Hello and welcome to my STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 2 guide for SNES. Well, judging by how much info I have put into this guide, it's practically done. If I do need to add anything at all, it would be the combos and maybe just a few more misc. notes for the characters and so on. Unless I get more info about this game, this guide is about as done as you can get. Keep in mind of course that this does NOT mean I will ignore your E-mails, if you do have info that is worth adding, I'll make an update and give you the credit for doing so. Thanks to all who have helped in making this guide and to all the fans out there who still support the SNES and the games. Way to go. Well, without further waiting, lets get to the guide. Have fun. SOLUTION GUIDE TO STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 2 ======================================== SUPER NES VERSION ================= WRITTEN BY COOPERTEAM ===================== VERSION 3.4 =========== JUL. 28, 1999 ============= CREDITS ======= I personally want to thank a J. Evans, whom I have been in recent contact with about this game, because he has provided me with a lot of info about the PSX, SNES, SATURN, and ARCADE info that I did not know about. Plus, he has also helped me confirm a lot of my moves list as well as provided me with some other moves that are not mentioned to you in the manual of the SNES game. Thanks for all your help and hope to do another update with all the info the fans and readers need to know about the SNES version of STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 2 as I try to finish this guide. Thanks J. Evans, and hope to talk more with you real soon. E Struiks helped me confirm some moves that I did not know and did not pay attention to when I first did this guide. Thanks for your help, and will try to finish those problems you mentioned soon. R Stewart helped me confirm one of AKUMA's moves and has provided me with a little more info about some other moves of his. Thanks and hope to hear from you soon. (P.S. AKUMA is the man to be) Here is a guy who diserves a lot of credit. Jason has sent me the info on DAN, GEN, and on a lot of other characters in this game. He provided me with some info about DAN which will be mentioned in the FAQ section. There is also other info that will be mentioned in the FAQ section as well. Major thanks Jason. This bar can only be filled in 5 ways... 1.) Doing a special move 2.) Connecting a punch or kick 3.) Getting hit 4.) Blocking a move 5.) TAUNT Each time you did one of the above, it fills your SUPER BAR up a little. Once it reaches a level like LEVEL 1, you can perform a SUPER MOVE. You can have a maximum of a LEVEL 3 and no higher. If you wanted to perform a LEVEL 1 SUPER MOVE, first you have to have a SUPER BAR that showed you have at least a LEVEL 1 SUPER BAR (GREEN), then all you would have to do is do the required move, and then press 1 of the appropriate buttons... (E.G. SAGAT's TIGER CANNON LEVEL 1 is = D, DF, F, D, DF, F + FP) Any punch or kick (that is mentioned to use, not just ANY BUTTON) can be used when you do this, not just pressing RK or FP, but please make sure you press the appropriate button when you do try to perform this move. If you wanted to perform a LEVEL 2 SUPER MOVE, that is a different story. To do such a move would mean you would have to wait until your SUPER BAR showed you have a LEVEL 2 SUPER BAR (YELLOW), then perform the required move, then press 2 of the appropriate buttons... (E.G. SAGAT's TIGER CANNON LEVEL 2 is = D, DF, F, D, DF, F + SP + FP) Notice this time you have to use 2 punch buttons, not 1. This makes for a better connection and more powerful moves. Any punch or kick (that is mentioned to use, not just ANY BUTTON) can be used when you do this, not just pressing SP + FP or FK + RK, but please make sure you press the appropriate button when you do try to perform this move. If you wanted to perform a LEVEL 3 SUPER MOVE, again, different story. To do such a move would mean you would have to wait until your SUPER BAR showed you have a LEVEL 3 SUPER BAR (YELLOW & RED), then perform the required move, then press all 3 of the appropriate buttons... (E.G. SAGAT's TIGER CANNON LEVEL 3 is = D, DF, F, D, DF, F + JP + SP + FP) As you can see, it's not that hard to understand how to do a SUPER MOVE using the SUPER BAR once you know and understand when and how to use it properly. One more thing to mention about SUPER MOVES, the higher the level of power you use, the more hits or more damage your opponent will take. But remember one thing, if you try to perform a LEVEL 3 SUPER MOVE, and you miss or the opponent blocks the move, then you would have waisted all your power. Please remember that when you execute a SUPER MOVE, it will use what ever amount of level power you used and you would then have to build it back up. Plus, as shown in the examples, the level used depends upon how much of a SUPER BAR you have and how many buttons of PUNCH or KICK you used. The more PUNCH or KICK buttons you use, the higher the level you will activate. ALPHA COUNTERS ============== ALPHA COUNTERS are basically counter moves versus regular, special, or super moves. ALPHA COUNTERS will take out anyone who is performing any move on you and will do some considerable amount of damage. Make sure, of course, that you are close enough to do the move or you will waiste the move. Reason being, ALPHA COUNTERS use up 1 level of your SUPER BAR, so make sure you have at least a LEVEL 1 SUPER BAR before performing an ALPHA COUNTER. To perform an APHAL COUNTER, it doesn't matter who you are playing, wit until you have blocked a move, then as soon as you have blocked a move, do one of the moves mentioned... B, DB, D + #P B, DB, D + #K Either move will counter any of the opponents moves and you will damage them for doing so. Most of the time, it's best to be done when the opponent is close to you. KNOCK DOWN COUNTERS =================== Yes, there is a way for you to counter being knocked down from an attack and before you take damage to the knockdown. Keep in mind that this only works when you are HIT with a move like an uppercut that knocks you to the ground, not slammed, suplexed, or piledrived. After you are knocked down, and before you land, press one of the following moves to counter the attack... B, DB, D + #P B, DB, D + #K For some, they will roll out of the knock down as soon as they land. For others, they will counter the move and retaliate with a wierd attack. This is great for surprise attacks. THROW COUNTERS ============== If you are about to be thrown from an opponent, here is a way to land after you are thrown. While you are being thrown in the air, press F + FP at the same time and you will actually land back on your feet. Keep in mind of course that is ONLY works when you're being THROWN, SLAMMED, or PUMMELED. Yes, it will counter all these forms of throws. AIR BLOCKING ============ If your in the air, you can still block attacks. While your in the air, and you're being attacked, press BACK or AWAY on the controller to BLOCK any type of attack. BUGS IN THE GAME ================ This is just a list of bugs that I have found while playing this game... 1.) Super Uppercut moves do not make you immune to fireballs 2.) Sometimes the trick to fight Shin Akuma doesn't always work 3.) Sometimes the game will change difficulty regardless of what it's set on HOW TO PLAY THE CLASSIC CHUN-LI FOR SNES ======================================== If you would like to play as the classic CHUN-LI from the STREET FIGHTER II game, all you have to do is, at the chatacter select screen, highlight CHUN-LI and then hold the START button, then without releasing the START button, press any action button to give her a color of your choice. Her original outfit from STREET FIGHTER II will be showing instead of her newer one. At least 1 move is different from the ALPHA series, but her moves will be mentioned in this strategy guide. Hope this helps. HOW TO PLAY IN A SECRET GRASSY FIELD FROM THE INTRO FOR SNES ============================================================ This trick only works in VERSUS mode. When you are in this mode, choose the characters you want to be. After that, have the first player highlight SAGAT's stage as the fighting place. When you have the stage highlighted, hold the START button, then without releasing the START button, press an action button and you would have gotten a GRASSY FIELD stage from the INTRO. NO, THERE IS NO TRICK TO PLAY IN THE SECRET WATERFALL STAGE, IT DOESN'T EXIST IN THE SNES VERSION!!!! HOW TO PLAY AGAINST TRUE AKUMA ============================== After much headache and frustration, I finally figured out that the SNES version of getting Shin Akuma IS slightly different from the arcade, PSX, and SATURN. This is an actual confirmation of how to get Shin Akuma, SO FAR. I am still in the testing stages of seeinf the info is right... 1.) You can set the games difficulty to ANY level 2.) You must have gotten ONLY 3 PERFECT rounds, more perfects will not work 3.) You must NOT have used a continue while doing all this 4.) You must reach the last stage with your character 5.) You must have not lost a single round during any match When you reach the last stage, and you have done the above list correctly, the game will interrupt you and say "HERE COMES A NEW CHALLENGER". It will be SHIN AKUMA. CAUTION:It does not matter what difficulty you set the game on, he will be fighting you as if you set the game to the hardest setting. He is tough, quick, and he some how is able to counter attack you regardless of what moves he did. He has the fastest reaction time of ANY character in the game. All I can say is good luck trying to even hit him, or even beating him, you'll need it. NO, THERE IS NO TRICK TO PLAY AS SHIN AKUMA, IF YOU WANT TO PLAY AS SHIN AKUMA, GO BUY A PLAYSTATION OR SATURN SYSTEM AND LOOK FOR THIS GAME, THAT'S THE ONLY SOLUTION I CAN OFFER!!!! NO, THERE IS NO TRICK TO PLAY AS EVIL RYU IN THE SNES VERSION, GO BUY A PLAYSTATION OR SATURN AND FIND HIM THERE!!!! HOW TO FIGHT A SECRET MID LEVEL CHARACTER ========================================= This trick allows you to fight a mid level character during the game. Most of these characters are rivals of the person you play as. An example is if you did the trick correctly while playing SAGAT, your mid level opponent would be ADON. Here's is what you do... 1.) Do 5 Super Finishing moves 2.) Do it right, on the next stage you will see "HERE COMES A NEW CHALLENGER" By doing this, it just adds more of a challenge to the game. Nothing really special by doing this, but just for a challenge. CHOOSE YOUR OWN WINNING POSE ============================ Yes, you can, in fact, control your own pose when you win a match. When you have won a match, and the game shows your point total, hold the following... SELECT + #P or SELECT + #K Keep holding the buttons down until the pose is shown. Now you can taunt your opponents with your favorite winning pose. One thing to keep in mind is that a lot characters do not have 6 poses, but 1 or 2 of them will, so don't feel bad if a character is only doing 2-5 different poses when they win. THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF TAUNTING ============================================ Yes, in this game, you can taunt your opponent just for fun. You can also taunt your friends if you're in versus play. I must warn you that taunting does leave you open for an attack once the move is performed. Although a danger, there is a good side to this. When you taunt, you can increase your SUPER BAR by doing so. One other thing to point out, most of the characters can only taunt once PER ROUND, and that's it. The only person who can taunt an unlimited amount of times is DAN. Now, if you want to taunt someone, all you have to do is press the SELECT button anytime during combat. Each character has their own unique taunt that they do. CUSTOM COMBOS ============= Custom combos is a new feature to the STREET FIGHTER ALPHA series that is reall cool if you know how to use it. A Custom Combo is more of a super move that allows you to use a button combination to do more hits on the opponent. Here's how it works... 1.) Just fill your SUPER bar 2.) When you think the time is right, press 2P + #K or 2K + #P 3.) Now, get close and press any attack buttons Basically, this allows you do some really cool combos to the opponent, regardless of the buttons you press. CAUTION:Once you do the move, you will use ALL of the SUPER bar and you can't choose how much of the SUPER bar you can use. Once activated, you better hope that you can hit the opponent, and there is no turning back. COLOR OUTFITS ============= After much stress and headaches from trying to figure this out, I finally learned that the colors are NOT determined by the type of punch or kick buttons you press, they are actually determined by the type of buttons itself. Let me explain. Here is more of an example of what I mean... Press Y, X, or L for color 1 Press B, A, or R for color 2 Press Y + X for color 3 Press B + A for color 4 After doing much testing, it doesn't matter how you would set up your buttons to use what ever punch or kick buttons you use. It's determined by the button setup itself. Notice how I said Y or A for an outfit color and not PUNCH or KICK? That's how the trick works. As much as I hate to say it, this IS how the color outfit trick works regardless of what the manual or other guides say. I should know, I have the SNES version and have tested this out myself lots of times. What, don't believe me, try pressing Y + B buttons, or X + A buttons and see what happens. You will see that I am right. I even tried to set it up so that Y, X, and A buttons were all punches. Reason being was so I could use the third colored outfit, but what I got was the same outcome of the Y + X combination. Oh well, goes to show that nothing is simple or perfect anymore. EXPLAINATION AND INFO ON HOW TO DO 2 IN 1'S =========================================== Before I get to the explaination of such a great and useful technique, I would like to point out that this type of attack cannot be mastered or even learned over night, it takes timing and skill to even use this technique with great effectiveness. It may sound simple at first, but learning when and how to do it will take tons of practice just to even get the idea behind a 2 in 1. Now, lets get to the explaination. First, lets test a theory or 2. Lets just say you are playing as Ryu. Press a punch button. As you see, Ryu throws a punch. Now, hold a punch button. Notice again that Ryu throws a punch. Now, while still holding that punch button down, do his fireball motion and then release the punch button like this... (#P), D, DF, F and release the same punch button If you did it right, Ryu should have thrown a fireball. Notice what you did to make this fireball appear. You held a punch button, then released the same button to throw the fireball. Now, lets test another theory. While still playing as Ryu, press and hold the FIERCE PUNCH button, then do the move for a fireball as I just describe as quickly as possible. If you did it right, you should notice that you threw a punch, and then threw a fireball, almost simultaniously. Hmmm, do you see the trick here? This is how a 2 in 1 works. It's like doing 2 moves in 1 for double the damage. Now that you might have the idea, try doing the punch and fireball move faster than before and keep practicing. Once you have the idea as well as the move, you can learn to master doing 4-6 hit combos with little effort. This is how a lot of people are able to do those impossible to do hits you hear form web sites, moves, guides, and other related info sources. I will warn you that doing this type of technique is not always simple. Pro players who have learned form the first game know that this is the only way you can win if you plan to fight close range. This is also the best way to go if you plan to play suicidal. Anyway, you should now have an understanding on how the 2 in 1 works. Have fun, and play hard. ADON ==== STORY ===== Drawing from the speed and cunning of the majestic jaguar, Adon's style has been known to mesmerize victims. A master of Muay Thai, Adon trained with Sagat, but when the latter was defeated by Ryu, Adon believed Sagat to be a disgrace. Adon now seeks Sagat to become the Muay Thai leader once and for all. PLAY TACTICS ============ As Adon, try to keep close to your opponent and on the offensive. Play smart and keep the opponent guessing. He's also great in the air, but watch out for uppercuts. If your caught in a fireball attack, use the surprise of the JAGUAR TOOTH. TAUNT ===== Holds his hand out and does a thumbs down FIGHTER'S QUOTES ================ "Is that the best you can do?" "I am a Muay Thai master, you are sucking gravel." "Don't worry, it's all over." "My legend starts now." WINNING POSES ============= 1.) Folds his arms and laughs at opponent 2.) Holds his hand out and does a thumbs down at opponent and laughs ENDING ====== After his battle with Sagat, Adon warns him that his fighting style is nothing compared to Adon's and mocks Sagat for when he lost against Ryu in the first battle. Then during a match, he gets a warning from a guy who says there was someone watching with red hair... JAGUAR KICK = D, DF, F + #K RISING JAGUAR = F, D, DF + #K JAGUAR TOOTH = F, DF, D, DB, B + #K CROUCH COUNTER = F + SP SURPRISE KICK = DF + FK SUPER ATTACKS [Must have at least a LEVEL 1 super bar] ====================================================== JAGUAR REVOLVER = [Stand at jump distance] D, DF, F, D, DF, F + ?K JAGUAR BALEED = [Stand close] D, DF, F, D, DF, F + ?P, #P or #K AKUMA ===== STORY ===== He believed his ancestors to be fools for stealing the RAGING DEMON. So what if the technique could kill the person who executed it? Akuma will do every- thing he can to win. By releasing the RAGING DEMON, he sealed his evil destiny and destroyed his own master. PLAY TACTICS ============ If you know how to play as Ken or Ryu, then the tactics will work just the same with Akuma. The only added bonus is that Akuma can teleport out of harm's way as well as take care of fireballs while he is in the air. Akuma is probably the most dangerous character in the game, especially when you use his deadly RAGING DEMON on your opponent. Even against him, he is a formidable opponent. TAUNT ===== Stomps the ground then goes into a stance FIGHTER'S QUOTES ================ "You are not enough even for a warm up." "This is boring!" "Weaklings! Is there no one worth fighting?" "Now stay down." WINNING POSES ============= 1.) Stomps the ground then goes into his frenzy stance 2.) Turns his back, says "YOSH" and a symbol appears on his back 3.) Same as above, but doesn't say anything 4.) Goes into a stance and his body is surrounded by a strange flame ENDING ====== After his battle, he reflects on his opponents he faught against. He then realizes that this world is not as weak as he thought it was. He now realizes that he will be next to die. He yearns for a part of the action. Using his strength and style to avoid the law, Birdie knows he must fight his way into the infamous crime organization. PLAY TACTICS ============ As Birdie, play concervative. It's not only easy to see him attacking, but he lags after attacks. He's also a big target so watch your attacks and time your moves right, or you will go down fast. TAUNT ===== Pulls out his switchblade comb and flashes it at opponent FIGHTER'S QUOTES ================ "It's good to be back." "Show some respect and maybe you'll keep breathing." "Still the best!" "What made you think you could beat me?" WINNING POSES ============= 1.) Licks his chains and says "I'm number one!" 2.) PLAY TACTICS ============ Play more defensive than offensive. Charlie is a good fighter, but sometimes can lag long enough for an open shot. The SONIC BOOM attacks are good, but watch how you use the FLASH KICK. For those of you who know him, please also remember that he is GUILE in every aspect. TAUNT ===== Takes out his glasses and shines them FIGHTER'S QUOTES ================ "You've got talent, Uncle Sam could use you." "Be all that I almost broke a sweat." Sure, she may not be strong with her attacks, but her speed more than makes up for the other traits she doesn't have. Try to use surprise attacks and always change your tactics around to confuse your opponent. TAUNT ===== Smiles and then waves at her opponent FIGHTER'S QUOTES ================ "If you're going to fight, fight for real." "I don't have time for amateurs!" TAUNT ===== Smiles and then waves at her opponent FIGHTER'S QUOTES ================ "If you're going to fight, fight for real." "I don't have time for amateurs!" Dan has trained vigorously to avenge his father's death. Filled with incredible power, he unloads his most potent attack on those who stand in his way. He will have his revenge. PLAY TACTICS ============ As Dan, although you can defend yourself from projectiles fairly well, it's best not to get into a fireball fight. Your only advantage is your long range TRIPLE HIT KICK and when in close proximity, uppercut your opponent and stay on them. It's best to get in close and hope you can hit with your fireball. Try to change your attacks around to keep the enemy fooled, or you will be the fool who goes down fast. And one more thing, those taunts he can do will get you nowhere, even the SUPER TAUNT is useless. Just so you know, he can taunt while is crouching or while he is jumping. TAUNT ===== 1.) Holds up his fist and shakes it at opponent 2.) Down on one knee, holds up his fist and shakes it at opponent 3.) While in the air, jumps up and holds fist up high and shouts FIGHTER'S QUOTES ================ "For a loser, you did pretty well." "My dad could beat you, and he's dead!" "Don't even try to get up!" "Keep your day job." WINNING POSES ============= 1.) Does a thumbs up and smiles 2.) Shakes his fist in the air, screams something while crying 3.) Holds up his fist and shakes it at opponent ENDING ====== After beating Sagat for killing Dan's father, he finally gets his glory and honor restored in himself and pray's to his father that he got his revenge. He has sought to unify his mind, body, and soul through the discipline of Yoga. As he nears his goal, Dhalsim must test himself and his skills before he can rise to a higher state of consciousness. PLAY TACTICS ============ As Dhalsim, unlike his STREET FIGHTER copy, he is a little faster and doesn't lag as much as he used to. Use this to your advantage as best as possible. Plus, his teleport is a lot faster now and he lags very little when he does a special move. Remember, you still have the reach advantage if your opponent starts to slip away from you. Although, do be careful when you jump, your jump speed is still a little on the slow side. TAUNT ===== Holds hands together like he is praying FIGHTER'S QUOTES ================ "I'm your master. KEN === STORY ===== A disciple of the Shotokan school of karate and past training partner of Ryu, Ken has an amazing fighting spirit, but an even larger ego. Convinced he is the best fighter, Ken seeks a confrontation with his long-time rival. PLAY TACTICS ============ As Ken, his tactics haven't changed since the STREET FIGHTER II series. Even though he is a bit faster, so to speak, and his flaming dragon punch is still his best weapon against air attacks. He has gained a lot of new moves to add to his old list, which makes him an even greater threat than before to any opponent. One of which you could use to your advantage is the roll. This roll move is ment for surprise attacks on those who least expect it. One of the best moves to use is the roll/dragon punch surprise for you tricksters, the other is for when you want to get a little more clever with your moves like the roll/fireball surprise then jump in with a SUPER move for even more deadly attacks on your opponent. One other thing to remember about what makes Ken different from Ryu is Ken as the speed. TAUNT ===== Runs fingers through his hair then gives a thumbs up FIGHTER'S QUOTES ================ "Next time I won't be so easy on you!" "You're better than you look. Try harder." He's actually lost some of his speed from the STREET FIGHTER II series. Sure, he may be buffed up, but that also means he's a bigger target to hit. Some of his moves are okay, but it's best to play conservative with this character. Definitely use his teleport ability to your advantage. PLAY TACTICS ============ As Rolento, use your punches more than kicks. He's a little on the slow side, but has a lot of strength to back him up. His staff attacks are great at long range and his special moves are more than a match for any fighter. Think of this character as Vega in STREET FIGHTER II. He also has some air moves as well so use that to your advantage to. And since he has a wide list of moves, change your attacks around, once you have gotten to know this character, it's easy to confuse the opponent, if you know how. Now Ryu must stand tall against revitalized rivals. PLAY TACTICS ============ As Ryu, his tactics have not really changed since STREET FIGHTER II. His powerful three in one DRAGON PUNCH is still damaging as ever. One thing that I will point out, when you do use his FP FIREBALL, if you are very close to your opponent and it connects, it will burn the opponent and do a little more damage than a normal FIREBALL. Just so you know, just because he has a fake out move, does not make him a better fighter, that move is more of a give away than a helper. If your good, you might be able to fool some people, but if your opponent is good, then the move will be useless. TAUNT ===== Adjusts his bandana FIGHTER'S QUOTES ================ "What's wrong? PLAY TACTICS ============ As Sagat, I am really surprised at his newer abilities since STREET FIGHTER II and beyond. He has really gained some speed and is a little more deadly than before. Sure, he may be a little bit bigger, but his speed will more than make up for his size. One thing is for sure, his new TIGER UPPERCUT is a real terror. Anyone caught in the move will suffer some serious damage. Plus, his old high/low TIGER SHOT still works as a great tactic in this game as well. And, just like before, switch around to confuse the opponent. TAUNT ===== Holds his chin with his hand and smiles at opponent FIGHTER'S QUOTES ================ "It will take more than you to best me." "Do not challenge what you cannot defeat!" Most high school girls don't walk down the street looking to pick a fight, but ever since her run-in with three college men, she has sought to take her revenge. PLAY TACTICS ============ As Sakura, she is a really great character to play. Her fighting style is about the same as Ryu's or Ken's abilities, with an added twist to her scary MULTI-HIT UPPERCUT. When you play as this character, use the same tactics you would use as if you were Ken or Ryu. Although she does have a HURRICANE KICK, it's not quite the same as Ken's or Ryu's. Definitely use the FIREBALL and uppercut move to your advantage. Plus, since she is a quick character, this will be a helping factor to. TAUNT ===== Points at opponent and giggles FIGHTER'S QUOTES ================ "Now you know, justice always prevails!" "Wow, that was cool, do it again!" PLAY TACTICS ============ As Zangief, unless you have played as this character, you are in trouble if you decide to play this character. For those of you who know how to play as this character, then he is a character to be mastered for sure. He still has all his old moves like the SPINNING PILEDRIVER and his SPINNING CLOTHESLINE, but he has gained a new move called the FLYING POWER BOMB, which will do some major damage that will send shivers down your spine. He also has his BANISHING PUNCH that will adsorb fireballs and will hit for some damage as well. Plus, if you can time it just right, you can still surprise your opponents with his ATOMIC BUSTER move. Still, you should play him conservatively and do watch out for those who still know Zangief's weaknesses. One more thing to note, his ARIAL RUSSIAN SLAM is ment for people who like to jump a lot, use it at the right time to surprise your opponents with a move that will take out jumpers. Well, here is a short summary of how or what the story is. First, a time line... STREET FIGHTER [A.K.A. FIGHTING STREETS in Japan] ================================================= This game came out around 1986 or so. This is what started it all. This is where SAGAT, BIRDIE, GEN, ADON, and most importantly, KEN and RYU started out and made the story possible. Although the graphics were rather yucky and the characters were ugly to look at, the game wasn't that bad. The only thing about this game was that you could only play as either KEN or RYU, and that was it. Basically, RYU was the red headed one (Why they changed the hair now, I don't know), and KEN was the blonde headed one. Both had the same moves as when they had it in STREET FIGHTER II. They had the FIREBALL, HURRICANE KICK, and the ever popular DRAGON PUNCH you could perform in the game. FINAL FIGHT =========== I know what your thinking, how does a fighter style of this game compare to ONE-ON-ONE fighting style of STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 2? Well, the character named GUY is in BOTH games, as well as SODOM/KATANA and ROLENTO. As you know, in FINAL FIGHT, GUY was part of the good guys fighting off a dreaded gang known as THE MAD GEAR GANG. Well, if you choose a character besides GUY, and you get to GUY's stage, you will notice some similarities like some of the bosses from FINAL FIGHT. So this is why I mentioned this. For those of you who know about this game, take note of his WHIRLWIND KICK special move he does in this game, and in FINAL FIGHT. Word of caution, GUY was not put into the American SNES version of FINAL FIGHT, you had to get either the Japanese SNES version of it, or you had to have the SEGA CD version to know about this character. Same also goes for ROLENTO, you could not fight him at all in the SNES version, only in the arcades and in the SEGA CD version as well. STREET FIGHTER II ================= Okay, now we are getting somewhere. This was the next installment of the STREET FIGHTER series. This time, you could play as 8 characters. 2 of which you were already familar with, KEN and RYU. You could also fight against the well known SAGAT as one of the bosses for this game. This game had 4 bosses you had to fight in order to win the game. There is another reason why ALPHA is a part of this series. If you played as GUILE and beat the game, notice that he was after M. BISON becasue BISON killed GUILE's friend named CHARLIE. Hmmm, there's a character in STREET FIGHTER ALPHA named CHARLIE, what a coincidence, YEAH RIGHT. Anyways, this is another reason why they wanted to make STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 2. Of course we wouldn't want to forget that you can also play as ZANGIEF, DHALSIM, and CHUN-LI as well. STREET FIGHTER 2010 =================== This game came out for the NES system. Although nothing to do with the story, the star of this game was KEN. So I just thought I would add this anyways. STREET FIGHTER II CHAMPION EDITION ================================== This is what really started the real craze about this game. Now, you could play as BALROG, VEGA, SAGAT, and the ever so deadly M.BISON. Not only that, this was the first fighter game where you could play against yourself. Yes, it was very possible to fight against a mirror image of yourself in this game. STREET FIGHTER II TURBO EDITION =============================== Okay, now this is where they started to get repetitive about their games. Now, in this game, a lot of characters have more or modified moves to add to their list. A list of new moves from the CHAMPION EDITION are as follows... BLANKA = VERTICAL BODY ATTACK BALROG = MORE POWERFUL SPIN PUNCH CHUN-LI = FIREBALL DHALSIM = TELEPORT E.HONDA = BODY SLAM ATTACK GUILE = 2-HIT FLASH KICK KEN = MID-AIR HURRICANE KICK / 3-HIT DRAGON PUNCH M.BISON = FASTER CHARGED FLAMING TORPEDO (PSYCHO CRUSHER) RYU = MID-AIR HURRICANE KICK / 3-HIT DRAGON PUNCH SAGAT = LESS LAG TIME WHEN DOING FIREBALL / 2-HIT UPPERCUT VEGA = MULTI-HIT ROLLING CLAW ZANGIEF = FASTER SPINNING CLOTHESLINE / IMMUNE TO FIREBALLS WHEN DOING THIS Plus, because it was TURBO EDITION, the gameplay was faster now. This was to test and see if players really could learn how to play this game, but with more speed and reaction time needed to react to the opponent. SUPER STREET FIGHTER II ======================= Just when you thought the STREET FIGHTER II craze was about to go, CAPCOM then goes to make yet ANOTHER installment to this game. This time, they added 4 new characters to the list, CAMMY, DEJAY, FI-LONG, and T. HAWK. It was about this time that everyone was getting fed up with the STREET FIGHTER II series because in reality, this would be going too far with a game. Plus, some of the old characters got 1 new move added to their list of moves they already had. Others got modified moves like BLANKA's VERTICAL ROLL could now kick out and land away from harm if the move was blocked. Although a nice game to have, it's not something you want to play over and over again. I mean, I like the idea of having 16 characters to choose from, but since most people already mastered the first 3 versions of this game, what was the real point. One more thing, it was this game that inspired the COMBO COUNTER. A counter that counted up any combos you did on the opponent. SUPER STREET FIGHTER II TURBO ============================= As you can see, CAPCOM didn't even stop yet, they just had to come out with one more STREET FIGHTER II game just to see what people would think. Well, by now, everyone had mastered this game and was "BEEN THERE, DONE THAT..." type of situation. If you didn't even play any of the STREET FIGHTER II series games, then you didn't understand. The only thing that made this one so different from the rest was, by this time, EVERYONE could counter a special move, including fireball attacks. Not only that, but this is also what inspired the SUPER MOVE ability. A small bar at the bottom of the screen that filled up each time you attacked or was being attacked. Then, when the bar was full, you could do a SUPER MOVE on the opponent. Plus, it was this game that inspired the new character known as AKUMA. AKUMA was a secret character in this game that could only be faught if you faught a certain amount of people, and you used the SUPER MOVE at the right time. There was also a way to play as AKUMA, but could only be played if you knew the code or trick to play him. STREET FIGHTER ALPHA ==================== FINALLY, they sorta did away with the STREET FIGHTER II series. Although you could play as KEN, RYU, CHUN-LI, and SAGAT, they also added the characters from the FIRST STREET FIGHTER game. ADON and BIRDIE were braught back from the dead to give this game a little life and vital spice to the game to let the real STREET FIGHTER history learners know about the game. Along with that, they put 2 people from the FINAL FIGHT series in this game, GUY and SODOM/KATANA. Two last characters to mention is CHARLIE and ROSE. CHARLIE is the guy who died by M.BISON and was GUILE's friend. So it was only fitting to add him to this game as well. What makes this game so interesting is, this time, you can perform anyone of the 3 LEVEL SUPER MOVE. The only other character, for which I have no clue as to why she is here, is ROSE. An interesting character. Well, what also made this game so very unique was that you could play as 1 of the 3 secret characters in the game. 2 of which were known already, M.BISON and AKUMA. The third is another character, as for why, I don't know why he is in this game. All that is known about him is that SAGAT killed his father. He's only here to avenge his fathers death, and to train students in a new martial arts skill. His name is DAN, and he sorta looks like the guy from ART OF FIGHTING name ROBERT, but his style is very unique and different among other fighters. He would be a cool character if he had a much better fireball attack. STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 2 ====================== Well, since this is what you are playing and why you got this strategy guide for in the first place, I might as well tell you some of the changes since the first STREET FIGHTER ALPHA. Well, for one thing, there are now 18 fighters to choose from. Since you know who is in the game from the above strategy guide, no point in even giving you a list of what character has been added or taken away. Although not much change in moves or fighting style, there are some very noticable changes since the first game. I will list them this time... 1.) AKUMA's air fireball has drastically lost it's angle to a point of useless 2.) ZANGIEF is not as strong or as tough as when he was in STREET FIGHTER II for some reason, I thought this guy was suppose to have STRENGTH??? 3.) Most characters have lost a lot of the custom combos that they used to have in the original. What happened to the chained combos we used to be able to do??? 4.) A lot of characters have no improvements since the first STREET FIGHTER ALPHA. Not as though that is bad, but you would think that some characters would have improved since the first. STREET FIGHTER III ================== Yes, another edition of the STREET FIGHTER series, only this time, along with some old fighters, there are some new fighters as well. Problem is now, the known bosses are gone this time. M.BISON, SAGAT, BALROG, and VEGA have totally disappeared. The boss in this game is a real match for a lot of players though and, from what I hear, is rather fast on his feet. As well as new stuff, this also means a new story. Still, nothing to really get excited about. It's yet another "BEEN THERE, DONE THAT" type of game that is seriously showing it's age and needs to either die, or get a better life. STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 3 ====================== Yes, there is a 3 to the series. In this version though, you can now play as the following NEW characters that have been added since STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 2 ... BLANKA E.HONDA BALROG VEGA CODY = [Also from the FINAL FIGHT series] Plus a couple of other surprises wait for you in this new series. Now we are talking about over 20 playable characters here, each with at least 2 special moves and 2 super moves. Something, I am sure, SNES would not be able to do since we are talking about adding more characters, more moves, and more secret surprises to be in store for us. Do I smell a STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 4??? NOW THIS IS HOW THE ORDER SHOULD REALLY GO STORY-WISE ===================================================== Well, as you know, the story is a little confusing since they sorta went back in time. This is how the order of the games should have been made if they wanted us to understand the story better... STREET FIGHTER [A.K.A. FIGHTING STREETS in Japan] FINAL FIGHT STREET FIGHTER ALPHA STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 2 STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 3 STREET FIGHTER II STREET FIGHTER II CHAMPION EDITION STREET FIGHTER II TURBO EDITION SUPER STREET FIGHTER II SUPER STREET FIGHTER II TURBO EDITION STREET FIGHTER III THE MAIN REASONS FOR THIS ORDER =============================== The few reasons why the story should be in this order is because, for one thing, GUILE's friend CHARLIE is alive in the ALPHA series, but is dead in the STREET FIGHTER II series. As I said, GUILE's ending mentioned about a guy named CHARLIE that M.BISON supposedly killed. Another thing is that CHUN-LI's ending shows that M.BISON escapes and vows to avenge her father's death. In STREET FIGHTER II, she gets her revenge and then is able to lead a normal life as the woman she wants to be. This is just but a small example as to why the games should have been made this way instead of the way they did it. It's also a good example of CAPCOM not keeping up with the trends these days. The STREET FIGHTER series is old now, and hardly anything has changed with a lot of characters. No offense CAPCOM, but you should let the series die now, it's old, nothing is new, except the way the game is played and the story. WHAT'S IN THE FUTURE FOR THE STREET FIGHTER SERIES ================================================== After seeing what characters are in STREET FIGHTER III, I guess that CAPCOM has put a halt on the main boss characters. (SAGAT, M.BISON, etc.) Personally, I kinda like SAGAT, M.BISON, VEGA, and BALROG, I just want CAPCOM to just make a new story so that they don't go BACK in time, (As in make a totally blaten name for the game like SUPER DUPER ULTRA MEGA ALPHA EXCELLENT OUTSTANDING TURBO STREET FIGHTER.) Plus, some of the ALPHA characters will be gone as well, like SAKURA, ROLENTO, GEN, ADON, and the rest. KEN and RYU should continue to be in the STREET FIGHTER series no matter what. As for what they will do with AKUMA, it's all up to CAPCOM. So far, these are the games that AKUMA has been in... SUPER STREET FIGHTER II TURBO STREET FIGHTER ALPHA STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 2 STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 3 X-MEN:CHILDREN OF THE ATOM X-MEN VS. STREET FIGHTER MARVEL SUPER HEROES VS. STREET FIGHTER STREET FIGHTER EX PLUS ALPHA (A fighting game with robots they made in JAPAN, name of game escapes me) I think he's in MARVEL VS. CAPCOM, but not sure yet Although you can't see him in some of the games mentioned, you have to know the code to play as AKUMA for these games. In other games, he's automatically selectable from the character select screen. SOME INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 2 =================================================== 1.) Filicia from DARK STALKERS can be seen in the pool in KEN's stage 2.) The guy from STRIDER can be found in KEN's stage 3.) The secret grassy field background is based upon the ANIME movie 4.) Rolento's stage has the STATUE OF LIBERTY holding a PC for an ad [SEXY] 5.) Guy's Whirlwind Kick is based on the FINAL FIGHT GUY special attack 6.) Guy's stage has most of the characters from the FINAL FIGHT game 7.) CAPTIAN COMMANDO is in KEN's stage, a NES character 8.) KEN's stage is the wedding ceremony for Ken and Eliza 9.) GUY's stage music is based on the FINAL FIGHT game 10.) KATANA's stage music is based on the FINAL FIGHT game 11.) Eliza is on KEN's stage in the pink dress, Ken's sweetheart FAQ SECTION [Frequintly Asked Questions] ======================================== 1.) WHO IS DAN AND WHERE DID HE COME FROM? ========================================== Okay, this is what "I" understand, so please do not quote me on this. From what I heard, DAN is, in fact, a joke from another game. I have, in fact, seen a picture in which there is SAGAT holding a person with a pink uniform with a ponytail that practically looks like DAN. Basically, the inside joke is, that DAN is a direct portraition of ROBERT GARCIA from the game called ART OF FIGHTING. Right after CAPCOM came out with STREET FIGHTER II, lots of other companies wanted to jump on the fighting series as well and make their own fighting games. Some of these companies practically made clones of the STREET FIGHTER II game, but with different names and characters. Although some game companies no longer make fighting games, other companies still do. After years of making fighting games, only 2 companies stand out, SNK and CAPCOM. Yes, I know that MIDWAY/WILLIAMS/ACCLAIM made the MORTAL KOMBAT series, and that NINTENDO made some fighting games, and NAMCO made 3-D style fighting games, but only in limited numbers. SNK is the company that made ART OF FIGHTING. Where's the inside joke you say? Well, if you ever see the picture of SAGAT holding DAN, you might understand, but incase you don't, the whole point is CAPCOM is better than SNK, and will continue to prove it. To prove to you that SNK is the only other competition, here is a list of fighting games that CAPCOM, SNK, MIDWAY, NINTENDO, and a few others have made and you will see why I say that SNK is the only other competition... CAPCOM ====== STREET FIGHTER (Also known as FIGHTING STREETS in Japan) STREET FIGHTER II STREET FIGHTER II CHAMPION EDITION STREET FIGHTER II TURBO EDITION SUPER STREET FIGHTER II SUPER STREET FIGHTER II TURBO EDITION STREET FIGHTER ALPHA (Also known as STREET FIGHTER ZERO in Japan) STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 2 STREET FIGHTER III STREET FIGHTER EX PLUS @ STREET FIGHTER COLLECTION STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 3 STAR GLADIATORS X-MEN CHILDREN OF THE ATOM X-MEN VS. Another way for you to test this theory is play as Ken, then do the trick to play against the mid-level boss. When you do, you will fight against Dan. During the conversation, you should read something like this... Dan = Hey, Blondie, here's a quarter. Get your own moves. Ken = Who are you? Do you know the art of fighting? Dan = Let's get ready to rumble. Ken = After you, ladies first! Notice the fraise that Ken says, ART OF FIGHTING? Notice that ART OF FIGHTING is in fact a game from SNK. Now you should see the inside joke. Remember, do not quote me on this, it's not directly from my mouth. 2.) DID STREET FIGHTER [A.K.A. FIGHTING STREETS] COME OUT FOR ANY GAME SYSTEM? ============================================================================== Yes, but it was a long time ago when they did. If you were one of the lucky one's to buy the system, it came out for the TURBO-GRAFIX 16. Plus, it did come out for the PC as well, so if you were fortunate to own that, then you at least got yourself a collectors item. 3.) WHY IS M.BISON KNOWN AS "VEGA" IN JAPAN? ============================================ Okay, this goes back to the STREET FIGHTER II series. As you know, in the STREET FIGHTER II game, the main bosses were BALROG, VEGA, SAGAT, and M.BISON, in that order that you faught them. The thing was, those were the AMERICAN names that they gave them. In Japan, these 4 characters had slightly different names. I will explain in more detail with a simple chart. This chart shows the names they were known as in both USA and JAPAN... USA JAPAN === ===== BALROG M.BISON VEGA BALROG SAGAT SAGAT M.BISON VEGA These were the names that they had in both USA and Japan. The only character that didn't change his name was SAGAT. Now, here is the reason why. Notice that in Japan, BALROG is known as M.BISON in Japan. The "M" in that name stood for MIKE. Now, what real name looks close to the character known as MIKE BISON? Hmmm, maybe it's MIKE TYSON. You know, the boxer who was disqualified from the boxing ring for eating someone's ear. Yes, this is the real reason why USA wanted to change the names around. MIKE BISON looked too much like MIKE TYSON in the game, so they switched the names around to save their American butt from being sued for taking someone's identity. As for why Japan has the name, I guess they don't have as many laws or reulations as USA does. 4.) I THOUGHT THAT AKUMA'S LEVEL 3 SUPER MOVE WAS KNOWN AS THE BISON KILLER? ============================================================================ Very perseptive of you to notice. Yes, the move known as "RAGING DEMON" was orginally known as the "BISON KILLER", but I guess, to make the story more interesting, they decided to change the name to "RAGING DEMON". For those of you who have not seen how AKUMA was found in SUPER STREET FIGHTER II TURBO, I'll recap for you. Right after they made SUPER STREET FIGHTER II, CAPCOM decided to do one more update and add a secret character called AKUMA in the game. If you knew how to get to fight AKUMA in the game, what happened was he would come out right after you defeated M.BISON, then he picks BISON up, then kills BISON with a strange flashing light, thus naming that move the "BISON KILLER". For reasons to make the story more appealing [I'm guessing], they decided to name it the "RAGING DEMON". As mentioned in his story line, AKUMA summons the power of the "RAGING DEMON" to grant him the power that he needed to kill off his victims. 5.) HOW COME YOU HAVE MOVES THAT ARE NOT IN THE MANUAL? ======================================================= Lets get one thing straight, this is a GAME. The whole point to games [As far as the producer is concerned] is to try to figure out the game on your own. Such games like RPG, FIGHTER, STRATEGY, ETC. never come with a full solution guide. You sometimes have to figure things out on your own. This is another one of these examples in which the manual fails to tell you the rest because the people who made this game want you to find out the rest of the stuff on your own. This also applies to the cheats, tricks, and codes that a lot of games have. 6.) IS THERE ANYTHING SPECIAL IF YOU BEAT THE GAME ON DIFFICULTY 8? =================================================================== Unbelievably, no, there is nothing special at all if you beat the game on the hardest difficulty. I know this sounds strange since in the other STREET FIGHTER games had a special picture or ending to see, but this is not the case for this cart. I am rather surprised about this, I mean, I actaully was expecting something when I finally beat it on the hardest difficulty. I will say that it wasn't easy, but it can be done. The only special things I have seen are the following... 1.) Beat game without using continues for credits screen 2.) Beat game with Akuma without using continues for a new credits screen 3.) Beat game with Charlie without using continues for a new credits screen Other than what's mentioned, there is nothing special to see if you beat the game on the hardest setting. 7.) HOW COME SHIN AKUMA IS SO HARD NO MATTER WHAT THE DIFFICULTY? ================================================================= Lets just say that fighting SHIN AKUMA is like seeing how good of a fighter you think you are. For some reason, no matter what the difficulty, the difficulty will be set to the hardest setting when you fight SHIN AKUMA. So far, I have not found any weaknesses when fight SHIN AKUMA. You're just gonna have to use all your wits, skill, and playing knowledge for this game. Another thing about SHIN AKUMA is that he has the fastest counter ability of ANY character in this game. He also has the ability to throw 2 fireballs in the air, so watch out for this. One more thing, try to keep some distance from SHIN AKUMA, he likes to throw you a lot when you give him a chance. 8.) ABOUT THIS SECRET MID LEVEL CHARACTER, WHO DO YOU FIGHT? ============================================================ Who you fight depends on who you play as. Each character has their own opponent who has a secret past or secret person who wants a chance at a character you play as. Here is a list of who you will fight for each character you play... ADON = You will fight M.BISON AKUMA = You will fight RYU BIRDIE = You will fight DHALSIM CHARLIE = You will fight ROLENTO CHUN LI = You will fight GEN DAN = You will fight GUY DHALSIM = You will fight ZANGIEF GEN = You will fight CHUN LI GUY = You will fight ROSE KATANA = You will fight KEN KEN = You will fight DAN M.BISON = You will fight CHARLIE ROLENTO = You will fight KATANA ROSE = You will fight AKUMA RYU = You will fight SAKURA SAGAT = You will fight ADON SAKURA = You will fight SAGAT ZANGIEF = You will fight BIRDIE Keep in mind, in order for you to fight these characters, you have to do the secret cheat mentioned above in order to fight these characters. 9.) HOW COME YOU NEVER CALL THE MOVES WITH THE REAL NAMES? ========================================================== Although the real names of the special moves are in Japanese, Chinese, or some other language, I just prefer to be more original so the people who read this will know what to expect from the moves or super moves. 10.) WHY IS SODOM NOW KNOWN AS KATANA? ====================================== Although it really has nothing to do with the USA much, the name SODOM, or at least part of the word, in another language, refers to "LOVE" or "SEX". Keep in mind that NINTENDO is very protective about such things, so when NINTENDO found out about this, they changed his name to KATANA to protect NINTENDO from more political issues. Also because NINTENDO has had a lot of complaints from a lot of people in the past from games they have made, not just gaming companies, about blood, violence, harsh language, and sometimes even adult situations. I do know that the name SODOM is still in the SATURN, PSX, and arcade versions of this game, but that is a different story. 11.) WHO IS THE LAST PERSON YOU WILL FIGHT? =========================================== Just like question 8, it all depends on who you play as. Each character has their own last character they will fight in the end. Here is a list of people you will fight in the last battle, depending on who you play as... ADON = You will fight SAGAT AKUMA = You will fight GEN BIRDIE = You will fight M.BISON CHARLIE = You will fight M.BISON CHUN LI = You will fight M.BISON DAN = You will fight SAGAT DHALSIM = You will fight M.BISON GEN = You will fight AKUMA GUY = You will fight M.BISON KATANA = You will fight GUY KEN = You will fight RYU M.BISON = You will fight RYU ROLENTO = You will fight GUY ROSE = You will fight M.BISON RYU = You will fight AKUMA SAGAT = You will fight RYU SAKURA = You will fight RYU ZANGIEF = You will fight KEN 12.) NAME SOME DIFFERENCES BETWEEN STREET FIGHTER AND STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 2? ============================================================================= Okay, here is a list of things that are a little different from the STREET FIGHTER (A.K.A. FIGHTING STREETS) game... 1.) Gen, Birdie, and Sagat are a lot slower in this game than in the first 2.) Gen, Birdie, and Sagat are not as powerful as they used to be 3.) Even Birdie used to be faster than in the Alpha series 4.) Ken and Ryu look a little different from the first game 5.) The story from the first game was about fighters from around the world 13.) I HEARD THAT THERE IS AN ILLEGAL VERSION OF STREET FIGHTER II ARCADE? ========================================================================== Although it has nothing to do with STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 2, this is actually true. Incase you don't know what I mean, I'll recap for you. During the time when the TURBO edition of STREET FIGHTER II came out, they made several versions or updates of the regular, CHAMPION, and TURBO editions. Some of these versions had moves which let the players switch characters during gameplay and you could do some outragous moves. This version is, in fact, illegal to have since this is actually what's called a BETA version. It was only ment for experimenting and testing, not for the public viewing or playing. Some of the other things you could do with these versions was the following... 1.) Although they say it's just a rumor, you could, in fact, handcuff your opponent to you so that the opponent couldn't get away. Part of the trick was playing as Guile and doing a certain move. Of course, you had to have one of the BETA versions of STREET FIGHTER II to be able to do this. 2.) There were some characters you could play as that had the fireball and you could use the joystick to control the direction of the fireball when launched. 3.) Dhalsim had the ability to become invisible so that no one could see him when you were fighting him. Again, you had to have the BETA version of the STREET FIGHTER II game to be able to do this. Just so you know, if you happen to have this BETA version, or you know someone who does, you better take note of this. I don't know if CAPCOM is still looking for these version, but if they still are, you better contact CAPCOM and let them know about this, or you may be in serious trouble. Don't quote me on this since it's been a while, but you never know. 14.) IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BEST FEATURES IN THIS GAME? ====================================================================== Okay, I'll give you my idea of what some of the best fearures are in this game. Keep in mind that it's just my opinion, this doesn't mean that these are the right answers. The features are as follows... BEST BACKGROUND STAGE ===================== Definitely the GRASSY FIELD stage would be the best stage by far. With a lot of lightning, cloud animation, and the flowing grass, makes this stage the top choice for me. BEST TAUNT ========== This would have to be Sakura. I mean, the way she just giggles and points at her opponent makes it so cute. I mean, for a person to stand there and be able to actaully do that and look cute, diserves the credit for taunting. The only other person who would come close is Gen. With the way he just ASKS for trouble is very entertaining. BEST SUPER MOVE =============== This would have to be Akuma and his RAGING DEMON. Not only deadly, but very easy to intimidate. To be able to knock off 50% of a health bar is very scary and not to mention trying to avoid being in contact with this. The runner ups would have to be Gen and his Touch Of Death, very nasty, and Ryu with that Super Hurricane attack. BEST WINNING POSE ================= That would have to be Dan and his thumbs up pose. Yeah, it looks goofy, but what a way to look stupid when you win. I mean, when you are a winner, it's good to look stupid, especially if you are a tough fighter and hardly anyone wants to mess with you. The runner ups are Rolento with his grenade toss, which I have to admit is very wicked, and Gen when he calls you a "BIG FOOL" for even messing with a kung fu fighter. BEST CHARACTER IN THE GAME ========================== If you could play him, it would be Shin Akuma. I mean, to be able to react faster than Ryu or Ken put together, that spells trouble and lets you know to stay away from a person like that. But, if I had to choose a playable character in the game, then it would be Akuma. I mean, with the ability to do over 10 special moves and 4 super moves, that makes him the only character in the game with the most moves. BEST QUOTES =========== That would have to be Zangief and that one quote about blocking his hits with your face. That's just too funny, even for a Russian. THE MOST USELESS MOVE IN THE GAME ================================= That would have to be Dan's Super Taunt. I mean come on, what's the point of having a super move that does nothing but intimidate the opponent. That's about as pointless as watching grass grow for the enjoyment. I mean, you could have taken that move away and surely made the cheat to play as Shin Akuma. If the Super Taunt had the ability to HURT the opponents, then that wouldn't be so bad, but it's just a special taunt ability, nothing else. WORST MOVE TO BE HIT WITH ========================= That would have to be Sagat's Uppercut. I mean, to be able to do a 7 hit uppercut just SPELLS danger right there. The runner ups are Rolento with his 11 hit Patriot Circle, if done right, is very deadly indeed, and Sakura with her 6 hit uppercut attack is deadly enough for me, and she's just a girl. THE WORST CHARACTER IN THE GAME =============================== Dan, all the way. I mean, sure, he's okay, but what's the point of that fireball he's got if it won't go at least half the screen. He's just another Ken/Ryu clone that just needs a little improvement to his moves. CHEESIEST CHARACTER IN THE GAME =============================== Shin Akuma all the way. I can't begin to count the number of times I have come so close to beating this guy, yet he just finds a way to cheese his way to victory. It just doesn't matter how hard you try, he just likes to make you look bad, no matter what. I will say this much, when you fight Shin Akuma and if you think you've won, think again. The closest I have ever come to winning was whan I was playing as Sodom and Akuma's health was 1% and my health was 30%. I was only 1 hit away from winning, but NOOOOoooooo, Akmua just had to perform his Super Uppercut on me and get the victory. BEST MOVE IN THE GAME ===================== That would have to be Akuma's Surprise Throw. To be able to surprise your character with a throw from nowhere diserves a little respect and caution to who ever happens to get caught in this move. BEST CROUCH COUNTER =================== Sakura, no doubt about it. Hey, just do her crouch counter and you'll see why. 15.) BASED ON WHAT YOU SAID, EACH CHARACTER MUST HAVE THEIR OWN STAGE? ====================================================================== Yes, this is very true. Just like in STREET FIGHTER II, all the characters had their own background stage that was relivent to their lifestyle. A list of backgrounds for each character is listed as follows... ADON = His stage is set on a lakeside with a Temple in the middle of water AKUMA = His stage is set in a cave with a large statue inside the cave BIRDIE = His stage is set in a bathroom stall in a bar CHARLIE = His stage is set on a highrise with a Harrier floating in the back CHUN LI = Her stage is set in the middle of a street with bikers going by DAN = His stage is set on a corner flea market DHALSIM = His stage is set in an area in India with elephants GEN = His stage is set in a dark ally with puddles on the ground GUY = His stage is set in a back ally with characters from FINAL FIGHT KATANA = His stage is set in a desert with a big rig truck in the background KEN = His stage is set on a cruise ship in the middle of a pool party M.BISON = His stage is set on a dock with his jet transport floating ROLENTO = His stage is set on a moving platform in front of a billboard sign ROSE = Her stage is set on an Italian water front RYU = His stage is set on a snowy field with a dojo in the background SAGAT = His stage is set on an open plains with a large statue in the back SAKURA = Her stage is set on her backyard in front of her house ZANGIEF = His stage is set inside an electrical power plant 16.) HOW COME NO ONE HAS THE GRASSY FIELD STAGE? ================================================ That's because that's a misc. stage. This stage can only be seen in 2 ways. One is to do the cheat mentioned earlier in this guide. The other way is to play as Sagat and get to the end stage where you will fight Ryu on the grassy field. Incase you don't understand, you have to see the animated movie of STREET FIGHTER II. Although the movie was made in Japan, it came to the states as well. Basically, when you see the beginning part of the movie, it shows a grassy field with Sagat and Ryu fighting in the middle of the field. That's how the idea of the grassy field stage came to be in this game. Along with the grassy field, when you watch the movie, you will also undertsand why Sagat has that bruise on his chest. 17.) WHAT ARE SOME OF THE THINGS THAT ARE MISSING FROM THE REAL GAME? ===================================================================== Here is a list of stuff that is missing from the full version of the PSX, SATURN, or arcade game... 1.) You can't play as Shin Akuma 2.) You can't play as Evil Ryu 3.) Several frames of animation are missing from each character 4.) The endings are not as long as they used to 5.) Certain poses and stances were removed to save game space 6.) You can't play as the classic Dhalsim or Zangief 18.) WHAT WOULD YOU RATE THIS GAME IF YOU COULD? ================================================ Okay, I'll rate this on a scale of 1-5, 5 being the best. I'll also tell you why I gave the rating I did for this game. GRAPHICS = 4 SOUND = 4 CONTROL = 4 UNIQUENESS = 3 OVERALL = 4 DIFFICULTY = ADJUSTABLE GRAPHICS = For a game that came out on the SNES, this is a great translation and has great animation and effects. I have to admit, the people who did the SNES version of this game did a great job. The intro animation was the coolest that CAPCOM has ever done for a 16-bit translation. I like the fact that they used the SUPER FX chip to make the animation and special effects work perfectly. The only drawback and what cause it to get a 4 instead of 5 is the lag and load time during a fight. It was almost as though it was loading a CD from a PSX even though it was a CARTRIDGE. But, when you did a SUPER move, the animation was incredibly smooth. I even enjoyed the SECRET BACKGROUND stage that represented the STREET FIGHTER II anime. That was what also gave this game a plus in animation and cool effects. Great job CAPCOM. SOUND = Although each character in the game had his/her own sounds for special moves and super moves, the hits that you did was almost always the same sound effect. The music was incredibly great to listen to though. Plus, since it used the SUPER FX chip to make the sound effects as well, that was what gave it the plus. Although certain sound effects could have been worked on, and they could have added a few more for the hits, it's still reasonable to listen to. CONTROL = Although the lag and load time was a little hard to get used to, if you have played the other STREET FIGHTER games, the controls are still the same as usual, nothing new to learn and reacted almost instantly when I wanted to do a special move or just wanted to do anything. This is where another plus comes into play. The controls are still as perfect as ever for a fighting game if I ever did see one. UNIQENESS = Well, this is CAPCOM, since the STREET FIGHTER series continues, there's hardly any new to learn about this game. Plus, since the SNES already carries a lot of other fighting games, there's nothing new to learn. The reason why it's not a 1 or 2 is because, even though it's another fighting game, the game is completely different in animation and sounds. I will say that CAPCOM has outdone itself for a 16-bit game. OVERALL = It's an incredible translation from the arcade. This will be a great keeper for all you STREET FIGHTER lovers out there. If you ever wanted a great 16-bit fighting game, then please do get this game. I will say for a 16-bit game, CAPCOM outdone itself when it came to graphics and animation. It's about time CAPCOM did something special for the SNES fans and help keep the STREET FIGHTER series going for the fans out there as well. DIFFICULTY = You can go to the OPTIONS menu and select the amount difficulty you want for this game. Just so you know, you can see the characters ending on the EASIEST setting [ONE STAR]. This is what I like about this game, when you know your bad at this game, just set it to easy, then work your way up to ULTRA HARD and see how good you really are. 19.)
