I've very excited because this is the first ever FAQ/Walkthrough for The Violinist of Hameln! For those who haven't heard or don't know about this game, here is a brief introduction to it. The Violinist of Hameln was originally an anime series/manga from Japan. There were a total of 25 episodes made for TV (the series has been discontinued) over 100 manga, and 1 movie which doesn't exactly follow the series. This Super Famicom game was published by Enix (makers of the Dragon Warrior series) and only released in Japan. It is one of my most favourite series in the anime world! It is very musical and very entertaining. For this FAQ/Walkthrough, I will be relying on the translation patch made by the fine folks at J2e (www.j2e.org). This has been a complete project, meaning that the folks at J2e have translated the game, my friend Eiko and myself have translated the instruction manual and box for this game, and now I am writing the first FAQ/Walkthrough for this game. You can download the complete manual from my website at: http://www.j2e.org/~chip/tvoh.html The latest version of this file can always be found in the following sites: GameFaqs - www.gamefaqs.com My Webpage - www.j2e.org/~chip ¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯- 1.2- About The Violinist of Hameln _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- The Violinist of Hameln was released by Enix in 1995 for the Super Famicom. It is an Action/Adventure game that was spawned from the anime/manga series in Japan. Its whole idea is centralized around music and musical themes. The characters in the game are all musically related. Characters with names like: Flute, Bassoon, Oboe, and Tuba etc. If you have ever seen the anime series on television, there are LOTS more character names that relate to music (Chestra [Orchestra], Lute, Percussion, and Bass etc.). You might notice in the game and common to the series, is the great music that is heard. When you first start out at the title screen, you are greeted by an excerpt from Tchaikovsky's NUTCRACKER. The music is wonderful! Throught the anime television series, you can hear great themes that Oboe will lecture on some of the way through. So overall, if you are into classical music at all, or are musically inclined, then I recommend this game! ¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯- 1.3- About the Game, Translation Patch, and the Manual _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- This game is great! You play as the Hero Hamel (from Hameln) and travel to towns accross the countryside helping people fight monsters that plague their villages. In the beginning of the story at the beginning of the game, you defend Flute's village and Flute asks to accompany you. So the quest begins with Hero Hamel, Flute, and his black crow named Oboe. To be able to play this you need a Super Famicom/Super Nintendo emulator, the game file or ROM, and the translation patch. In my humble opinion, I really think that ZSNES (www.zsnes.com) is the best emualtor to use because for one, it is frequently updated and supports the most games with the most coolest features; and two, it has an autopatch feature which will allow you to play the game without physically patching the ROM. You can do this by downloading the game translation patch and the ROM and putting both in the same directory then rename the patch to the same name as the ROM (or vice versa). For instance, say you downloaded the ROM file and it was named "tvoh.xxx" and you downloaded the translation patch at it was named 'tvohipspatch.ips'. Rename the patch to 'tvoh.ips' and put both the patch and the ROM in one directory, then start up ZSNES and find that ROM and load it. The emulator will see this and automatically patch the ROM in RAM. I won't tell you where to get the ROM but you can download the patch at www.j2e.org. As mentioned above, the great folks at J2e Translations have done a WONDERFUL job translating this game. It didn't take very long to do, but man, the game sure is enjoyable. There have been known problems that after patching the ROM, sometimes the game will not progress past the Enix logo screen in the beginning. If you check out the webpage for The Violinist of Hameln at J2e, it will explain about why this is occuring and how to remedy it. In short, you must add a header to the ROM. You can do this by download SNESTOOL which is available at Zophar's Domain (URL listed below). In the instance that you wish to permanently patch your ROM, you can do so by downloading a little patching tool for Win9x (or use SNESTOOL) and apply the patch to the ROM. This too is available at Zophar's Domain. Where to find everything that's mentioned here: Zsnes - http://www.zsnes.com The Violinist of Hameln Patch - http://www.j2e.org Zophar's Domain - http://www.zophar.net The Violinist of Hameln Manual -http://www.j2e.org/~chip ¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯- 1.4- A Short Message from the Author _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- I first knew about this game by creating my own SNES ROMs CDs. I have every single SNES game ever to be released in the United States on a few CDs and several Japanese ROMs also. But since I am a music performance major (I play the Oboe none-the-less!) I took particular notice to the 'Violinist' in the title of the game. I am all about classical music so I decided to try it out. I must tell you first that I love action/adventure games so naturally the combination between classical music and action/adventure would sound great! WOW!!! I loved the game!!! Even though I didn't understand all the Japanese in it I still loved it! I beat the game several times through and liked it so much I did extensive research into its past. I found out that the game originally spawned as an anime series from Japan. Well, after reading this I just had to get those episodes! So I did. I got all but the last 5 episodes dubbed on VHS and it made me like it even more!!! The music is so wonderful and the story is very enjoyable! And then I found that there was a movie made. So I took a look at the movie and it was pretty funny too. It didn't have a huge amount in common with the series but it was still good. Then I found the original game with the box, cartridge, and manual on eBay. It was VERY expensive but I finally won the bidding and sent the money off to Japan to get my very own copy! Evidently, this game is very hard to come by in its completion. But to make a longer story short, there are numerous items for sale released for this series all the way from keychains to posters and cups. As far as the guide is concerned, I really have enjoyed writing this guide. I have tried to be as accurate as possible, but seeing is how this is my first FAQ/Walkthrough for a game, I know there will be mistakes. If you are an experienced guide writer or think you have ANYTHING to add, adjust, correct, or criticize, then please let me know. I keep a very open mind and would LOVE to hear anything Violinist of Hameln related. Like if you know something I don't or just general suggestions would be great. Thanks! ================= - E-mail Policy - ================= I don't have a huge policy because I don't get tons of email in the first place and because I don't think this game, despite how much I love it, is wildly popular. I just ask that you please read through the FAQ/Walkthrough before you send me an email. I will help you out as much as possible here and if you have a question/comment/suggestion just email it to me. Or if you just want to thank me for taking the time to write this, that would be cool. Thanks for reading! -Chip chipzoller@yahoo.com ====================================================================== ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ 2.- PLAYING THE GAME ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ====================================================================== This game is pretty easy to understand. There are only a few characters you need to know about that are related to actually playing the game. I really suggest that you at least watch a couple of the TV episodes to get a better idea of who is who because all the characters, like I've mentioned previously, come straight out of the TV series. ¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯- 2.1- Character Introduction _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- *WARNING*: IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THE SERIES OR ARE CURRENTLY WATCHING IT, THERE ARE SPOILERS AHEAD!!! IF YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN THE SERIES AND ARE JUST PLAYING THE GAME, READ AHEAD!!! ---------Hamel Hamel is the dude with the BIG violin. Yes that is a violin. I know it looks much like a cello or a double bass, but come on! Couldn't they have made it more violin-esque??? If you watched the introduction you will find out that Hamel comes to the rescue when monsters attack Flute's village. It is said that he defeats evil by the magical music from his huge violin. This is true. Hamel has magical powers that are displayed when he starts playing the vioin. He can manipulate monsters or defeat them with his beautiful music. As you might have guessed, Hamel is the main hero. You will play the game with him and Flute and Oboe will follow you. You only really control Hamel and Oboe will always follow but you determine if Flute will follow you by pressing the 'X' button. For the complete information on this please consult the manual. ---------Flute Flute is the girl who defended the child that was getting beaten at the beginning of the game. In the beginning of the game, you start off in her home village of Staccato (another music term). She wants Hamel to stop the monster attacks in her village and Hamel says he will do it but that she must accompany him on his journey. It's really funny how Flute works because she is basically you bitch! You can pick her up and use her as a weapon or when you get costumes, you can dress her up to get places or break walls etc. And if she gets hit by an enemy she will get pissed at you and may drop some of your gold!!! ---------Oboe Oboe is the wise crow (they translated it wrongly as Raven in the game) who travels with Hamel and gives him advice etc. Oboe has always taken care of Hamel since an early age. If you have seen the series then you know that Oboe was a commander or something like that. I can't remember exactly but he has been transformed into a crow and is destined to follow Hamel around to protect him. You will see the 'CALL' sign flashing above him. This means that Flute will follow Hamel when he moves. If you don't want Flute to follow, you must press the 'X' button so that she will remain where you pressed the button. The 'CALL' sign will no longer flash over Oboe when you do so. OTHER NON-PLAYABLE CHARACTERS ----------Raiel Raiel is the 'Hero of Love' who also has magic abilities through his magical golen piano that he carries around on his back (Rubinstein anyone??). He helps Hamel out on his adventures to keep him out of trouble and travels with the party. Together, Hamel and Raiel make an unstoppable musical force! Raiel and Hamel grew up together and were later separated. Raiel and Hamel were both taught the magical music from Hamel's mother Pandora. ----------Sizer Sizer is the twin sister of Hamel and the daughter of Pandora and Chestra. Hawk Queen Sizer fights with a huge blade that she uses to swoop down and rip enemies apart. Sizer was stolen away from her mother at an early age because the monsters thought that she could open Pandora's Box later on for them. ¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯- 2.2- Gameplay Basics _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Basically like I mentioned earlier, you are controlling Hamel but Flute and Oboe will always follow you; ALWAYS! Oboe controls the fuction of Flute (in a sense), meaning that his'CALL' sign dictates if Flute is following Hamel or if she is remaining where you last deactivated the'CALL' sign. How the game works is your are told a little story between levels or towns since they are towns, and you talk to the people in the town for information about the monster who is terrorizing their town. You can also buy items in the town or stay at an inn etc. Then after you have finished buying/sleeping/talking you can leave the town and venture out in the woods traveling to the monster's castle. Oboe will show you the path on the stage map where you will go next. At the end of each stage, you MUST have Flute with you to finish. If you have lost Flute somewhere in the stage and you can't find her or she is unreachable, then you have to start that stage over again. FLUTE NEVER DIES IN THE GAME!!! If her life goes to 0 then she will start to drop your gold but she will never die. If she falls into a pit or off the screen, Oboe will retrieve her. To get through the stages, you will find costumes for Flute. These are funny as hell and are very useful. How the costume system works is this. Throughout your journeys Hamel will come accross like icons that look like animals. The first one you get looks like a little square picture of an ostrich. Hamel picks it up and you can press start to go to your costume menu. You then move your cursor to highlight the costume you want to put Flute in and press start over that costume. You will exit the costume menu and Flute will pop out of a bag wearing that costume. Read all about it in the Manual. I HIGHLY HIGHLY SUGGEST THAT YOU READ THE MANUAL THAT I REDID FOR THIS GAME. IT WILL EXPLAIN EVERYTHING BECAUSE AFTER ALL, IT IS THE ORIGINAL GAME MANUAL!!! IF FOR SOME STRANGE REASON MY SITE IS DOWN, THEN PLEASE EMAIL ME ABOUT IT AND I WILL FIX THE SITE OR SEND YOU THE MANUAL PERSONALLY!! ¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯- 2.3- The Controls _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Before I go any farther I must HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you read the manual for yourself. The good thing about Japanese instruction manuals is that they explain EVERY detail you could possibly want to know about the game. And they write it SEVERAL times so you get tired of them explaining it. They explain it to you as if you were a toddler! The manual will answer any question or concern you have so please, look there before asking me or looking below. I will not go into great detail as to the controls of the game because as I have mentioned, it is contained all in the manual. Basic controls: Direction Pad (Need I say more?) A - Talk/Musical Attack B - Jump/Cancel Commands X - Controls the 'CALL' Sign/Cancel a Costume Y - Pick up Flute/Items or Catch a Cannon Ball Start - Enter Costume Menu Select - Quit (When in the costume menu) Glide: To glide, Jump up then press and hold up to glide down. ¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯- 2.4- The Screen _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- When looking at the screen that appears once you are in a stage, you might be wondering what all that stuff is for. While some of it is self-explanatory, I will give you the list. Please consult the manual for a better listing. From Bottom Left to Bottom Right: Hamel's Lives Hamel's Health Stars that are collected to access bonus levels Time that is left Gold you have collected in the stage Items you can buy in town or Keys you collect in levels Flute's HP Flute's Facial Expression ¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯- 2.5- Items in the game _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Once again, please consult the manual for a full listing complete with graphics. A Yellow Star - If you can find 4 then you can move onto a bonus stage. A Yellow Note - This increases the potency of Hamel's musical attack by 1. Berry/Cherry/Fruit - Recovers 1 lost life heart. The moment you have all been waiting for. I will do my best to walk you through this. Some elements in this game are extremely simple so you will understand if everything is not exactly chronological. It would be a waste of my time and yours to track every step to make. ¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯- 3.1- Introduction Overview and Staccatto Village _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- The story starts out when monsters are attacking Flute's home village of Staccato. The monsters were sent by Tuba who lives in a castle ouside the village. The monsters are about to kill a small boy in the village when Flute steps in to defend him. Hamel then appears and posses the monsters with his magical music. After this introduction, you appear in the village of Staccato and are engaged in a conversation with Flute. Flute thanks Hamel for saving them when Oboe speaks to Hamel. Flute is surprised that he can talk. Flute wants the attacks on her village to stop but she can't stop the monsters by herself. She asks for Hamel's help and he agrees only on one condition, that she accompany him. Oboe suggests that the suggestion is fair and that she could be Hamel's assistant. Flute agrees, so now you have Flute join you. Once you are finished with the conversation and are free to move about, walk all the way to the left side of the screen until you see a fortune teller. Press up to talk to the people in the town. The fortune teller tells you the legend of Pandora's Box, how a box contained evil and when the box was opened all the evil escaped in the form of monsters to all ends of the world. Chestra led them and the teller says that "That leads to you...". Then you find out you were the one picked to defeat the monsters. After speaking with the teller move to the next guy you see standing to the right. It's the boy from the introduction whom you defended. Walk again to the right to talk to another guy who tells you that Tuba lives in a castle and makes the people suffer greatly. Move onto the girl on the right. She will confirm the legend of the Hero Hamel and is surprised to have him in her village. The next person on the right is the Inn. As you might recollect from RPG's you can stay at this inn for money but it will recover your life meter. It costs 50 Gold to stay at this inn. Next to the right you will see the gateway to Staccato village. Here you can choose to press up to enter the forest and make your way to the castle, but lets keep moving to the right. The next person on your right is the shopkeeper. These are the things he sells there: Item: Hourglass Function: Just like in the stages; it adds 30 seconds to your total time. Cost: 50 Gold Item: Shield Function: This will absorb 3 hits to Hamel before it is useless. This is useful for a short while. Cost: 80 Gold Item: Holy Wallet Function: This prevents Flute from dropping your Gold when she gets hit! Very useful if you have the money. Since you start out with 100 Gold I would suggest that you don't spend any now and collect another 100 so you can get that Holy Wallet. I highly suggest you purchase that. It's well worth it! And finally, the last guy to your right is the village elder. He tells you how Tuba constantly sends monsters to terrorize their village and asks you to help make the attacks stop. This concludes the adventures in the village of Staccato. If you are done walking around and finished listening to J.S. Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring", then exit the village to the right side of the screen or walk back to the gates that you saw earlier that had 'Staccato' written on them. ¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯- 3.2- Movement I _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Now that you are done in Staccato village, move onto the first stage called 'Plains'. There are 3 sections to the Plains that I will discuss Items to get in the Plains: 78 Gold 2 Shot Power-ups (Yellow Notes) 2 Stars 2 Costumes (Ostrich and Frog) <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> AREA 1 Walk to your right and push the stone over the spikes by walking into it and holding the direction you wish to push it on the directional pad. As you walk to the right, you will see a plant that is planted on what appears to be blocks that have a musical note on them. This means that you must use your musical attack to get the plant to grow. Once you shoot it the plant will grow large tomatoes so you can jump on them and go up to get a star. Next, you will see a cannon ball laying on the ground. Do as the sign says and pick up the cannon ball by pressing 'Y' and throw it into the wall to break it which will drop the stones on the spikes so you can cross them. When the stones fall they will uncover a shot increase (Yellow Note) and 1 fruit (replaces 1 lost unit of health). Shoot the poison flower with your musical attack to make it wither. It will not attack for a short period of time once you hit it. Climb up the grass platforms that appear on the brick wall and follow them up to get a 1up. Next, go up the ladder and kill the monster (it will take 2 musical attacks) and shoot the poison flower and behind the flower will be the Ostrich costume for Flute. (NOTE: To avoid Flute getting hit by the poison flower's shot before Hamel shoots it, you might want to press 'X' to make Flute stay where she is until Hamel can kill the flower. The reason for this is depending on how much life Flute has at the end of the stage, you will get a Flute Condition bonus which I will discuss later on towards the end of the 'Plains'.) After you have the Ostrich costume, go back down the ladders and do as the sign says. You must change into the Ostrich so you can cross the spikes unharmed. Walk all the way to the right to complete this area. AREA 2 Shoot the poison flower BEFORE you walk over there. Shoot through the wall at the monster before you break the wall. You do this by pressing 'Right' twice and then use your musical attack. You should notice your musical attack will not get blocked by the wall but rather continue on through it. It takes a few tries to get used to it but you should get it. Break the next wall to drop the stones and get the health if you need it. Climb up the ladder and work your way accross until you see a green leafy platform. Press the 'X' button so Flute won't follow you then pick her up and toss her upwards. Make sure that you haven't pressed the 'X' button because you need her to stay up there and not follow you. Once she is up there, you must jump up there and stand on her head and jump up to reach the shot increase. Walk down the ladders all the way to the bottom. Change Flute into the Ostrich costume to cross the spikes. Shoot the enemies and jump to get the 1up. Don't bother going up that ladder as it leads to where you just came from. The reason for comming back around is to get the gold. Keep going right over the spikes riding on top of Flute in the Ostrich costume. Duck when you get to the block of the thorns suspended in the air. Climb up the ladder and go right to exit the area. AREA 3 As you kill the poison flowers and the poison snakes, you might notice the blocks that appear to have Flute's hat on them. These mean that Hamel cannot go under them but Flute can. You will see these later on in the game. Break the wall and let the 3 stones drop. Make sure you aren't under them or you will get squashed. To break the next wall you must throw Flute into it. Don't worry, this doesn't hurt her. Break the next wall and push the stones on the spikes so you can cross them. Walk up the ladder and change Flute into the Ostrich to cross the spikdes and get a 1up. Then when you see the blocks with Flute's hat on them (Flute blocks) jump on Flute to reach the ladder and go right. Flute will pick up the gold as you walk as long as the 'CALL' sign appears over Oboe. Keep moving to the right and you will see the Frog costume. When you get it and go down the ladder to meet Flute, have her change into the Frog costume and jump up to the ledge and off to the left is a bonus star. At the right is the goal for the 'Plains'. About the Flute Condition Bonus: If you complete the stage without getting Flute hurt once, then you will recieve a bonus in bonus stars (which is usually 2). If you complete the stage and Flute only is hit once, you will get 1 star. If you complete the stage and Flute has gotten hit more than twice, you will be awarded no bonus stars. And since you must have 4 to enter the bonus level, you won't be able to in the first stage unless Flute has not taken any damage. Even though Flute will never die, you want to take care that you try to protect her so that you can get a Flute Condition Bonus at the end of each stage. *BONUS LEVEL (providing you have earned 4 bonus stars) In the bonus levels you have a time limit to get as much gold as you can. Often, there are things like 1ups in there also. This is a great opportunity to collect lots of gold! In this one, you should change Flute into the Frog costume and jump around on her to collect all the gold. You will collect all the gold, 1up, and a shot increase (Yellow Note). You might notice as you collect the gold that it doesn't increase your gold meter on-screen. This is because after you complete the bonus round through the 'EXIT' door (or time runs out) it will tally up how much gold out of what there was to get, and you get to keep what you collected. It is kind of wierd but it works. There is 100 Gold to be collected in this bonus area. Items to get in the Forest: 105 Gold 2 Stars 2 1UPs 1 Shot Power-Up 1 Hourglass Fruits <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> AREA 1 If you collected 4 stars in the previous level and went to the bonus stage, you should not have any stars left when you start the 'Forest' level. Ok, this one is pretty straight-forward. You will see the blocks that only Flute can go under at the beginning only you probably don't want Flute to go under them. Instead, have her change into the Frog costume and jump up and over to get the gold. Continue on down whilst killing the enemies. Once you get at the bottom, don't go across the mossy platforms. Instead, go under where the spikes are to get more gold. Once you continue over the platforms and move to your right collecting gold, ascend the next set of platforms to get more gold, but don't forget to jump to your left because there is a shot-increase. Do down the ladder and continue up another. Push the rock to the right and underneath is a piece of fruit. Be careful to whither the flower before you push the rock or else you will take damage either to yourself or to Flute. Continue up and over to find the exit. AREA 2 This one is cool...immediately travel to your left and ascend the mossy platforms. You will find some gold and a golden star. Once you are back where you started, move to the right to find a musically activated platform and pulley. At current position, the platform is on the other side. You must shoot the spindle that appears over the "note block" to have the platform travel to you. Once you are on, shoot the spindle again to travel. Climb up the ladder and jump up and to your left to get gold and a 1up. Continue over to find another set of musical platforms. Move to the right and pick up the hourglass. Don't jump down because you will die! Continue up and over and get three pieces of fruit and gold as you move to your right. The next area is ahead. AREA 3 Ahh...some of you should recognize this tune. It is Bach's Rigaudon. Here you probably want to use the ostrich to get over the spikes quickly. Continue to your right and up to get gold and a bunch of fruit if you need it. Move to your right and get the golden star. Continue down and to the right. Once you climb the ladder, change into the Frog and jump up to get gold and a 1up. Break the wall by throwing Flute into it or let the monster break it for you. Catch the ball he shoots out and throw it back at him and the end is near. *BONUS LEVEL During the level you will have collected 2 Stars so must have a perfect Flute condition bonus that is worth 2 Stars to get to this bonus level. This Bonus Level is sort-of annoying. THere are different levels in which gold appears. The gold is usually on the either sides of a ladder whilst descending. You should probably throw Flute down to each level, turn off the 'CALL' sign and proceed to get the gold until you get to the botton when you need her to get a Shot Increase and a 1up. If you collected all the gold, you got 100 gold in this bonus stage. Items to get in the Castle Entrance: 2 Costumes (Robot and Curling Puck) 1 Shot Increase 19 Gold <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Listen to the cute dialogue between Flute and Hamel, then proceed inside. Once inside, be mindful of the dragon heads on the wall that drop fire. Once you get past that, you'll come to the Robot costume. Put Flute in it and use it to break the blue walls by jumping on her head. Continue to the right and watch the fire. After you get past that, have Hamel stand on the green button to let Flute in and continue through the door. You can't kill the skeleton so don't bother trying. Just stun him and continue up. When you climb the ladder, pick up Flute and throw her into the wall. Then once she returns, position her under the unfolding platform and shoot a note at the mirror. Now jump on Flute's head and onto the platform and up to get the shot increase. Next, leave Flute standing on the green button and walk through letting Hamel stand on the next button and call Flute through. Use Flute to break the next wall and continue past the skeletons and fire. Continue over to the right into the wall which you can walk through. Break the wall and position Flute under the platform and shoot a note at the mirror and jump up and to the right to get a 1up in the chest. Go up and break the wall, then position Flute on the green button, shoot the mirror to extend the platform, and call Flute under the blocks and up the ladder. Even though the exit is at your right, you need a key so continue to the left and throw Flute at the two small blue bricks in the pillar to have the ball come crashing down on top to clear the path. Change into the robot and go to the left. When you see the arrow of coins, change Flute into the Frog costume and jump up to get another 1up. Go down and get a 5 coin, a key, and the curling puck costume. Now go back and exit through the door. If Flute took no damage then you get two golden stars. Items to get Inside the Castle: 50 Gold 1 Golden Star Various Fruit <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Right off you should change Flute into the curling puck costume and throw her down so she kills all the snakes and gets all the gold (by killing the snakes with Flute you will also get gold). In the next section, either catch the cannon ball, shoot, or throw Flute at the lizard man to kill him. Break the pillar and kill the lizard men. Next, have Flute stand on the green button and have Hamel shoot the mirror to extend the platform. Then, jump off of Flute's head and onto the platform and then up to get a 5 coin, fruit, golden star, and 10 coin. Proceed to the right by breaking the pillar and walls. Jump on the vertical-moving platform and up for a fruit if you need it, then break the pillar and continue down getting the key and on to the goal. *BONUS LEVEL Man, this bonus level is really tough. It's filled with blue bricks so you must start off by throwing Flute around to break them. Change Flute into the frog costume so you can jump up around the platforms to get the gold. You don't necessarily need to worry about making up to the exit. You will still get your gold and items if you collect it all and just wait at the bottom until the time runs out. In this bonus you will collect a shot power-up, a 1up, and 100 gold. Items to get Inside the Castle Part 2: 28 Gold 2 1ups 1 Shot Increase 1 Golden Star <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The first part is straight-forward. When you get to the top, activate the buttons and get a 10 gold piece. Continue down by breaking the walls with Flute and push the barrel to the right. You will come to a spot where there is a tile and outline of the curling puck costume. Obviously, you should use the curling puck costume and throw Flute down the stairs to kill the snakes. Continue through the door. When you get to the snakes, change Flute into the curling puck costume and throw her up to break the pillar and get the fruit. Continue up the ladder. When you come to the mirror, position Flute on top of the ladder and shoot the mirror. Jump on Flute's head to reach the platform and jump up to get the 5 coin. Push the barrel all the way to the left and jump up and right to get two 1ups in a chest. Change Flute into the Frog costume and jump up the steps and when at the top, go to the left to get a shot increase and another 5 coin. Continue down, and when you come to a ladder above your reach, position Flute under and jump up and continue to the right and up to get the key. The goal is just ahead. Items to get Inside the Castle Part 3: 12 Gold 1 Shot Increase 1 Golden Star 1 Hourglass 1 1up 1 Health Increase <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Ok, in the first part, just listen to the dialogue and then throw Flute at the wall directly in front of you. Don't worry, you won't die; and no, you cannot break the other wall and continue to the other side. In the next section, you will be isolated from Flute and will not be able to get her back until near the end of this section. You will have to go at this one alone, but that is good because sometimes she just gets in your way! Continue down by letting the lizard men break the walls with their cannons. Then either catch the cannon balls or shoot them to get rid of them (by hurling the cannon ball they shoot, you get gold!). When you come to a section with a vertically descending ladder, go down and get the items in the chest then shoot the mirror and jump on the platform and then up to get out. Next, push the barrel all the way to the right and then shoot the mirror to extend the platform over the spikes to cross. Continue up by the vertically moving platforms and right to get a golden star. Continue left. Go down and left across the spikes if you want an hourglass. Gontinue up and get Flute, fruit, a health increase, and the key. Shoot the mirror to extend yet another platform to cross. The goal is just ahead...but dont' go yet! Continue to the right wall. You will see a chest imbedded in it. You want to change Flute into the robot costume and point her in the wall's direction. She will walk through the low space in the wall to get the 1up in the chest. Now you may proceed through the goal. *BONUS LEVEL This bonus level is pretty cool. The strategy here is to toss Flute against the wall to break it. You want to toss her so that when she breaks the wall, she rebounds off of it to get the gold near it. When you come to places where the wall bridges a gap, throw Flute at the wall then quickly pick her up and toss her so that she doesn't fall. In this bonus level you will collect 1up, a shot increase, and 100 gold if you got a perfect score. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This guy is pretty easy. The object is to hit him on the helmet about where the red dot is located. You must do so while rocks are falling from the ceiling. But you can shoot and destroy the rocks. In the boss level, you shouldn't worry about keeping Flute from getting hit as it is of no importance since you will not recieve a finished level bonus. After the battle, you return automatically to the home village and the Elder says that basically, the village is poor and they have no money. Hamel says it is no problem and not to worry, all he wants is Flute's help. ¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯- 3.3- Movement II _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- When you first enter the village at the beginning of Movement II, you will see that Flute is in an Orangantan Costume and dancing about. You meet a little boy who says that his parents were killed by the rat Bassoon (not related to Oboe). The boy says that Hamel and Flute can rest at his place. When Hamel and Flute awake, they find the boy vanished along with a note saying he has gone after Bassoon. Once you are free to move about, check out the people in the village and check out the poster at your far left. It seems Raiel is looking for Hamel; too bad he won't find you until the end of the game. You might notice that you now have the Orangatan costume in your repetoire, however, you will probably only use it once. There is another costume you can buy in town that is very useful, but it costs 800 Gold. Buy it when you have the money. When you are done buying things and talking to the people, head out of the village for the Lake. Items to get in the Lake: 24 Gold 1 Costume (Penguin) 1 Up 1 Shot Increase <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> From the very beginning, head to your left and climb up the brick wall to get the 1up and then continue to the right. Keep heading right killing the seahorses, bats, and porcupines. This first section is pretty straight forward. Hop on the musical trolly to move to the right and replenish your health with some fruit and continue to the next section. Once in the new section, continue to the right and then up the ladder and about to get your penguin costume that you will need before you hit the water. Change Flute into the penguin costume to cross the water. Remember, you jump on the penguin's head to make it dash in the water to kill enemies. The next section is just ahead. In this section, continue right and then up the ladder and across the musical trolley to get some gold and a shot increase. Move through the water by putting Flute into the penguin costume and at the far right is the goal. *BONUS LEVEL This bonus stage is pretty easy. Change Flute into the frog costume and just hop about to get a shot increase, an extra life, an hourglass, and 100 gold. Items to get at the Man's House: Sunfish Costume <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hahaha....this one is pretty different and funny. The object is not to beat it, but to figure out what the man wants. He is looking for his daughter Natasha that has gone lost. And if you remember from the beginning of this village, she was wearing an Orangatang costume. So, you need to change Flute into the Orangatang costume and then talk to the man. He will tell you he thought that Flute was her and gives you the Sunfish costume as a gift. Exit to the right to enter the next stage. Items to get in the Monster's Tower: 89 Gold 1 Shot Increase 1 Hourglass 1 Costume (Duck) <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> AREA 1 Now this level is moderately difficult and aggrivating. You must use the Sunfish costume all the way through this one. Start off by positioning Flute in the SUnfish costume directly under the visible row of vertical coins. The Sunfish will float up and on a pre-destined course, so don't worry about steering her. You can, however, slow the vertical movements of the sunfish by pressing down when ascending. You may walk freely about on the sunfish without worrying about changing directions because of the pre-determined path. Travel around this first section and try to get all the gold whilst avoiding the enemies that will fall in your path. There really isn't much to say about this section except get all the gold (hard to miss) and don't get hit (presents more of a challenge). AREA 2 This area is a little more difficult in that there are many ways that Hamel can get hit and more importantly, Flute. This area of the level is a really good opportunity to use Flute's UFO costume if you bothered to purchase it at the store in the village. What that costume will do for you, or rather Flute, is this: you change Flute into the space ship and she will float around you and stay with you. You can use her for a footstool if you need be, and she isn't as easily hit. In the beginning, go right and cripple the skeletons and continue up the ladder where you will encounter a ghost holding one of those spike wheels. Just shoot the ghost and all will disappear. Be mindful of the golden skulls as they will hurt you. You can step on them, just don't let the bottom side of the skull come in contact with either members of your part (excluding Oboe of course). Continue up and over past the conveyor belt and down and to the left to get a 10 coin and a piece of fruit. Continue to the right. At your right are several walls over spikes that you must traverse by putting Flute into the robot costume and break the walls while killing the ghosts. At the end is a shot increase. Go back to your left and down the ladder to continue. When you are at your left, here would be a good idea to put Flute into the UFO costume and use her as a foot stool to get the gold and up past the blocks. When you get atop this area, you should see more ghosts and a spike pit laden with gold. It would be a possibility to put Flute into the Ostrich costume and just walk over the spikes. You will probably have to use the Frog costume to jump up to the ledge at the end. Continue over and get a 10 coin, some fruit, and then the Duck costume. Go to the farthest ladder to the right and down to get the key and break the wall. Now go the the left-most ladder to descend it. The door is just ahead. AREA 3 This one is slightly tricky. You see the "anti-penguin" sign telling you to not use the penguin costume. You must change Flute into the Duck costume to get past this watery area. The strategy is to jump on the Duck's head as soon as you get to the flat-faced vertical pillar. When you jump on the Duck's head, the Duck will dive into the water and then re-surface. You will have to get used to how the Duck works, so it may take a couple of tries. Cross the water while killing the fish (if you so choose, seeing as they will not harm you) as well as the ghosts. When you come to the section will the golden skulls, it is advisable to let Flute just swim along (as the skulls will not harm her if she is in costume) and have Hamel take turns jumping from skull to skull at the prime spots. Continue to the right. When you finally come out of the water, you should notice two yellow buttons on the ground. Go through the same daunting procedure and have Flute stand on one of the buttons while Hamel stands on the other one. This process shall "un-earth" the exit for this level. Items to get Inside the Tower: 23 Gold 2 Shot Increase 2 Keys (Red & Green) 1 Hourglass Fruit <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> As soon as you enter, you shall see some water to your immediate right. Do not be tricked into jumping into it or traversing it as it leads to a wall that is in plain view. Instead, continue to your left and through the door. You will encounter a pink ghost, but don't worry because he will not harm you; just deter you. Once through the door, change Flute into the Sunfish costume to ascend and get some gold and a shot increase. If you drop/fall off Flute before you reach the top portion will the ladders, you will either have to change her into the UFO costume, or have Hamel fall down via the right-most pathway and then let the conveyor belt take him to the other side to meet up with Flute. When at the section will the breakable walls, change Flute into the robot costume and break the walls while Hamel climbs atop the golden skulls to traverse the the spikes. Continue over and down to get the green key. Next, you must change Flute into any water-suitable costume to get past the water and get a piece of fruit and the red key. The green door is just ahead. In this next section, head left to get another shot increase, and then right to get a 10 coin and fruit, then continue down the ladder to reach the red door. In the next section, change Flute into the duck costume and continue to the right. When you approach the ladder, be weary of hurrying up it, because there is a golden skull waiting to crush you. Time your exit from the ladder carefully, allowing time for Flute to catch up. Continue to the right past the skulls when you come to a descending ladder. Past the ladder to the right are two more skulls, and further on past that is an hourglass and a 5 coin. To get these items without taking damage requires Hamel to time it just right until both of the skulls move in tandem. Only then will you be able to clear the skulls and the spears. The next section is a little tricky. Be sure that you keep Flute from getting hit while you speed along the conveyor belt, and be sure to hurry her up past the falling bricks in the floor. The goal is just ahead, but if you have kept Flute's health full thus far, and she falls into the water via the falling bricks, her health will plunge to zero. *BONUS LEVEL For this bonus level, it is probably a good idea to change Flute into the curling puck costume and throw her around the room. If you knock out the first wall to your right, you won't be able to get the 1up, but you will be able to get all 100 gold and a shot increase. You must first push the barrell down from on top of the wall to get the 1up. Items to get Inside the Tower Part 2: 69 Gold 2 Keys (Green & Red) 1 Costume (Monkey) 1 Bonus Star 1 Shot Increase 1 Health Increase 1 Hourglass Fruit <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Start out by going up the ladder and activating the musical "trolley" to get to the other side. Once you get up the next ladder, you should see a door with a green key-hole. You don't have the key so just continue up and through the door. Avoid the ghosts if possible as they will slow your progress. Once in the new section, break the wall to your right and move to your left to push the barrell out of your way. change Flute into the Ostrich or some other creature and go the the left avoiding the golden skulls. Once at the left, have Flute stand on the button to let Hamel jump on the platform. Now jump accross the skulls and up to get both keys and the monkey costume. Go back down and meet Flute and change her into a costume to get accross the spikes and back to the beginning of this section. Once you are there, change Flute into the monkey costume and just jump on her. The monkey will automatically jump when there is a pit and cling to the wall. It looks like you are just going to walk into the pit, but the Flute will jump. Just continue to the right and you will come to the red door. In this next section, do the same thing you have been doing and change Flute into the monkey costume and progress to the right (this is pretty straight-forward). When you come to the conveyor belt just before the ladder, turn around and go back to your left. Go down the ladder and have Flute stand on the yellow button so that Hamel can get accross to get an hourglass and a bonus star. Continue on the given path up. Once in the next section, go down and inside the green door. In this section, move to the left and change Flute into the duck or penguin to get accross the water and get a red key. Then, either change Flute into the frog or the UFO to get up the platforms. Go up and get the chest and then down the ladder and up to get a shot increase. The goal is just above you; but before you go through the goal, change Flute into the curling puck and throw her accross the spikes to get another hidden item. Items to get Inside the Tower: 17 Gold 1 Shot Increase Fruit <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This level is like a previous one. You must change Flute into the sunfish costume and just avoid the spike balls and monsters until you reach the goal. Not much to say; avoid the bats and the ghosts and try to pick up the shot increase. You will also come accross a bunch of fruit which isn't too difficult to get. During this level you should try and get all the gold (17). *BONUS LEVEL This bonus level is a repeat of one past. Simply put Flute into the frog costume and jump around until you get everything; fairly easy. Be sure to go past the goal and get the remaining gold before exiting the stage. During this stage, you should be able to get 100 gold, a shot increase, a 1up, and an hourglass to extend your time. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Yet another reference to a music instrument. Bassoon is a big rat that says he has captured the boy when Flute asks him if he has him. The strategy here is to avoid bassoon's needles that he shoots from his mace. Avoid the falling snakes watch that bassoon doesn't come down on top of you. He is fairly easy; you shouldn't take too much time on him. After you kill bassoon, you will return to the home village where you meet the boy. The boy says he knew that Hamel would come after him if he left. He said that he was captured shortly after leaving the village. The boy then says that Flute is pretty; like his mother. Hamel and Flute say that they will definately come back. Very cute. ¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯- 3.4- Movement III _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- When you first enter this Movement, you will start in a wrecked part of the village where there will be monsters you must kill. Kill the monsters and move to the right to enter the "social" part of the village. When you are in this section of the village, you meet a flower girl whose mother has gone away. She is try to sell flowers from her mother's garden to support herself. So Flute and Hamel help her and are going to make a journey to the monster Faggott's castle. Exit to the right, but not before talking to all the people. If you need health, sleep at the inn; if you want to buy something at the store, they have an exploding costume, a holy mantle, and an hourglass. The exploding costume isn't worth it and probably neither is the holy mantle. The exploding costume lets you turn Flute into a bomb, and when the time expires, she will blow up and kill whatever is near. Items to get on the Mountain Road: 12 Gold 2 Costumes (Monster & Frisbee) <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Ok this road is pretty damned easy. Here is what I do and I also recommend....just put Flute into the ostrich costume and ride her through the level! Thats it! Just collect the monster costume (functions like the orangatan costume) and the coins and kill the bats, bugs, and skeleton monsters on your ride. It is pretty easy. The first section contains the monster costume and the second contains the frisbee costume. With the frisbee costume, you just simply throw it, and it should return back to you. It functions along the same lines as the curling puck costume. *BONUS LEVEL This bonus level is just like the one in INSIDE THE CASTLE in Movment II. Items to get in the LAVA CAVE: 52 Gold 1 Shot Increase Elephant Costume Pieces of Fruit <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This level is very straight forward and easy. The main point of it being to get and practice using the elephant costume. One of the quick ways to get through this level before you get to pick up the elephant costume (not that it's some major speed increase) is to put Flute into the ostrich costume and just walk your way through the level picking up the gold and avoiding all the enemies since there are only a few. Once you pick up the elephant costume, jump on its head to make Flute squirt water. Obviously when you get to the point where the columns of flames are moving in your direction, you shall need to extinguish each colum as it heads your way. And that you will have to extinguish the "bud" of the flame to the left-most part of the ground since the flame always travels from right to left. Keep heading to the right to find the goal. *BONUS LEVEL This bonus is the same as ones past. Please refer back up to find the strategy. Items to get in the MOUNTAINS: 28 Gold 1 Bonus Star <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> At the beginning portion of this level you will see a monster at the right of the screen. Don't worry he won't hurt you, but go to him and talk to him. He won't let you pass. To get by, change Flute into the monster costume and then talk to him again, he will finally let you pass to the next section. Now this section of the level provides a better challenge that lots of previous stages. In this section, continue to the right by getting the obvious chests that have coins and killing the enemies. When you come to the first mirror, above your head is a platform with two chests on it. You can get these by using lots of different costumes like the sunfish, the frog, ostrich etc. Shoot the mirror to activate the moving platform that will take you down. Continue to the left killing the enemies and finally getting the red key. Turn Flute into the elephant to extinguish the flames. You may notice when you get all the way to the left a mirror behind a wall. But there is also the same mirror/platorm you came down on. There are two different ways to get back up. The most obvious is to go back to where you came down and ride the platform back up. The second uses a method not previously discussed. But if you wish to know NOW how to get the second way I shall mention it. Keep in mind that I will cover this later on. You need to make Hamel shoot through the wall to hit the mirror so you need to press << + shoot. Meaning, you press the directional arrow in the direction in which the wall is. So if the wall is to your left, press left twice then shoot. If you did it fast enough and correctly you should see the note pass through the wall and hit the mirror. You will also know if you performed this correctly because there will be a distinguishing sound for this attack. This is a helpful method of shooting since it can pass through all kinds of objects, not just walls! Once you have done this, go back up to the spot where the door is to continue to the next section. This section is straightforward. Just be sure you keep clear of the enemies. Once you get the key and move on, there is a spot with a pillar block you from what looks like open areas and then a ladder descending down. Have Flute extinguish the flames and then go back up to the pillar. Turn Flute into the frog or some other costume of your choice and look carefully at the wall. You should see tiny platforms. Jump accross these to the other side and get the gold above them and the extra life to continue on. Jump up the next few platforms to get the bonus star. The goal is just ahead. Items to get in the MOUNTAINS PART 2: UFO Costume Bird Costume 1 Shot Increase (and gold) <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Ok now this level is starting to get moderately difficult. It is pretty obvious what to do like most levels but slightly difficult to actually carry it out. If you have not previously purchased the UFO costume earlier in the game, this is the official place where you get it (and it won't cost a penny here). If you decide to get it, from where the first key is, go up the ladder and its to your right. Finish this section by finding the shot increase and put Flute into the UFO costume to let her ride around the level. What is good about the UFO costume (if I hadn't already mentioned this earlier) is that Flute takes no damage whilst riding in it like most other costumes, and she kills enemies just by touching them and gets gold! Because of this it is difficult to determine accurate gold count for this level. For the next section, just put Flute into the UFO costume and try and get through the level. This is probably the best way because she will take out your enemies for you. Be sure to get the key by pushing the block over the button to retract the stone wall. Navagate your way to the bottom right to finish this section. In this section you will get the bird costume which is probably one of the most valuable in the game. This costume turn Flute into an eagle sort of bird and lets you basically fly where you want to go. Jump on her head to make the bird dart in that direction. This is an attack an can be used to kill enemies. You can control the vertical direction by pressing up or down but cannot control the speed of her. You will also pick up an hourglass towards the end of this segment. The end is near...the goal is just ahead. Congratulations on this level! Items to get in MOUTAINS PART 3: 14 Gold 1 Shot Increase 1 Extra Life <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> In the first part of this level you talk to a man who is injured and the mother whose daughter was left at the village. This segment is very difficult to determine a cohesive thought. The Japanese is strange and the English even stranger. For this next section put Flute into the bird costume and navigate your way through. This shouldn't be too much of a problem. Be sure to get the shot increase and the gold. Don't hit the spikes. The goal is just ahead. *BONUS LEVEL This is pretty simple. Collect a 1up and 1 note increase by using a combination of costumes. Curling Puck and UFO work well here. Mix and match to get the job done. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This is a strange boss. Just in the nomenclature...faggot can mean several things. It is the german word for bassoon or it can also mean a bundle of sticks like a palasade as found in several of Thomas Hardy's works. Anway...avoid his bombs that he drops as well as the ghosts. When he swoops down upon you, jump up and shoot him. It shouldn't take too long to put this faggot in the bag. When you finish him, you will return to the village for a shot scene. Good job on this movement! Now, onward.....! ¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯- 3.5- Movement IV _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Ok now the plot thickens. If you watch the series this is where it gets interesting. When you first enter the village for Movement IV, like so many previous ones you will see a cut scene of Flute, Hamel and Oboe talking. The village is destroyed and Lord Chestra (Orchestra) is wreaking havoc. You move a little more to the right and see Raiel, the Hero of Love. He says that Hamel is moving north to see Chestra because he is his son. Yes, this is accurate by the way. Flute doesn't believe him and Raiel vows to destroy Hamel. Now we move on to the village. Talk to the people and buy what you need. Items to get on the Mountain Road: 106 Gold (!) 2 Bonus Stars 2 Shot Increase Various Health <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This is pretty easy here. Just be sure that you kill the new enemies that look like walking trees and the bird people dudes. You can get the bonus star if you change Flute into the curling puck costume or robot even. Also look out for the shot increase. It is easier to finish this stage if you change Flute into the UFO costume at the beginning. She will kill your enemies and collect gold for you! There are four sections to this stage so keep from getting hit too much. Items to get in the Forest: 2 Bonus Stars 2 Hourglass 1 Up Octopus Costume Various Health <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The Forest isn't too difficult at first, but there are four stages so be ready. The first two or three aren't bad, you just move to the right, kill enemies and pick up some gold. On the fourth one, is a water level, go all the way when you start out to your right to get the Octopus costume. From there, turn Flute into the Octopus and move her into the water. The octopus works much like the bird in that it will move up until you press the down key. That is pretty much all that the octopus can do so don't be too surprised. Navigate around the various passages and aviod the other evil octupus and cyclones that are about and finally to your right and up to get the goal. You will need to find several hourglasses to extend the time to make it possible to reach the goal however. These hourglasses are located in the various passages near the surface. ====================================================================== ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ 4.- SECRETS AND EXTRA STUFF ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ====================================================================== ====================================================================== ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ 5.- FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ====================================================================== ¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯-¯- 5.1- Clearing Things Out _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- I didn't really know what to put in this section so I will briefly re-cap what has already been mentioned before.
