Game Basics ================= In this section, I will tell you the basics about this game. If you are new to the 2D Metroid series, then be sure to read this first before playing! ------------ The Gameplay ------------ In all Metroid games, you are usually on one planet exploring several areas on that planet (this isn't the case for all of the games, however). That also applies to this game: you are on the planet Zebes, and you have to travel through several areas such as Brinstar and Norfair. Metroid games involve a lot of backtracking, especially if you want to get everything. You go through these areas using your suit upgrades you find to gain access to other areas, defeat enemies, and that kind of stuff. You start off with the Power Beam, the weakest type of beam in the game. However, as you play through more of the game, you will get a few more. The beams can be combined to create one powerful beam, making Samus a pretty powerful adversary for the enemies. Your suit upgrades will really help you, and they are essential to completing the game and getting a full 100% completion. Percentage does not determine the ending you get, however; it depends on what time you beat the game in (refer to the Secrets section). Samus must put these arsenal of weapons and equipment to good use if she hopes to stop the Space Pirates. -------------- Game Mechanics -------------- Missiles -------- In this Metroid game, you have to simply collect a pack of Missiles. Each pack increases your total count by 5. That may not seem like much, but as you collect more, you will find that they are extremely helpful. Missiles are used a lot in the game, so you'll need to find a lot of these. They are usually found in secret places in rooms, so look closely in each room! You never know what you might find. Super Missiles -------------- These are the same as the Missiles, only they're for opening a certain door, and they're more powerful. Power Bombs ----------- You will be able to find packs of Power Bombs after a certain point in the game. Each pack gives you 5 more Power Bombs. They open up certain doors, so finding these wouldn't be so bad. Not only that, but the bombs can also blow up certain enemies and things. They're actually quite useful throughout the game, so you will be using them often. Energy Tanks ------------ Without Energy Tanks, you would practically get owned in the big planet of Zebes. For each Energy Tank collected, your maximum energy capacity is raised by 100. This also makes a purple square appear above your health, and every time you lose 100 health, one of these squares go blank. The squares represent the Energy Tanks you have. Reserve Tanks ------------- There aren't many of these in the game. They act as Energy Tanks, only they basically revive you. By default, it is set to "Auto". Go to the Equipment screen and you can change it to "Manual", where you can use the Reserve Tanks you have whenever you want. Whenever you're at full health (100%, not just 100 on one Energy Tank), collect more recovery orbs to fill up your Reserve Tank. Like I said, you won't find many of these. They can be used when you're low on health, filling up 100 units of energy. Morph Ball ---------- You will find this suit upgrade in the beginning of the game, pretty much. To roll into a Morph Ball, press Down twice. Then, you can roll around and press the X button to lay bombs. Only three bombs may be layed at once. If you time it right, you can use the bombs to do a "bomb jump", which is very useful for reaching certain places and other things. You have to get your timing just right, though. Bombs can also blow up certain things and kill some enemies. Save Stations ------------- You use these to save your game (obviously). They are spreaded all across each area in the game, and you'll find them often. When you step into one, you'll get the option to save, and all of your health and ammo will be replenished. Whenever you see a Save Station, be sure to save your game! You never know when you might die by an unexpected boss or something. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================ IV. Walkthrough ================ In this section is a full walkthrough of the game, from the beginning to the end. This is a full walkthrough, telling you how to get all 100% of the items as you go through the game. When you start the game, you will see a cutscene. You will learn about how Samus defeated the Mother Brain, and how she adopted a friendly Metroid which hatched from the last egg on their planet. After you learn more about what happened with this Metroid, you'll learn that she received a distress signal that the Ceres Station was under attack. Immediately she heads there, and that's where our story begins. ------------------------ Ceres Station - Prologue ------------------------ Missiles: 0 Super Missiles: 0 Power Bombs: 0 Energy Tanks: 0 Reserve Tanks: 0 When you arrive here, Samus will come down from an elevator. Jump down, and feel free to get used to the controls of the game if this is your first time playing. Regardless, whenever you are ready, jump up to the door at the bottom and it will open. Go through. In this next room, simply head right and go through the next door. Follow the path in this room to another door which you should also enter. You will see some dead people lying on the floor here. Just go to the next room to a hallway. Go through the hallway, and at the next room, you'll notice that the noise has suddenly stopped. You will see a captive Metroid, the very same one that befriended Samus. Walk up to it and stand there for a few seconds. You will soon see an orange light in the background, then it will turn out to be Ridley, Samus's arch-nemesis. He's back! Refer to the Bosses section to see how to win this fight. Once Ridley is defeated and flies off, you'll get a message saying that the station is about to blow up! Ridley even took off with the Metroid! You now have exactly one minute to escape from your doom. Simply backtrack all the way to the entrance of the Ceres Station. On your way back, you will notice steam that shoots out. This doesn't damage you, but it does make you stop moving for a moment. At the first room, the room will tilt. Just jump up the platforms and onto the elevator to escape this place. She will then fly onto Planet Zebes, in pursuit of Ridley. ------------------------ Crateria - The Beginning ------------------------ Missiles: 0 Super Missiles: 0 Power Bombs: 0 Energy Tanks: 0 Reserve Tanks: 0 Upon arriving at the planet, Samus will dock at Crateria, the first area on this planet. She will then exit her ship. Take note that you can enter her ship whenever you want to, and you'll be able to save your game. Not only that, but every single bit of armor supplies is healed as well, including Energy Tanks and the like. Anyway, you can't head right just yet, because the path is blocked off. Head all the way west and you'll find a blue door. From now on, doors can only be opened when you shoot them with a beam. In this case, the blue door can be opened with any beam, so shoot it to open it and go on through. In this corridor, you will see that there are no enemies around. Just head all the way west and fall down the shaft until you reach the very bottom. At the bottom, aim down and shoot the blue door on the floor to open it up. Drop through it, and drop down the shaft in this room. It's a rather long shaft, but once you finally reach the bottom, go through the door. In here, you will notice a broken container. The entire room is broken. In the original Metroid game, this is where the Mother Brain was. Head all the way right to the end of the room, and go through the door. See that elevator? It's a flashing yellow circle. Stand on it and press Down to head down to Brinstar. -------------------------------------- Brinstar - The Morph Ball and Missiles -------------------------------------- Missiles: 0 Super Missiles: 0 Power Bombs: 0 Energy Tanks: 0 Reserve Tanks: 0 Here, go left and jump up the platforms, then drop down. Jump up to the ball on the pedestal to get the "MORPHING BALL". To turn into a ball, press Down twice. A strange light will also shine on you, although I'm not sure what it does. Go right and aim down, then shoot the cracked block under the platform. Roll into a ball by pressing Down twice, then roll under the platform back to where the elevator is. Go east and proceed through the door. Here, shoot the rows of blocks and drop down to the bottom of the shaft. Roll into a ball and roll under the platform, then go through the door. In here is a Chozo statue, holding an orb. Shoot it to reveal your first pack of "MISSILES". Take it and leave this room. To select your Missiles, along with any other weapon upgrades like this one, press Select. Anyway, head back up the shaft and shoot the blocks. Jump back up and shoot the red door with all five of your Missiles you just got. This will open it, so go through. From now on, both sides of the door will be blue. This is the case for all doors that are not blue that you open. In this room, go all the way right and another camera will spot you. Morph into a ball and roll under the obstruction, then take the pack of "MISSILES" there. Go back out of this room and take the elevator back up to Crateria. ---------------------------- Crateria - Getting the Bombs ---------------------------- Missiles: 10 Super Missiles: 0 Power Bombs: 0 Energy Tanks: 0 Reserve Tanks: 0 Back at this place, go through the nearby door. The door behind you is now locked, and you'll see that this place now has Space Pirates! Shoot all of them in this room with your weapon, and once they're defeated, both doors in this room will be flashing, meaning you can open them. Take any energy units and ammo the Space Pirates left behind, then go through the leftmost door. Back in this room, make your way up the shaft. On your way up, you'll notice some more Space Pirates. Just stand on one platform below them, then jump up and shoot. Repeat until you reach the top, then go through the door at the end. Back here, you will notice an enemy crawling along the platform above you. Make your way up the shaft while destroying these creatures. When you come to the blue door blocked by a Morph Ball tunnel, turn into a ball and roll through. Go through the door, and you'll find your first "SAVE STATION" inside. Step into it and say that you want to save. This also replenishes all of your health, but not ammo or anything. Leave this room and make your way up to the top. Then, head right and avoid the enemies. Roll into a ball and roll through the tunnel, dropping down. Head all the way down and go through the door. In the next room, go all the way right, ignoring the enemies for a moment. Shoot the red door with five Missiles to open it, then go back and kill all of the bats. Take the supplies they drop. Go through the red door you opened. You'll notice it stays open. Shoot the orb the Chozo statue is holding to reveal another item. Take them to get the "BOMBS". Now we can use bombs while in Morph Ball mode. --------------------------- Crateria - Back to Brinstar --------------------------- Missiles: 10 Super Missiles: 0 Power Bombs: 0 Energy Tanks: 0 Reserve Tanks: 0 Uh oh. We're not through in here yet. The statue crumbles, revealing a live Chozo creature! Read the Bosses section to see how to defeat it. Once you win, go back through the door that is now flashing. Head through the corridor and go through the western door. Back here, jump onto the platform in the middle, then jump onto the eastern platforms. At the top, roll into a Morph Ball and blow up the rock obstruction to get through the tunnel. They regenerate after a few seconds, however. When you get through the tunnel, head all the way left and drop down the shaft. When you come to a blue door on the left and a red door on the right, open the red door with five Missiles and go through. Kill all of the enemies in this corridor and go through the door at the end of the room. Inside here is a machine. Walk up to it and Samus will insert her gun into it. You will download the whole map for Crateria! I know, since you're using this guide, there's not much point in making you go and get a map, but I did say this was going to be a full walkthrough, didn't I? Anyway, once you use the "MAP STATION", exit this room and the corridor you just came through. Back in the shaft room, go through the door directly to the left. In here, roll through the Morph Ball tunnel and bomb the rocks along the way. Go through the door at the end. Shoot the orb that the Chozo statue holds, and take the next pack of "MISSILES". That's all that was in this room, so go back to the previous room. To save some time, go up to the first rock and plant a bomb as a Morph Ball, then hold Right. Roll through the secret tunnel you enter back to the eastern side of the room, then go through the door. Drop down to the bottom of the shaft and shoot the door on the floor. In that room, head all the way down the shaft and go through the eastern door. Back here, bomb the glass container as a Morph Ball to break a part of the floor. Keep bombing the floor, and drop down to find a hidden pack of "MISSILES". Now, exit this room and go back up to the main room. Head all the way up the shaft there (not the one with the Space Pirates; the one after that). Once you're up there, head left to a wall of bendezium. Bomb the wall to blow it up, then go through the door ahead. In this corridor, head left and defeat the enemies. Take the "ENERGY TANK" lying on the ground at the end, then go through the door. In this room are green Space Pirates, and you cannot harm them with your weak Power Beam. Instead, use Missiles or bombs (preferably Missiles). Make your way to the bottom of the room, then go through the blue door. Here, make your way through the corridor, and avoid the silver enemies. Shoot the big balls of parasite many times with your Power Beam to destroy them. They'll spit out bug creatures. Go through the door at the end, then take the elevator down in the next room. It leads to another part of Brinstar. -------------------------- Brinstar - The Charge Beam -------------------------- Missiles: 20 Super Missiles: 0 Power Bombs: 0 Energy Tanks: 1 Reserve Tanks: 0 When you arrive here, drop down and kill the enemies. You will come to two doors on the left and right; both are red. Shoot the western one with five Missiles, then go inside. Kill the enemies in this room and jump onto the platform. Continue and you'll come to a dead end. What to do? Simple. Roll into a Morph Ball and plant a bomb to blow up some of the metal. Head left and keep holding it, planting bombs. You will end up on the other side of the wall, where a door is. Defeat the enemy and go through. Here you will find the second "MAP STATION". Use it to download the Brinstar map, then exit this area. Back at this area, kill the enemy by the door you came through and go through the Morph Ball tunnel again. Kill all of the enemies in the room to unlock the door to the right, then go through. Back at this room, go through the red door across from you. Jump onto the bridge here and walk across it, then a shutter will close in to prevent you from passing. The bridge will crumble, making you fall down to another pack of "MISSILES". Get them and roll into a ball, then bomb the green rock wall to the left. Exit this room. Drop down one level and go through the left door, where you'll find a "SAVE STATION". Save your game and exit the room. Drop down to the bottom of the room and go through the red door on the left. This room is dark, but there are fireflies which give you light. Make your way to the bottom-left part of the room, but do _not_ kill the fireflies or the light will go away. Go through the door at the end. Inside is a "MISSILE RECHARGE STATION". Use it to refill all of your Missiles, then exit this room and go back to the main room. Now, go through the only red door we haven't been through yet, which is right in front of you. Go through this shady corridor and defeat the enemies, then you will come to a dead end. Bomb the wall away and continue, then go through the door at the end. Here, go all the way right and drop all the way down. Be careful of the tough moth enemies! They really pack a punch. When you reach the bottom, go all the way left and drop down, then take the pack of "MISSILES". Bomb the rocks at the bottom of the platform to the right, then roll through. You'll fall down, so shoot the orb in the Chozo statue's hand, then take the "CHARGE BEAM". Now you can hold X to charge up for a big blast! ---------------------------------- Brinstar - More Upgrades and Items ---------------------------------- Missiles: 30 Super Missiles: 0 Power Bombs: 0 Energy Tanks: 1 Reserve Tanks: 0 Now that we've obtained the Charge Beam, jump back up the ledges and jump up on the last platform, holding Left. Roll into a ball and go through the tunnel, then make your way back up to the top of the room. When you get to the door we entered from, jump up above the door and onto the ledge. Climb your way up some more, being cautious of the enemies on the ceiling. When you get to the top, you should see a Morph Ball tunnel to the left. Roll through it and bomb the rock at the end, then roll to the end and go through the door. In this room is another "SAVE STATION". Use it and go back through the Morph Ball tunnel in the previous room. Jump onto the top platform and head all the way right, going through the red door at the end. In this room, you'll notice a new enemy. They look kinda like Space Pirates. To kill them, shoot them a few times with normal Power Beam shots, or use one Missile or charged shot. Regardless, go through the hallway and kill all three. Then, the door at the end of the room will unlock, so jump through it. The music will stop in this room, then a boss will appear! See the Bosses section for help on getting through the fight. Once the creature is defeated, jump onto it and collect the supplies it left behind. You'll likely need it after facing that battle. While still on the Spore Spawn, jump up and make your way to the top of the room, then go through the door. Here, head all the way right and jump on the second pipe. It will crumble and you'll fall down a very long shaft to another room. Shoot the orb the Chozo statue is holding to reveal your first pack of "SUPER MISSILES". These are more powerful than normal Missiles, and they also open up green doors and shutters. Now, head left and go through the door. In the next room, go all the way left and ignore the pipes, then blast the green door with a Super Missile. This causes two enemies to fall down, but ignore them and head through the door. You will see a Morph Ball tunnel here. Aim and shoot the very bottom of the obstruction to blow it up, then roll into a ball and go through the tunnel, blowing up the obstruction at the end. When you exit the tunnel, you'll find out that you're in the same area where we got the Charge Beam earlier! Head west and drop off the platform, then head right. Jump onto the platform and roll into a Morph Ball, then use a bomb to leap into the tunnel. Roll through and blast the green door with a Super Missile, then enter. Upon entering this room, drop down the green ledges. Make your way right and you will eventually come to a pipe high up on the right wall. Wall jump off of that same wall and hold Up and Right. You'll land in the pipe. To wall jump, jump onto a wall, then immediately hold the opposite direction of the wall when you touch it, and press A. If done correctly, you'll wall jump. When you land in the pipe, become a ball and roll through it, then take the pack of "MISSILES". Exit and head all the way down, to the right. Beware of the enemies along the way. Shoot the blue switch at the top of the shutter you come to and it will open. Go through the hallway and defeat the enemies, then go through the door. There's a puffy creature in here, and it shoots out spikes in all directions. Just shoot it with the Power Beam until it is defeated, then jump onto the bridge there. Hold B and run; you will dash across the bridge and make it across safely. When you make it across, defeat the puffy enemy and go through the green door. In this next room, you'll notice a change of music. We're now in a different part of Brinstar. Drop down all the platforms until you reach the bottom. You will come to what appears to be a dead end, but do NOT shoot the block on the right. It releases a monster which latches on to you, and you have to plant a few bombs to shrug it off. Anyway, shoot the floor until you break part of it, then drop down and bomb the rest of the floor. When you fall into it, move left and you'll drop down. Drop down to the very bottom of the shaft, then go through the green door. Inside is an "ENERGY RECHARGE STATION". Use it if need be, then exit and go through the blue door on the right. In this room, you'll need to jump over the water and onto the platform. If you fall into the water, keep hold Up and pressing A until you escape, then make sure you either land on the platform or by the door we entered through. When you make it onto the platform, defeat the enemies by aiming at them and shooting them, then jump onto the next platform. Go up to the door and enter. In here, shoot the block directly above where you stand when you enter. It will break. Now, jump up to the left part of the wall and IMMEDIATELY wall jump right, left, right, left, right, and repeat until you get to the top. It's very hard to do. If you want, you can wait until you get the Hi-Jump Boots to do it, where you can just simply jump up there. However, this leads to a good upgrade. Anyway, if you make it up there, roll into a ball and bomb the rock. Shoot the second rock in the tunnel with your Power Beam. Go through the tunnel and when you exit, blast open the green door and enter. Inside this room, shoot the orb in the Chozo statue's hands, then take the "SPAZER BEAM". Woohoo! Now our beam is much more powerful than before! Take note that in this game, beams are combined, so we now have the Power Beam and Spazer Beam equipped at the same time. Go back to the previous room and roll through the tunnel. Bomb the rock and move left a bit, then bomb the floor to fall back down. Hold Left or you will land in a sandworm-like thing's mouth. Jump over the creature and over to the next platform, then defeat the puffy enemy. Make your way to the end of the room, and go through the door. You're now in a watery hallway, so go through the door ahead. You're in a glass tube now. Go right and to another hallway, which leads to a door you should go through. At the elevator room, take the elevator down to Norfair, the next area we're going to explore. -------------------------- Norfair - Mini Exploration -------------------------- Missiles: 35 Super Missiles: 5 Power Bombs: 0 Energy Tanks: 1 Reserve Tanks: 0 Welcome to the fiery world in Super Metroid. We can't do much here for now, so just drop all the way down and enter the red door. Take the "ENERGY TANK" you see upon entering the room, then head left and you'll fall down to the lower floor. Roll into a ball and roll through the tunnel to fall down, then go through the blue door nearby. In this room, shoot the top of the metal pillar to reveal an opening. Jump through it and shoot the orb the Chozo statue is holding. Take the "HI-JUMP BOOTS". Now we can jump much higher than before! Jump through the opening again with the help of your new boots, then go back through the door. Back here, jump on the ledge by the door, then kill the enemy nearby. Jump up to the high platform, then jump onto the highest platform and roll through the tunnel. Take the pack of "MISSILES" there, then roll into the small Morph Ball tunnel nearby. Bomb the rocky wall and go through. Wait a few seconds and a slug enemy will come out of the wall. Kill it, and with all enemies dead, the door unlocks. Go through it. Back at this shaft, make your way up to the top, then take the elevator back up to Brinstar. ------------------------------------------------- Brinstar - To Kraid's Hideout and Back to Norfair ------------------------------------------------- Missiles: 40 Super Missiles: 5 Power Bombs: 0 Energy Tanks: 2 Reserve Tanks: 0 Back in this elevator room, bomb the lower blocks on the right wall. This will reveal three blocks with a Super Missile icon on them. Blast the bottom two with Super Missiles, then roll through the tunnel to a new room. Inside is a dragon-like face on a high platform to the right. Jump up there with the help of the Hi-Jump Boots, then enter. Go through the door when you come out. In this area, kill the two enemies you will immediately see. Bomb the westernmost part of the platform you're on to break a hole in it. When you fall down, go to the bottom to find a locked door. Bomb the wall on the right to reveal an opening, then roll through. At the end, go through the door on the ceiling. In this room, you'll see lots of those green grasshopper enemies we fought before. However, now that you have the Spazer Beam, they are pathetically easy. Once you defeat them, head to the end of the room. Looks like a dead end! Not. Fall into the small hole nearby and lay a bomb. Roll through the tunnel that is revealed, then go through the door at the end. In here is a "SAVE STATION". Use it at your own leisure, then exit this room and go back through the tunnel. Go back left and defeat the enemies. In the center of the floor is an odd crack; shoot it to reveal a hole, then drop down. Follow the path to a door, then enter it. Make your way through this room and kill the Space Pirates, then you will see some spikes on the ceiling. There are also some green thorns being shot at you! Head right and you'll see a miniature version of Kraid. Shoot it repeatedly until it is defeated, leaving behind lots of Super Missiles. Go through the door at the end. In this room, aim up and shoot the ceiling to reveal an opening. Jump up and you will find a green door, so blast it with a Super Missile and go through. Inside, you will find an "ENERGY RECHARGE STATION" and a "MISSILE RECHARGE STATION". Use both of them if you need to, then go back to the previous room. Head left and bomb the ground to fall back down. Now, head right and avoid the enemies that come out of the pipe. Jump across the platforms, being careful not to fall into the pit of spikes. You'll see a bounty hunter covered in bugs, which will move when you approach him. He's dead, obviously. Head right, and you'll see a big eye on the wall open up. Use Super Missiles to defeat it. It will shoot yellow balls of energy at you, so be careful. It's best to shoot the eye right when it opens. Once you shoot it with one Super Missile, it gets destroyed and a door is revealed, so head on through it. You can also use three regular Missiles to defeat the eye. In this room, the door behind you will lock. Wait a moment, and a giant green monster will appear! This is Kraid. Read the Bosses section for help on winning. Once you defeat the monster, take the supplies he left behind and go through the eastern door. Shoot the orb in here, then take the "VARIA SUIT". Now Samus is wearing an orange suit, and it's resistant to fire! Know what that means? We can now explore a lot more of Norfair! Not only that, but enemy damage has been reduced by 50%! A great bargain. Now that we have our new suit, it's time to go back to the beginning of this place. Exit this room and Kraid's room, then make your way back to the very entrance of the hideout. At the first room, go to the door that was locked earlier. It's flashing now, so shoot it and go through. Inside, roll into a ball and plant many bombs. Destroy the creatures using the bombs, then shoot the western part of the ceiling to reveal an "ENERGY TANK". Take it and leave this room, then jump back up and go through the blue door. Back out here, head west and go through the door, then shoot the Super Missile blocks. Take the elevator back down to Norfair. -------------------------- Norfair - More Exploration -------------------------- Missiles: 40 Super Missiles: 5 Power Bombs: 0 Energy Tanks: 3 Reserve Tanks: 0 Now that we have the Varia Suit, we can explore much more freely now. Drop down and go through the door on the right. In this room, aim down and shoot the ground to reveal an opening. Drop down and head right. Defeat the enemies along the way, then jump onto the platform there. Jump up to the red door, then defeat the enemy and open the door, then go through it. In here, make your way across the platforms to the third gap, then drop down. Make sure you defeat the enemies along the way! Once you drop down the third gap, roll into a ball and move to the right. Before the lava murders you, lay a bomb to blow up part of the wall, revealing a pack of "MISSILES". After getting them, jump out of the lava and up the gap, then go right. Jump down that gap and go through the door. In this room, you'll hear a rumbling. In a few seconds, lava starts to rise. Not to worry, however. It stops after a certain point. Anyway, make your way through this narrow room, defeating the enemies along the way. Ignore the seahorse-like enemies, and go through the door at the end. In this bubble room, head all the way right, and you'll fall down a gap at the end. Roll into a ball and blow up the pipes to fall down the rest of the shaft. At the bottom, jump across the spikes to a pack of "MISSILES". Now, make your way back up the shaft you fell down and head left. When you come to two dragon-like faces, bomb the floor there and you'll fall down. Bomb the eastern part of the platform and you'll fall down even further. Now, bomb the middle to fall into a pipe. Make your way through the maze-like area using your bombs, defeating the enemies along the way. Once you exit the maze, shoot the door on the floor and go through it. In this room, drop down the shaft and enter the door you'll see. Inside, stand next to the middle and three enemies will appear. Shoot them and they'll drop supplies, and then they'll just respawn. Repeat this if you need supplies until you're done, then exit the room and drop down. Enter the next door. Here, make your way through the room while avoiding the fire-spitting enemies, defeating the other enemies. At the end of the room, go through the door, then simply head through the door in the next room. Head right and jump across the platforms. Slowly, lava will rise. You'll come to a big face that shoots blue fireballs at you, so when you find it, roll into a ball and through the tunnel nearby. Shoot the platform above you and jump through, then make your way up past the faces. Go through the door at the end. In here, you'll see some spikes above lava. Wait, and a flying green platform will come your way. Get on it and roll into a ball. You'll pass over all the spikes. When you see a platform sticking out of the lava, jump to it and jump across. Get on the next green platform and roll into a ball, then go through the door at the end. Here, you'll see a flame ball enemy. Jump onto the platform above you, then a fire dragon of some sort will appear. Just shoot it a few times and it will die, then make your way up, ignoring the first door. When you come to the red door, go through it. In here, you will see some weird platforms. When you jump to them, they'll move. Jump across each one, being careful not to fall off. When you get to the last platform, you'll see a shutter. Shoot the blue switch at the top of it and it will open, so jump across and claim the pack of "MISSILES". Time to get a new and improved beam. You could wait until you get the Speed Booster, however. Jump into the bed of spikes below, and make sure you have a lot of energy and Energy Tanks! Quickly head to the right wall, then perform a wall jump to the middle of the wall. Hold Up and Right a bit and land on the platform where a red door is. Go through it. In this room, shoot the orb the Chozo statue is holding, then take the "WAVE BEAM". Nice! Exit this room and jump into the middle of the spikes, where you'll fall down and avoid taking damage. Head left and roll through the tunnel, then go through the door all the way to the left. Back here, make your way up to the top of the room, then go through that door. In the bubble room, jump up and defeat the plant enemy, then jump on the platform to the right. Open the green door with a Super Missile and enter. In this lava-filled room, shoot the enemies on the ceiling and shoot around the eastern part of the ceiling. You will eventually reveal a hole. Jump through it to land on a small ledge, then aim up and shoot there to reveal another hole. Jump through it and refill your supplies using the enemies that respawn to the left, then go through the door. In here, hold B and dash across the bridges that crumble. Shoot the ceiling at the end, and take the pack of "MISSILES". Go through the red door. Shoot the orb the Chozo statue is holding, then claim the "SPEED BOOSTER". The room will now fill up with lava, so quickly exit it. Back here, you will notice that the room is filling up with lava as well. Use your new item by holding B and dashing, and eventually you'll go to hyperspeed. In hyperspeed mode, you can break Speed Booster blocks, kill certain enemies instantly, and even do the awesome hyperjump! I'll explain that later. When you reach the end of the room, go through the door. Now, defeat the enemy here and jump down. Go back to where the two statue heads are and bomb the floor. Go through the middle tunnel. When you exit, go through the western door. In here, jump over the lava pit and go through the door at the end. In the next room, hold B and dash through the room in hyperspeed. You will break through some walls and enemies and reach a door, so go through it. Use the "SAVE STATION" in here and head into the following room. Back here, make your way up the shaft until you find a green door, then blast it open and go through. Here, dash through the room. You'll dash past some shutters with the help of hyperspeed, then you'll land on some blocks in a pit. These are Power Bomb blocks. Ignore them and go into the next room. Use the green moving machines in here to cross the lava pits, then head into the next room. Make your way up the platforms in here, then when you reach the door, shoot the part of the ground right next to the door to blow it up. Roll into a ball and drop down, then hold Right. You'll land in a small slot. Do this for the next slot, and keep repeating this until you enter a tunnel. Go through the door at the end of the tunnel. In here, shoot the marble the Chozo statue is holding and take the "ICE BEAM". Now we can freeze enemies, and even use some of them as platforms. Not only that, but our maximum damage we deal has been increased by 50%! Exit this room and the Morph Ball tunnel, then drop down. Go up the platforms again and go through the door this time. In the next room, walk right and some goo will emerge from the lava. Shoot it while it is still in midair to freeze it, then jump on it as a platform. Freeze the next goo, then freeze the third one so that you can roll through the Morph Ball tunnel. Do so and you'll see a red creature. Freeze it and jump onto it, then to the platform ahead. Go through the door. You'll fall through a shaft down to the bottom. Roll into a ball and bomb the bottom of the metal pole on the right, then roll through the rest of the tunnel. You'll fall through to the room below you, so go through the door when you exit the tunnel. Back in the shaft, enter the door right in front of you. Shoot the ground in here to fall through, then from here, make your way back to the green bubble room. From the entrance, look up and you'll see a red enemy flying back and forth. Freeze and jump on him, then jump up to the green door. Blast it open with a Super Missile and go through. Kill the enemy in this room, then take the pack of "MISSILES". Now, on the platform where the Missile pack was, aim southwest and shoot to make a shutter rise up. When it stops, jump on it and shoot the wall. Roll through the tunnel revealed, and go through the door at the end. In here, make your way to the end of the room while taking care of the enemies. Shoot the marble at the end and take the "RESERVE TANK". These can be used when your energy is low. Once you've gotten that, shoot the platform to the right and get the pack of "MISSILES". Go back to the previous room. Head right and bomb jump all the way up while holding Right. Roll through the tunnel and bomb the bubble at the end, then make your way back to the main shaft. Climb it up and head back up to Brinstar. -------------------------- Brinstar - The Power Bombs -------------------------- Missiles: 70 Super Missiles: 5 Power Bombs: 0 Energy Tanks: 3 Reserve Tanks: 1 Now that we're back at Brinstar, head all the way back left through the rooms until you come to a shaft. Once there, shoot the brown enemy above you to freeze it. Use it as a platform and do the same for the rest of the enemies. Once you reach the top, jump, hold Right, and shoot. You'll enter the wall. Head right and then aim up and shoot to reveal a hole, then jump out. Make your way up the shaft until you find another brown enemy. Freeze it and jump on it, then do the same for the others. Shoot the ceiling when you get to the last one, then jump through the hole and go through the door. In here, jump across the platforms while avoiding the man-eating plants and the enemies, then go through the door at the end. Shoot the floor here and drop all the way down, then go through the green dor. In this room, jump across the platforms and freeze the slime balls. At the end of the path, shoot the orb the Chozo statue is holding. Then, take the pack of "POWER BOMBS". We finally have some! We can blow up other certain things with these, and more! Use a Power Bomb to blow up the wall behind the Chozo statue, then follow the path to a small room containing a pack of "MISSILES". Once you have gotten those, exit this room. Back here, jump up the ledges and shoot the ceiling, then jump up. When you get to a blue door, go through it. In this room is a "SAVE STATION". Use it, then exit and keep jumping up. Go through the green door you find. Kill all the enemies in this room and head all the way west. At the dead end, lay a Power Bomb to blow up the floor. Fall into the last man-eating plant, and you'll fall into a small area. Take the pack of "POWER BOMBS" in here, then jump out and make your way out of the room. Back in here, drop all the way down to an orange door. Open it using a Power Bomb, then go through. Make your way back to the elevator leading to Norfair. You should know how to get there. For the first water room, unequip the Hi-Jump Boots so you won't hit the ceiling. After that, equip them back. When you get to the Norfair elevator, head down it. ---------------------------- Norfair - Yet More Exploring ---------------------------- Missiles: 75 Super Missiles: 5 Power Bombs: 10 Energy Tanks: 3 Reserve Tanks: 1 When you arrive here again, head down once and enter the western door. Dash through this room to get past the shutters. You will land on some weird looking blocks. Lay a Power Bomb to blow them up, then you'll drop down to a cave-like room. Head all the way left and defeat the enemies along the way, then go through the door at the end. IMMEDIATELY hold Right, as the platform you walk on will crumble. However, you'll still stand by the door as long as you hold Right. Shoot the left wall to reveal a Missile pack. Hold B and run onto the platform below you. Immediately after you touch it, press B and hold Left if you jumped. You should get the pack of "MISSILES"! When you reach the bottom, go through the door. Dash through this room in hyperspeed, and at the end, blast the green door in the floor open and drop in. You will find Crocomire in here, the next boss. See the Bosses section for help on defeating him. Once he's defeated, head all the way left and you'll see a spiked wall. Suddenly, Crocomire's battle theme will play, and he'll bust out of the wall as a skeleton! He'll then just drop down, though. Take the supplies he left behind, then head left. Jump across the small platforms, being careful not to fall into the acid. Go through the door at the end. In the next room, drop down and destroy the enemies to get refills. Defenitely do so since you just beat a rather annoying boss, then go through the door on the right. In here is a "SAVE STATION", so use it and exit the room. Now, head all the way left and enter the door on the floor. In here, make your way down to the bottom of the room. Then, when you see a red door, enter it. In this room, there is acid that will rise up and down at a fast rate. When it is down, run to the right and roll through the Morph Ball tunnel. Jump across the platforms here and take the pack of "MISSILES" at the end. Now, make your way back to the start of the room, then exit it. Drop down the rest of the big shaft and enter the door on the floor. Lay a Power Bomb upon entering the room to blow up the obstruction by you. Head left and defeat the enemies, then head all the way right. Dash all the way to the left and you'll bust through some walls, then before you fall into the acid, press Down. You will store some energy. Drop into the acid and move left a bit, then jump. You'll do the hyperjump, and jump all the way up to the ceiling. This damages you, though. Hold Right and land on the platform, then get the pack of "MISSILES". Once you've gotten those, drop down and head all the way back to the right. Do a hyperspeed run and before you drop off the ramp, jump and you'll do a very high spin in the air. You'll land next to a door, so go through it. In the next room, shoot the orb the Chozo statue is holding, then take the "GRAPPLING BEAM" it holds. Now we can swing across metal blocks on the ceiling and such! Nice! Jump up the shaft in this room, and when you reach the top, equip your new Grappling Beam. Hold Up and Right and press X to shoot it. When you grapple onto the metal block, hold X and press Down to lower yourself. Hold Left and Right to speed up, then release when you move right. Enter the door. In here, use the Grappling Beam to cross the gap of water, then go through the door. Freeze the ugly head in here, then make your way up and freeze the other heads along the way. When you reach the small block platform, jump to the left wall, do a wall jump, then use the Grappling Beam on the metal blocks. Make sure you have the beam ready before you do the wall jump. Then, swing to the door and go through it. In here, swing your way through this watery room. At the end, you will come to a shutter with a green lamp attached to it. Shoot it with a Super Missile to raise it, then go through the nearby door. Shoot the door on the ceiling and jump through. Here, head right. Use the enemies for refills if you need to, then jump on the tube-shaped platform. Quickly jump up onto the platform with the door, but don't go through it. See that flying enemy that's right up at the ceiling, flying left and right? Jump to it and use the Grappling Beam on it. Swing across to the left platform, then open the red door and go in. Take the pack of "POWER BOMBS" in here and go back to the previous room. Grapple acros the enemy again to the other platform, then go through the door. Hop across the ledges here and go all the way east, past Crocomire's bone head. At the end of the path, grapple across the pool of acid with the Grappling Beam, then land on the platform and get the "ENERGY TANK". We finally have four now! Make your way across the pool of acid again, then head west and go through the door on the ceiling. In this area, make your way to the top of the shaft, then go through the western door. In here, head up and defeat the enemy at the top, then go left to find some grapple blocks. Grapple across them to a platform holding a pack of "MISSILES". After you've gotten those, open the shutter and go through the door. Here, head up and shoot the ceiling, then continue up until you come to an elevator. Take it up to Brinstar. It's finally time to leave this place. -------------------------- Brinstar - The X-Ray Scope -------------------------- Missiles: 95 Super Missiles: 5 Power Bombs: 10 Energy Tanks: 4 Reserve Tanks: 1 Head back through a few rooms until you get to a big shaft with flying enemies in it. Freeze the enemies and use them as platforms. When you reach the top, jump inside the wall and lay a Power Bomb. You'll blow up part of the platform, along with the western wall and an orange door. Jump up and go through the door you just opened. In this room, jump across the small platform, and freeze but do not kill the fireflies. At the end of the path, grapple across the blocks on the ceiling to a ledge with a red door, then open it and go through. In this chamber, jump on the small ledge and lay a bomb. A shutter will rise. Roll through the tunnel and you'll fall down. Shoot the orb the Chozo statue is holding, then take the "X-RAY SCOPE". This nifty item lets you see through destructable walls and such. Use it and you'll see a path behind the Chozo statue. Jump on the statue and lay a few bombs to blow up the top part of the pipe. Bomb jump into it and roll to the right, bombing a piece of the floor. Bomb again and a shutter will carry you up. Roll right and you'll fall down, so go through the door. Make your way back out of this rather dark room. In the next room, lay a Power Bomb again and climb up the shaft. Freeze the enemies near the top and use them as platforms, then go through the door once you reach the top. Make your way through the room with the man-eating plants, then go through the door. Here, jump up the ledges and go up the elevator at the very top. ------------------------ Crateria - Going Hunting ------------------------ Missiles: 95 Super Missiles: 5 Power Bombs: 15 Energy Tanks: 4 Reserve Tanks: 1 It's time to do some item hunting. Lay a Power Bomb to open the orange door on the ceiling, then jump through it. In this area, make your way up and shoot the ceiling at the end. Jump up and head left, then go through the door. Exit the hallway and when you're back outside, head all the way left. Blow away the obstruction with normal bombs, then follow the path to your ship. Enter it to refill everything and save your game. Now, run to the far left, to the blue door. Do a hyperspeed run and press Down when you get to your ship to store energy. Do a hyperjump by holding Up and Right and pressing A, and you'll do it diagonally. You'll land on a platform you couldn't normally reach. Blow open the orange door with a Power Bomb and go in. Here, you'll see a pool of acid that rises up and down, and you'll also see some small platforms. Kill the enemies you come across, then go to the end of the room. Take the pack of "POWER BOMBS", then exit. Do another hyperspeed run and then jump once you reach the end of the platform. If you hit the top of the screen, you should break part of a wall and land in an opening. Lay a Power Bomb in there to blow away the rest of the wall, then head left and go through the door. In this room, use a Power Bomb to blow away some of the obstruction nearby. There is acid that will keep rising and lowering in this room, making it hard to get through. Not only that, but there are also some crab claw things that will try and grab you, so freeze them when you can. Keep navigating through the room, using Power Bombs to blow up the obstruction you come to until you finally reach a door. Go through. In here, you'll see an "ENERGY TANK" the Chozo statue is holding, so take it. Now, go right and bomb the small bridge-like piece of the floor when the acid isn't around. You'll fall through. Roll left through a pipe, then quickly jump to the platform in front of you. Now, carefully avoid the spikes while Power Bombing the walls until you reach small platforms. Carefully jump across those. At the last platform, use a Power Bomb to blow away the wall of spikes, revealing a path. Jump there and freeze the claw enemy, then head left. Go through that door. It appears to be a dead end. Shoot your beam to reveal a path, then shoot the ceiling to break some of it. Now, try and jump in between two parts of the floor. It's kinda hard to explain in words, but if you did it right, you'll fall down two parts of the breakable floor at the same time. On the way down, shoot the sides of the wall to make a path to two packs of "MISSILES". There's one pack on each side, meaning that if you miss one, you'll have to go back through all of those annoying acid rooms again to reach the last one, which would really suck. Once you get the second pack of "MISSILES", you'll fall all the way down. Lay a Power Bomb to make a path going down, then head right and drop down to the bottom room. This is the room with the green Space Pirates, which we've been in before. Anyway, drop down to the bottom of the room and defeat the Space Pirates, then go through the left door. Head through this room and go down the elevator. ------------------------ Brinstar - Going Hunting ------------------------ Missiles: 105 Super Missiles: 5 Power Bombs: 20 Energy Tanks: 5 Reserve Tanks: 1 Drop down until you come to the first two doors. Enter the red one on the right. In this room, jump onto the upper platform and dash across the breakable bridges. You'll pass the shutters and come to a door, so go through it. In the next room, shoot the orb the Chozo statue is holding, then take the item he is holding, which is the second "RESERVE TANK". Roll into a ball and roll into the pipe under him, in which you will find a pack of "MISSILES". Roll into a ball in that spot and bomb the wall by where the pack of Missiles were. You'll reveal and collect another pack of "MISSILES". Now you can exit this room. Back here, shoot the ceiling and jump through the path that was revealed. Jump up again and defeat the enemies in this corridor. At the end, you will find a pack of "SUPER MISSILES". Once you've gotten those, jump onto the thing the Super Missiles were on, and it will break. You'll fall through to the door in the bottom room. Go through it. Back in this shaft, drop all the way down to the bottom, then use a Power Bomb to blow up more of the floor. Drop down from here until you reach the very bottom, then go through the blue door. In this room, defeat the enemies that latch onto you using bombs, then go through the door. Here, head left until you see an Energy Tank, but do not move after that. Using the X-Ray Scope, you can see that there's really a pit by the tank. IT'S A TRAP! What to do? Go to the start of the room and run, then jump when you approach it. If you did it right, you'll land on the other side, so take the "ENERGY TANK" and go through the green door. Take the pack of "SUPER MISSILES" lying out in the open, then go back to the previous room and fall through the pit. When you reach the bottom, go through the left door to find a "SAVE STATION". Use it if you wish, then exit. Roll through the tunnel of spikes and you'll come out in an area full of spikes, and those monsters that latch onto you. Ugh. Jump across the platforms carefully, while defeating the monsters. At the end, go through the door. In here, you'll see three strange creatures which will show you how to do a wall jump up this shaft. If you've been following my guide, you should already know how to do it. Wall jump up to the top, then do a spin jump over to the right. Roll into a ball while in the air and roll through the tunnel. At the end, shoot the orb and take the pack of "POWER BOMBS". Roll back out of the tunnel and climb your way back up, then go through the door on the left. Back in the shaft, jump up and Power Bomb away the ceiling, then jump through. Enter the door on the right. In this room, use a hyperspeed run to run to the right, then you'll fall down a huge pit. When you reach the bottom, head all the way left to a strange creature. It will show you how to do a hyperjump, which you should know how to do. Go through the western door. In this room is an "ENERGY RECHARGE STATION". Use it if you need to, then exit. Head right and go through the door at the end. This is an old room we visited way back when. Drop down over to the right side of the room, where you'll find an orange door. Use a Power Bomb to open it, then head inside. There are three hopper enemies in here, and one is huge. Freeze them all and defeat them, then the door you just came through will unlock. Now, jump onto the ledge to the right, and wall jump up to the grapple block. Land on it. You were supposed to use the Grappling Beam to spin around and land on it, but wall jumping is way easier. Jump and shoot through the shutter to open it (you'll hit the switch on the other side of the shutter if the Wave Beam is equipped). Once it's opened, either wall jump up to the platform, or grapple your way up. Either way, once you get up there, drop down and go through the door. Take the "ENERGY TANK" in here and leave. Roll into a ball and go into the left corner. Bomb this spot twice and a shutter will raise you up to the top platform. Jump up there and head left, then defeat the enemies again, then go through the door that was unlocked. Back in this room, jump up a couple of ledges until you get on the small one. Use the Grappling Beam to grapple across the blocks to a pack of "MISSILES". Now, drop down the gap here and use a Power Bomb. This blows up the western corner of the platform. Drop down there and use the X-Ray Scope. Along the northern side of the wall is a secret passage, so jump through it and into a new room. Make your way through this room while defeating the enemies, then at the end of the room, use the X-Ray Scope to find a hidden Super Missile block in the floor. Blow it up with a Super Missile and drop through. Take the "POWER BOMBS" in this room, then shoot the shutter to raise it. Roll into a ball and go to where the shutter was, then lay a bomb to blow up the corner there. Roll through it and you'll drop down. Roll through the pipe and lay a bomb to raise a shutter, then go through the door. You'll fall down a platform and land on a floor. Now, drop all the way to the bottom of this room, then roll into a ball. Do a bomb jump and roll through the tunnel, then enter the door. In this room, drop down once and use the Hi-Jump Boots to reach the platform above you. Open the orange door and go in. Defeat the giant enemies in this room, then you'll come to a dead end. Roll into a ball and bomb the corner to reveal an opening. Go through the opening and bomb the other side, then you'll be in an area with a pack of "POWER BOMBS". After getting those, use a Power Bomb to blow up part of the wall, then follow the path. This is where the Morph Ball upgrade was. Roll through the tunnel to the right after bombing the cracked rock, then use the elevator that leads back to Crateria. ------------------------------ Crateria - To the Wrecked Ship ------------------------------ Missiles: 120 Super Missiles: 15 Power Bombs: 35 Energy Tanks: 7 Reserve Tanks: 2 Go through the door in front of you upon entering. Go through this corridor and defeat the Space Pirates, then go through the door. Climb up the big shaft until you see a small platform on the right side, against the wall. Jump on it and lay a bomb there to reveal a tunnel. Roll through and lay a Power Bomb to open the orange door, then go through. In the next room, head right. Freeze the four balls of liquid, and make sure that they do _not_ move up at all. Once all four are frozen, go back to the door and start a hyperspeed run. Store the energy once you reach the wall, then hyperjump directly up. Land on the right side and take the pack of "SUPER MISSILES". Roll through the tunnel to the left, then grapple across the pit of spikes. Go through the door. The door behind you is now locked. Roll through the nearby tunnel, then lay a bomb to blow away the obstruction. Now that you're at the top of the shaft, go through the door on the ceiling. Make your way up this shaft and jump through the opening at the top, then head all the way right and go through the door. Outside, go east to your ship and use it. Now that you've restocked, head all the way right. Blow away the obstruction and go through the green door. Go through this tube and to the next room. Defeat the enemies in here, then blow open the orange door at the end and go through. In here, you'll see lots of water, and a pack of Missiles sitting on a lone platform. The grapple blocks in here will crumble if you hang onto them for too long. If you fall in the water, it's a little difficult to get back up since right now, your movement in water is very limited. Anyway, grapple onto a block and land on the platform with a pack of "MISSILES". After you've gotten those, keep grappling over to the other side, then go through the door. Out here, head all the way right and drop into the water. When you drop to the very bottom, turm left and shoot the wall to break open a tunnel. Jump and roll into a ball, then roll through the tunnel. Follow the path to another pack of "MISSILES", then make your way out of the tunnel. Jump all the way up to the top, out of the water. Now, jump onto the platform sticking out of the water and grapple across the blocks to the next platform. Keep doing this until you get to a platform with no grapple blocks nearby. Grapple onto the enemy flying in the air, then land on the next platform. Head right and follow the path to a green door. Blast it open and go through. -------------------------- Wrecked Ship - Exploration -------------------------- Missiles: 130 Super Missiles: 20 Power Bombs: 35 Energy Tanks: 7 Reserve Tanks: 2 The power is currently out on this abandoned ship. Hmmm... Oh well. Start by going through this corridor and going through the door at the end. In this room, ignore the door in front of you for now and drop down the stairs. Keep dropping down the stairs until you come to a locked door. Drop down one more set of stairs, and then bomb the left corner of the wall. Roll through the tunnel revealed and jump across the spikes. At the end of the room, you will find a pack of "MISSILES". Get them and exit the room. Drop all the way down to another locked door. Shoot the floor here and roll through the pipe when you can, then open the green door on the floor and drop through. In here, head all the way right to a dead end. When you reach the dead end, roll through the small tunnel and bomb the block, then roll through. Defeat the eyelid in this room using a Super Missile when the eye is open. Once it's defeated, a blue door will be revealed. Go through. We're now locked in what appears to be an empty room. Eventually, you will see some flames form a monster, which is a boss. Read the Bosses section for help on getting through this fight. Once Phantoon has been defeated, the power will have turned back on! Grab the supplies he left behind, and go through the now-unlocked door. Back in this room, roll through the tunnel again. Head all the way left and defeat the orb enemies along the way. There are also robots that look just like R2-D2 from Star Wars, but they're not all that harmful, really. At the end, go through the door. In here is a "MAP STATION", which is now powered up. Use it to download the whole map for this area, then exit. Head right and go through the door on the ceiling. Back in this shaft, climb your way up and shoot the ceiling. Jump up and roll through the broken pipe, then bomb the rest of the obstruction. Jump up and go through the unlocked door on the left. Avoid the sparks that appear in here, and take the pack of "SUPER MISSILES". Exit the room. Head directly right and bomb the corner of the wall, then roll through the tunnel and go through the door. In this room, you'll see a conveyor belt and some spikes. There are also some green puffy acid balls that cannot be hurt. Get on the conveyor belt and head right. At the end of the path, get on the second robot you come to and lay a Power Bomb to blow up four parts of the wall. These are Morph Ball tunnels. Use a bomb jump to get in the second one from the bottom, then head right to a pack of "SUPER MISSILES". After getting those, make your way out of this room. Roll back through the tunnel, then climb up the shaft some more. Ignore the unlocked door you come to, then you'll come to two doors, one on the left and the other on the right. Take the one on the right. Use the "SAVE STATION" in here, then exit the room. Continue up the shaft and shoot the ceiling to reveal a path. Take that path up, then continue up to a door on the ceiling. Go through. In this room, go through the corridor and defeat all the enemies. Once they're all defeated, all three doors in the room will unlock. Go through the one on the far right. In here, jump across the conveyor belts while shooting the robots. They'll fall into the spike pits. At the end, take the pack of "MISSILES", then exit. Head through the door to the far west after defeating the enemies again. We're really out in Crateria right now, but I'll just consider it the Wrecked Ship since we won't be out here for too long, and you're basically still on the ship anyway. Carefully hop across the platforms here, because if you don't, you'll fall down and will have to go through the ship again to get back up here. Eventually, you'll find flying green platforms. Jump on it and wait until you see another one above you. Jump to that one. Do this a third time. When the third platform thing moves left, shoot the wall to reveal a pack of Missiles. Spin jump and touch it to snag the pack of "MISSILES". Fall down and you'll land on a green platform. Head all the way left and bomb around that area until you reveal a Super Missile block. Shoot it with a Super Missile, then drop down through the hole while in Morph Ball mode. Bomb the wall you land next to, then roll left to another pack of "MISSILES". To save lots of time, rise up out of Morph Ball mode and shoot the part of the wall to the right to break it. Jump against the right wall and roll into a ball while in the air, then roll through the tunnel. Rise up and aim up, shooting a Super Missile at the ceiling above you, then jump out. Now, head right and use the X-Ray Scope to find a piece of the floor you can shoot. Do so to break it, then roll into the tunnel. Take the eastern path to a door and some enemies you can refill on. Head through the door when you're ready. In the next area, simply head right and through the door, defeating the enemies along the way. Head right and through that door, back into the Wrecked Ship. The door behind you is locked, and we're at a room with a pit full of spikes! Simply use the Grappling Beam on the grapple blocks on the ceiling, then you'll eventually make it across to a Chozo statue. It is standing up with its hands held up. Jump on its hands and roll into a ball, then it will come to life. It will take you through a secret passage to a door, then release you. Nifty. Don't go through the door just yet. Go by the door and lay a bomb to blow up part of the floor. Roll through the tunnel and then bomb the top pipes. Stand up and shoot up to make a path. Jump up there and roll through, then follow the path, shooting the robots along the way. You will come to a Chozo statue. Take the pack of "MISSILES" it is holding, and then lay a Power Bomb to blow the statue up and reveal a path. Do a hyperspeed run across the conveyor belt, and store the charge when you get by the wall. Hyperjump directly up, then land on the left. Drop through to the bottom area. Using the X-Ray Scope, you can see that there's a pit between the platform you're on and the platform with the orb. Jump across and shoot the orb, then take the "RESERVE TANK". Now, drop down the pit nearby. Head left and through the tunnel again, then when you get back to the secret area, go through the door. Shoot the orb in here and take the "GRAVITY SUIT". Awesome! Now Samus has a purple suit on, and we can move much more freely underwater! Now we have a 75% damage resistance to all attacks! Go through the left door, and you'll fall into the water. Now that you can move freely underwater, jump onto the left platform next to you and grapple from the enemy to the platform. Head right and go through the door. We are back in the first area of the ship. Go right in this corridor and enter the door. In the main shaft, save your game at the Save Station in the door in front of you if you wish, then exit the Save Station room. Drop down once and go through the flashing door. In this room, head into the water and go right. Jump onto the ledge and go through the door. In this room, you will see spike platforms that go up and down. Jump onto the spike platforms and use the gaps as safe zones. At the end, go through the door. Go right and shoot the ceiling, then jump through and do the same with the next ceiling. You will come to a door. Ignore it and jump on the last platform, then shoot the ceiling to open up a pathway. Jump through it and shoot the ceiling again, then blast open the red door and go through. In this watery room, use the grappling blocks to reach the floating platform. Jump to each one and grapple to the blocks on the ceiling you'll find, then swing to the "ENERGY TANK". Exit this room and make your way back to the entrance of the ship, then exit it for good. --------------------------- Crateria - Path to Brinstar --------------------------- Missiles: 155 Super Missiles: 30 Power Bombs: 35 Energy Tanks: 8 Reserve Tanks: 3 Head all the way back to your ship. It's not that long of a trek back. Once you make it, restock and save at your ship, then go all the way left and through the door. You know the drill. Drop through the gap at the end of this room, then enter the door on the floor. Drop all the way down, go through the door, go through that room and through the door, then take the elevator down which leads to Brinstar. -------------------------- Brinstar - Path to Maridia -------------------------- Missiles: 155 Super Missiles: 30 Power Bombs: 35 Energy Tanks: 8 Reserve Tanks: 3 Upon arrival, head right and go through the door there. We haven't been in this room for quite awhile, have we? Go through the next door on the right. In here, go all the way right and defeat the enemies, then lay a Power Bomb. This blows some of the obstruction away. Shoot up at the left part of the ceiling, near the obstruction. Then, jump and collect the "ENERGY TANK" that was revealed. Now, go back to the start of the room and start a hyperspeed run. Store the energy when you get in the middle of the obstruction, then do a hyperjump up through the middle, which is really a gap. Hold Left to land onto the platform, then go through the door. In here, you can see an invisible bridge using the X-Ray Scope. Jump onto said bridge, then dash across it and you'll get by safely. At the end, enter the door and take the pack of "MISSILES". Now, go to the left side of the platform the Missile pack was on and bomb it, revealing another pack of "MISSILES". With both of those packs obtained, go out of this room and out of the invisible bridge room. Back here, bomb the middle of the room to fall down, then bomb the right side and roll out of the shaft. Roll through the tunnel and go back left, through the door. Go through the door in the following room as well. Back in the elevator room, head all the way to the western end, then lay a Power Bomb to blow away the wall. Head left some more, and then bomb the corner of the wall. Roll through and bomb the wall again, then defeat the enemies and go through the door at the end. In here, go west and through that door. Back in this room, head left and bomb jump into the small tunnel. Roll through and bomb the odd-looking rocks under the platform, then roll through and you'll fall down to a Chozo statue. Lay a Power Bomb here to reveal a pipe tunnel by the statue. Roll through it and drop all the way down, then go through the red door. In this room, head left and defeat the enemies, then go back to the entrance of the room. Do a hyperspeed run to the left, and you'll break through lots of walls. Take the "ENERGY TANK" at the end. Make your way out of this room, then once you're back in the previous room, take the small tunnel again and enter the door on the right. Back in the green room, head all the way right and go through the door. Jump up and dash across the bridges here. Go through the door at the end, which leads to a red shaft. In this room, drop down and use a Power Bomb to blow up the floor. Continue all the way down and go through the door on the right. Unequip the Hi-Jump Boots for this room, then jump to the platform and reequip them. Go through the door ahead. Head through this room as well, then through the hallway. In the tube, lay a Power Bomb. About a couple of seconds later, it will crack and break open. You'll then fall down. Open the red door at the bottom and use the "SAVE STATION", then exit. Climb your way up to the top, then enter the door on the ceiling. --------------------- Maridia - Exploration --------------------- Missiles: 165 Super Missiles: 30 Power Bombs: 35 Energy Tanks: 10 Reserve Tanks: 3 We will be here for a LONG time, so be prepared. Upon entering, blast open the red door on the right and go through. In here, raise the shutter by shooting a Super Missile at the green lamp. Now, open the door you entered from, but don't go through it! Make your way through the room and defeat the enemies, then when you reach the door at the end, make sure all enemies are defeated. From the door, do a hyperspeed run over to the left side of the room, then store the energy when you get to the door you opened. Go through. Quickly go left and to the second bush that's light green. Stand in it and do a hyperjump directly up. If done correctly, you'll break the ceiling and get a pack of "MISSILES". Hold Left to land on the platform by where the Missile pack was. Now, make your way up the rest of this room, then go through the door. In this room, drop down and when you land, roll into a ball. Roll down and when you fall down the hill, hold Left and you'll go through a tunnel to the next area. Roll through the tunnel and bomb jump up the ledge, then take the pack of "SUPER MISSILES". Make your way out of this area. Back here, head right. Keep going right and jump up to a platform, then keep going and you'll drop down to a door on the floor. Enter it. In the next room, head left and jump over the gap, ignoring the Space Pirates which cannot yet be harmed. After crossing the first gap, drop down the second one. Hug the right wall, then roll into a ball and bomb jump, holding Right. You'll enter a tunnel. Roll through and go through the red door. In here, head right and jump onto the turtle creature in the middle. It will spin and jump up. Jump up and grapple onto the block there, then swing around and land on the top of it, collecting the "ENERGY TANK". Exit and reenter the room so that the turtle will be stationary again, then jump on it. Make sure you're facing right, then grapple onto the block again. Move as far down as you can go, and swing so that you can launch yourself over to the right. Do so, and keep holding Right. You will land on part of the wall. Aim directly down and shoot, then jump off and do a spin jump. Hold Right to get a pack of "MISSILES". If you didn't get them, try again. When you get them, exit the room. Go back through the tunnel, and then climb back up. Head all the way right and go through the door on the ceiling. Climb back up and jump onto the hill to the left. Make your way up the hills until you reach the top, where the metal platform is. Once you reach it, grapple onto the single block on the ceiling. Grapple your way across the room. If you fall, land onto the floating grapple blocks and quickly grapple back up. Once you reach the end of the room, go through the door. In the next area, climb up the right side of the shaft. Once you reach the top, enter the door on the ceiling. Head to the right in here, and once you reach a dead end, use the X-Ray Scope. You'll find that the wall is a secret passage. Take the passage to a pack of "MISSILES". Exit the secret passage and go left. Jump onto the platform above, then onto the platform floating in the water. Now, jump left and go through the door. Here, make your way left, defeating the enemies along the way. At the dead end, jump through the wall and continue left. Make your way up the shaft and go through the door. Use the enemies in the pits here if you need refills, then go left and drop down. Defeat the enemy here and drop down the middle to a small room. Take the pack of "MISSILES" and the pack of "SUPER MISSILES", then exit. Now, make your way out of this room. Go back to the big metal shaft room. Drop all the way to the bottom, then shoot the middle of the floor to reveal a path. Drop down this path and go right, then go through the green door. In the next room, drop down and lay a Power Bomb to make a path. Drop down the path and you'll see a new enemy. It hides in its shell whenever you approach it, but you can just kick it. Go through the door on the left. Inside, you'll find a "SAVE STATION". Save your game and exit. Start a hyperspeed run, and when you reach the very end of the path, store your energy. Do a hyperjump up the shaft nearby, then you'll land on a platform with a pack of "MISSILES". Head right and use the X-Ray Scope to find some cracked blocks. Jump over the blocks and get the pack of "SUPER MISSILES". Get on the cracked blocks and you will fall down. Now, head left and drop down to the bottom. Go all the way left until you see a big shaft with grapple blocks attached to the walls. Grapple to them and you'll hold onto the wall. Jump and grapple to the next set. Repeat this until you reach the top, then spin jump up to the platform. Use the grapple blocks on the ceiling to cross the gaps, then go through the door on the ceiling. In here, you'll see an enemy which resembles a Metroid. However, they aren't Metroids; they're clones of them. They can be defeated with your beams. Most of the pipes in here can be broken to create paths. Jump up to the right side and shoot the pipes to open paths. Keep this up until you reach the bottom floor, then go left. Shoot the pipes there, then start a hyperspeed run. You'll bust through more pipes only breakable this way. Go through the door and it will lock. Now you'll have to fight a boss, so see the Bosses section for help. Once you win, the eastern wall will break. Take the supplies he left behind and go right. Enter the door. In here, head all the way right and defeat the enemies. You'll come to some quicksand. On the obstruction above is a small opening. Spin jump into the air and quickly roll into a ball, then enter the tunnel. Do this fast and you'll enter it. Roll and take the "ENERGY TANK" there, then make your way through the rest of the tunnel. Go through the door on the right. In this room, kill the Metroid clones before doing anything else. Grapple jump your way up the wall like you did earlier, then go through the eastern door. In here, immediately defeat the Metroid clone upon entering. Drop down and use the grapple blocks to navigate the area. Defeat the Metroid clones, too. On the last grapple block, you'll see a grapple wall. Grapple to it and grapple your way up the wall. Now you'll have to grapple across more blocks and another wall. Keep defeating the Metroid clones you find. Once you climb the second wall, drop down and kill the Metroid clone. Head right and look up to find two grapple blocks. Grapple to one and swing yourself so that you swing right. Release at the right time to launch yourself over the wall. You could also use the one grapple block connected to the wall, but the method I mentioned is easier. Once you make it up, grapple onto the blocks on the ceiling and go through the red door. In here you will find a "SAVE STATION". Use it, and go through the door on the right. This room contains an "ENERGY RECHARGE STATION". Use that as well, then go back two rooms. Drop directly down and go through the green door. In this room, jump across the pits (the spikes aren't real, so they don't do damage), and when you reach the end of the room, shoot the middle of the wall to reveal a pack of "MISSILES". Get them and go back to the entrance of the room. Drop down the first spike pit to find a passage to the bottom. Defeat the eyelid by shooting a Super Missile into it while it is open, then go through the door that was revealed. Drop down and head left. Prepare for a boss. Read the Bosses section for help on winning the fight. Once you win the battle, he'll drop into the sand, and the four creatures that were here earlier will bring him down through the sand. Take the refills he left behind, then go through the unlocked door to the left. Shoot the orb the Chozo statue is holding in here, then take the "SPACE JUMP". Now we can do a spin jump repeatedly! Awesome. Exit this room, and back at the previous room, use the Space Jump to reach the door at the top right. Go through. Back here, spin jump up to the top and go through the door. Spin jump your way through this room, completely ignoring the Metroid clones. At the end, go through the door. Drop all the way down and go through that door. Head left in here and use the enemies for refills, then jump up onto the obstruction. Roll through the Morph Ball tunnel, using bomb jumps to help you get through it. You will eventually drop down. Stay in the quicksand and you'll sink to a lower room. Keep sinking down to an actual room. Head all the way left and go through the door. Here, go left and drop down, then head right and shoot the floor to reveal a passage. Drop down. Shoot the shell enemy in here and keep moving left while it is in the air. You'll keep hitting it back. Let it fall into the quicksand, then you do the same. Fall down to the bottom room. Head left when you fall down, and spin jump your way up to a pack of "MISSILES". Drop down and head to the right side this time. To the left of the maze-like area is a shaft. Climb it up. Now, roll into a ball and drop down to a platform which will crumble. Hold Right to enter a tunnel, then bomb the rock platform by the Power Bomb pack to blow it up. Take the pack of "POWER BOMBS" now, then roll left and bomb jump out of the tunnel. Roll all the way right in the quicksand, then you'll fall down to another room. Spin jump to the right side of the room, and go through the door at the end. Grapple onto the cracked block on the ceiling in here, then stay on it until it crumbles. Spin jump through the small hole that was revealed, then spin jump up to the very top. Defeat the enemies here, then go right and drop down. Walk on the platform until part of it crumbles, then you will fall down. Do the same for the other platforms, then go through the door on the right. In this room, you'll see a strange robot. It does not harm you unless you touch it, so do not kill it. Lay a Power Bomb to blow up the eastern wall, then follow the robot as it digs through walls of sand. Go through the door at the end when it finally stops digging. In the next room, roll into a ball and drop down the small pit. Head left and follow the path down, then bomb jump your way through the path. At the end, shoot the orb the Chozo statue is holding, then take the "SPRING BALL". Now we can jump normally as a ball by pressing A! Roll back into a ball and go through the tunnel, using your new ability to jump back up. When you get back to the door at the top, go through. Make your way through the robot's room. Once you've exited that room, head left and a block will crumble. Shoot the left part of the ground and drop down. Go through the door. Here, spin jump left and go through that door too. Spin jump through this room as well, then go through the door. Lay a Power Bomb to reveal a passage in the ceiling. Make your way up, then blast open the green door and jump through. You will be carried all the way up by a pipe, then you'll enter the next room. Go right and jump up the shaft, then head right and drop down. Head left and drop down here, then do a spin jump back up. Land on the platform with the flashing door, then go through it. In this room, make your way up the shaft while defeating the enemies, then enter the door. Defeat the pile of enemies here, then go through the next door. The door behind you is now locked. Great. Ignore the Space Pirates for a moment. Drop down to the bottom of the room, then head right. Shoot the marble the Chozo statue holds, then take the "PLASMA BEAM"! It automatically makes the Spazer Beam get unequipped, and it cannot be equipped as long as the Plasma Beam is, but that's okay. This is the most powerful beam in the game. Now, go through this room, killing the Space Pirates with the help of your new beam. Once they're defeated, the door you came from will unlock. Go back through it. Defeat the enemies in this hallway again, then go through the door. Drop all the way down to the bottom in here, then go through the door. Drop down here as well, and into the water. Head all the way left until you reach the bottom, then go right and enter the door. Use the enemies in here if you need supplies, then go through the unlocked door ahead. In this room, spin jump your way up and defeat the enemies along the way, then enter the door. Here, drop down. You'll see a pit of spikes, which are spreaded all over throughout this room. Be careful. Go through the Morph Ball tunnel and make your way to the other side of the room. Go through the door. You'll drop down in a shaft you've been in already. Ignore the Metroid clones and go through the door you dropped down in front of. Back here, head left and jump onto the obstruction. Roll into the tunnel and make your way through it, then you'll drop down. Let yourself sink in the quicksand until you reach the bottom room. Then, go through the door on the left. In here, head left and jump down, then go right. Shoot the floor to reveal a path, then drop down. Spin jump over the sand pit here, and when you get to the second one, let yourself sink into it. You'll eventually reach another room which we haven't been in yet. Head left and go up the small shaft, then shoot the block. Jump onto the ledge and drop down, then jump up and stop. Using the X-Ray Scope, you can see that the bottom rock is a set of crumbling blocks. Destroy the top one by shooting it, then roll into a ball and use the Spring Ball jump to go up. When you get up, roll through the tunnel, then jump left and take the pack of "MISSILES". Take the right path this time, then destroy the orb and take the "RESERVE TANK". Now, roll back down and onto the crumbling blocks. You'll fall into the quicksand below. While still in Morph Ball mode, roll left and you'll fall down to another room. Make your way to the western side of the room and go through the door. Go through this hallway to the next room. In here, roll into a ball and roll into the middle to drop into a secret area. The door on the right leads to a "MAP STATION", which is pretty useless to us now. Head through the left door. This leads back to Brinstar. -------------------------- Brinstar - Back to Norfair -------------------------- Missiles: 205 Super Missiles: 45 Power Bombs: 40 Energy Tanks: 12 Reserve Tanks: 4 Go left and navigate through the room, then shoot the green lamp on the shutter with a Super Missile to open it. Continue, then drop down. Now, enter the door on the right. Ignore the elevator for a moment, then blast the Super Missile blocks within the walls. Take the path to another room. Jump onto the platform here, then take the path leading back to Kraid's hideout. Shoot the part of the platform by the door to break it, then drop to the bottom. Roll into the corner and bomb it to make a path. Roll through and enter the door on the ceiling. Defeat the enemies in this room, then head all the way to the end. Lay a Power Bomb to reveal a path leading to some Missiles. Jump up there using the Spring Ball's abilites, then take your pack of "MISSILES". If they disappear, just bomb that spot. Go back to the Norfair elevator and ride it down. ------------------------------ Norfair - Showdown with Ridley ------------------------------ Missiles: 210 Super Missiles: 45 Power Bombs: 40 Energy Tanks: 12 Reserve Tanks: 4 When you enter, drop all the way down to the bottom floor (on the first floor, though, not the second. If that makes sense), then go through the door. Use the Save Station here and go through the next door. Do a hyperspeed run through this room, then go through the door. Here, make your way east and go through that door. Go through the door on the floor in this room. Down here, drop all the way down and go through the door on the right. Make your way through this fiery room. In the next room, drop down the shaft and use a Power Bomb to open the orange door. Go through. Head west in here and go through the tunnel. At the end, you'll see Ridley's head. Head back through the tunnel and go into the lake of lava. It won't harm you with the Gravity Suit equipped. Make your way left, past the heads that shoot energy orbs at you. Spin jump to the top and go through the head of Ridley, then through the door. In here is another door and an elevator. Enter the door, and inside, you will find a "SAVE STATION". Use it and go back to the previous room, then ride the elevator down. We're now in the lower section of Norfair, hence the change of music. Go left and you'll see some dragon enemies. They're a more powerful version of the dragon enemies you fought earlier. Jump your way across the platforms. Every two or so seconds, fire will shoot out from the platforms. At the end, enter the door. In here, spin jump across the pool of acid to a platform. Use a Power Bomb to blow up part of the wall, revealing a Chozo statue. Jump onto the hands of the statue and roll into a ball. After a few seconds, the pool of acid will drain. Drop all the way down, then drop down the pit. Head left and roll into a ball, then bomb the piece of the floor. Bomb your way through the tunnel, then defeat the enemies here. Go through the door at the end. Upon entering here, you'll see a pack of Missiles. However, the entire floor in the middle of the room will crumble if you stand on it! Spin jump across and claim the pack of "MISSILES", then get on the crumbling floor to fall down. Now, head right and you'll see a locked door. Suddenly, a Chozo statue will drop down and turn gold! Read the Bosses section to see how to defeat it. After the fight, take the refills he left behind. Now, jump up where the unlocked door is and you will see a small ledge. Lay a Power Bomb to make a path on the ceiling, which leads to the final pack of "SUPER MISSILES"! After you get them, go through the door that is now unlocked. In here, shoot the orb the Chozo statue is holding, then take the "SCREW ATTACK". This upgrade is simply awesome. Using the Space Jump, you have electricity surrounding you, and you can destroy certain things and lots of enemies by simply spinning into them. Demonstrate your new ability by Screw Attacking up this shaft. Enter the door in the middle. Inside is an "ENERGY RECHARGE STATION". Use it and exit the room, then climb up to the top of the shaft. Go through that door. Use the Screw Attack to get through this room. You'll plow straight through all the enemies you couldn't normally kill! Shoot the green lamp with a Super Missile to raise the shutter, then continue and go through the door. In here, simply go right and through that door. You'll hear rumbling in this room. Acid will quickly rise up in the room. Spin jump through the cracks in the pillars to break them with your Screw Attack. Do this until you reach the end of the room, then go through the door. Freeze the face on the wall, then spin jump your way to the top. You can even kill the Space Pirates with one blow, thanks to the Screw Attack! Don't go through the door at the top. Shoot the ceiling to make a path, then jump through this path and go through that door. In the next room, jump onto the platform below and shoot the middle to make a path. Drop down and roll into a ball, then roll all the way to the left. Lay a Power Bomb to blow up nearly all the platform, then roll left into a secret area. Take the pack of "MISSILES", then exit. Spin jump back up to the door you entered from, then go through it. Back here, drop down and shoot the floor, then drop down again and go through the door. You'll hear rumbling in this room as you fall all the way to the bottom. Acid will rise up fast, so quickly make your way through this room using the spin jump. All the way at the top right part of the room is a door. Enter it. Go through this hallway and go through the door. Shoot the monster on the wall with a Super Missile to blow it up. Go to where the monster is and walk straight through the wall. Weird. Follow the path and you'll be on a claw-shaped platform. Hmmm... Spin jump to the left and land on the platform there. Spin jump over to the right and be careful not to kill the fireflies. Take the "ENERGY TANK" on the platform there. Spin jump back up and go to the start of the room, then make your way up to the top. You can just spin jump over the boulders. At the top, go left and you can go through the wall there. Go through the door you find. In the next room, go left and make your way across the platforms, then climb up the small shaft. Go right and you will find a pack of "MISSILES". But that's not all. Use a Power Bomb to blow up parts of the wall. Jump in Morph Ball mode and enter the very top tunnel, then roll and fall down. Jump back up and hold Right to enter a tunnel. Go right and you'll fall down, so jump and hold Right again. Keep doing this and eventually you'll reach the end. Bomb the small block and enter the door on the floor. In here, shoot the head on the eastern pillar, then jump on it and it will crumble, allowing you to take the pack of "POWER BOMBS". Shoot the head on the left pillar, then jump on it. After it crumbles, go through the left door. Head left and go through the invisible wall, then through the door again. Make your way through this room again, then enter the door you come to. Here, spin jump through the room and you'll come to a tunnel. Roll through it and jump onto the platform. Bomb the third tile on the left to make a path. Roll through it to another room, then shoot the head and jump on the pillar. Take the lpack of "MISSILES". That's the last Missile pack! Exit this secret room and climb your way up the rest of the room. Now, go back two rooms to the room with the faces on the wall. Drop all the way down the shaft and go through the door at the bottom. In the hallway, shoot the rocks on the ground to reveal two holes. Drop down a hole and lay a bomb at the bottom. You'll fall down to the lower part of the room. Drop down while defeating the enemies, then go through the door you come to. Inside is a "SAVE STATION". Use it and exit the room, then drop all the way to the bottom. Bomb the right side of the floor to reveal a tunnel. Bomb the two rocks and roll through the tunnel. Bomb the head at the end, then lay a Power Bomb to open the orange door. Drop through it. In here, lay a Power Bomb to blow up some of the left wall, and a shutter will raise up. Jump onto it in the ball form, then roll through the tunnel. Bomb the rock at the end. Now, defeat the enemies in this room and go all the way left. At the end, use a Power Bomb to reveal two paths. Take the southwestern tunnel to a pack of "POWER BOMBS", the last pack in the game. Roll back through the tunnel and drop down the other path you opened. You'll see a spike platform in the middle. Get on it and it will lower. Get on the safe platforms and wait on it to rise again, then drop down. Repeat this for the second spike platform, then go through the green door. Here, you'll see a new kind of Space Pirates. And boy, are they hard. They throw their claws at you and kick you. They are invulnerable to everything. To defeat them, jump over them and they'll jump as well. Then, they'll turn gold. Shoot them at that point to damage them. Once both of them are defeated, go through the unlocked door to the left. In this room, kill the enemies and make your way to the next room. Here, kill all the enemies in this room, and you'll come to an eyelid at the end of the path. Shoot a Super Missile into the eye to reveal a door. Go back to the previous room where there are respawning enemies, then refill everything all the way. Then, go through the door that was revealed when you shot the eyelid. In this room, you'll see an eye in the shadows. It's Ridley! He will appear, then you will have to battle him for real this time. See the Bosses section for help. After you've defeated him, watch his body break apart in pieces. Bye bye! Take the refills he left behind and go through the door that was unlocked. You will immediately see a broken capsule on the ground. The friendly Metroid we saw at the beginning of the game was inside of it! Shoot the rock under the door and take the "ENERGY TANK". Now we have everything we can get! Now to get out of here and go on to the final area. Make your way back to the room where the Save Station is. Save your game and exit the Save Station room. Head up and shoot the ceiling to make a path. Jump through and roll into a ball, then jump out and go through the door on the right. In this room, go through the door in this hallway. Climb up to the top of the shaft and head left, through the wall. Then enter the door. Make your way left through this room, then go through the door at the top. In here, head all the way left and roll through the tunnel, then head up the platforms. Enter the door. Head left to fall down some platforms, then go left. Screw Attack through the room and roll through the tunnel, then go through the top door. Now, head all the way to the elevator that leads to Brinstar. --------------------------- Brinstar - Path to Crateria --------------------------- Missiles: 230 Super Missiles: 50 Power Bombs: 50 Energy Tanks: 14 Reserve Tanks: 4 Simply enter the left door, and keep going through the rooms until you get to the big red shaft. I suggest unequipping the Screw Attack for this room, because you'll break through all the platforms. Space Jump your way through this room, using the purple enemies near the top as platforms. Shoot the ceiling and jump through, then go through the door. Reequip the Screw Attack and make your way through this room, going through the door at the end. Here, make your way to the top of the shaft and take the elevator up. ------------------------------ Crateria - Beneath the Surface ------------------------------ Missiles: 230 Super Missiles: 50 Power Bombs: 50 Energy Tanks: 14 Reserve Tanks: 4 Start by entering the door on the ceiling. Climb up the shaft, then shoot the ceiling to make a path. Jump up and go all the way left, through the door. Go through the hallway which leads outside. Make your way left to your ship, then save and restock there. Now, go all the way left and through that door. Here, go all the way left and break through the rocks in the wall, then go through the door. Drop down the shaft, and enter the red door. This hallway is quiet, and looks sorta ruined. Head all the way right and go through the door at the end. In this dark room, you'll see four statues combined together. They are Kraid, Phantoon, Draygon, and Ridley. Each time you defeated one of them, you could've come here and watched their spirits get released. Watch as their spirits get released one by one. After all four of them have been released, the big statue will sink into the water below, and a path will be revealed. Jump in the water, and take the elevator down to the final area. --------------------------------- Tourian - The Final Confrontation --------------------------------- Missiles: 230 Super Missiles: 50 Power Bombs: 50 Energy Tanks: 14 Reserve Tanks: 4 Let's do this. Drop down and enter the door on the right, where you will find a "SAVE STATION", which you should most defenitely use. Exit the room and enter the door on the left. In here, there are turrets that will shoot orange rings at you. Head left and say hello to the Metroids. These are the real thing, not the clones! To defeat them, you must freeze them first, otherwise they will be completely invulnerable. Once they're frozen, pelt them with either three Missiles or one Super Missile to kill them. They will leave behind tons of refills for your Missiles, so don't worry. If they latch onto you, lay three Power Bombs to destroy them before they suck your life away. Defeat all the Metroids in this room, then go through the unlocked door at the end. Drop down onto the platform below, and you'll see a Metroid under it. Freeze it from where you're standing, then drop down from the right and kill it. Kill the next Metroid, then go through the door that was unlocked at the bottom. This is another room filled with turrets and Metroids. Make your way through the room, killing all the Metroids along the way. Be careful not to fall into the lava. After all the Metroids are dead and you reach the end of the room, enter the door. In this room, drop down the platforms and defeat the Metroids. At the bottom, defeat the last Metroid and go through the door on the floor. This is a sandy room with enemies besides Metroids. These enemies are invulnerable to everything except Super Missiles. Just ignore them and go through the door to the left. In the next room, you'll see a rather big Chozo statue. The door you just came through is now locked, by the way. Shoot the statue and it will fall apart. Go left and through that door. In this room, you'll see more dead creatures whos bodies are still standing. Shoot them to crumble them, then head left. You'll see another one of those blue enemies. Shoot it with some Super Missiles, then suddenly, a giant Metroid will appear and latch onto the enemy! It will suck the life out of it, making it just like the other dead bodies we just saw. So that's the cause of all this. It will then latch onto Samus! You can't escape from its grasp, so just sit there. When you run out of Energy Tanks and your energy reaches exactly one point, it will suddenly stop. Then it will stop draining your life, and you'll hear it cry. This is the same Metroid we saw in that capsule at the beginning of the game; the friendly one that Samus is friends with! It went insane, because apparently lots of energy was transferred into it. It will then head left. Follow it and shoot the web stuff, then take the path to the next room. Shoot the web stuff here as well, then go through the door on the left. In this room is a "MISSILE RECHARGE STATION" and an "ENERGY RECHARGE STATION". Defenitely use the energy one; you know you need it! Use the Missile one too, if need be, then exit this room and enter the red door. Go through this hallway and you'll find an eyelid at the end. Shoot the eye with a Super Missile and a door will be revealed. Enter it. You'll immediately drop down to another door leading to a "SAVE STATION". By all means, do NOT use it! Why, you ask? Because if you do, then you will never be able to go back since all of the doors are locked. This is why you should only use the first Save Station in this area. Anyway, continue down and go through the red door. In this room, you'll see that the room is rumbling. You will then see a small pool of acid rise up, then it quits. There are turrets all over the place here. Shoot the red tubes with Super Missiles. It takes a few to destroy them. Head left and to the next two tubes. Destroy either one and both will be destroyed at the same time. Use the spaces as Morph Ball tunnels and continue on. Keep doing this while avoiding the turrets and such, then you'll shortly come to a big glass tube, with a brain encased inside. Shoot it with a few normal Missiles and one side will break. Keep shooting it until the glass tube breaks entirely, then shoot it with lots of Super Missiles. Eventually the turrets will stop shooting, and the entire area will crumble. The acid will also recede, leaving only the floor you're on remaining. You also freed the big brain, which is the Motherbrain. Suddenly, its entire body rises up, then it will open its eye and scream. It's time to end this! Read the Bosses section for help on winning the final battle. After the Motherbrain is defeated, a time bomb will be set, and the wall to the left will explode. ---------------- Tourian - Escape ---------------- Missiles: 230 Super Missiles: 50 Power Bombs: 50 Energy Tanks: 14 Reserve Tanks: 4 We only have three minutes to escape this place, and the entire planet! Head left at the new path that was revealed, then shoot the shutters once to blow them all up. Don't you wish you had this beam earlier? Go through the door on the floor. In the next room, drop down the shaft and defeat the Space Pirates, then go through the door. You can either take the top or bottom path in this room. And by "top", I mean the middle platform. If you take the top path, kill the Space Pirate and do a hyperspeed run. You'll kill some Space Pirates along the way. Simply keep following the path, and when you see an opening, jump into it and continue to the door. As for the bottom path, do a hyperspeed run and store the charge, then go to the shaft at the end and hyperjump up. Either way, go through the door. In here, you'll start falling down. Land on a platform and Space Jump all the way up to a ledge. Ignore the Space Pirates; they will only get in your way. Simply follow the path and you'll fall down a long shaft. Either make your way up these platforms normally, or just Space Jump up. Either way, get to the top-left platform at the highest point, then keep following the path to a door, which you should enter. This room will fill with acid fast! Kill the Space Pirates and go right, and carefully jump up the platforms as fast as you can. You will eventually come to a door on the ceiling. Go through it. ----------------- Crateria - Escape ----------------- Missiles: 230 Super Missiles: 50 Power Bombs: 50 Energy Tanks: 14 Reserve Tanks: 4 Make your way up this shaft. All the doors near here are locked. When you get up the shaft, head right and roll through the Morph Ball tunnel. Drop all the way down and go through that door. Head all the way right and enter that door as well. In here, you'll see those creatures that taught you two useful techniques in the game! Shoot the bottom-right part of the wall, and they'll use that path as an escape. Go back two rooms, head up the shaft, then go right and through the door. Head all the way right to your ship, then enter it. Samus will escape off of the planet which is about to explode. As she leaves, watch as Planet Zebes blows up into nothingness. Congratulations! You have just beaten Super Metroid! If you followed this walkthrough from the beginning to the end, you will have completed the game with a full 100%. The percentage of items you got will be shown after the credits. If you beat the game in over three hours, Samus will show her face. However, if you beat the game in under three hours, you will get to see Samus's whole body, meaning she takes off her suit. Either way, you have just beaten Super Metroid, one of the greatest Super Nintendo games ever made! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ========== V. Bosses ========== In this section, I will list all of the bosses in the game, along with info about how to defeat them and such. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ridley (1st Fight) Found: Ceres Station Boss Strategy: This isn't so much of a boss fight as it is a mini-boss one. It isn't so hard, either. All you must do is shoot Ridley. Shoot him anywhere and he'll get damaged. His only attacks are to spit some fireballs out at you and to swing around his tail. Just avoid these and keep shooting. Aim by holding the D-Pad in a diagonal direction. Eventually, Ridley will fly off. Run away from him once you see him appear onscreen again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Torizo Found: Crateria Boss Strategy: The target on this boss is its chest. That's where the weak point is. If you don't know what you're doing, this can be a rather difficult battle. It attacks by luring you into a corner and swinging its arm at you, and by shooting waves of energy at you as well. However, all it takes is 5 Missiles to the chest plate to break it. That's not the end of the fight, though! It will then start attacking you more aggresively, and it will spit out some bombs which you should jump over. After some more Missile shots to the chest, you will win. However, if you use the Power Beam, its head will come off and you'll have to keep shooting before you win. You can also shoot the bombs he spits out for some supplies. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spore Spawn Found: Brinstar Boss Strategy: When the battle starts, shoot all the spores that fall down, and then you'll see the boss reveal itself. The key to this battle is to roll into a Morph Ball, then roll into the left corner. Do not roll into the left corner on the upper ledge, though; just stay on the ground. The Spore Spawn will swing back and forth through the room, but as long as you stay in a corner, it will never hit you. Spores will fall down the room, but those won't hit you either if you stay balled up in a corner. After the spores go away, the core of the Spore Spawn will open. Shoot it quickly with some Missiles. Charge Beam shots work too, but not as good as the Missiles. As you damage the Spore Spawn more, it will get more dark. After it gets reddish, it will become MUCH faster. This is where it gets a bit difficult to survive, but as long as you keep up the strategy mentioned above, you should come out okay. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kraid Found: Brinstar Boss Strategy: Make sure you have some Super Missiles left over when you enter this battle! When the battle begins, shoot Kraid's eyes. They will flash yellow, then his mouth will open. Immediately fire a Super Missile into his mouth, then he'll rise up some more. He will crush most of the ceiling, and now we truly battle him. Jump onto a platform above. He will now have some new attacks, such as throwing a boomerang claw at you. You can shoot it for some occasional supplies. He will also shoot out thorns from his stomach, so jump over those. For his last attack, he'll try to slash at you if you're close to him. Just shoot him in the eyes and shoot a Super Missile into his mouth to damage him. You can also use normal Missiles and a charged Spazer Beam shot, but they're considerably weaker. However, if you run out of Super Missiles, the other two options are your best bets. Keep up this strategy until you win. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Crocomire Found: Norfair Boss Strategy: Head right and say hello to this four-eyed freak. This thing attacks by using its claw to slash you, or by spitting out fireballs at you. His fireballs can be shot down for some supplies, but only do it if it becomes needed. The key to winning this battle is the use of Missiles and Super Missiles. You have to shoot one of those into his mouth when he opens it. For half of the fight, I suggest using normal Missiles. Charged shots will also work. Eventually, you should switch to Super Missiles. However, I find that charged shots work well too. Once he gets on a bridge, he'll fall into the acid and melt away. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Phantoon Found: Wrecked Ship Boss Strategy: This can be a pretty hard boss battle if you aren't careful. Phantoon himself is mostly harmless, since he's pretty much just a ghost. However, he will attack by spinning around the room and laying flames all over the ground, which bounce around and try to hit you. You can shoot these to kill them, and sometimes they leave behind supplies. He will keep teleporting around the room, either dropping the flames in a random spot, or dropping a lot of them in a straight line. When his eye opens, charge up your beam and release it at his eye to damage him. You can use Missiles if you want, but Super Missiles is a bad idea. As long as you avoid the flames well, you should win in no time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Botwoon Found: Maridia Boss Strategy: Stay on the far left side of the room for the entire battle, and make sure you have lots of Super Missiles. He will come out of the holes in the walls, then go in one and pop back out at another. Use the Super Missiles to shoot his head, as that's the only way you can damage him. He'll occasionally stick out of a hole and shoot out acid spores at you, so be careful at that. As long as you stay on the left side of the room and you shoot him constantly, he'll never get a chance to attack. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Draygon Found: Maridia Boss Strategy: Start off by destroying the turrets on the wall. To do that, shoot them with Missiles or Super Missiles. Now, you have two ways you can win this fight. The first way is the hard way, while using the second method, you can kill him in an instant, sacrificing some energy along with him. Anyway, to dodge his basic attack (swooping at you), roll into a ball and stay in a corner. Shoot the gunk he spits at you to avoid it. If it touches you, press Left and Right repeatedly to quickly escape. To hurt him, wait until he spits out gunk, then shoot it and shoot tons of Super Missiles at his stomach. That's really all there is to it. To win the easy way, let the gunk touch you, then he'll pick you up. He'll then spin you around the room. Try to use the Grapple Beam on one of the power conduits from the turrets. If you succeed, you'll be electrocuted, but the electricity will also transfer to him. Keep the X button held, and eventually he'll just fall and die. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Golden Torizo Found: Norfair Boss Strategy: This boss isn't much different from the one you fought way back at the beginning of the game. He basically has the same attacks. He'll slash at you, throw bombs at you, or shoot rings at you. Don't use Super Missiles, because a lot of the times he'll just catch them and throw them. Use charged shots for the entire battle. Shoot his chestplate to damage him. He takes a lot of hits, but eventually he'll go down. It's not that hard. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ridley (2nd Fight) Found: Norfair Boss Strategy: Get ready for a difficult battle. It starts with him flying up in the air, then acid will start entering the room. It recedes and goes back up rapidly. Ridley will start attacking you by shooting fireballs, by swooping at you, or by using his tail. If you jump close to his feet, he'll grab you and whack you with his tail. To defeat him, either use charged shots, Missiles, or Super Missiles. Super Missiles are by far the best choice, but you'll probably not hit him with every shot, causing you to run out eventually. When/if you run out of Super Missiles, stick to regular Missiles. As the battle goes on, Ridley will get faster and a little more aggressive. As long as you stay as far away as you can from him, then this battle may not give you too much trouble. He takes a heck of a lot of hits to go down, though. Eventually he'll start swooping around the room in a U shape, although a quick spin jump can easily avoid this. Keep pelting him with Super Missiles, and if you have to, regular Missiles. He'll go down after awhile. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Motherbrain Found: Tourian Boss Strategy: The brain will turn orange, and that's when the battle begins. Immediately shoot her head with as many Super Missiles as you can. After that, you can start dodging her attacks. To avoid her eye laser attack, simply don't jump when she uses one. They will never get low enough to hit you, and they only shoot out in a straight line. She might also spit out a bomb. If this happens, wait for about a second and a half after it lands on the ground, then jump. You should avoid the explosion that occurs along the ground. She'll also shoot rings of fire at you, which are very easy to avoid. She also has a laser attack that goes up the wall, which deals a whopping 200 damage! If you run out of Super Missiles, then just use charged shots. After awhile, Motherbrain will stop and charge up. She'll then unleash a laser that you cannot avoid. It rapidly drains your health, along with your ammo for everything! Then Samus will fall to her knees, and Motherbrain will keep attacking you. Finally, she charges up for another deadly beam. Just as she's about to unleash it, Samus's Metroid friend steps in and latches onto the Motherbrain's head! It will drain all the life energy from her, then it'll give the energy back to Samus. However, Motherbrain rises again. As the Metroid gives energy back to Samus, Motherbrain keeps attacking it. Once your health is completely replenished, the Metroid will be a yellow color. Before leaving, it will try and take a final attempt at killing the Motherbrain. However, she immediately finishes it off! It then sinks down towards Samus, powering her up. Now you have the Hyper Beam! The battle now continues. From here on, keep shooting Motherbrain's head with your new beam; it hurts her a heck of a lot more now. After a lot of hits, Motherbrain's body will explode and fall to the ground. She is finally dead. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------\ ======================= VI. Equipment Upgrades ======================= In this section, I will list all of Samus's suit upgrades in the game, along with information about them and such. Take note that I will not list how to get the upgrades, except where they are found. You can find all of that information in the walkthrough. ----- Beams ----- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Power Beam Found: N/A Description: The Power Beam is your primary weapon that you start with. It's really weak, but you will get another beam later on to make it more powerful. Cannot be unequipped. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Charge Beam Found: Brinstar Description: With this, you can hold X to charge up your beam. It hurts three times more than a normal shot. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ice Beam Found: Norfair Description: This beam increases the total damage dealt by 50%. It also freezes the enemy before you kill them, so you'll have to fire an extra shot to finish them off. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spazer Beam Found: Brinstar Description: This one is a wide beam that hits a lot of enemies that are nearby. It's not the most useful thing in the world, as the nature of the beam can get in the way of fighting certain bosses. It's not all that bad, though. It's two times stronger than the normal Power Beam. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wave Beam Found: Norfair Description: With this beam, you can shoot through solid objects! That's right, you can even shoot through platforms and such. It shoots through just about anything, meaning you can open up certain shutters from the opposite side. It also increases the total damage you deal by 100%, making it all the more useful. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Plasma Beam Found: Maridia Description: You won't find this until after you defeat Draygon. It cannot be equipped with the Spazer Beam due to certain reasons, so the Spazer Beam is forced to be unequipped when you have this equipped unless you exploit a glitch. However, the total damage you deal is increased by 200% when you equip this! It pierces through enemies. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- Suits ----- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Power Suit Found: N/A Description: You start the game with this equipped, and it cannot ever be unequipped. It's yellow, and it's your primary suit. It's pretty weak in defense, so the Varia Suit and Gravity Suit are better in a lot of ways. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Varia Suit Found: Brinstar Description: After you defeat Kraid, you'll find this. It reduces the damage you take by 50%, and it also makes you completely immune to heated areas. This gives Samus an orange look, and in my opinion, she looks the best with this equipped. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gravity Suit Found: Wrecked Ship Description: This gives Samus a purple look. With this equipped, the damage you take is reduced by 75%. You can even explore underwater areas freely, and you take no damage from lava. You will still take damage from acid, however. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- Boots ----- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi-Jump Boots Found: Norfair Description: The Hi-Jump Boots are awesome. They allow you to jump MUCH higher and further than before. I don't think that they are required, but they're still pretty useful. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Speed Booster Found: Norfair Description: This is one of the most useful items in the game. With it on, you go so fast that you see afterimages of yourself. This allows you to break through Speed Booster blocks and kill certain enemies. Once you see the afterimages, if you press Down, you will charge the energy. Then, you can press A when pointing in a certain direction to do a hyperjump, which is required in order to reach certain areas. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Space Jump Found: Maridia Description: You find this after you defeat Draygon. When equipped, you can repeatedly spin jump in the air. As long as you keep spinning without coming in contact with an enemy and such, you can spin as long as you want. This is a very useful item. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- Misc. ----- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Morph Ball Found: Crateria Description: Very shortly after you escape the Ceres Station, you'll get this upgrade. The Morph Ball is extremely handy, and is probably the most used upgrade in the game. To roll into a ball, press Down on the D-Pad twice. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bombs Found: Crateria Description: This is probably the second most used upgrade in the game. While rolled into a ball, press X to lay a bomb. These can be used to blow up rocks, parts of obstruction, and can even be used against enemies. With good enough timing, you can perform a bomb jump to reach areas you couldn't reach until later. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spring Ball Found: Maridia Description: When you get this, there will be absolutely no need for bomb jumping anymore. Press A while rolled into a ball to perform a big leap into the air. This is very useful for reaching areas as a ball, but other than that, it's not too useful. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Screw Attack Found: Norfair Description: In the lower section of Norfair where Ridley's hideout is, you'll find this. It's pretty much the most useful upgrade in the game once you get it. Combined with the Space Jump, you can do the Screw Attack as much as you like. It plows through most enemies in the game, and you're invulnerable to attacks as long as you're spinning. This is pretty useful. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- =========================== VI. Carefully hop across them, then open the shutter there. Follow the path to another pack of Missiles. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Missile Pack #27 Upgrade(s) Required: N/A How To Find: Right when you get to the door that leads to the Speed Booster, shoot up at the ceiling and take the Missile pack. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Missile Pack #28 Upgrade(s) Required: Grappling Beam, Wave Beam How To Find: In the bottom-rightmost room of Norfair, you'll come to a shutter. Depending on which side you entered from, you might have to open the shutter with the Wave Beam. In that room, you'll find a pack of Missiles. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Missile Pack #29 Upgrade(s) Required: N/A How To Find: This one is pretty hard to get. It's in a secret room where all of the platforms are crumbling blocks. To get it, shoot the top-left part of the wall, jump on a platform, then immediately jump up to the pack of Missiles. This may take several tries. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Missile Pack #30 Upgrade(s) Required: N/A How To Find: After you defeat Crocomire, keep going until you come to a shaft which you can drop down. Do so, and at the bottom, go through the eastern door. Navigate through the room to a pack of Missiles. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Missile Pack #31 Upgrade(s) Required: Speed Booster How To Find: In the room before the Grappling Beam, go all the way to the right end of that room. Lay Power Bombs to blow away the objects first, then start at the wall and do a hyperspeed run. When you get to the end of the platform, store the charge and fall down. Secrets ============= In this section, I will list all of the secrets in the game, along with info about how to do them and such. Email me if you know of any more secrets. Full credit will be given. Secret #1 - Getting the Best Ending ----------------------------------- If you beat the game in under three hours (percentage doesn't matter), you will see Samus without her suit on at the end of the game. Secret #2 - Getting the Second Best Ending ------------------------------------------ If you beat the game over three hours but under ten hours, you'll see Samus without her helmet at the end of the game. Secret #3 - Getting the Worst Ending ------------------------------------ If you beat the game over ten hours, you'll get the worst possible ending. I'm not exactly sure what happens in the ending, though, because I've never gotten it. Email me if you know. Secret #4 - The Crystal Flash Technique --------------------------------------- Using this technique, you can refill your Energy Tanks! However, it costs you some ammo. To do it, your energy must be at 49 or less. Make sure you have 10 or more Missiles and Super Missiles. You must also have 11 or more Power Bombs. Now, select the Power Bombs, then hold L and R, press X, and Down twice. If you did it all right, you'll absorb the blast from the Power Bomb and regain your energy! This is a neat trick. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================================= XIII. Frequently Asked Questions ================================= In this section, I will list the most commonly asked questions regarding this game. Before emailing me with a question, please refer to this very section first, and see if your question is already answered! Thank you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q: How can I explore Norfair? A: You need the Varia Suit, which allows you to explore heated areas. See the Walkthrough for information on how to obtain it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q: How can I explore Maridia? A: You need the Gravity Suit. This allows you to explore underwater areas with complete freedom of movement. See the Walkthrough for information on how to get it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q: How do I kill Draygon instantly? A: See the Bosses section. I tell you how to do it there. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q: Help! I saved my game at the end of Tourian, and now I can't go back! Why? A: It's because all of the doors before that point are locked, obviously. If you saved at the second Save Station and you want to go back, you're out of luck. Your only choice is to restart the game, sadly. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================ XIV.
