Wednesday, July 31st, 2002. NEW SURVIVORS FOUND! Angelica Snow and Kate! Thank you IRalfLoireI! I'm currently looking for where the "Kleiver" couple end up. This is the only one to date: Wed. July 10th, 2002. If anyone supplies any additional data, I will update this FAQ. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 0000 - T.O.Contents: In Internet Explorer, press CTRL F, or use the FIND command.. To search for the prefixed #s.. That will lead you to that section. 0000 - TOC (This thing.) 0001 - GAMEPLAY 0002 - PLAYER CHARACTERS and THEIR OBJECTIVES 0003 - THE WAY TO PLAY 0004 - SURVIVORS 0005 - BACKSIDE LAYOUT 0006 - THE ESCAPE ROUTE 0007 - SHIP HAPPENINGS during the HOUR 0008 - ENDINGS and REQUIREMENTS per Character 0009 - SECRETS? 0010 - Player-Found Updates. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 00001 - GAMEPLAY Here are the controls: Directional pad: Move. You can crouch if you press down, or you can also go down walls. You can climb up any wall that is not at a 90° angle (or greater) in relation to the ground to your right, and you cannot climb any wall that is is less than or equal to a 90° angle with the ground, to your left. See below: \ \ \ You can climb the left wall, and the 'ground' wall \ \ counts as a scaleable wall, also. Realize that, \ .' at the beginning, the ship is turned 180°, but as \. ' time progresses, it changes to a focus of either 270° or 90°.. The corridors becoming up and down... X BUTTON: Communicate. This is to reply to "Answer?" and "Communicate?" and such. It's also used to view maps when you find them on the ship. Y BUTTON: When Communicate doesn't work, try this button. It's basically, the "Action-button". You can also use it (while crouching) to help any jumping-passenger people who are following you. B BUTTON: Jump. Note: There are two kinds of jumps.. Mostly up, and mostly left and right. Make sure to do your jumps for maximum distance without hitting ceilings.. that really cramps your distance. R or L BUTTON: This is the button that's basically a "Come here!" command to your survivor-friends. Note: THEY CAN ONLY HEAR YOU so far away! -------------------------------------------------------------------- 00002 - PLAYER CHARACTERS & their Objectives Capris Wisher: A young man who brings his sickly sister on the cruise, but finds her sickness is becoming more and more irritating, causing him to develop an abhorrance for her. To Get the best ending with Capris, you must have saved Amy. Redwin Gardner: A middle-aged counselor who has two kids and a darling wife. He discovers that his nephew, Jack, is also on the ship, and quite a traveler. The hardest character, to get the best ending with Redwin, you must save Stella, Harry, and Jack. Why not his wife..? You have to find her before you try to exit. Jeffery Howell: A doctor in his 60s with a loving wife who he cherishes. To get the best ending for Jeffery, You must save his wife, Adela. Luke Heinz: A crewmate on the bridge who finds that the conditions for sailing are quickly overcoming the Lady Crithania cruise ship. You must save Ismay Townsend to get Luke's best ending. For all characters, the more people you save, the better. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 0003 - THE WAY TO PLAY During the prelude of the game, the Crithania capsizes, and you must escape the ship with as many people as possible. You have one hour to escape, and to save at least 7 people. You can only find 7 people in your party: the 8th may join (but he does not truly count as a survivor friend thing.) The ending you get for the game is based on the following conditions: Did you save your objective characters? Did you save any survivors? For the best ending, you will have done both (the latter to the maximum.) Each character's endings are dependant, but are discussed in section 0008. To escape the ship, you must get to the boiler room before the hour is up. Each survivor you save changes your ending score, and the survivors you save change your ending (when you consider everybody on the ship is a possible survivor.) So, to summarize: Your objective is to get to the boiler room within the hour, doing your objective, saving as many passengers as possible, and making it out of the boiler room. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 0004 - SURVIVORS (Note: Point values are usually right.) Their actual values may change depending on each character, as most characters need to do more things to have'm follow.) From what I gather, you can ONLY SAVE THE PASSENGERS after the ship's initial capsizing: See section 0007. You can only save 7. Henry Abrahams - Engineer - Redwin & Jeffery w/ 3 Survivors - 2 PTS The stupid head-Engineer and his assistant, Henry, get in your way if you try to get to the boiler room after the ship begins to sink. He'll only come out if you have more than three people with you. Henry is the special guy who pastes himself onto your current-list of survivors. You must have 3 people with you, at least, to get the Engineer to argue with you. Each character has to argue with the head-man differently: Redwin: Talk to the guy until Redwin says, "It's no use talking to you, I'll talk to Henry here.", then talk to Henry until you all can leave. Jeffrey: Talk to the guy over and over, and eventually everybody will follow you. once they have, talk to Henry, and he'll follow. Hey, an extra two points is worth it. =) Capris: I don't think you can get past him. I've tried talking to both him, and all he asks you to do is to go check the boiler room.. Which allows him to escape. WHAT YOU DO have to do, though, is be VERY CAREFUL and FOLLOW THIS DIRECTION: Answer everything that the stupid engineer guy says, UNTIL HE SAYS "You should go into the boiler room alone." THAT IS WHEN YOU PAUSE. Wait until Ursar says something, IE: "What's wrong?" THEN YOU REPLY. Reply AFTER he has questioned your pause. THEN reply, and everything's fine and dandy. Luke: Talk to the engineer until Luke insults the Engineer. Then, wait until the engineer leaves ("Everybody Follow me"!) then talk to Henry. Henry will allow your passengers to stay with you.. but Henry will leave. Bummer. I like Henry. =( Stella Adams - Girl - Redwin - (Harry + Stella = 8 prolly) 4 PTS Harry Adams - Boy - Redwin - (Harry + Stella = 8 prolly) 4 PTS Right after Redwin is done talking to his kids, go down one level, stand CLOSE to the door, wait there, and when the ship capsizes, they'll be right there. However, if you want the best ending, I believe it is required to go into the ball room after the ship has capsized, and find their mother's dying body. Jimmy Akers - Crewman - Anyone - 2 PTS There's the crewman who wants his fellow crewmates, and who your main character pressures for answers. He's pretty much near the top-right corner of the newly-bottom deck. When he wants you to help his friends, those people are on the middle floor, on the very left of the Newly-bottom deck.. You can only save one of them. When you get to them, Alan Gebres may not want Luke to save him, but after a bit of testing, I think that if you either keep talking, or if you already have Ismay, he'll come with you. Michael Burnings - Violinist - Anyone - 3 PTS Nearly right next to where the doctor starts: Just go into the room behind the big arches, and you'll see him mourning: he wants his violin which is in the top left corner of the room. You have to jump to grab it, and when you do, he'll join you. This is good, because he's used to console the Burlesque Dancer for a few characters. Katherine Clayton - Best Friend - Anyone - 6 PTS You'll find her and Angelica in the Barber Shop. Locate the Barber Shop like this: Mary Maxwell is on the middle deck's new "Top floor". Go to the right of her, and you'll find another room. Enter that room, and go right, looking for the Barber's Striped-Pole. To save her, first talk to Angelica a lot. Then you have to go over to her, try talking, then go back to Angelica. You talk a bit more, and your character devises that he'll write, in lipstick, to communicate to the newly-deaf Kate. Redwin breaks his, so you have to talk to Angelica again. Use Y to write the stuff. When she says things, try X to communicate back. Luke talks to Angelica, Y-to Kate discovers that he doesn't have his pen, has to talk to Angelica to use lipstick, uses Y to Kate, but it doesn't work. Walk away from kate so Angelica will walk to YOU. Then, talk to Angelica again, and reply to everything, and you'll gain her. Jeffery will talk to Angelica for a bit, talk to Kate, then Angelica, then all you have to do is talk to Kate a lot. Then that's it. Eventually, both will accompany you. Thank you IRalfLoireI. Frank Coney - Guy - Anyone - 3 PTS See Anna Tamaro. Richard Cunningham - Waiter - Anyone - 3 PTS This man is the waiter you find in the cooking room off of the diningroom. Alan Gebres - Crewman - All - 3 PTS See Jimmy Akers. Jack Hamilton - Nephew/Kid - Anyone - 5 PTS Jack, Redwin's nephew (as he is the cousin of Redwin's kids), can be found with a criminal near the non-passengers-filled broken-down elevator, on the TOP RIGHT PART of the "backside". He's with a criminal, but he's only there after the ship begins to sink (about 33:00) Luke Heinz - Player Char. - Anyone - 5 PTS YES! You CAN save Luke! (I now believe that you can find Luke if you have your 'special person' and go to this area. Make sure to note this as you read below. See Jeffery Howell if you forgot who your character's special people are.) He can be found on the "backside" of the map.... Hm. To explain this, look at the the huge-tall rooms with the ladders on each side, when the ship is upsidedown. Go all the way to the bottom left of all of these, and you should find a room that has a pipe, and two openings that cross onto another side, where Luke should be, amongst a lot of crates.. you'll know you're there AND THAT LUKE HAS ARRIVED (He only gets there after 33:00, or when the ship begins to sink), when he tries talking to you through the barrier. The reason he's worth 5 points, is because to get from that place to the exit takes a LOT of careful movement: When the ship has tipped 90° (to 270°), you have to go across that HUGE drum-room space only by the Ibeams Adela Howell - Wife - Anyone - 4 PTS Look at the map. On the middle floor of the middle deck, there should be a set of three-door rooms on the left side of that map. Of the pair, the right-most room of three doors has Adela's room. In that room, MAP-WISE, the left most door has Adela. Another way to look at this, is to find the 3-door room on the Middle Deck that has a three-fire set on the right-exit of that room. Key: | is a door, W is a room-entrance, F is the fire. _ is a wall. _______ See the top? IIRC, it's right below the exit to the | W W W F| "BottoM" deck. ("BottoM" Because it's now the top.) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Jeffery Howell - Player Char. - Luke (So far.) - 5 PTS THANKS TO STEVE BEELAND who discovered this. What you do is you go in there, and talk to Adela. She will refuse to go with you and ask to wait for her husband if you talk to her enough. Jeffery will appear while talking. I have heard from Steve that you can save Luke with Redwin, but I haven't been able to do it myself. Tender Johnston - Gambler - Redwin or Jeffery - 3 PTS You can find him in the room that Redwin's story starts in. When the ship has capsized, he's at the very lower right corner of the bottom Deck. Francoise Maxwell - Mom - Anyone - 4 PTS The mother and the medicine are on the top of the new-bottom deck of the ship.. The room she is in is linked to the room that is directly below the stairs to the middle deck. .. A two-room area.. (IE: When the ship capsizes, remember, this part is now the bottom.) From what I gather, you can definetly get the medicine as the Doc, but for all characters I've gotten to her with, you can get her to follow. (This Point-value might be shaky, as Jeffery gets the medicine while with her, and the others do not.) NOTE: WHEN YOU PRESS "X" WHEN YOU SEE HER, THEN PRESS Y. X to see she's Ok, then Y to talk to her and wake her up. Marie/Mary Maxwell - Child - Anyone - 8 PTS Note: Francoise Maxwell must be following you, and must be close to her to get her to follow. She is hidind behind a table near the stairs to the "Bottom" deck, and she will only follow you if her mom is with you. (And note: This point value is very shaky, as Dr. Howell does a little candy-bar thing with her, Redwin needs to go back to the Doctor's room to get her medicine, while Capris and Luke convince the mother that she doesn't need her medicine. Amy Markarson - Sister/Girlfriend? - Capris - 4 OR 5. (5 if you win-exit, 4 if you don't.) To find Capris's sister, she's on the "New top" of the newly-made "top deck". go all the way left, and you should find an un-blocked door leading into a metallic-ish room. Before that, there should be three doors in a room. She's in the one closed to the metal-room. You can see which room I mean when you look on a map: Look at the bottom deck on the map, an the lower right corner.. then go to the left a bit, and you'll find the three-doored room I mean. Katherine Meibrus - Dancer - Anyone - 6 PTS The lady who used to be a burlesque dancer in the burlesque room. It's a long room that's on the "new-right" edge of the ship, bottom right of the middle deck. She'll follow you regardless of your people, excluding Luke. To get her to follow, as Luke, you need Michael Burnings. See Michael Burnings. Kelly Nelson - Friend - Jeffrey - 3 PTS He's at the bottom of the middle deck, between the two open- doors that lead to the ballroom and the Nurse&Guy, respectively. He can only follow Jeffrey, because he's Jeffrey's friend. Sargeant John Rattler - Bad Comic - Capris - 2 PTS In the room that Capris starts in, you can find him hanging onto the wall. You can talk to him, and eventually after catching him, he'll follow along. Of course, he'll only be hanging if the room's an exact 90° turn. I think he supplies additional story, as when you exit the ship, you talk to him for a bit. THE PIGHEADED COOPER SMITH You need different tactics to get the family to follow you, depending upon your character. Capris: It's simple: Keep talking to them. Luke: Simple. Keep talking to the Mother (The right-most lady. Everything'll take care of itself.) Jeffrey: Talk to wife, talk to husband, answer his reply, answer his reply, talk to wife, talk to wife, THEN press Y, to perform an action.. Fixing her ankle, then reply again. Redwin: Keep talking. Stacy Smith - Daughter - Anyone - 4 PTS Pamela Smith - Mother - Anyone - 4 PTS Cooper Smith - Father - Anyone - 2 PTS (Surprised? ;) Angelica Snow - Barber - Anyone - 4 PTS The Barber Shop room. See Kate Clayton. (Only follows if you gain Kate.) Thanks, IRalfLoireI. Miller Strisers - Panicking Parent - All but Capris - 3 PTS This guy yells to you when you exit the capsized ballroom. If you can't get him to join yoU (excluding Capris), try looking at his dead daughter. (oops! ;) Anna Tamaro - Nurse - Anyone - 6 PTS There's the three people on the "Bottom" of the middle deck, in one of the rooms. Doctor Hendrix is dying. To get them, you need to talk to the lady, and when she begins repeating, talk to the doc a few times. He'll tell that they have to go.. ANd if the guy doesn't auto- follow you, talk to him, too. Ismay Carl Townsend - "Captain" - Luke - 2 PTS You'll find him at the very top of the bridge, leaning onto his knee, after the ship capsizes. Talk to him to find how he's doing, then press Y to get him to pay attention to you. Not much. =D Unfortunately, he is a required person for Luke, but is worth little. --------------- QUICKREF LIST: · Henry Abrahams - Engineer - Redwin & Jeffery w/ 3 Survivors - 2 PTS · Stella Adams - Girl - Redwin - (Harry + Stella = 8 prolly) 4 PTS · Harry Adams - Boy - Redwin - (Harry + Stella = 8, Prolly) 4 PTS · Jimmy Akers - Crewman - Anyone - 2 PTS · Michael Burnings - Violinist - Anyone - 3 PTS · Katherine Clayton - Best Friend - Anyone - 6 PTS · Frank Coney - Guy - Anyone - 3 PTS · Richard Cunningham - Caterer - Anyone - 3 PTS · Alan Gebres - Crewman - All - 3 PTS · Jack Hamilton - Nephew/Kid - Anyone - 5 PTS · Luke Heinz - Player Char. - Anyone - 5 PTS · Adela Howell - Wife - Anyone - 4 PTS · Jeffery Howell - Player Char. - Luke & Redwin - 5 PTS · Tender Johnston - Gambler - Redwin or Jeffery - 3 PTS · Francoise Maxwell - Mom - Anyone - 4 PTS · Marie/Mary Maxwell - Child - Anyone - 8 PTS · Amy Markarson - Sister - Capris - 5 or 4 PTS · Katherine Meibrus - Dancer - Anyone - 6 PTS · Kelly Nelson - Friend - Jeffrey - 3 PTS · Sargeant John Rattler - Bad Comic - Capris - 2 PTS · Stacy Smith - Daughter - Anyone - 4 PTS · Pamela Smith - Mother - Anyone - 4 PTS · Cooper Smith - Father - Anyone - 2 PTS (Surprised? ;) · Angelica Snow - Barber - Anyone - 4 PTS · Miller Strisers - Panicking Parent - All but Capris - 3 PTS · Anna Tamaro - Nurse - Anyone - 6 PTS · Ismay Carl Townsend - "Captain" - Luke - 2 PTS LIST SORTED BY MOST POINTS TO LEAST: · Marie/Mary Maxwell - Child - Anyone - 8 PTS · Katherine Clayton - Best Friend - Anyone - 6 PTS · Katherine Meibrus - Dancer - Anyone - 6 PTS · Anna Tamaro - Nurse - Anyone - 6 PTS · Jack Hamilton - Nephew/Kid - Anyone - 5 PTS · Luke Heinz - Player Char. - Anyone - 5 PTS · Jeffery Howell - Player Char. - Luke & Redwin - 5 PTS · Amy Markarson - Sister - Capris - 5 or 4 PTS · Stella Adams - Girl - Redwin - (Harry + Stella = 8 prolly) 4 PTS · Harry Adams - Boy - Redwin - (Harry + Stella = 8, Prolly) 4 PTS · Adela Howell - Wife - Anyone - 4 PTS · Francoise Maxwell - Mom - Anyone - 4 PTS · Stacy Smith - Daughter - Anyone - 4 PTS · Pamela Smith - Mother - Anyone - 4 PTS · Angelica Snow - Barber - Anyone - 4 PTS · Michael Burnings - Violinist - Anyone - 3 PTS · Frank Coney - Guy - Anyone - 3 PTS · Richard Cunningham - Caterer - Anyone - 3 PTS · Alan Gebres - Crewman - All - 3 PTS · Tender Johnston - Gambler - Redwin or Jeffery - 3 PTS · Kelly Nelson - Friend - Jeffrey - 3 PTS · Miller Strisers - Panicking Parent - All but Capris - 3 PTS · Henry Abrahams - Engineer - Redwin & Jeffery w/ 3 Survivors - 2 PTS · Jimmy Akers - Crewman - Anyone - 2 PTS · Sargeant John Rattler - Bad Comic - Capris - 2 PTS · Cooper Smith - Father - Anyone - 2 PTS (Surprised? ;) · Ismay Carl Townsend - "Captain" - Luke - 2 PTS ---- Total PTS found, then: 100 (assuming max from Amy) THE FOLLOWING PEOPLE APPEAR TO NOT BE RESCUEABLE: ·· The two people in the elevator in the 'backside'. · The person the two people ask you to contact to help save them. · Redwin's Wife, AKA Mrs. Adams. To get to the exit, note the diagram in 0005. Get to the "Long Hallway." Then, follow that to another door, which leads to a room with stairs previously unaccesable. Go past the stairs to the other floor, open the door, and enter the other door. Deal with the Chief Engineer if you have to (See survivor Henry Abrahams.) -------------------------------------------------------------------- 0007 - SHIP HAPPENINGS during the HOUR Random Timing: Ship rotates. (Duh.) AFTER FIRST 10 MINS: Lights on "Top" Deck go out. When 33:00 left: Ship is, instead of inverted, rotated 90°s in either left or right from the basic ship-orientation. Chief Engineer will try to block way into pre-boiler room room if you call your three team-mates (or more) into that room. When about :30 or 1:00 Left: Ship begins to totally fill with water. If you are in the room before the boiler room, you can wait until the water pushes you up. If your teammates are in the room also, all you have to do is get to the top and exit out the door, and your teammates will go with you into the Boiler room. Sequence in Boiler Room: First, the water drops down and forms steam, then you climb up some more, the lights go out, the boiler explodes, steam goes everywhere (can kill you), whole room is hot with heat and steam. Note, if you use this code from Shdwrlm3 on the message boards.. 7E030501 .. You can prevent the Initial capsizing of the ship, the SINKING of the ship, but you cannot prevent the 0:00 deadline. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 0008 - ENDINGS and REQUIREMENTS per Character Capris Wisher: You can get the following people for the best ending: Best: Meibrus, Mary Maxwell, Jack Hamilton, Luke Heinz, Anna Tamaro, Amy, and Sarge Rattler. Note: It's not the highest point rating, nor the easiest, as you will need to get rid of Mamma Maxwell.. I suggest getting them like this: First, using a code found on the message board, 7E030501, from Shdwrlm3, you can keep the ship from capsizing before you can get to Amy's cabin. Then, you do the following: Amy, dash to the middle deck, enter the door near the kid, go into the bathroom, go to the lower floor in the stall, come out in the room near the Sarge, get the Sarge, then, go get Tamaro, then Mama Maxwell, then the burlesque, then go up to get the kid. Your party at that point would be: Amy, Sarge, Tamaro, Coney, Francoise Maxwell, Mary Maxwell, Katherine Meibrus, for a total of 5 + 2 + 6 + 3 + 4 + 8 + 6 == 34 points for 7 people. At this point, you can go with this for a great ending, or.. You can drop Sarge, Coney, and/or Francoise, and pick up Jack and Luke Heinz, as they are worth more points. If you drop Coney and Sarge, you can boost your points to 39 ( 34 - 5 + 10 == 39.) If, somehow, you can get Henry to come along, that's 41. Over the top. But if you calculate everything correctly, you can get a perfect 40 with Jeffery Howell: Adela, Tamaro, Francoise, Mary, Meibrus, Jack, Luke, and tack on Henry who automatically follows, you can get 40 points.. 4 + 6 + 4 + 8 + 6 + 5 + 5 + 2 from henry == 40. However, if the things in 0009 work, perhaps there is higher.. ENDINGS: Best Endings.. (Sunrise, curvey end of ship that goes into water shown.) Have approx. 25 pts. of passengers, which can be partially fufilled by the requirements. Capris: Have Amy. Jeffrey: Have Adela. Redwin: Have Jack, Stella, and Harry. You can find Harry's mother in the ballroom, dying, who tells you to save Jack & the children. I think that is a requirement, too. Luke: Have Townsend. Second Best (Ship hasn't sunk fully: most of bottom visible. Night.) Capris: Be alone, AND/or have Sarge (perhaps a few passengers.) If amy dies while you're trying to escape, you can still escape. Jeffery: Exit without Adela, but with passengers... Or, WITH Adela, but only a few/none passengers. Redwin: Have Jack, Stella, and Harry. No others. Luke: Have Townsend, but nobody else. (Not sure if it's a bad-ending) *sniffle* Bad Ending (End of ship sinking. Night.) : Capris: Exit with Amy, but less than 25 pts. of Passengers. Jeffery: Exit w/o anyone. Redwin: Exit, lacking any of: Jack, Stella, Harry. Luke: Exit with Townsend, but nobody else (NOt sure if these two are bad-endings), or with nobody else, or exit with others, and no Townsend (Bad.) -------------------------------------------------------------------- 0009 - SECRETS? I've found that while playing as Dr. Howell, or Redwin (Practically anyone), if I leave one his friend behind, that friend will magically re-appear (doing wonky things) in the Boiler Room, with his friends. In addition, that also has worked with Luke Heinz as a found person. And I can get that person (And any person who was following that guy way way back) to follow me.. allowing a huge number of passengers following me. I think I lost them on the bottom deck.. That may be a contributor.. Trick to avoid having to sit through each story's intro: Hit Select and Start at the same time. Trick to Get through Boiler Room by Steve Beeland: I found a way to get thru the boiler room without losing anyone. Right when you enter, leave your friends at the bottom and get to the exit as fast as possible. When the fire comes flying from the ceiling, let it hit you and you'll lose 5 minutes, but when you wake up, all of your friends will be at the top with you. But only if you're on the very top platform thing, where the exit is just to the left. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 0010 - Player-found updates. IRalfLoireI : Supplied data about a couple: Husband & Wife, somewhere on ship that I didn't find. Found Angelica Snow and Kate Clayton Steve Beeland: Told me you could save Jeffery Howell, and also showed how to get through the boiler room with no risk and only lose 5 minutes. -------------------------------------------------------------------- FAQ Copyright SoreThumb/Nathan B. 2002.
