Super Famicom Wars Experience System FAQ Version 1.0 By Juigi Table of Contents 1. Introduction 2. Version Notes 3. Basics 4. EXP values 5. Notes 6. Credits ======================================== 1. Introduction ======================================== Hello. In case you don't go to the GameFAQ Boards and haven't seen my contributor info or Fire Emblem FAQs, I am Juigi, elder half of the Kario Brothers, who are ripoffs of the Mario Brothers (from the Mario series). My email address is juigikario@yahoo.com . But enough of that. Super Famicom Wars is the only Super Famicom installment of the Wars series. There have been 9 installments for the Wars series: Famicom Wars (the very first one, for the NES/Famicom), Super Famicom Wars (for the SNES/SFC), Game Boy Wars 1 through 3, Game Boy Wars Turbo (which is the actual 2nd or 3rd GB(C) installment), Advance Wars 1 & 2, and DS Wars (which actually isn't out yet as this FAQ has been written). Of course, most of the Wars series has gone even more unnoticed to most Americans than Fire Emblem, especially the GBW installments, which had various differences from the more normal half of the Wars series. The Experience System FAQ is being written for SFW's Experience system, one of the more popular things that was cut out of the two AW games. It's the first known source of stats about SFW's Experience System on the entire internet. (Yes, I even searched with google.co.jp (using JWPCe for typing), to no avail.) Oh yeah, about me: *RN: Not publically disclosed *A/S/L: 18 as of July 9/M/San Pablo (SF Bay Area), CA *How to contact me: -Email: juigikario@yahoo.com -AOL: Juigi Kario -YIM: Not disclosed -MSN: figaro_brothers@hotmail.com -ICQ: Not used *Major GameFAQ contributions: Fire Emblem 1 FAQs (3-part Walkthrough, Basic and Mechanics FAQ, Character FAQ, Class FAQ, Item/Weapon FAQ, Shop/Arena FAQ, and Talis Quest Walkthrough) and the FE Series FAQ And by the way, DO NOT SEND THE FOLLOWING TO MY EMAIL ADDY OR IM ME WITH THE FOLLOWING: *Anything over half a Megabyte without me approving of it first. My box is already using almost half of the space, and I constantly get spam too. *ANYTHING answered in my Fire Emblem Series FAQ. Effectively, this means asking anything about characters being defeated, Marth and Roy, and Marcus (who is a JEIGAN) is grounds for getting blocked IMMEDIATELY with NO chance of being an exception, not even if the email was a joke email. (Effective as of first release for Fire Emblem 7 Weapons/Items FAQ.) *Flames. They will not be tolerated. You will instead get counterflamed AND blocked. *Criticism unless it is good enough. It won't be tolerated either, but you'll just be blocked. *Spam. I get enough of it already. You'll be counterspammed, flamed, AND blocked all at once, and if you think of blocking me first, I'll report you to your email service if you do this. *Prejudice. Yes, I am listing this and I'm sick of it to no end. Long story. If you decide to be prejudiced, you'll be reported. *Any information I find/know to be false. You will be malleted as a warning, and if you continue, you'll be blocked as well. *Any unreasonable attempts to be funny. This includes but is not limited to "I can't get in the FAQ. Get in it for me, Juigi", "I have a suggestion: EVERYBODY dies", and such. None of that is funny, and instead, you will be blocked on the spot if you even try. ======================================== 2. Version Notes ======================================== *Version 1.0 (1/3/2005) - FAQ's creation. (Technically, the FAQ was created on January 2 instead, but it should be up the day after.) FAQ is also completed. ======================================== 3. Basics ======================================== So you're probably wondering what an Experience System is doing in a prequel to Advance Wars if you're reading this section. Actually, it's an internal Experience System. This means that experience doesn't carry over the battles. Then again, units that survive don't even carry over battles (except in GBW3's Campaign mode). Regardless, the Experience System can be turned off if you don't want to play using it. But only on a new file. (This applies for Fog of War and Property Capture, BTW.) After choosing between 2P, New 2P, and 4P, there should be a window that won't have a CO's face. (If you are on 4P, this window appears after choosing the alliances.) The middle option on the left side (your left) is "REBERU APPU" (that's the Katakana turned into Romanji; rough translation is "Level Up") so choose that. If it is an O instead of an X, the Experience System will be on. Now the rest of the FAQ will assume you turned on the Experience System. (The whole point of the FAQ is about the Experience System.) After deploying a unit, a whole row of 20 Stars will appear between the row with HP, Movement, Fuel, and Vision; and the one with the attack color keys. Each Star is worth 4% of the total experience needed for getting a level up from your unit's current level. Since Level+4 is the highest possible, the row disappears when the unit reaches that. If the unit has leveled up, then there will be an insignia between the unit's portrait and the unit's weapons' names. See those dots? That's how many level ups the unit has gained. At Level+4, though, there will be a big Star instead of 4 dots. So how do you get your units to gain level ups? You have to deal damage, that's how. Don't bother to have them take damage unless necessary; that doesn't give experience. Neither does supplying or transporting. What's the benefit of leveling up? Each level up increases Attack by 20% of the base attack, and the 3rd and 4th level ups each increase Defense by 20% as well. ======================================== 4. Lists ======================================== *Experience Requirements: |=============================| |Level #|Experience|Star Value| |=============================| |Level+0| 0| 25 EXP| |-----------------------------| |Level+1| 500| 25 EXP| |-----------------------------| |Level+2| 1000| 50 EXP| |-----------------------------| |Level+3| 2000| 100 EXP| |-----------------------------| |Level+4| 4000|----------| |-----------------------------| *Experience values (each full HP): |==================| |Unit Name |EXP| |==================| |Infantry | 10| |------------------| |Mech | 10| |------------------| |New Model Tank| 50| |------------------| |Large Tank | 40| |------------------| |Medium Tank | 30| |------------------| |Small Tank | 20| |------------------| |Artillery | 20| |------------------| |Rockets | 40| |------------------| |Recon | 10| |------------------| |Supply Truck | 10| |------------------| |Pickup Truck | 10| |------------------| |AA Tank | 20| |------------------| |AA Artillery | 20| |------------------| |AA Missiles | 30| |------------------| |Train Gun | 50| |------------------| |Trnsprt Copter| 10| |------------------| |Battle Copter | 20| |------------------| |Fighter | 40| |------------------| |Attacker | 40| |------------------| |Bomber | 40| |------------------| |Lander | 30| |------------------| |Cruiser | 40| |------------------| |Submarine | 40| |------------------| |Battleship | 50| |------------------| ======================================== 5. Other notes ======================================== This section is for other noteworthy things about the Experience System. They aren't basic stuff that belong in the lists section. Now let's get to it. *ALL amount of EXP past what was required for the current level is rounded to the next 4% in the lit Stars amount. This means that 0 EXP will STILL have no lit Stars, but 1-24 EXP is 1 lit Star, 25-49 EXP is 2 lit Stars, 50-74 EXP is 3 lit Stars, etc. This made the Experience System hard to crack. *Yamamoto's units each have 1001 EXP. DO NOT be fooled into thinking they have 1050 EXP instead because of the lit Star his units. *The Experience Values list provides how much experience divided by 10 the unit provides when one-hit killed. So an Anti-Air Tank can quickly get to Level+1 by shredding 5 Infantry/Mechs. And even partial damage that doesn't take off any full HPs will still provide EXP equal to the attack rating of the unit for the attack times the HP reduce value divided by 10. *Leveled up units DO NOT provide additional experience when attacked. For this reason, you should avoid letting a potential threat (like enemy New Model Tanks) gain any strength unless necessary, as there will be no benefit if you do so. *Attacking transports will not give the experience for damaging any units inside them. So don't expect a full level up for your Level+0 Battleship if you have it attack a Lander that has 2 full health New Model Tanks on it. *These were the codes used to dig out all this information: 7E65DD__ - 1st blue unit EXP 7E65DE__ - 1st blue unit EXP (increments of 256) Courtesy of Kotetsu213 himself. (And make sure you use Hexadecimal when using the codes.) ======================================== 6. Credits ======================================== Give a REALLY big hand to Kotetsu213 for finding the various things involving the Experience System. Without him, this FAQ wouldn't really even be close to possible. This is copyright 2004 Juigi and any of the sources. If I find out you've been copying or selling this without permission or doing any other illegal stuff involving this, you're gone!
