Introduction --------------- The 2nd Parodius for the Super Famicom, probably has the highest fun factor and the most memorable music through out all the Parodius games! Unlike the 1st Parodius (But like the 3rd one), you can make it so once you die, you can start right where you died! Anyways, on with the FAQ! V1.0 - 10/1/2000 - FAQ is finally finished, 7 months later than expected!!! I'll be working on the character's option list for the next update. 2. Characters ------------- Meet the wonderful and wacky heroes of Parodius! What are they fighting for? I don't know, I can't read Japanese! The 2nd Player character will be an opposite of the 1P character, and their weapons will not change, only their looks! The Spaceship: Vic Viper (2P - Lord British) Speed Up Missile Double Laser Option Force Field The Octopus: Takosuke (2P - Belial) Speed Up 2-way missile Tailgun Ripple Option O Trap The Stick Figure: Koitsu (2P - Aitsu) S. Speed S. Missile (Little Koitsus, depending on where you are, they do funny things) S. 3-way S. Energy Laser (Like on Gradius 3, hold to make it bigger) S. Power (Upgrade) S. Shield The Penguin: Pentarou (2P - Hanako) Speed Up Poton (Misspelled Photon?!?) Options ------------ Choose difficulty level, if there are "random" power pods, if you can revive in the same place, etc... 4. Areas -------- (These are short descriptions of each area, so you can see the areas on your own!) World 1 - The Crane Machine Music: A famous tune, not sure it is called! Boss Music: Forgot what this is called (It's Don Flemanco's music on Punch-Out!!) w/ a bit of another famous music World 2 - The Ocean Music: Stars and Stripes Forever Boss Music: I know I've heard this before... World 3 - The Bakery Music: Nutcracker? (or something related to it?) Boss Music: ? World * - The Moai Ship (Randomly appears after any stage except the final) Music: Ride of the Valkyries Boss Music: ? World 4 - Speed Stage on the Highway Music: William Tell Overture Boss Music: Gradius boss music World 5 - In Space Music: Yankee Doodle, Mary had a little lamb, dance music from FF3j/death on City Connection, London Bridge Boss Music: Sounds very familiar... World 6 - The Moon Music: Japanese tune Boss Music: No clue... World 7 - Dance Club! Music: familiar suspensful music, Famous dance mix music Boss Music: And what is this? j/k World ** - Special Stage (After beating the game) Music: ?, Music from bacteria level on one of the Gradius games?, Gradius 3 Level 2, Gradius 2 for Famicom 1st area, others. Boss Music: Flight of the Bumble Bee 5. Bosses --------- (Most bosses will die on their own if you wait too long...) World 1 - --------- Dancin' Panda - Stay in the upper right corner and fire your missiles and aim for the mallard duck, or go down to the duck's level and shoot him, while avoiding the creatures. World 2 - --------- Mermaid - Stay to the far left, and shoot her "spreading japanese symbols" attack. keep shooting her in the face, and on higher difficulty levels, the ship on her head can throw bubbles that arc to the left, so avoid them! Once in awhile, the mermaid will create a giant splash on the far left side. Stay near her face when this happens! World 3 - --------- Lips: Part Deux - The boss is exactly like the 3rd boss on Gradius 3! Stay above until the ship goes into place, then go down to its level, and shoot when the mouth opens, at the little gingerbread men. There are 3 of them that take a few hits each. If the mouth doesn't open, go to the top of the screen as it is going to try and crush you! World * - --------- Mamma Moai - If you die once (without the revival option) or lose all your turns, you automatically go to the next level and you don't get to fight the boss. Those who are lucky to avoid the ship, you are traeted with a giant Female Moai head! Stay to the far left, aiming and shooting at her eye. She shoots out horizontal moai that are like homing missiles. After every few of these, she shoots out a LONG one, that can be avoided by going the opposite way she isn't going! Keep shooting her in the eye! *Remember, the above level appears randomly during the game* World 4 - --------- Highway Mantience - Once you reach the boss, kill the top arm. Next, aim for the bottom arm. After that, avoid the missiles, and shoot the spinning things inside it's body. After they are destroyed, blow up the 3 cores! World 5 - --------- Power-up Pillow - This is more like a bonus rather than a boss! Stay away from it, and it will throw millions of pod options! Get these and get maxed out on weapons, and try to defeat the boss! After the million pods, it will throw some spread pods. These are random pods, and can make you or break you! If you don't defeat the pillow, it just goes away. If you do beat it, you get a cool little animation :) World 6 - --------- Rabbit Woman, stay away from me!! - After getting to the boss, start shooting at her face. Soon, her fan will break and she will shoot strange neon rabbits. Go up and down avoiding these while shooting at her face. After breaking of her ears, she will start making all kinds of strange-shaped rabbits. Avoid these and finish her off! World 7 - --------- Attack of the 50ft Showgirl and the final battle - You can't kill the showgirl, just avoid her until she leaves! Do this by going under her feet 2 times, then she will drop down, and you must go through her hands and face. Avoid the penguins! After this, she will leave. Then you will be off to the final boss. Good Luck :) World ** - ---------- Robo-Penguin This is no doubt the hardest boss in the entire Parodius series! He starts by shooting missiles they curve up and left, then he'll spin his head throwing fire. After that, he will shoot a laser aimed for you, then he'll release a red penguin that can be shot for a power-up item. Then he'll fly up and out of the screen, then he'll be at the top of the screen flying to the left, then he'll be at the bottom of the screen, flying to the right, then he'll land again. During all of this, keep firing at it's head. Every successful hit will make his head turn in one place. 6. Help Me! ----------- I need someone to help me: - translate the story (I hear this was made in Europe and in English on the PAL version of Parodius Deluxe Pack for PSX/SS) - find any codes (Well I did, but all it does is kill you: up, up , down, down, etc..., I think you know the rest...) - The names of some of the tunes I don't know! 7.
