While i enjoy making faqs, the latter i despise. So now, i'm going to try to make another faq - only error free this time. Wouldn't that be something? A faq without errors - let's see how this faq for NBA Live '95 turns out! That's about it... - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - | Table Of Contents | - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I. Version History II. Legal Info III. Version History -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version 1.0 - 12/21/99 - 12/22/99 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- One of the more 'different' guides i've written, this isn't so much a helping guide as it is an 'expert guide'. Anyway, it's still version 1.0 and it rules. special thanks to my friends on the gamefaqs.com message boards for all their advice as well, now i can make un-neccesary, really COOL looking ASCII art as opposed to my crappy 'homemade' art. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Author's Note -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please read the following statement issued to all readers: Although i do not get quite as much mail as the famous authors such as Kao Megura, Dingo Jellybean, and Marshmallow on gamefaqs, i do recieve quite a bit of e-mail a day. I do not dislike recieving e-mail, only the ones that are not worth reading. If you wish to contact me at my standard mailing address, feel free to do so as long as it is one of the following: A question _unanswered_ in the F.A.Q, Suggestion, ASCII Art (by request), submissions (also by request), comments, praise, _constructive_ criticizm, or a correction. Finally, when e-mailing me questions, be SURE to include the name of the game your question is about in the subject. EG: Subject: NBA Live '95 Question I receive a few e-mails every now and then qith messages with no subject, or a non-informative subject and a e-mail containing the following: "How do i get ________ just to name a few. Including this, is VERY helpful to me, and will result in a quicker reply! Webmasters, listen up. I recieve an average of 10 e-mails a week from you guys and gals, which in itself is not alot. However, add that to the constant flow of 'normal' e-mail from readers, and it adds up to a few e-mails i do not have time to answer. So, for my, your, and the reader's conveinence, a few "Do's" and "Don'ts" Webmasters - Do NOT: - Post this FAQ On your site directly - Link _Directly_ to this faq - E-mail me about my faq in _ANY_ way, shape, or form Webmasters - DO: - Link _Inderectly_ to this faq. What does that mean? Simple, link to the page at gamefaqs.com - the PAGE, NOT the .txt file. And finally, for all of you 'normal' readers of this faq, a few Don'ts for you as well. Readers - Do NOT: E-Mail questions allready answered in e-mail and\or the F.A.Q., do not e-mail me chain letters, job applications, special requests, incoherent crap, or submissions or ascii art UNLESS i ask for help in one of my guides. Failure to comply with ANY of these rules will result in permanant filtering of your mail. Thank you for listening, and i hope you understand. Jdude84 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Contact Information -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The insane author of this faq may be reached at: Jdude84@hotmail.com. By reading the note above, you know that all mail cannot and will not be replied to as i am too busy with life, writing, or your e-mail was simply one that did not need a reply. You could always contact me on ICQ - but i doubt you'll get a reply on there either unless i know you - or you are a fellow FAQ Author. Failing to comply with the rules outlined in section III. WILL lead to your permanant filtering, and whatever else is neccesary to block all incoming e-mail from you. Thank you for your cooperation. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- V. Expert Guide -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I will say right now that this game is EASY, unless you are looking for a challenge or awesome scores. In this guide i'll show you how to accomplish both with just a bit of tweaking and alot of practice! Lets get on with it! By the way, this won't be anything funny, just paragraph after paragraph of tips to make you as good (or better) as me. ______ __ ______ _ __ / ____/ ______ ___ _____/ /_ / ____/_ __(_)___/ /__ / __/ | |/_/ __ \/ _ \/ ___/ __/ / / __/ / / / / __ / _ \ / /____> _____ _ ______ _ __ / ___/_________ _____(_)___ ____ _ / ____/_ __(_)___/ /__ \__ \/ ___/ __ \/ ___/ / __ \/ __ `/ / / __/ / / / / __ / _ \ ___/ / /__/ /_/ / / / / / / / /_/ / / /_/ / /_/ / / /_/ / __/ /____/\___/\____/_/ /_/_/ /_/\__, / \____/\__,_/_/\__,_/\___/ /____/ Again you probably think i am INSANE for writing a faq on scoring, as you can easily achieve 50 point wins without ANY effort at all. However, when you go for scores like 478-12 it becomes a whole new ball game. I will admit i cheat a bit to achieve such high scores, as it would require playing for months to achieve a skill as high. But lets see you beat my all-time record of 572 points in a 48 minute game in ANY way and then we'll talk. Now it's time to get on to the help guide. Allright, first of all you'll want to set your skill setting to "Rookie", the quarter length to "12", and the style of play being "Arcade". This way you can *ahem* - 'creativly' steal the ball from dopey computer players without getting called for a foul. After you've set all these modes it's time to assemble your all-star team! It doesn't matter which team you pick - as you will trade all the players for better ones anyway, and you'll never use the bench - so pick your favorite team - or my personal favorite - the sonics. Whatever you want to do is up to you. Make the trades below to have the ULTIMATE team (in my opinion that is) ___ _ _ _____ _ / __|_ _ ___ __ _| |_(_)_ _ __ _ |_ _| |_ ___ | (__| '_/ -_) _` | _| | ' \/ _` | | | | ' \/ -_) \___|_| \___\__,_|\__|_|_||_\__, | |_| |_||_\___| |___/ ___ __ _ _____ | _ \___ _ _ / _|___ __| |_ |_ _|__ __ _ _ __ | _/ -_) '_| _/ -_) _| _| | |/ -_) _` | ' \ |_| \___|_| |_| \___\__|\__| |_|\___\__,_|_|_|_| Power Forward - Karl Malone. Obviously you cannot shoot three's over and over again as you will eventually start shooting bricks. You'll need a quick, powerful, tall player to fill this spot. Karl Malone fills this nicely as he is fast, quick, exremly accurate, and his 'check' is EXTREMLY good. I've nailed the occasional '3 with him as well... Small Forward - David Robinson. Yah, he's no small forward and you really don't need one. He's tall, and he can shoot and make pretty much anything within 15 feet 99% of the time. Just in case the 3's aren't coming that game... Center - Latrell Spreewell. This guy is the whole package in this game, opposed to his current situation. He can bomb shots from 25 feet about 89% of the time, dunk, run, jump, block, shoot for accuarcy short-range, AND he does the laundry. What else do you need from a center? Shooting Guard - Mitch Richmond. Think of Spreewell, deduct a few inches, and add a lot more finess and you get the 3-point god known as Mitch Richmond. Point Guard - Gary Payton. So i'm a bit biased, but he rules. He's quick, fast, a great stealer, and he can shoot both the short and long-ranged shots. You won't need him much with Mitch and Latrell, but he's nice to have if they are un-availible. You'll need all the 3's you can get to get the big score. Now that you have the perfect team, what strategy do you use? Uhh, how about this one: ___ _ _ _ _ _ __ __ / __| ___| |_| |_(_)_ _ __ _ | | | |_ __ \ \ / /__ _ _ _ _ \__ \/ -_) _| _| | ' \/ _` | | |_| | '_ \ \ V / _ \ || | '_| |___/\___|\__|\__|_|_||_\__, | \___/| .__/ |_|\___/\_,_|_| |___/ |_| ___ _ _ / __| |_ _ _ __ _| |_ ___ __ _ _ _ \__ \ _| '_/ _` | _/ -_) _` | || | |___/\__|_| \__,_|\__\___\__, |\_, | |___/ |__/ Obviously you know how to get here, just hit pause and go to strategy. As far as defensive matchups go, they will be fine, but you need to change the rest. Set your offense to 3-point, your defense to full-court, your pressure to high, and crash boards on. This way you should get the ball about 2 seconds after the computer inbounds the ball. That is, if your good. Moving on to the tips on how to become the best player ever! ___ _ ___ __ __ ___ _ / __| __ ___ _ _(_)_ _ __ _ | __|/ \ / \ | _ \ |_ _ ___ \__ \/ _/ _ \ '_| | ' \/ _` | |__ \ () | () | | _/ | || (_-< |___/\__\___/_| |_|_||_\__, | |___/\__/ \__/ |_| |_|\_,_/__/ |___/ 400+ was easy for me, only 100 points a quarter. Which was in essence, 35 shots i had to make. In my opinion, 500 is a bit difficult unless you practice for 40 hours, or read this guide. I would have preferred taking the latter, if it was availible to me at the time, so now you get this great faq, ok maybe that was an overstatement. Anyway, getting back to accomplishing the great task of 500+. I myself have only does this about 7 times, my best score surpassing the 570 mark. You allready have your team, you allready have the general strategy, now all you need is the skill and advice from me. - It should take you about 7 seconds to get to your half of the court, and make whichever shot you take, do this and your sure to get 500. - It should also take you about 7 seconds to steal the ball from your opponent via checking or stealing. - If you can't make the 3 for a while, take a few short jump-shots to keep your score alive. - Take as many 3's as possible if you can make them. - Gary Payton, and Latrell Spreewell are the people you want to be taking the majority of the 3's. - Don't be afraid to jam a few as well for a quick score. - Shoot for at least 125 points per quarter, which is very possible. - Once you hit 125, take higher percentage shots if you just want 500 points, this will give you a nice 10 point cushion or so. - During the last minute the clock stops after you make your shot, you can get about 20 points during this last minute if you get a few quick steals. - Whatever you do - DON'T turn the ball over, your turnover ratio should be around 100-1. - Go for blocks as well, i can get at least 8 or so in a game, and they double as quick ways to score, just throw a long pass... Final Note: These strategies are probably not the best but since i'm the only one willing to write up an actual guide for the game we'll never know...So please don't flame me about my strategies - they've worked time and again for me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ VI.
