'll see another huge turret. Open up fire on it, and the second the central part pops up, use the Mega Crush. Biff! Both the cannon and the core are now much weakened. Keep up the fire on the huge cannon; it'll soon explode. Fly over the wreckage, and blast at the two smaller cannons with your V.C. If you fire at the sky around where the second cannon is, you find an item that refills you health! Grab it, get ready to turn about and take another swing at the boss. As soon as you're around completely, start firing bombs at each cannon, as well as shooting them. They'll die quickly if you hit them before hand enough. Now, if you've done this right, all or nearly all of the turrets will be gone. Just the core is left. So, switch to nalpalms, and use two each time it pops up. This should so it, and win the day for the U.N. Squadron! F8E section strategy: This time around, focus all your hopefully level 5 V.C at the big gun turret; the little one isn't a threat. Don't waste anything else on it. The big one should blow, and you can then fly over it. Now, you'll be at the centre. This time, just fly low and shoot the hell out of it. When it retracts, switch to the Mega Crush. When the next huge turret pops into view, and the centre is open again, use it. Biff! Then, fire a little at the remaining huge turret; it won't last long. Use the clusters shots or bombs to help take out the next two small turrets, and fly down and shoot above the last small cannon to grab the health if you need it. Turn about, and head back to the centre, destroying what you missed the last time. When at the centre, the first time it opens, use your cannon. If that doesn't work, when you fly over it and it opens next time, drop your bombs or use your clusters until it blow. You may need to take another swing at this part to blow the base and beat the boss. Okay! Project 4 is on the defensive! Push the attack! (8.) The Jumbo-Jet: Difficulty: **** with the right plane, ****** with the A10A, and ******* with the F8E. Is the lower of the two new levels. Attacks: The Jet can shoot a big ball into the air, which explodes into a bunch of homing missiles. But here's a tip. If you can avoid them for a bit, they'll lose track and fly in whatever direction they were previously heading. They'll just ignore you. It can drop huge missiles, which either just sink if you're not there, or shoot straight ahead if you are. Finally, when it rockets off the stage to the right, the flames from it's jet will hurt you. Weak points: The whole thing is vulnerable. Preparation stage: Now, here's the critical choice. Do you have more than 700000$? If so, you may want to attack the small tucks until you get about 1100000$. Then you can buy the F200, and have enough to buy the clusters, nalpalms, super shells, and Mega Crushes! Did you hear that? Mega CrushES? You get two! Woo! Or, you can stick with the A10A, and buy everything for it. It's harder, but useful if you're low on cash. Even so, if you don't mind the boring wait, you could fight trucks until you get enough either way. I'll describe the hard way first, with the A10A. Boss fight: A10A style: All right. You'll see two ships, one orange, one purple. DON'T FLY ABOVE THEM. I REPEAT. DON'T FLY ABOVE THEM. Go below. Because just then, once they are gone, the Jet will... Jet across the top of the screen. That's why you flew low. Now, it'll come from either the middle, or the top of the right side of the screen. I don't know about the bottom. Either way, fly above it and drop as many nalpalms as possible on it. I can get about four. Then, just shoot it while avoiding it, and the missiles. Try not to get above it now, because it'll fly up and crash into you. Eventually, its engines will start up, and it'll fly off the screen. Watch the flames from the engines; they hurt. Soon, it'll appear on the right side of the screen again. Keep up using the nalpalms, until you run out. Than, when it comes back the next time, use the Mega Crush. Fizzle! It'll do serious damage. Now, you use bombs and Vulcan cannons to finish it off. F200 style: Much simpler. You should have at least a level 5 Vulcan cannon, maybe 6. The same goes for the two ship at the beginning, as was in the last style. This time, though, have your Mega Crushes out. When it slowly flies in from the right, use it, then fire your Vulcan cannon. Poof! It'll sustain some damage. Keep blasting it, and it'll fly off again. Remember, there may be time when you'll hardly get a shot in thanks to the missiles. Just bide your time. When it slides in a second time, use the other Mega Crush. Another poof! Then, change to super shells, and blast the thing from the rear. Soon, it'll go down. If you miss a lot, or screw up, use the nalpalms or clusters to finish the job. F8E style: Just grab everything. Even if every single one of your weapons hits, it won't be enough. You'll need to be very careful at whittling it's health down. It can be done, but it's not easy. That's all I can say, other than don't get hit. All right! Project 4 is on it's finally leg! Just one more boss until the final fight! (9.) The Ceiling boss: Difficulty: ******* with the F200, nigh impossible with anything else. Attacks: The boss itself can only use two flamethrowers on either side of it to attack. The real threat is the missile launchers and flamethrowers that slide along the bottom. They're fairly weak, but troublesome in numbers. Preparation stage: This is arguably harder than the final boss if you're not ready. Chances are, the first 5 or so times you try, you will not best it. Still, it's worth a shot. People will invariably use different strategies, though I find this one works for me. With the F200, buy the clusters, phoenixes, nalpalms, sailing missiles, and the Mega Crushes. Boss fight: All right... You're slowly flying though the cave. You notice tracks, running along the ground and across the ceiling. You switch to ceiling missiles. Suddenly, from the top of the screen and to the right, a huge form appears. It's the boss! Its only weak point is a glowing centre. Fire sailing missiles from below up at the core. Things will start to roll in from off the side. Shoot any coming from the right, and fly over then shoot those from the left before they fire. All the while, use the sailing missiles whenever possible. Oh no! There are too many enemies! Use a Mega Crush to blow them to smithereens! Bam! Remember, the second the missile leaves your ship, you're invulnerable. Now, switch back to the sailing missiles, and repeat until you run out of missiles, or you use your next Mega Crush. Then, switch to phoenixes, and stay low and centred between the two huge flamethrowers. Fire them constantly, but don't let them hit targets in front of you. Shoot the front target down so the missiles concentrate on the boss or the enemies behind you. Soon, the thing will turn red. If you've used all your sailing missiles before, it'll be destroyed. If not, switch back to them and keep at it. And, if by some twist of fate, you miss with most, switch to cluster to finish the job. As a side note, if you ever get really swamped by foes, use the nalpalms to clear them out and buy some breathing space. Finally! The U.N. Squadron has nearly won the day! Up next... The Project 4 boss! But before that, let's take a little time out. Section 10: The Spy plane and Project 4 Mega Ship. You should make sure of a few things before you try this level. Do you have 300000$ bucks? If so, you're good to go. Was the last boss very, very hard, or just difficult? If the later, this boss shouldn't be too hard. Buy what you need the first time. If the later, try the level with only clusters, and if you reach the boss like that, you're fine. If not, just keep trying. ~~~~~SPECIAL SECTION: BEFORE THE BOSS~~~~~ Gasp! Something new! Well, for this level, some power ups you find will be nearly essential. I'll give their locations now. Weapons rack: When you leave the rock tunnels, and enter the metal sections, you encounter an area where the ground dip down under and over hang, then back up into another area. Now, get your Cluster out, and fly into the new area. Quickly blast it to take all the enemies out of the way. In the upper left-hand corner, there is a weapon rack hidden. Use another cluster if you missed it the first time, and grab it. Then you'll have ~~~3~~~ Mega Crushes! Awesome! Unicorn: Just after the section with all the cubes following the tracks, you'll see a small hole in the ceiling, with a single turret. Use another cluster, and a unicorn will appear. Be quick; it'll go into the wall if you screw up. Then you'll have a shield for the boss! The Spy Plane. All right, first up, the Spy plane: Difficulty: **** stars. Attacks: This thing has a medley of attacks. Firstly, it's top can fire missiles into the air at an alarming rate, so don't fly above it. Second, it can drop something to the ground, which will launch as a missile when you fly above it. Thirdly, It's engines will swivel about and fire at you, as well as having the front shoot diagonally downwards like the A10A, except to the left. So, they only safe spots are in front, and above and to the left of it. Preparation stage: Now, you'll want to kick off this level with clusters, bulpups, super shells, nalpalms, and Mega Crushes. If you want, you could add more, say, phoenixes, but that's your call. This guy isn't too strong. You should have level 7 Vulcan cannon by now. The thing should pop up from the bottom of the screen. Have your Bulpups ready, and you're Vulcan cannon smoking. Fire the bulpups ever 5 seconds, and fire constantly. If the little bombs he drops really annoy you, fly down and take them out. When firing with the bulpups, get real close. If all 5 hit, it'll do a lot of damage. It should take less than 10 bulpups, and constant fire to take down this bird. All right! The Boss is dead! The game... is...won? Uh oh. What's that huge thing?! A meteor? A planet? Oh my god... Holy Ship! It's the final boss! ~~~~~FINAL FIGHT: THE PROJECT FOUR: MEGA SHIP~~~~~ ~~~~~Difficulty: ******** STARS~~~~~ Going into this a battle, if you've followed my instructions, you should have 3 Mega Crushes, bulpups, super shells, nalpalms, and clusters. You'll need them. This thing has far to many attacks to list. So I'll put it this way: There are numerous cannons, which fire large bullets at a fast speed, about one a second, every second. Just follow what I say, and you'll see each part. This thing it huge, powerful, and pretty fast, but it has one major flaw: It's pink. But for the life of me, I can't see how to use that to our advantage. So, we'll just need to bigger in spirit, more powerful, and faster. Not that hard, eh? You'll first see the things nose. Fire on it with the bulpups and V.C., and blow the ship out of it! It'll be destroyed. Then, focus on the cannon above it. With any luck, you'll take out the plane that flies out of a hole. Get in close, fire a bulpups, the zip out. Hopefully, that'll be destroyed soon. Other wise, nalpalm it quickly. Then, switch to the super shells, and blast the other cannon there quickly with five shots, and repeated blasts from the Vulcan cannon. When it explodes, it'll expose its core. Now! Use a Mega Crush before it zips off the screen! Boom! It'll sustain big damage! If you didn't destroy the cannon, then don't bother with the Mega Crush. Just shoot the tail fin. You'll then circle down, and around, until you're below the ship, facing left. You'll see another tail fin. Blast it, and when it destroyed, fly to a point where you can still fire through the remains of the fin, while still having the bullets act like nothing is there. If you keep firing, you'll hit a cannon hanging up side down. It'll blow soon. Now, up ahead, you'll see a jet like that of the Jumbo-Jet, but aiming down. Don't shoot it; just fly under it with good timing. When you're out on the other side, there'll be another cannon waiting. Just avoid the fire until you start turning. Once you're done turning, try to shoot it as mush as possible. You'll start to go back over the spot where the cannon is/was. If it's still there, destroy it, and then blast it with a Mega Crush! If not, use a Mega Crush immediately. Boom! More damage! Now, if you're lucky, you'll get the ability to stop there, and just drop nalpalms on the grey things sliding in and out. If not, you'll have to go around another time. Either way, avoid the fire of the remaining cannon when you do stop, then nalpalm the hole until the top half of something is shown. It'll look like a toilet paper tube with a glowing ball in it. Use the last Mega Crush, than bomb the Hell out of it. Keep it up; it'll soon go down in a cacophony of explosions! Congrats. You did. Project 4's dreams have been shattered, and the U.N. Squadron can relax. Go on, grab a cookie; you earned it. ~~~~~Section VII: A brief Wrap-up~~~~~ Well, that's just about it for me. I hope you've enjoyed this guide, and that it's helped you. Thanks go to: Capcom, for making the bloody awesome game. GameFAQS, for hosting this FAQ. All my friends, who supported me during the composition of this guide. It's my first, so it took a while. And to you, readers.
