Email: giga_shock@hotmail.com Version 0.7 A FAQ/Walkthrough for the SNES strategy RPG FIRE EMBLEM 4. *Note: I know I'm missing a lot of stuff so can you please e-mail me. You will be thanked. Translations are very much appreciated, especially for the chapter names. Don't ask me about the heading...it's too hard for me to do the Fire Emblem 4 title in ASCII. Also names are translated names. I know that they can be a little different (e.g. Jamuka/Jamka) but the names are similar enough to know who they are. ************************************************************************* Contents: 1. Legal Stuff ************************************************************************* {{{{ 1.Introduction }}}} ************************************************************************* I, like most people, became interested in Fire Emblem when two mysterious characters called Marth and Roy appeared in Super Smash Bros: Melee. Fire Emblem, one of the late games from the SNES, was an interesting concept. Combining strategy with RPG it created an incredible sense of freedom, diverting it from the usually linear RPG's. I noticed there were very few guides to the FE series so I decided to make one myself. Initially, I borrowed the Japanese version of Fire Emblem 4 from my friend and I understand VERY LITTLE Japanese. I am no doubt aware of the ROM and the partially translated patch (in fact I based this walkthrough on it); so don't ask me for it and an emulator. About legality, if you do download the Rom, delete it within 24 hrs, blah, blah, blah. *Note: I'm very sure the translation patch has many errors, so can anyone tell me if there is a mistranslation? Thanks. ************************************************************************* {{{{ 2.Version Updates }}}} ************************************************************************* 0.8- (21/9/03) Okay...it has been WAY too long since I've touched this. Well I'm back into Fire Emblem and now on a FAQ-completion rampage, adding stuff whenever I feel like it now. 0.7- (26/4/03) MAJOR updates! The walkthrough is now through another chapter! More characters and pairings as well. Changes have been made thanks to Thief Fighter. Also the FAQ section has been moved up...right below the version updates. Change the format a little as well. Ugh, too much stuff to mention. 0.6- (17/4/03) Okay, maybe I was over exaggerating when I said 65% complete...about really 30%. I noticed that I got the names wrong for the special hit skills so that's changed. More characters have been added to the list as well as some extra bits of info. Walkthrough is now done up to Chapter 3. Sorry it took so long to update but I was too busy playing Metroid Prime :D 0.5- (16/3/03) First attempt of making the guide. The walkthrough is done up to Chapter 1...every else is pretty much complete! Aside from a few glitches here and there, the mating guide, the FAQ and the character list, it's practically 65% complete! ************************************************************************* {{{{ 3.FAQ }}} ************************************************************************* Q: What the hell is going on in Chapter 5! A: The story is too complicated to explain here. And anyway, if I did, it would give out a MAJOR spoiler. Just wait till I've complete Chapter 5 in the walkthrough. Q: Wahhh, Yurius is too powerful! My characters are maxed level and I still do 1HP damage to him! A: There is a VERY easy way to defeat him. After conquering Freege, you may notice that Yuria comes out of Velthom as an enemy. Have someone hit her with the Sleep Sword or cast sleep with the Sleep Staff. Then have Selis quickly conquer Velthom and talk to Yuria. Yuria will now be on your side. Have her visit Velthom to gain the almighty Narga Spell. Use it to kick Yurius' ass. Q: How do I get *insert character name here*? Is it worth getting them? A: Check the Character list and the Walkthrough. The character lists give you an explanation of what they're like and their usefulness. Q: Hurry up with your Pairing Guide! A: Be patient...it take quite a long time to pair everyone up. Especially those characters who take like 5000 turns to love each other. Q: Is there any significance for characters having Holy Blood? A: Yes! Apart from the obvious weak blood gives a A rating for that weapon level as well as strong blood has the same effect as weak blood AND lets the character use their respective Legendary Weapon! Not only that, Holy Blood also gives stat boosts! Baldo: Raises Strength, Skill and Luck Hezul: Raises Strength and Skill Odo: Raises Skill and Speed Noba: Raises Strength and Defence Dain: Raises Speed and Skill Neir: Raises Strength and Defence Ulir: Raises Luck Blaggi: Raises Luck and Magic Defence Fala: Raises Magic Sety: Raises Speed Tordo: Raises Skill Heim/Narga: Raises Magic and Magic Defence Loputous: Raises Magic and Magic Defence Q: How come Finn only comes with an Iron Spear in Chapter 7? I left him with a Killer and Silver Lance in Chapter 3! Where did these weapons go? A: If he had a son, all his weapons get passed down to him. Otherwise he retains his weapon when he leaves in Chapter 3. Q: Who is better? Johan or Jolavier? A: This is a matter of personal preference. Johan acts like Lex because he's mounted, so he can help demolish armies early. However, unlike Lex, his stat growth isn't nearly as good. Johan, on the other hand, has excellent stat growths and becomes a powerful fighter. But since he's not mounted, he'll probably arrive at the battlefield too late. When promoted, Johan has the ability to use Bows as well. So its your call. ************************************************************************* {{{{ 4.Controls }}}} ************************************************************************* Fire Emblem 4 controls are unusually like Final Fantasy controls. A to comfirm. B to cancel. X for menu. But as with every other game, Fire Emblem 4 has its own unique controls. It uses a square cursor to select things. <<>> Directional Buttons- Move cursor A- Open up main menu (not selected on unit) A- Select unit/commands, use unit commands (Cursor on unit) B- Cancel commands Y- Hold down to speed up cursor X- Check Character/Unit's status (On unit) L- Scroll through Castles R- Scroll through Characters Select- Brings up main menu Start- Bring up Map <<>> Directional Buttons- Move cursor A- Select, highlight B- Cancel selections, go back Y- No function X- View special/status data (in some menus) L- Page up R- Page down Select- No fuction Start- Select, cancel menu ************************************************************************* {{{{ 5.Playing the Game }}}} ************************************************************************* Fire Emblem uses a "phase" based structure. It lets the player move all his/her units then when they are finished, the computer has their "phase". When both the player and computer have a phase each, that is one turn and it starts again. Simple? <<<
>>> The main menu has a maximum of 7 commands in total. They are in order: Units Item List Chapter Data Skill List Configuration Save Game (before you move a unit) End Phase Here's an explanation of each of the commands: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Units--- The unit command is probably the command you are most likely to use most frequently (aside from End Phase). When you select it, a screen comes up displaying all current characters that you have. The first set of data shows IMPORTANT DATA. It displays the character's name, class, level, exp and current/max HP. The second set has EQUIPMENT DATA. It shows the character's equipped weapon along with the weapon's power, accuracy and the character's dodge percentage. The third is FIGHTING SKILL DATA. It shows all of the character's attributes. Fourth is PERSONAL DATA. From left to right, it is the character's movement range, gold, arena level and conversation legend. The conversation legend is probably the most important as it can trigger many events. The next set of data has the WEAPON LEVEL. It shows what kind of weapon that character can equip. It ranges from C (the lowest) to * (the highest). The higher the ranking, the more weapons that character can use. The last sixth set of data is the character's SPECIAL SKILL. Displays all of that character's skills. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Item List--- Shows all current equipment that is OWNED. Any equipment that is in the Pawn Shop and such are not displayed here. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter Data--- Displays all castles, its units and their leaders. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Skill List--- Gives a list of all available skills and who has them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Configuration--- Animation: Switches to "real time" battles to "map" battles. Land effect: Turns on/off the small land effect data on the top of the screen. Unit window: Turns on/off the character's name/HP when the cursor is over them. Message speed: From 1 to 5 with 1 being the slowest, 5, fastest. Enemy movement: Toggles to speed up enemy movement. Sound: Choose from stereo, mono and mute. Auto save: Automatically saves at the beginning of each turn. Auto Cursor: The cursor will move to your leader at the beginning Of each turn (On/Off) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Save Game--- Saves the current game at that turn. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- End Phase--- End your turn. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <<<>>> Battles are fought in "real time". Say you come up to an enemy, and select the "attack" command. It then simulates a short (or long) battle between the two characters. The characters equipment, their attributes and the land effect that they are in determine battles. The options that come up before the battle commences are: Attack - Self-explanatory, it attacks the unit with the currently equipped weapon. Some weapons can attack from a distance, check the weapons stats to see if they can. (Press X on a unit then press X again) Charge - Only appears when you are assaulting a castle from the main doors, it is basically the same as the attack command. Rod - Use a staff depending on the situation. For example, if a unit has a Live Staff and there is an injured unit nearby move the unit, which has the staff, next to the wounded unit, and select "Rod" then the preferred staff. <<<>>> Make sure you save! It is very important because one mistake could lead to the destruction of your party. Also, don't save at every turn. Always have a turn back point. Using all 3 saves is best. <<<>>> Try to get as many levels as possible. More levels=more powerful characters therefore a much easier game. When a character dies, THEY ARE GONE. But there is one way to resurrect them and that is with the Valkyrie Staff. It has only one use and is VERY EXPENSIVE to repair. So be careful. Losing is when either (1) the main character dies, which is not that likely if you keep Sigurd/Selis well protected. The other is (2) if ANY enemy unit arrives at the doors of your starting off castle. Eliminate all enemies on the map is the best way as you net lots of experience. <<<>>> The strongest weapon is not necessarily the best. Having a lighter weapon can be much more effective than a heavy one. Have characters switch weapons often to adjust to the situation. The walkthrough will state certain weapons in certain situations, but otherwise, have fun giving characters your own preferred weapons. Other equipment can be things such as Staffs and Accessories (Rings). Staffs as passive, as they can only heal and inflict indirect damage such as status effects like Silence. Rings however, power up your character by a certain amount. This can cover character weaknesses but most of them are hard to find and expensive to buy. <<<>>> Castles are important. Very important. Each castle that's conquered gives money to all the units that live through the chapter to the next one. Also DO NOT LET THE ENEMY CONQUER YOUR CASTLE!!! If ANY enemy does this, it's game over. With every castle you conquer, you gain the ability to use the town in that castle. The town is a great place where you can buy/sell weapons, store items and even fight in an arena. The basic layout is very easy to understand. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Weapon Repair | Pawn Shop | Storage | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Arena | Fortune Teller | Item Shop | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- WEAPON REPAIR-Pretty self-explanatory. Repairs any weapons in possession for a fee. How much you have to pay depends on the weapon. PAWN SHOP-Here you can buy and sell weapons "pre-owned" by other characters. Prices sell half of the original price. STORAGE-Stores weapons, magic and items FOR THAT CHARACTER. Any items in storage cannot be accessed except by the character who deposited the item in the first place. ARENA-A character can take part in battles to gain experience points and gold. In all chapters, there are a total of eight battles, increasing in difficulty as the character progresses. Can gain a maximum of 17500 gold. FORTUNE TELLER-Not much use, but it can tell you the characters kids and the history of Fire Emblem with no cost! ITEM SHOP-Buy items from the shop. Duh. Items cannot be sold here, and new items appear in every chapter. One more thing...save all villages!!! They contain useful hints, money and sometimes even rare and valuable items! You should always take care when liberating them and choose the appropriate character for the situation. ************************************************************************* {{{{ 6.Walkthrough }}}} ************************************************************************* Although incomplete, here are a few notes to understand it a little better. -There is a table, which has all of the arena fighters in it. -Conversation list -With Bosses, a (E) means the bosses' currently equipped weapon and (I) means that this item is given to the person who defeated the enemy/boss. -Constantly keep changing your weapons and items with other characters. -The arena is divided into two sections. One where the enemies use melee weapons and magic, the other where they use sniping weapons only. -Bosses are regarded as units who have a portrait in their statistic screen, regardless whether they be friend or foe. -There are SPOILERS in this walkthrough so read at your own risk. -If you're wondering what couples to pair first time round, here are some easy couples to pair with. Doing these pairings will produce powerful kids, while not necessarily the best; they are the most recommended to having a balanced and powerful party in the second half. Edin and Mideel(Jamuka) Ayra and Holin Lachesis and Beowulf Sylvia and Claude Fury and Levin Tiltyu and Azel Bridget and Jamuka ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ <<>> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The game opens with an invasion of Verdane on the local castle Jungby. Lady Edin is in terrible danger and has only her loyal archer Mideel to protect her. The neighbouring castle of Chalphy, with it's leader Lord Sigurd, has decided to fight for Lady Edin's safety. Along with three of his friends, Sigurd plunges into battle regardless of the danger. {Arena} None {Shops} None {Recruitment} Lex - Joins automatically on turn 2 Azel - Joins automatically on turn 2 Cuan - Joins automatically on turn 3 Finn - Joins automatically on turn 3 Ethrin - Joins automatically on turn 3 Mideel - Joins after the defeat of Jungby {Conversations} Lex -> Sigurd: Chatter Azel -> Sigurd: More talk Cuan -> Sigurd: Even more talk Ethrin -> Sigurd: Guess what...even more talk! Alvis <-> Sigurd: Sigurd receives the Silver Sword (Events) -If anyone visits the village at the bottom, they will receive the Speed Ring. When the game first starts, become accustomed to the controls, practicing moving the cursor and navigating the menus. After you've done all that, you may notice that there is many enemy units spread across the map, many of which are trying to burn down villages. You can either immediately conquer the castle Jungby or go around saving the villages. If you choose the latter it's best to have your small force split into two groups. Have Sigurd (mounted unit, has blue hair) firstly take out the Beast Man within proximity by using his Steel Sword, then continue to move him down the southern path. You should never change Sigurd's weapon in this battle as all the enemies use Axes here and Swords get a bonus against them. Bring out Adan if you want and follow Sigurd. Meanwhile have Alec and Noich team up to take care of the enemies burning down the houses while killing as many axemen as they can. Also make sure that no enemies try to take over your castle. Otherwise, game over. After finishing your phase, Gandolf will invade Jungby and wound the Arch Knight guarding the castle, namely Mideel. He then takes Lady Edin and travels to Evans castle, breaking a bridge along the way. By now, some of the Mountain Thieves are burning the villages. Lex (blue hair, uses axes) and Azel (red hair, has a cloak on) will now join. Have Azel go up to the nearest village and kill the thief with his fire spell from a distance. You can do this by moving Azel once space apart from the enemy and selecting "attack". Lex should save the village in the upper left of the battlefield while weakening/killing any enemies that pass by. Meanwhile, Alec and Noich should be rushing over to help Azel take out any strays. Azel is very weak in defence so protect him in forests and such. Sigurd should continue his rampage through the lower path, never changing to the Iron Spear. Adan should follow. After phase 2, new characters arrive. Cuan, Ethrin and Finn, all of Lenstar Kingdom have come to assist Sigurd in his battle. Have all three of them go down to assist Sigurd while Ethrin heals anyone who is wounded. Azel should start making his way down to Jungby and Alec and Noich to save the village farthest left. If Alec or Noich's HP is under half of their max, you should let them visit a church to heal them to max (for a fee of 5 gold) but it's better to let Ethrin heal them so that she can gain exp. On turn 4, Lex should be attacking the thief raiding the village at the top left while Alec and Noich are busy taking care of the village to the west. Sigurd should save the village at the bottom. Have Finn fight the majority of battles here as well as Cuan. Make sure you keep Ethrin out of harm's way. Be careful as even though the enemies here are very weak, the slowly start to chip away at your health so don't be too overconfident. Once all the villages are saved, have Ethrin go around and heal everyone. Don't use the churches at the moment; you need Ethrin to get experience points. Once done, assemble your force near the bridge Gandolf broke except for Azel and Sigurd. The village at the bottom contains the Speed Ring. Give it to whomever you prefer although Lex or Ethrin is recommended. Plant Adan in the spot where the bridge was before. -----------------------------Boss-Battle--------------------------------- Demagio (cannot join) LV: 10 HP: 45 Class: Axe Fighter Guarding: Jungby Holy Blood: None Equipment: Steel Axe (E) Difficulty: * A bloody easy boss, Demagio is a push over. Just send anyone who can use a sword to kick his butt or have Azel kill him in one round. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once Demagio is defeated, have Azel go over to the others and Sigurd conquer the castle. Sigurd's aide Oifaye will find a knight on the ground none other than Mideel! Mideel will now join the party, get him up near the rest of the group. Gerard will then rebuild the bridge and send a few beastmen and archers to dispose of you. Don't move Adan, instead let him attack whoever's in front of him, having everyone else pop in for a quick attack and Azel and Mideel help dispose of archers. Have Ethrin heal and if everyone is taking too much damage, have them retreat a small distance so that Ethrin can heal them while healing Adan if he needs assistance. Alvis, a NPC (non-playable character), will arrive from the top of the screen. He can fight (actually he'll kill the whole army if you let him) but his main concern is to talk to Sigurd. Have Sigurd move up to him and engage in conversation. After knighting Sigurd as a Holy Knight, he will receive the Silver Sword. It is better that Alvis doesn't attack anyone, as you need experience. After receiving his new sword, have Sigurd finish off any remains of Gerard's army and put everyone around Evans castle. -----------------------------Boss-Battle--------------------------------- Gerard (cannot join) LV: 20 HP: 55 Class: Axe Fighter Guarding: Evans Holy Blood: None Equipment: Steel Axe (E), Hand Axe Difficulty: * Honestly, this guy is nothing. I got nearly all of my characters Lv20 and promoted by attacking him and letting him recover to full health. You could do this...but it takes a looooooooong time. Otherwise, kill him with Azel and Mideel. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- After the defeat of Gerard, just let Sigurd conquer Evans. Another of the king's messengers arrives and talks of the current situation. Sigurd explains he is determined to drive out the Verdanes and rescue the Lady of Jungby. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ <<>> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ After conquering Evans, Sigurd's and Cuan's childhood friend Eltoshan visits the castle of Evans, asking Sigurd about the current sitiation. Cancels conversation between Mideel and Edin Mideel -> Edin: Mideel and Edin will start to fall in love. Cancels conversation between Azel and Edin {Events} -Have Lex go to the end of the peninsula to the right of the forest Diadora came out of. He will then receive the Hero Axe. After the brief conversations, go inside your castle and immediately buy weapons for your units. Give a Small Sword to Adan, the Iron Spear to either Alec or Noich, and the Javelin to whoever didn't get the Iron Spear. Lex should have the Steel Axe, but don't sell his Iron Axe. Sigurd should sell his old Steel Sword to Alec. Have all characters fight in the arena. (Note: The arena above is divided into two sections, one for melee and one for long range. Use corresponding to each character.) Saving the village on the other side of the map is a major concern, as you need to be FAST if you really want to save it. However, you might lose a couple of units in the process so be wary. Initially, have all characters move down to Genoa at their maximum range. Kinbois force is coming towards you so you may as well meet them head on. Have Cuan talk to Finn to raise his stats. On turn 2, three people will come out of Marpha. Edin and Deu are released by Jamuka and will tell them to run. As Jamuka leaves, have Edin and Deu retreat to the bottom where there is a thin strip of beach. Have Edin retreat to the left part of the beach with Deu to the right of her. That way, when the Beast Men come to attack, they only attack Deu and not Edin, as well as the additional fact that Edin can heal Deu if he gets hurt AND Deu gets experience and money this way! After moving Deu and Edin near the beach, have the rest of the characters go and meet Kinbois. Sigurd should be there already and attacking as well as Cuan. Be careful, as Cuan is weak against the axes. Leave Azel, Mideel and Ethrin at the back. Have someone kill the Mountain Thief nearby and collect the gold. By turn 3, Deu and Edin should have just entered the beach. Your characters, shouldn't have suffered that many hits. Have everyone start to kill the rest of Kinbois army, but save Lex's movement along and 1 or 2 other units. -----------------------------Boss-Battle--------------------------------- Kinbois (cannot join) LV: 10 HP: 50 Class: Warrior Guarding: Not guarding any castle Holy Blood: No Equipment: Silver Axe (E), Hand Axe (I) Difficulty: ** Finally a boss worth fighting! But it's still not saying much, as the only hard thing about him is his high attack power courtesy of his Silver Axe. Have 1 or 2 units weaken him to about 10-14 HP then have Lex kill him to claim his Hand Axe. Sigurd with the Silver Sword is the unit of choice to weaken him, but if he's too strong, use a combination of Noich, Alec and Finn. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- After defeating Kinbois's army, have Cuan lead everyone to Marpha so that they can assist Deu and Edin. However, keep Sigurd, Alec and Lex near Genoa castle BUT NOT IN RANGE OF AYRA ATTACK!!! Make sure you heal Alec. Once in position, have Alec go into Ayra's range and have Lex and Sigurd go to a little to the south west of Genoa. Alec should be good enough to dodge the attacks of the Axe Fighters, as well as being able to survive 2 attacks from Ayra. Then have Alec run off to assist Cuan. Lex must somehow weaken the enemy guarding Genoa by either using the Steel or Hand Axe (Steel is better) and have Sigurd finish him off. -----------------------------Boss-Battle--------------------------------- Ayra (able to join) LV: 4 HP: 32 Class: Sword Fighter Guarding: Not guarding any castle Holy Blood: Odo (weak) Equipment: Iron Claymore(E) Difficulty: ****** It IS possible to kill Ayra but why would you?!? Getting her to join however is very hard. Having Alec lure her away is your best bet, and then have Sigurd conquer Genoa. After that, have Sigurd immediately talk to Ayra and she will join! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- After conquering Genoa and getting Ayra, a battle will take place in the upper portions of the battlefield between Highline and Nodion. Don't worry, Eltoshan kills all of 'em without breaking a sweat :) Continue to help Deu with your main force. You should be able to beat them in 2 or 3 turns. Soon after defeating the army who were meant to capture Edin, the rest of Gandolf's army will charge. Plant Ayra in the lone piece of forest near the Church and watch her tear apart the opposition. Have Mideel and Azel support her if things are getting too rough. As soon as there are no enemies left, have Deu speak to Edin so that she receives the Warp Staff have Edin speak to Ethrin so that she obtains the Return Staff. Finally, do all other conversations but the conversations between Azel/Mideel and Edin are a little different. Whoever speaks to her will start to fall in love. I recommend Mideel because Edin's children are pretty well rounded, while having Azel as the father produces one POWERFUL unit and one CRAP unit. But it's up to you. After sorting all the conversations, have Edin and Ethrin heal everyone and anyone rescue the village on the southwest side of the screen. -----------------------------Boss-Battle--------------------------------- Gandolf (cannot join) LV: 20 HP: 60 Class: Warrior Guarding: Marpha Holy Blood: None Equipment: Hand Axe (E), Skill Ring (I) Difficulty: *** Being brother to Kinbois he ain't really that hard. And just like his brother, he's only annoying thanks to an item, namely the Skill Ring. Have Ayra kill him. If you're lucky, she'll do Shooting Star Hit and kill him in one shot. If not, heal her between rounds. Ayra will then get the Skill Ring, which increases her Accuracy and the chances of Shooting Star Hit being activated. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- After killing Gandolf have Ayra, Azel, Mideel, Edin and Deu go into the forest to the left. Split them into groups so that Ayra is guarding Edin and Mideel, Azel and Deu are nearby. Soon, Jamuka will be forced to do battle with you. Wait till his army comes towards you. Kill of some with long distance attacks and have Edin quickly go near him. He will not attack Edin, but his men will, so be careful. -----------------------------Boss-Battle--------------------------------- Jamuka (able to join) LV: 5 HP: 35 Class: Bowman Guarding: Not guarding any castle Holy Blood: None Equipment: Killer Bow (E) Difficulty: **** Probably the hardest thing here is getting Edin to speak with him without getting killed. Have Edin speak to him then he will join! After that, finish off the remains of his army. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once done, put Ayra and Jamuka in the Arena. Then have a select few of your force, including Sigurd and Lex go north towards. Assemble your army at the bottom left side of the beach. Once Sigurd passes through the narrow strip in the forest, he will encounter Diadora, who will join your party. Have Lex go to the right to a peninsula. Once at the end of it, he will drop his Iron Axe and the Lady of the Lake will reward him with Hero Axe. After that, lure the small force guarding Verdane with a couple of characters, using trees nearby to increase their evasiveness. Defeat them all then have Diadora go and cast Silence on Sandima. The Silence Staff's range is 10 spaces so cast it from a distance. After that, bring Diadora, Sigurd and Azel to face Sandima. -----------------------------Boss-Battle--------------------------------- Sandima (cannot join) LV: 10 HP: 50 Class: Dark Mage Guarding: Verdane Holy Blood: None Equipment: Fenrir (E), Yotsmung, Magic Ring (I) Difficulty: * He is absolutely pathetic. When Silenced, he can't even retaliate...however, don't give him the chance. He's really powerful if he casts a spell. Weaken him using Sigurd's Silver Sword then have Azel try to kill him so that he can get the Magic ring. If the Silence wears off, have Diadora cast it again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- After the defeat of Sandima, put any characters through the arena to see if they can improve further, otherwise, have Sigurd conquer Verdane to finish the chapter. Just before King Batou dies, he explains to Sigurd that Sandima from the Dark Religion controlled him to taking over his country. Sigurd wonders more about this "dark religion" and what their motives are... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ <<>> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A few years have passed since the rescue of Edin. Sigurd has married Diadora and his army live happily in Evans castle. Hearing of the downfall of Sandima's scheme, many of Sandima's allies have assembled in castles near Nodion, the home of Eltoshan. Eltoshan, trying to avoid being invaded, travels to Agusty where he tries to negotiate but instead, gets himself captured. After hearing of recent events, Sigurd wields his sword again to save Eltoshan and the surrounding country. {Arena} 1 Jirou LV: 5 Axe Fighter Steel Axe - 2 Mahatma LV: 8 Fire Mage Elfire - 3 Lovin LV: 11 Spear Knight Steel Spear - 4 Backnun LV: 14 Sword Fighter Steel Sword - 5 Hertzog LV: 17 Armour Steel Spear - 6 Chekov LV: 20 Bolt Mage Elthunder Shield Ring 7 Holin LV: 12 Sword Fighter Iron Claymore - 7 Keimos LV: 23 Forest Steel Claymore - 1 Jirou LV: 5 Axe Fighter Hand Axe - 2 Mahatma LV: 8 Fire Mage Elfire - 3 Lovin LV: 11 Spear Knight Javelin - 4 Milley LV: 14 Bowman Steel Bow - 5 Hertzog LV: 17 Armour Javelin - 6 Chekov LV: 20 Bolt Mage Elthunder Shield Ring 7 Marilyn LV: 23 Sniper Silver Bow - {Shops} ~Weapon/Item~ ~Price~ Steel Claymore 6000 Steel Spear 3000 Steel Bow 3000 Thunder Spell 3000 {Recruitment} Lachesis - Have Sigurd talk to her. Have Adan go to the end of the beach to receive the Pursuit Ring, which gives the skill Next Attack to a character. -If Iv, Eva and Alva survive the WHOLE chapter, they will present Lachesis with the Knight Ring in the next chapter. -Conquer Harhien in no more than 11 turns to open up the chance to receive the Bargain ring. It is in the northwest village and should be rescued immediately once Harhien is conquered with someone on horseback or by Levin and Sylvia. -The southernmost village contains the Armour Cutter sword. First off, we're gonna get a character. Yes that's right, a character straight away! All you have to do is have someone complete the MELEE arena and you will receive the Swordsman Holin! If you're having trouble finishing the Arena, Ayra or Sigurd should be able to do it easily. Once Holin is now recruited, the last opponent will change in the Arena but that doesn't matter. With buying new items, have either Holin or Ayra obtain the Steel Claymore. Holin is probably better since Ayra can usually kill with Shooting Star. Finn should receive the Steel Spear and Mideel the Steel Bow. Give the Thunder Spell to Azel. After that, put everyone through the Arena. Once finished, there are two major concerns to consider before going out into battle. One is save Lachesis and two is obtaining the Bargain Ring. Of course this isn't necessary, but why would you miss out on a character and a good item? Okay then here we go... In turn 1, have everyone move his or her maximum range. Anphony will release its Bandits to destroy the villages and Elliot's army will come towards Nodion. Turn 2, Diadora MUST talk to Ethrin before she moves. Ethrin will receive the Light Sword, which will help in the following battles. After that, move everyone again to their maximum ranges. Sigurd and Cuan should be near the Deep Woods by now. After your phase, Elliot will try to attack Nodion. See those 3 green units guarding Nodion? They're allies and will try to defend Princess Lachesis who is guarding the castle. Although they are strong, they won't last very long and if you let them live throughout the whole chapter, you will get a very good ring in the next chapter. Have everyone again move towards Nodion. By now the mounted units should be a few squares away from the battle. You may even get in a few attacks if the enemy decides to attack you. It should be turn 4 by now. You must kill as many Hiline knights as possible. Plant Ethrin in the lone wood near Nodion and equip the Light Sword. Have Sigurd talk to Lachesis if possible. After your phase, if Sigurd was able to talk to Lachesis, the paladins Iv, Eva and Alva can assist you in defeating Elliot's army. After weakening some of Elliot's force, you can start planning for the defeat of Elliot himself. First, eliminate any remains of Elliot's army but save Ethrin, Mideel, Alec and Cuan for Elliot. -----------------------------Boss-Battle--------------------------------- Elliot (cannot join) LV: 15 HP: 55 Class: Duke Guarding: None Holy Blood: None Equipment: Silver Lance (E)(I) Difficulty: *** Elliot is reasonably difficult, but is easy when attacked from a distance. Have either Ethrin or Mideel weaken him from long range and if you think his HP is still too high, have Alec go for an attack as well. Then have Cuan finish him off to obtain the Silver Lance, which you should equip immediately. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- After that, have anyone else move near Phillip's army and bring out Lachesis to heal anyone. Keep her away from action though. You may have noticed that Deu can talk to Lachesis. In doing so, Lachesis receives the Thief Sword. They will also start to fall in love. This couple is not very good, so it's best not to initiate conversation...yet... It is now turn 6, and you must try to kill as many Hiline warriors from Phillip's army. Make sure you don't get killed, as your characters should be wearing down by now. The Bandits will now start to burn the villages. If Lachesis's paladins have at least 30 HP left, they can help immensely in tearing apart Phillip's force. Phillip's army is full of armoured warriors, so it could take a few turns to defeat them. The Long Arches are very annoying, but keep concentrating on the Armours. Sigurd and Cuan should try to break through the army, not help completely destroy it so that Sigurd can conquer Harhien much faster with backup from Cuan. -----------------------------Boss-Battle--------------------------------- Phillip (cannot join) LV: 18 HP: 58 Class: General Guarding: None Holy Blood: None Equipment: Silver Lance (E), Return Ring (I) Difficulty: *** Phillip, like Elliot, is pathetic when it comes to long range, so it's best weaken him that way. However, it is unlikely that Mideel, Azel or Ethrin are up to him yet, unless you've promoted them. He has high accuracy thanks to his Silver Spear and skill so Lex is a good unit to use against him. Otherwise use anyone to kill him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- After killing Phillip, keep rushing Harhien and only have Sigurd and Cuan go there. Have the rest of the army keep going north to Anphony. When Sigurd and Cuan approach Harhien, have Cuan immediately start sticking the boss inside, Boldo, with a Javelin. Sigurd should work to kill the three guards around the castle. If Sigurd and Cuan are getting beaten up too badly, have Ethrin and Lex assist them with the Light Sword and Hand Axe. Adan should be near Nodion by now. You may have noticed that there is a small strip of beach south of Harhien. Have Adan go there instead of going north to Anphony. -----------------------------Boss-Battle--------------------------------- Boldo (cannot join) LV: 14 HP: 54 Class: General Guarding: Harhien Holy Blood: None Equipment: Steel Claymore (E), Steel Bow, Barrier Ring (I) Difficulty: **** A little more difficult than the last General, Boldo has a long distance weapon, making him annoying when trying to weaken him. Trying to charge at him can be fatal as his attack power is 30, thanks to his sword. Having the Barrier Ring, makes him more resistant to Ethrin's Light Sword. So your best bet is to use Cuan to attack him with a Javelin and hopefully, Sigurd can finish him off with the Silver Sword. Then conquer Harhien. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hopefully, you conquered Harhien in under 11 turns. (I did it in 9!) All of the mounted units will be weakened very badly at this point, so heal with Ethrin and Lachesis while advancing north. With conversations, have Cuan talk to Finn so that Finn receives the almighty Hero Spear. Finn becomes a powerful character with this weapon so make sure you use him well. The ruler of Anphony, Macbeth, has sent two people, Beowulf and Voltz, to gather an army and has created a small force around Anphony in the process. There are three spear using units blocking your path before. They will run back to Anphony after this event. It is best to kill them before they get there. Meanwhile, on another part of the map, townsfolk have heard of the Bandits burning down the villages. Two travellers currently staying in one of the towns, has volunteered to rescue the surrounding villages. They are Levin and Sylvia. You can now save the Bargain Ring. The first village that the Bandits attacked cannot last much longer, so you must get someone there to save it. You have two options. Have someone on horseback go and save it or have Levin and Sylvia do it. The latter is much easier and preferred so have Levin go directly west, then have Sylvia go next to her and select the Dance option. With a new turn, have Levin keep going left. Voltz and Beowulf have now returned with a Freelancer army. They will start to make their way back to Anphony. In this time, block the pathway in between the two cliffs that goes to Anphony and take this time to recover all of your units to maximum health. All the other characters on foot should be nearing Harhien castle and Adan near the beach. Five flying units will appear at the end of the phase and will enter Agusty. Don't worry about this. Have Levin continue to try and save the village near the bargain ring and Sylvia attack the nearest Bandit. Take the time to heal everyone to max health before Voltz starts to attack you. Keep Lachesis FAR away from the action so that the 3 Paladins do not die. If Voltz starts attacking you too soon, retreat a little so that the units on foot meet up with you. Levin should have saved the village by now, but don't let him or Sylvia visit any of the villages. Have him rescue the other villages along with Sylvia dancing him, since her attack power is so weak. Adan should now be at the beach. Let him go to the end of it and he will find an ancient trinket. It is the Pursuit Ring, which is a very helpful item if someone is lacking the Next Attack skill. After Adan gains the Pursuit Ring, have him travel back to Evans Castle. Once the battle against Voltz has started, immediately get someone who has 10000 gold ready to talk to Beowulf. -----------------------------Boss-Battle--------------------------------- Beowulf (able to join) LV: 9 HP: 38 Class: Freelancer Guarding: None Holy Blood: None Equipment: Steel Sword Difficulty: ** If you wish you can kill him...but he is able to join! Just have someone bribe him with 10000 gold and he's yours! Plus, the money doesn't get wasted as it goes to him. Mind you, Beowulf is probably the FIRST thing you should do, because there are so many enemies here, you don't want him to attack you. Small note that Beowulf has a "suicidal" AI. He tends to think he is superman or something and battles your stronger units. Just be careful when sending units like Sigurd up or else all you'll get is a dead Beowulf. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- After persuading Beowulf, have him attack one of the Freelancers and let him run. Next on the agenda is Voltz. However, you might want to kill a few Freelancers before taking on Voltz to gain experience as he is no pushover. -----------------------------Boss-Battle--------------------------------- Voltz (cannot join) LV: 20 HP: 60 Class: Forest Knight Guarding: None Holy Blood: None Equipment: Steel Claymore (E), Elite Ring (I) Difficulty: ***** Voltz is powerful. He has a strong sword, is mounted, promoted to a Forest Knight and has high HP as well. Weaker characters can be killed in one round against him because he has the Continue skill. Ayra might be able to kill him, that is if she does Shooting Star. Otherwise you want Finn to take the Elite Ring he is holding. Have Jamuka and Ethrin weaken him at long range the go in with Finn to kill him and claim the Elite Ring. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- After killing Voltz, eliminate the rest of his army. Levin should have by now, killed all of the Bandit so have him and Sylvia go and meet up with Sigurd. Have all your healers go around healing everyone. Once Levin and Sylvia get to the main group, have Sigurd talk to Levin if you want and have everyone except Finn, Sigurd, Edin and Beowulf go back around to Nodion as there soon will be an attack there. Finn should be at least at LV 10 by now. If not, it doesn't matter as the Elite Ring will compensate for that. Have Finn try to get into the small clump of trees next to Anphony to increase his evasion as the Armours around the castle carry axes and Finn is weak against them. If that strategy fails, have Finn lure them out the have both he and Sigurd kill all of them. Edin should now collect the Bargain Ring at the northernmost village and Beowulf collect the Armour Cutter in the southernmost village. Then let them head back to Nodion with the others. Have Levin go back to Evans along with Azel and either Mideel or Jamuka. Adan should be already there by now. Let him guard the castle while Mideel/Jamuka, Azel and Levin are outside it. Visit all the other villages if you wish. Once all the preparations are finished, get ready to attack Anphony. -----------------------------Boss-Battle--------------------------------- Macbeth (cannot join) LV: 22 HP: 62 Class: General Guarding: Anphony Holy Blood: None Equipment: Steel Spear (E), Javelin, Shield Ring (I) Difficulty: **** A little more powerful than the other Generals you have faced, Macbeth has high defence due to the Shield Ring. It might be wise to have Azel so that he can claim the ring, since Macbeth's magic defence is low. Or have Beowulf hurt him greatly with the Armour Cutter. Be careful as Macbeth skill Big Shield kicks in often, negating any attack. Other than that, have Finn team up Sigurd to kill him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Before you conquer Anphony, have Edin visit the villages to let her gain money along with anyone who is in need of cash. Then assemble near Nodion, remembering to keep Lachesis away from rest of them. Have all the new characters fight in the Arena. THEN have Sigurd conquer the castle. In response to the downfall of Anphony, both Mackily and Agusty will respond with a MASSIVE ARMY. Well it's not really an army, just lots of groups of enemies. To top it all off, Shagall of Agusty has tricked the Pegasus Knight Fury, to conquering your castle! That's why there are a few units guarding Evans. Three new conversations can now be done. The first, Alec and Sylvia should be avoided. It makes them start to fall in love, but it isn't a good couple. The next is Sylvia talk to Sigurd. Do this if you want, it's just a small chat. The last and most important is the talk to Beowulf and Lachesis. This one is recommended, as it is quite a safe couple to pair, but produce average children. Once the talk with Beowulf and Lachesis is done, have Deu talk to her so that she receives the Thief Sword. This way, Lachesis doesn't fall in love with Deu, but instead falls in love with Beowulf. The first army you will encounter is FULL of Sword Fighters! They are deadly and come with a few archers and fire mages for support. You need to lure them back if you want to separate them from Mackily. Beowulf is ideal for this. Be very careful when fighting them, but the army you just gathered near Nodion should be more than enough for them. Finn should fight the majority of battles here, as his Hero Spear is great against the Sword Fighters. After disposing of the Sword Fighter army, have Lachesis heal everyone to gain experience. Have no one budge from their spot as army two is coming up. Finn should now be at LV 20, thanks to the Elite Ring. If he is, have Edin or Ethrin use the Warp/Return Staff on him and let him promote to a Duke. After he's promoted, have him sell his Elite Ring. If he isn't at LV 20, keep him a little longer. This is ESSENTIAL...you'll find out why soon. The next army only consists of only 4 Spear Knights and one Duke. Pathetically easy to beat; use someone who needs to gain experience. The last army to charge you is exactly the same as the one above except it consists of Social Knights and a Paladin. Use the same tactic against them as you did with the other small group. Soon, Fury and her squad will near Evans. Do not move Adan out of the guard status. Mideel, Jamuka and Azel must kill the Pegasus Knights around Fury while Levin tries to talk to Fury. -----------------------------Boss-Battle--------------------------------- Fury (able to join) LV: 6 HP: 32 Class: Pegasus Knight Guarding: None Holy Blood: None Equipment: Small Spear (E) Difficulty: ** Although not too difficult to kill, you wouldn't dare kill a new character...would you? It doesn't matter. Have Levin cautiously talk to Fury. If he is successful, Fury will join the party! If Levin talks to Fury before anyone from her squad attack you, they will retreat back to their homeland, saving any casualties. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- After the defeat of the Fury Squad, have everyone near Evans regroup with the main force. By now Finn MUST have reached LV20 so promote him. If you want someone to LV up faster, let him or her buy the Elite Ring. However, it costs 40000 to buy, so unless a character has that much money, it's best to leave it in the Pawn Shop. Let Fury visit one of the castles and if Alec hasn't sold it yet, have Fury buy his Iron Sword. Put her through the Arena to gain levels. Let Fury talk to Sigurd if you want. Have her equip it and get just next to the range of the Long Arches. Put Diadora just out of range of the Long Arches too. First, try and get Fury to kill the Long Arches by using the Deep Woods as cover. If that doesn't prove enough, then you have no choice but to rush the arches with everyone, while healing as you go. The boss of Mackily, Clement, has the annoying Sleep Staff, which can be used at a distance of 10 spaces. If a character is inflicted with the Sleep Status, then you have no choice but to wait until it wears off. To counter the Sleep Staff, have Diadora use the Silence Staff against him. Then get ready to quickly kill him. -----------------------------Boss-Battle--------------------------------- Clement (cannot join) LV: 18 HP: 53 Class: Bishop Guarding: Mackily Holy Blood: None Equipment: Thunder (E), Sleep Staff (I) Difficulty: * Clement isn't hard, just plain annoying. His Sleep Staff is nothing to be worried about so he's only armed with the Thunder Spell, and even this won't be a problem if Diadora silenced him earlier. His defence is a puny 4 so kill him with a melee attack. However, it is best that Edin kills him so that she can claim the Sleep Staff. However, Edin needs to be promoted for this to happen. Otherwise, have anyone kill him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Do the usual, fight anyone in the arena, heal everyone then have Sigurd conquer Mackily. Also make sure that Cuan sells his Javelin to Fury. If Edin hasn't done so yet, have her buy the Sleep Staff if she was unable to kill Clement. Leave Lachesis near Nodion so that the Paladins stay out of harm. Shagall, now all alone, sends out Zain and his army do dispose of you. His army is BIG, along with archers and healers and all of them are mounted, making it hard to use the hit-and-run tactic. Assemble your force around Mackily and have Fury go up to the villages on the left. The idea is to have Fury weaken them with the Javelin without getting hit so that your army can finish them off when they arrive at Mackily. Put Fury way up north near Zains army, on the land that the villages are on and DO NOT go near to the edge of the cliff. In doing so, they will charge and waste a good opportunity. Be always one space behind them. Have Fury go up to the Arch Knights, and use a Javelin on the Axe Knight behind them. Then have Fury retreat back to the land with villages. They won't do anything so take your time. Dispose of the Arch Knights using the Small Spear. Fury should have now disposed of four units, and that's all she can kill without making the army charge. So have her poke the next units, which should be Lance Knights, with the Javelin. Then have her retreat back. This time, Fury cannot make it past the ledge. She will be on it instead. Have her switch to the Small Spear before ending her turn. The Lance Knight will retaliate and attack Fury. Then the whole army will start to move...towards Fury! As long as Fury doesn't move down on the pathway, they won't charge Mackily!!! So Fury can kill to her hearts content. You can also try to weaken Zain if you want, but she is more than likely to get killed. However, if Fury DID trigger them to charge Mackily, have her fly in and try to kill the Troubadours then fly back over the cliff. You will weaken them and once they reach your main army, they will stand little chance. Zain, however, is powerful so be cautious. -----------------------------Boss-Battle--------------------------------- Zain (cannot join) LV: 21 HP: 61 Class: Duke Guarding: None Holy Blood: None Equipment: Killer Lance (E) (I), Javelin Difficulty: **** Do not use a mounted unit against him! Even Sigurd! He has the Killer Lance which critical hits against all mounted units. So weaken him with magic attacks. Levin and Ethrin and Azel are best here, as the Javelin won't do too much damage to them. After that, have Finn or Fury kill him to claim their Killer Lance. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Finish off the rest of his army. Then have Holin, Ayra, Sigurd, Edin and Ethrin go up to Agusty. There will be some armours here, but Holin and Ayra can tear em up pretty easily. The long arches are a pest so keep healing with Edin and Ethrin. After defeating all the Long Arches, heal everyone and get ready for the final boss of the chapter. :) -----------------------------Boss-Battle--------------------------------- Shagall (cannot join) LV: 10 HP: 55 Class: Baron Guarding: Agusty Holy Blood: None Equipment: Silver Claymore (E), Libro Staff (I) Difficulty: ** He isn't that difficult. His attack power is the only thing to worry about, so have Holin go in and see if he does Moonlight Hit. Otherwise, use Ayra. Have Edin try to kill him so that she doesn't have to buy the Libro Staff from someone else. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- After a LONG chapter, heal anyone for extra experience points then have Sigurd conquer Agusty. Eltoshan will be relased by Sigurd and the two will talk. If all the Paladins guarding Lachesis survived, they will now present her with the Knight Ring, a very good accessory that you should sell to Ayra. Then they will leave. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ <<>> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Shagall, having recently lost Agusty to Sigurd, retreats with a bad wound to Masino Castle. Edin should visit this village. -The village just northeast of the big forest can increase a character's strength by 3. -The Wing Clipper is contained in the village northeast of Masino Castle. Beowulf should visit here. -If Deu visits Bragi Tower, he will get the Wind Sword. -A lone village rests just above Silvall Castle. It gives the character who visits there +3 to Defence. This is a big map with lots of enemies. While they are not too strong, they will gang up on one character and keep hacking away at them until they're dead. Also, Ograhill Pirates have been dispatched to raid all the villages except the very northernmost one, which at the moment you cannot get to. In the beginning, Diadora cannot leave the castle because she has to take care of her son, Selis. Have her sell her Silence Staff to Edin and let her sell her Aura Spell if you wish. Then have her transfer her money to Sigurd. With the Item Shop, the weapons here are powerful. Choosing the right character is essential. The Silver Sword is best used with Beowulf, but that's only possible if he is promoted. Otherwise, let Ethrin have it. The Silver Spear should be given to Finn and let Finn sell his Hero Spear to Fury. The Silver Axe obviously goes with Lex, and the Silver Bow given to Jamuka or Mideel if he is promoted. Elfire goes with Azel. Put everyone through the arena and make sure that all the staffs you got from the last chapter are given to Edin. After finishing that, time to organise the battle. To the left is a small troop of Lance Knights lead by a Duke. Send a few people there to kill them, preferably Lex, Cuan and Finn there. This will be much easier if Finn is promoted. To the right of Agusty are some Armours. Ayra, Holin, Jamuka and Mideel should be able to take care of them easily. Send Fury and Beowulf to save the villages and have Levin and Azel take care of the mages in the forest. Have everyone else meet the army near Masino Castle. Before taking Lex/Holin out, have Ayra get out first then have Lex/Holin talk to her to receive the Hero Sword. Also whoever talked will start to fall in love with Ayra. Both have the potential to produce extremely powerful couples so choose whomever. After deploying everyone, cautiously engage in combat with the enemies. Be careful as the Arch Knights will weaken you with their arrows and they will prey on the weakest of your units. Have Fury go to the upper left villages, avoiding the mages along the way and have Beowulf go around to saving the villages to the right. Don't visit any of the villages yet though. After disposing of the Pirates and the enemy units, heal everyone up and send Edin to the rightmost village to gain the Restore Staff. The village a little above Masino castle to the right contains the Wing Clipper. Fury should visit here, as you will be using this new sword very soon. The village to the top right of the forest can increase a character's strength. Fury is recommended to get this small stat boost. After that, have characters you will be using a lot visit the villages. Edin's staffs should be near breaking point here, so if you want, let her visit any remaining villages. Heal everyone for cheap experience and get ready to battle Shagobn. -----------------------------Boss-Battle--------------------------------- Shagobn (cannot join) LV: 20 HP: 60 Class: Forest Guarding: Masino Holy Blood: None Equipment: Thunder Sword (E) (I) Difficulty: *** Shagoban is not too difficult to kill as he only has one weapon...and what a good weapon it is! The Thunder Sword he has enables him to cast Thunder at long range so be careful if you have anyone at the sides or back of Masino Castle. Levin can kill him very easily with Elwind as it gets a bonus against Shagobn's sword. But try to have Holin kill him so that he can claim the sword. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- After killing him, assemble all of your units except Sigurd at the front of Agusty Castle. Make sure Lachesis and Sylvia are close to each other. Plant Fury near the northwestern part of the map. You wont be ablt to fly all the way to the edge of the screen so go as far as the game lets you. Battle in the arena if you wish then have Sigurd conquer Masino. Two new characters will now enter Masino. Sigurd greets them and recognises one of them as High Priest Claude. He has come to Sigurd to ask about the current situation and the fate of Agustria. Along him, he has brought Tiltyu, an optimistic young girl. Cluade and Tiltyu then heads to Bragi Tower after their conversation with Sigurd. Hearing of Sigurd's victory, Diadora wishes to go and meet Sigurd. She entrusts her son Selis to Shannan's care and heads out of Agusty. No sooner than she just goes outside, a Dark Mage appears in front of her. The mage casts a spell on Diadora and warps himself and her somewhere else. Meanwhile, Shannan starts horrified at the scene he just saw... Shagall has finally convinced Eltoshan to fight Sigurd for the damage he's done. Eltoshan agrees and says it must be done. He then launches a full attack on Agusty with his Cross Knight army. Shagall will in a few turns time, convince a small army of Thracia to help him out. 7 Dragon Riders and a Dragon Knight will come out of the north-west screen and will advance towards Agusty. Wait a few turns for Eltoshan's army to come towards you. When they are in range, have your most durable mounted units go into battle. Lachesis must try to talk to her brother, Eltoshan. This is easily done if she's promoted, but if she's not, move her then have Sylvia dance her. She should have enough movement to reach Eltoshan and talk to him to gain the Earth Sword. -----------------------------Boss-Battle--------------------------------- Eltoshan (cannot join) LV: 25 HP: 65 Class: Paladin Guarding: None Holy Blood: Hezul (strong) Equipment: Mistortin (E) Difficulty: ******** Uhh, you DO NOT want to battle this guy. His sword, the Mistortin gives ridiculous stat boosts to his already high stats and gives him the Berserk skill. Have Lachesis talk to him as stated above so that he returns to Silvall and gives his sister the Earth Sword. But if for some crazy reason you want to kill him...all I have to say is good luck. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Eltoshan will return back to Silvall. But you still have to dispose of his army of Cross Knights. Be careful, as they like to poke you with their Javelins. Defeat them and heal everyone. Sooner or later, the Thracia Knights will start to attack. Fury should be there to intercept them with the Wing Clipper. Equip it and stay out of their attacking range. If you think your Fury is too weak, wait until they come near to your army then let em have it. If you do decide for Fury to fight them alone, you want to be the one to make the first move. When you do try to attack them, try to kill their leader Papilon first. -----------------------------Boss-Battle--------------------------------- Papilon (cannot join) LV: 20 HP: 60 Class: Dragon Knight Guarding: None Holy Blood: None Equipment: Steel Sword (E), Live Ring (I) Difficulty: *** His strength is mediocre but the Live Ring he has lets him restore HP every turn. I doubt Fury will kill him in one battle even with the Wing Clipper unless she is already promoted. If the Wing Clipper doesn't work, try the Hero Spear and if THAT doesn't work, the only thing you can do is lure them towards your army. :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- After disposing of the Dragons, plant Fury back near the Bragi Tower. Time to advance on Silvall. Use whoever you like as the enemies are quite weak, so I suggest using your weaker characters killing them. The village just above Silvall increases a character's defence by 1 so choose anyone you like to receive this. After that, get ready to finally defeat Shagall once and for all. -----------------------------Boss-Battle--------------------------------- Shagall (cannot join) LV: 25 HP: 70 Class: Baron Guarding: Silvall Holy Blood: None Equipment: Silver Claymore (E)(I), Bolgan Difficulty: **** This guy has some serious firepower. Possessing a Silver Claymore AND the mighty Bolgan fire spell, he can take off as much as 25+ in one hit! Only attack him at long range with your mages, preferably Azel or Levin with Thunder since they have high magic defence. Attacking him with Holin is a great idea as if Holin activates Moonlight Hit, then it will be an easy battle plus he gets the Silver Claymore. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- After disposing of Shagall, adjust everyone's equipment, repairing and/or trading the weapons/items if necessary. Try to fight in the in the arena with the characters that couldn't make it up to Battle 8 to see if they can advance any further. Have Fury give back the Wing Clipper to Beowulf and let her get a good sword. ! INVENTORY CHECK ! Ah...since you have now a pretty collection of weapons/items, I thought that it would be good to see what characters should at least have. Sigurd - Silver Sword, Iron Spear Noich - Steel Sword, Iron Spear Alec - Steel Sword, Javelin Adan - Iron Sword, Small Sword, Pursuit Ring Azel - Fire, Thunder, Elfire Lex - Iron Axe, Steel Axe, Hand Axe, Hero Axe, Silver Axe Cuan - Steel Spear, Silver Spear Finn - Iron Spear, Steel Spear, Silver Spear (promoted) Ethrin - Small Sword, Live Staff, Return Staff, Light Sword Mideel - Iron Bow, Steel Bow Edin - Relive Staff, Warp Staff, Barter Ring, Libro Staff, Silence Staff, Sleep Staff, Restore Staff Deu - Iron Sword Ayra - Iron Claymore, Hero Sword, Skill Ring Jamuka - Killer Bow, Silver Bow Holin - Iron Claymore, Silver Claymore, Thunder Sword Lachesis - Prayer Sword, Thief Sword, Earth Sword, Live Staff Levin - Elwind Sylvia - Small Sword Beowulf - Steel Sword, Wing Clipper, Armour Cutter Fury - Hero Spear, Javelin, Killer Lance, Live Ring, Iron Sword Spare Items - Barrier Ring, Silver Sword, Small Spear, Elite Ring, Knight Ring This is just a guide to what the characters *should* have, so that they can use their skills easily. Swapping them is a good idea however, so if you want, modify them so that it suits your needs. ! END INVENTORY CHECK ! After doing all the usual check-equipment-before-conquering-castle stuff, have everyone assemble at the northernmost peninsula, with Cuan at the very tip with Ethrin next to him. Edin should be close as well. After that, have Sigurd conquer Silvall. After Sigurd enters Silvall, Oifaye says that Shannan has come to see him. Wondering why, Sigurd asks Oifaye to send him in. Crying, Shannan explains how Diadora left Agusty and never came back. Reassuring Shannan Sigurd says that he'll find Diadora and entrusts his baby son Selis to Shannan's care. After the above sequence, have Ethrin instantly talk to Cuan. He will now receive the legendary spear Geyborg. End the phase. The scene shifts to Ogrehill and the pirates create a mutiny against their leader, Bridget. Having no other choice but to flee, Bridget runs in the direction of Blagi Tower. At the same time, Tiltyu and Claude exit Blagi Tower. Tiltyu explains to Claude that they'll be slaughtered if they stay. And so, they head towards the narrow strips of beach. The pirates will now launch an army, and two of them will attack Bridget with Hand Axes. She may take some hits but she will kill them in one round. Meanwhile, Pisar's forces will go towards Cuan, but if he has the Geyborg equipped, then they will dare not attack him! As soon as you take control again, go the upper left side of the map and have Fury assist Tiltyu and Claude fight off the Pirates. Beware as although Tiltyu has very powerful magic, she has weak defence along with Claude. Cuan should annihilate the pirate in front of him, and then with the new space provided, slowly use your mounted units to come in and attack the next pirate on the bridge then retreat. Having the Light/Earth Sword along with magic helps as the pirates have a measly 1 magic defence point. Now you can EITHER make Bridget retreat to the nearby village OR go and try to assist your main army! Yes the latter is very dangerous, but if you can get Edin to talk to her, she will receive the legendary bow Ichival! Fury should equip a sword so that she gets a bonus over the axe wielding pirates and Tiltyu can absolutely destroy any other pirates with her Tron magic. Sooner or later, your gonna battle that ugly pirate Pisar. -----------------------------Boss-Battle--------------------------------- Pisar (cannot join) LV: 20 HP: 60 Class: Warrior Guarding: None Holy Blood: None Equipment: Silver Axe (E), Leg Ring (I) Difficulty: *** With an attack power of 39, Pisar can do massive damage to those who are battling him at melee range. He is very easily defeated, however, with magic attacks, so send in anyone who has a long-range attack to defeat him. He drops the Leg Ring, a fantastic items that increases a characters movement by 3. Let Ayra defeat him so that she can claim this. If Pisar's HP gets low and you leave him, he will retreat back to Ograhill and produce another army of pirates plus he will have full HP again! You can use this to your advantage by weakening him and letting him call more pirates for some easy EXP. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- With Ogrhill phase, a pirate will start to raid the last village. Many Swordfighters, Hunters and Pirates will follow Bridget's retreat, so she won't last long unless your main army can break through Pisar's force or if Tiltyu/Claude/Fury can assist her. Don't have anyone near the last village liberate it yet; things are too hectic to waste a single turn. By now, you should have destroyed Pisar's army in 3 phases or else it'll be hard to have Bridget survive. Tiltyu and Claude should be halfway along the beach now and Fury should be slicing away with her sword at any strays. By turn 4, if you made Bridget retreat in the direction of Blagi Tower, the army chasing her should've reached the village by now. You can either have Bridget hide in the little spot just southeast of the village and have her camp there until Fury/Tiltyu/Claude arrives or have her continue on to rendezvous with them. If Ayra has the Leg Ring, she can dash over towards Bridget and protect her. Slowly kill of the remains of the pirates and watch out for Hunters; they can kill Fury in one or two shots. As soon as Claude is 10 spaces from Bridget, have him cast his Reserve Staff to heal everyone around him. Beware as he'll go down with two axe attacks. Soon enough, you will endure the numerous attacks and will be able to finish off any remains of the pirate army. Save the last town for some money and do any necessary conversations. Make sure that Edin talks to Bridget if you haven't done so. The conversation with Mideel and Bridget, although pretty funny, will make them fall in love but I'd advice against it as there are better matches for Bridget. Once done with the talking, have Deu visit Blagi Tower to get in trouble and find a Wind Sword. Deu benefits nicely with this sword, although Fury could use it better. ************************************************************************* {{{{ 7.Stat Attributes, Levelling and Promotions}}}} ************************************************************************* Fire Emblem 4 uses a status system just like previous FE's. In increases with skill and the equipped weapons hit percentage. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <<>> How well you are able to avoid an attack. Increased with speed and luck, decreased with weapon weight. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- I personally think that strength/magic (depending on your character), speed and magic defence are the most important followed by skill, defence then finally luck. Strength and magic is vital if you don't want to take 1HP damage every time you attack and since so many enemies use magic, magic defence is the way to go. In regards to levelling up, the first and most obvious way is to hit or defeat an enemy. The second is using a magic staff. Last of all is using the Dance or Give command. Using Dance or Give always gives out 10 EXP. Promotions or class changing are very easy. Level up to 20 then go back to your main castle and select the "rook" icon. You will be asked if you wish to promote a character, the simply select yes to undergo the process. Note that not all characters can change their class. When a character is promoted, they get a ton of extra stats and also may be able to use items that they couldn't before. ************************************************************************* {{{{ 8.Characters }}}} ************************************************************************* Fire Emblem 4 has a grand total host of get this...49, yes 49!!! playable characters!!! All have their own personalities and battle skills. In addition, units who were siblings and lovers can work together to perform crazy attacks! Some units are complete powerhouses and some are plain duds. Fear not, all characters have a use, it's just some are better than others :P Regarding to the children, if any females didn't have kids, they will be replaced with their sub-units. Sub-units are very weak and inferior to the "real characters" (there are a few exceptions), and should be avoided at all costs. However, if you add the sub-units along with the character total, it then makes a final total of 63 characters! The stat growths are the characters own growth rates. Any extras such as having Holy Blood will need to be added to them to get the correct growth rate. The children will not have a growth rate since they change every time. Also for the kids, I am basing them generally. So don't come complaining to me when I say Lachke is heaps good and you have a crap one...if that is even possible :S 1st half of the game... <<>> Background: The main character of the game, Sigurd, is the lord of Chalphy. Now possessing even higher speed than her mother, Lakche has the potential to max out at least Speed and Luck! Her defence is good and her strength is above average and she has Shooting Star! However, like her brother, her magic and magic defence is very weak. Skills: Next Attack, Alertness, Shooting Star Hit, Continue (promoted) and whatever her father had. Rating: A+ Recommended Weapons: Steel/Silver Claymore, Hero Sword Recruitment: Start off with her in Chapter 6. These new characters can be used in the second half of the game and will inherit anything that the mother and father had. Note that other couples are "pre-determined" or in other words, are much easier to pair than other couples. Difficulty is how hard it is to obtain that couple. Also there are two couples that CANNOT be changed, namely Sigurd and Diadora, Cuan and Ethrin. This guide goes by mentioning the woman first then showing all possible mates for her. Also, if anyone has any more couples (I'm missing a lot...) please email me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Storyline Pairs: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Couple: Sigurd and Diadora Children: Selis Information: The only couple in the game where two parents have one kid! Oh and if anyone was wondering what about Yuria, she's Selis' half brother. Selis is perfect just the way he is so there's no need to change him...apart from the fact that you can't. Battle skills: Selis inherits both Next Attack from Sigurd and Awareness from Diadora so he has pretty useful skills. His stats are more powerful now thanks to Diadora's high magic stats and can hold out on his own. Difficulty: Easy. You don't have to do a thing. It's part of the story :P Rating: A Couple: Cuan and Ethrin Children: Leif and Altena Information: While away from the battle after seeing Sigurd raise a mighty army, Cuan and Ethrin return back to Lenster. In this time, Ethrin gives birth to Prince Lief and Dragon Knight Altena. Battle skills: Difficulty: Just like Sigurd and Diadora, it's part of the story. Rating: A ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Non-Compulsory Pairs: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <<>> Children: Lester and Rana Information: Edin will give birth to the useful hit-and-run archer unit Mideel and the Priest Rana. Both can be useful but one usually tends to out shadow the other depending on the father. Since Edin has no skills, she needs a mate who has plenty. Couple: Edin and Mideel Lester: Lester is weak and not too good once you get him. However just like Mideel he increases in usefulness once his level goes up. Behaving just like Mideel except Lester is a bit stronger, this is one of the best couples for Lester. Skills: Next Attack, Charge Rana: Rana is a pretty good healer with this couple, getting decent defence from Mideel and good Magic ratings from Edin. She performs better than her mother thanks to this and can be a good fighter from the skills she inherits. Skills: Next Attack, Charge Rating: B+ (Both characters are reasonably good) Difficulty: Easy. Have Mideel talk to Edin in Chapter 1 and keep them together. Couple: Edin and Jamuka Lester: Lester is stronger, has much more strength and increases in usefulness once his level goes up. Another one of the best couples for Lester. Oh by the way, give Lester a Killer Bow and watch as he kills Dragon Knights without breaking a sweat. Skills: Next Attack, Charge Rana: Rana is a pretty good healer with this couple, getting decent defence from Jamuka and good Magic ratings from Edin, some Power :) and Speed from Jamuka, but has less Magic defense, but hey, you're not gonna send her to the front line anyway, right? Skills: Next Attack, Charge Rating: B (Both characters are reasonably good) Difficulty: Normal. Have Edin talk to Jamuka to receive a Hero bow, then have Jamuka and Edin together in chapter 4. Couple: Edin and Azel Lester: Uhh...Lester is crap. That's all I have to say. He has an alright Attack and Defence growth but other than that he's not very good. He does get high magic but he can't use any spells. But he does benefit from the high Speed and Luck from Azel and Edin. Skills: Next Attack Rana: Rana is powerful. Very powerful. She inherits the ability to use Elfire and also inherits Azel's Next Attack, letting her perform two attacks in a row! Rana has a very high magic attack now so she becomes one of the most powerful units in your party. Plus high Speed and Luck... Skills: Next Attack Rating: B (Do this if you want a POWERFUL magic user and healer) Difficulty: Easy. Have Azel talk to Edin in Chapter 1 and keep them together. Couple: Edin and Claude Lester: Lester is even worse than the Edin and Azel pairing! His strength will be extremely low and will get NO SKILLS WHATSOEVER, making him having no chance to kill someone. He does, however, get high magic defence. Also he doesn't get to use the Valkyrie Staff. Skills: None Rana: Rana now becomes a blessing. She's an extremely useful healer but still can't attack very well. Her high magic and magic defence makes up for that. All other stats are below average. Skills: None Rating: C+ (Good if you want a powerful healer, Lester is plain bad) Difficulty: This one is hard. Having only Chapters 3, 4 and 5 to make them fall in love, keep them together at all costs. If you're daring, class Edin up and let them fight near each other. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ <<>> Children: Lakche and Sukasha Information: Ayra's children is Lakche and Sukasha, both are swordfighters. They probably one of the best characters in the second generation with Shooting star hit, Awareness and Continue, so choose carefully. Couple: Ayra and Holin Lakche: Have the majority blood of Odo, boy the children is kickass. Almost max Skill and Speed. Ayra gives the Hero sword to Lakche and watch her wipe away an entire army. But aside from that, Magic defense doesn't rise much, make it harder verse Mages, but who cares when you have Hero sword, Speed Ring and Max Speed, right? You can even take on Yurius with this. Skills: Next Attack, Moonlight Hit, Shooting Star Hit, Awareness Continue (promoted) Sukasha: Being Lackes sister means major power and speed. Having basically the same stats as her sister except he gains more defense and less speed. If you have a second Hero Sword, give it to him. And just like Lakche, stay away from Mages. Skills: Next Attack, Moonlight Hit, Shooting Star Hit, Awareness Rating: A (Nuff Said) Difficulty: This one is easy, just let Holin give Ayra a Hero sword in Chapter 3, and make them stay together. Couple: Ayra and Lex Lakche: High Strength, Skill and Defense, but speed is not-so-high, and lack of Magic defense as always, but the high Defense will make up for it. And Elite, YES! You know what, you can class change Lakche at the beginning of Chapter 7! With Blocking and Next Attack, she can finish the enemy before they could Attack. Skills: Next Attack, Shooting Star Hit, Awareness, Elite, Blocking, Continue (promoted) (6 skills!!! :O) Sukasha: Sukasha is now even more durable than Lackhe! Possessing HIGH defense, will let him tear up anyone without the probability of dying in a long time. But as with the low magic defense, it's even worse than the Ayra and Holin couple. Rating: A- (More durable children than the one above) Difficulty: This one is easy, just let Holin give Ayra a Hero sword in Chapter 3, and make them stay together. ************************************************************************* {{{{ 10. Skill Guide }}}} ************************************************************************* The characters would be pretty much the same if they didn't have skills. Skills are various techniques that can be deployed automatically in battle or used on the field. Usually they start off with the skills but sometimes, particular weapons can have them. <<>> Icon: A green shield in a red background. Description: Blocks some attacks by the enemy. A dam good skill, except it doesn't kick in very often and only 2 characters get to use it. Rating: B+ <<>> Icon: A yellow lightning bolt. Description: Critical hits when HP is under half. A very good skill. This makes any character a powerhouse except it's pretty dangerous letting someone run around with half their HP. Rating: A- <<>> Icon: 3 arrows pointing left. Description: If lighter than the enemy, hit again. A LOT of characters have this skill and why shouldn't they? Let's em hit twice in a row. Much easier to activate than Continue. Rating: B+ <<>> Icon: One big arrow pointing left. Description: If your faster than the enemy, hit again! Basically the same as Next Attack except you need higher speed than the enemy. Harder to activate than Next Attack. Rating: B- <<>> Icon: A moneybag. Description: Steal gold if you achieve a hit. A cheap way to get money, it helps repairing and buying weapons. Rating: B <<>> Icon: A person waving a string thingy. Description: Allies in proximity can take action again. The range is one so a maximum of 4 characters can benefit from this skill. Only dancers can use this and it's one of the most useful skills in the game. Rating: A+ <<>> Icon: A person under a star surrounded by a blue aura. Description: An extra 10% accuracy gain to allies around the character. Has the same range as Dance, and is helpful for assaulting castles. But other than that, not much use. Rating: B- <<>> Icon: An eye...that's it. Description: ALL critical hits will miss you AND prevents skills being used!!! I love this skill!!! Useful for enemies that have the Wrath or Berserk Skill, this is a very underestimated skill. Pass it on to a flying unit and have archers beg for mercy. :D Rating: A+ <<>> Icon: A star. Description: When your HP is REALLY low (5HP and under to be exact) evade increases. A ridiculously useful skill, this practically makes every attack miss!!! But it's hard to get to low HP without being killed... Rating: B <<>> Icon: An explosion consisting of lines on a red background. Description: Let's you critical hit. Hell, this skill is deadly! Have a character increase their skill and POW, instant powerhouse. Rating: A <<>> Icon: An arrow pointing to a dot. Description: I really don't find this skill useful. Let's a character attack first once under half HP. Only a handful of characters learn it and if you miss or don't kill the enemy, your most likely to be killed. However it is deadly when paired with Wrath. Rating: C <<>> Icon: Two arrows clashing together. Description: Works like a double-edged sword. Gives another round of combat. You might finish an enemy off or they might finish you off! Rating: C <<>> Icon: A sword on a green background. Description: One of the skills from the "hit" family, this is probably the most powerful skill there is. Depending on how high your skill is, Shooting Star Hit let's you attack 5 times!!! YES 5!!! Pair it up with Continue, Next Attack and Charge and have the ultimate powerhouse! Rating: A+ <<>> Icon: A sword on a blue background. Description: Less useful than Shooting Star but still a good skill. It IGNORES defence! That's great! And since many enemies have high defence ratings, it makes the skill even more useful. Rating: A <<>> Icon: A sword on an orange background. Description: The last of the hits and unfortunately it's the least useful. But despite saying that, it's much more useful compared to other skills! When activated, every successful hit to the enemy will restore HP equivalent to the damage done. Rating: A- <<>> Icon: A green sparkle/flash against a green (O_o) background. Description: As far as I know, NO ONE HAS THIS. It can only be obtained with 3 items. Other than that, it heals 5-10HP every turn. Saves on staff use. Rating: B <<>> Icon: A person with sparkles and a blue background. Description: Receive 2x EXP. Do I need explain more? Rating: A+ <<>> Icon: A percentage with an arrow pointing down. Description: Gets a 50% purchasing discount. Good for units who need to repair/buy a lot of stuff but other than that, bleh. Rating: B- ************************************************************************* {{{{ 11.Equipment Guide }}}} ************************************************************************* OK. This is a list that I wish you did not copy without my permission. The ability characters have to equip weapons depends on their weapon level. Say for example, Sigurd can equip * level swords and B level spears. Since his sword level is a *, he can equip any weapon, including a legendary weapon. His spears, can only be equipped if the spear level is B or under. Also useable weapons/items have an endurance number. Every time you use it, the number goes down. Once it has reached 0, it becomes broken and becomes a very crap weapon or simply cannot be used at all. Repair by going to a castle. Note that weapons with a * next to it has a special effect.
