I have the character descriptions done, but I can always add to them. The love section is pretty much done, except I might change any mistakes or opinions. The How to Play section is started, but not even close to done. I will add more general tips as I learn them. I'll have a chapter-by-chapter walkthrough that I haven't started yet eventually. The next update will have at least the introductory chapter, if not more. 11/13/99-Version .02- I added two new sections in the Love part and updated it since I have tried some new couples. I'm planning on starting a FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions) section, so send me any questions that you have that are related to Fire Emblem 4. I added some more general tips. Still working on the How to Play section. I started up the weapon descriptions, which can be found under the How to Play section. I got the Introductory Chapter Walkthrough and conversation guide up and I'll do the next chapter by the next update. Version .03- I finally got around to making some ASCII art. The walkthrough for the 1st chapter is up. Added a few general tips. Got the skills in the character descriptions up now (where available). I have only received TWO questions for the FAQ's section, so I'm thinking of just making some up. I'm done with the weapon descriptions and class descriptions. I also did sort of a strange couple-athon in my latest game so you might want to check out the new descriptions for some of the couples. ---Things to do--- Walkthrough I'm thinking of doing a family tree type of thing Work on tactics section Work on how to play section Contents 1. Walkthrough (incomplete) *****CHARACTER LIST***** First Half Here's an explanation of each category: The first thing is the character's name (duh). Gender is whether the character is male or female (sometimes it's hard to tell). This is so you don't try to have a guy fall in love with another guy or vice-versa (it just doesn't work that way). Sibling(s) is if the character has a brother or sister (this is for the sibling effect that will be explained later). Can use is what weapons/staffs/spells the character can use. At class change is what the character can use after getting a class change. Skills are what skills the character has. The second at class change is what skills the character has after class change. Class is what class(es) the character is and can become. Legendary weapon(s) is what legendary weapons the character can potentially use. The last thing is the description, which includes what I think of the character and how to get them. Sigurd Gender: male Sibling: Etherin Can use: * swords, B lances Skills: Advancing Class: Lord Holy Blood: Baldo (sword) Sigurd is the leader of the first half. He is very strong, has good defense, and can use the Baldo sword once you get it in the Fifth Chapter. His magic defense isn't very great though. Once you get the Baldo, he is an immovable object and an irresistible force all in one. He takes out about anyone in one battle and come out with only one or two HP damage. Sigurd has blue hair and you start out with him. Arek Gender: male Sibling: none Can Use: B swords, C lances At Class Change: B swords, B lances Skills: Advancing, Awareness Class: Social Knight/Paladin Holy Blood: none I hate Arek. He is the most worthless POS in the game. He sucks like nothing else. He has almost no attack or defense. The only thing he is useful for is getting Ayra (the awareness skill). He is Sigurd's loyal underling. Arek has green hair and a turban and you start out with him. Noiche Gender: male Sibling: none Can Use: B swords, C lances At Class Change: B swords, B lances Skills: Dual, Berserk Class: Social Knight/Paladin Holy Blood: none Noiche decent. He is like a pumped up version of Arek. At the beginning, they start out about the same, but Noiche will be notably stronger and faster at the end. He is also Sigurd's underling. Noiche has blond hair, red armor. Adan Gender: male Sibling: none Can Use: B swords At Class Change: A swords, A lances, B axes, B bows Class: Sword Armor/General Skills: Pinch Strike Holy Blood: none Adan's also so-so. He's very strong and has excellent defense, but he's so slow he can never get to the enemies quick enough and by the time he gets there they're all gone. He makes an excellent castle guard, so whenever you need to guard a castle, he's you're man. Adan is ugly as hell and you start out with him. Lex Gender: male Sibling: none Can Use: A axes Skills: Pinch Strike, Elite Class: Axe Knight/Great Knight Holy Blood: Neir (axe) I like Rex. He's strong and has good defense. He's not that fast, but he can usually take the blows. He never gets to use Neir, which is really too bad, but he does get the Hero Axe, which does the job. Rex has blue hair and comes after the first turn in the introductory chapter. He comes with Azel. Azel Gender: male Sibling: Arvis Can Use: B fire, C lightning, C wind At Class Change: B swords, A fire, B lightning, B wind Skills: Advancing Class: Fire Mage/Fire Mage Knight Holy Blood: Fala (fire) Azel is decent. He has bad defense, decent attack, and is speedy. He is good for finishing blows, since he usually attacks twice in a row. He never gets to use Fala, although his evil half-brother Arvis does. Azel has red hair and comes after the first turn in the introductory chapter. He comes with Rex. Kyuwan Gender: male Sibling: none Can use: * lances Skills: Continue Class: Duke Knight Holy Blood: Noba (lance) Kyuwan rocks. Kyuwan is Sigurd's brother-in-law since he is married to Etherin. He is very strong and somewhat fast. Once he gets the Noba, he is unstoppable. No one will dare to attack him. Kyuwan has brown hair and comes after the second turn in the introductory chapter. He comes with Etherin and Finn. Make good use of them since they leave after the third chapter. Etherin Gender: female (finally) Sibling: Sigurd Can Use: A swords, C staffs At Class Change: A swords, C lances, C staffs Skills: Berserk Class: Troubadour/Female Paladin Holy Blood: Baldo (sword) Etherin is sort of a strange character. She can heal and fight, which is a good thing. She doesn't really excel at either though, at least until she gets a class change. When she gets a class, change she's definite front line material. She never gets to use the Baldo because Sigurd gets it. Etherin has purple hair and joins after the second turn in the introductory chapter. She joins with Kyuwan and Finn. Finn Gender: male Sibling: none Can Use: B lances At Class Change: A lances Skills: Prayer, Advancing Class: Lance Knight/Duke Knight Holy Blood: none Nobody gives Finn too much credit. I like Finn. He starts out weak, but if you train with him, enough he gets very strong. He's also the only character that is in both halves of the game, so I highly recommend getting him a class change in the first half. Finn has blue hair (and looks a lot like Kyuwan) and joins after the second turn of the introductory chapter. He comes with Kyuwan and Etherin. Mideel Gender: male (could have fooled me) Sibling: none Can Use: B bows At Class Change: A bows Skills: Advancing, Continue Class: Arch Knight/Bow Knight Holy Blood: none Compared to the other archers, Mideel sucks nuts. He's still better than stupid Arek though. There's nothing too special about Mideel. Mideel has long green hair and joins after you conquer castle 1 in the introductory chapter (he looks like a cross-dresser). Deu Gender: male Sibling: none Can Use: C swords At Class Change: A swords Skills: Sun Sword, Counterfeit, Steal At Class Change: Advancing, Sun Sword, Counterfeit, Steal Class: Thief/Thief Fighter Holy Blood: none Deu is cool. He is incredibly weak before his class change. After his class change, he is pretty strong and lighting fast. He's almost as good as Ayra. Almost. His stealing skill is handy as well if you are in need of extra cash. Deu has blond hair and joins after the first turn of the first chapter. He comes with Edin. Edin Gender: female Sibling: Bridget Can Use: B staffs At Class Change: A staffs, C fire, C lightning, C wind Skills: none Class: Priest/High Priest Holy Blood: Ulir (bow) Edin is handy. Until she gets a class change, she can only heal. She is a very good healer though. She never gets to use Ulir (she can't even use bows). Edin has long blond hair and comes after the first turn in the first chapter. She comes with Deu. Ayra (!) Gender: female Sibling: Shannon Can Use: A swords Skills: Shooting Star Sword, Advancing, Awareness At Class Change: Continue, Shooting Star Sword, Advancing, Awareness Class: Sword Fighter/Sword Mistress Holy Blood: Odo (sword) AYRA IS AWESOME! She is by far the best person in this half of the game. She is very fast, very strong and has mediocre defense. She is the only person in this half with Shooting Star Sword (see the skills section). She never gets to use Odo, but she doesn't need it. Ayra has long black hair and can join in chapter 1. Getting Ayra is a hassle. Ayra guards castle one in chapter 1. Have someone go near her, but not close enough to be hit (I suggest using Arek, since he has awareness and it doesn't matter too much if he dies). Conquer her castle and talk to her with Sigurd. Do whatever is necessary. She is worth it. Jamuka Gender: male Sibling: none Can Use: A bows Skills: Advancing, Continue, Dual Class: Bow Fighter/Sniper Holy Blood: none If you thought, Mideel was good just wait (I also laugh at you if you think Mideel is good). Jamuka is about twice as powerful and starts out with an awesome bow. Bridget is still the best archer, but Jamuka is also damn good. Jamuka has brown hair and can join in chapter 1. To get him just have Edin talk to him. Diadora Gender: female Sibling: none Can Use: B rods, * light, A staffs Skills: Awareness Class: Shaman Holy Blood: Narga (light), Loputous (dark) Diadora is decent. She has a very nice light spell and a rod that freezes enemies, but has horrible defense and accuracy. You only get to use her for one and a half chapters. She automatically falls in love with Sigurd. She never gets to use Narga either. If she dies in the 1st chapter, she will come back to life in the 2nd. Diadora has white hair and joins in chapter 1 when Sigurd passes through the forest. Hollin Gender: male Sibling: none (he's Ayra's cousin though) Can use: A swords Skills: Advancing, Moonlight Sword Class: Sword Fighter/Forrest Holy Blood: Odo (sword) Hollin is pretty decent. He's kinda like Ayra, but slower, weaker, and no Shooting Star Sword (damn!). Hollin does have a skill called Moonlight Sword to make up for this. Moonlight Sword eliminates the enemy's magic and regular defense, which isn't too shabby. Hollin has blonde hair and joins in the second chapter after you beat everyone in the coliseum. Lachesis Gender: female Sibling: Eltoshan (?) Can use: A swords, C staffs At class change: A swords, A lances, A axes, A staffs, A fire, A lightning, A wind, C light Skills: Charisma At Class Change: Advancing, Charisma Class: Princess/Master Knight Holy Blood: Hezul (sword) Quite nice. Quite nice indeed. She's not great until you get a class change. When I first saw her usable weapons, my jaw dropped to the floor. Literally. She can use any frickin' weapon!!! (except legendary weapons and dark magic of course). She has incredible stats to go with her weapon combo. She never gets to use Hezul, but her brother and nephew do (her brother is hell on a horse). Lachesis has long blonde hair and joins in the second chapter after Sigurd talks to her. Levin Gender: male Sibling: none Can use: C fire, C thunder, * wind At class change: B staffs, B fire, B thunder, * wind Skills: Continue, Berserk Class: Bard/Sage Holy Blood: Holsety (wind) Levin is a nice addition to the team. He is VERY good with wind magic and is considerably quick. After he acquires Holsety, he is like death incarnate. Only those that are suicidal will attack him. Levin joins in the 2nd chapter after you conquer castle 2 along with Sylvia. He has green hair and wears a bandanna. Sylvia Gender: female Sibling: none Can use: C swords Skills: Continue, Dance, Prayer Class: Dancer Holy Blood: Blagi (staff) Sylvia's main use is dancing. She can stand next to any of your characters and let them take another turn by dancing. This is very useful in many cases. She is next to useless for fighting though. She never gets to use Blagi because she can't use staffs. Sylvia has green hair and joins in the 2nd chapter after you conquer castle 2. She comes with Levin. Beowulf Gender: male Sibling: none Can use: B swords At class change: A swords Skills: Advancing, Dual Class: Free Knight/Forrest Knight Holy Blood: none Beowulf is about in the same category with Arek and Noiche. He's not that useful, but he's not that bad either. After his class change, he gets better, but he's still not very useful. Beowulf has blonde hair and joins in chapter 2. To get him you must either A) Pay him 10,000 gold by talking to him with a character that has 10,000 gold or B) Kill his leader and talk to him with Sigurd (the first way is the easiest). Fury Gender: male Sibling: Manya Can use: B swords, B lances At class change: A swords, A lances, C staffs Skills: Advancing At Class Change: Continue, Advancing Class: Pegasus Knight/Falcon Knight Holy Blood: none Fury is decent. On one hand, she can go over any type of terrain without cutting back on movement and is speedy. On the other hand, she isn't very strong and doesn't have very good defense. Fury has green hair and joins in the second chapter. To get her, have Levin talk to her. Claude Gender: male Sibling: none Can use: A staffs, C fire, C thunder, C wind Skills: none Class: High Priest Holy Blood: Blagi (staff) Claude, like Edin, is meant for healing. He is quite good at it too. Claude comes with Blagi and a long distance, group healing staff. He doesn't have much to offer offensively and defensively, but who cares? Claude has long blonde hair and joins in the 3rd chapter along with Tiltyu. Tiltyu Gender: female Sibling: none Can use: B fire, B wind, A thunder Class: Thunder Mage/ Thunder Mage Fighter Skills: Wrath At Class Change: Continue, Wrath Holy Blood: Tordo (thunder) Tiltyu is somewhat handy. She starts out at a low level (lvl. 4) late in the game. She has good skills though. Wrath is probably among the best skills in the game. Whenever her HP is lower than half, she berserks! She comes with a cool A thunder spell as well. You probably shouldn't even try to get her a class change, since she starts at such a low level. Tiltyu has whitish hair and joins with Claude in the 3rd chapter. Bridget Gender: female Sibling: Edin Can use: * bows Skills: Advancing Class: Sniper Holy Blood: Ulir (bow) Finally, a good archer. And good she is. Edin will give her the Ulir and she reeks havoc with it. That's probably enough said. Bridget has blonde hair and joins in the 3rd chapter. She looks remarkably like Edin as well. Second Half I got rid of some categories because some of them can vary from game to game. I also added the category of parents, which is pretty much self-explanatory. For some characters I could only put one parent because it also varies from game to game. This is assuming everyone has kids. Selis Gender: male Siblings: none Parents: Sigurd and Diadora Can use: * swords At class change: * swords, B lances Class: Junior Lord/Lord Knight Holy Blood: Baldo (sword) Selis isn't nearly as good as his father. Junior Lord is sort of a sword fighting class without the speed. Post-class change, he is actually better than his dad. Something else that's kinda strange, is once he's gotten a class change he can change back and forth between classes. Selis has blue hair and you start out with him (obviously). Lakche Gender: female Siblings: Skasaha Parent: Ayra Can use: A swords Class: Sword Fighter/Sword Mistress Holy Blood: Odo (sword) OH YEAH!!! She's like Ayra on steroids. With super speed, strength, and decent defense for a sword fighter she can take anyone. She still has the almighty Shooting Star Sword, plus any other skills that her father had. Lakche looks like Ayra and you start out with her. Skasaha Gender: male Sibling: Lakche Parent: Ayra Can use: A swords Class: Sword Fighter/Forrest Holy Blood: Odo (sword) I don't know how the Fire Emblem 4 developing team got away with giving you some of the best characters to start out with in the second half. But frankly, I don't really care. Skasaha is like Hollin, and depending on who Ayra fell in love with, Skasaha can be anywhere from decent to great. Skasaha has brown hair and you start out with him. Rana Gender: female Sibling: Lester Parent: Edin Class: Priest/High Priest Holy Blood: Ulir (bow) Rana is about the equivalent of Edin. She's the best healer in the second half, but she's not up to par with Claude by any means (unless she's Claude's daughter). Of course, she won't get to use Ulir since she's a healer. Rana has funky hair and you start out with her. Yuria Gender: female Sibling: Yurious (half brother) Parents: Diadora, Arvis Can use: B staffs, B fire, C wind, C thunder, * light After class change: B staffs, A fire, B wind, B thunder, * light Skills: Advancing, Continue, Awareness Class: Shaman/Sage Holy Blood: Narga (light) She's quite a bit like Diadora (she even looks like Diadora). I like Yuria a lot better though. She can get Rizziah, which is the same spell that the Earth Sword has. She also gets to use Narga! Narga is the best weapon in the game. Yuria has whitish hair and joins in chapter 5 after conquering castle 2. Oiyafe Gender: male Sibling: none (somehow he's related to Selis) Can use: A swords, B lances Skills: Advancing, Berserk Class: Paladin Holy Blood: Baldo (sword) Oiyafe is only useful for about the first two maps or so. Remember that little kid that gave you class changes in the first half? He's grown hasn't he? He's at a high level, but his stats suck like nothing else . They're like level 2 stats on a level 20 character. Well... Not quite that bad, but you get the idea. Oiyafe has brown hair and joins in the 5th chapter along with Delmud and Lester. Delmud Gender: male Sibling: Nanna Parent: Lachesis Class: Free Knight/ Forrest Knight Holy Blood: Hezul (sword) Delmud isn't too great. It really just depends on who his father is. That's about all I have to say about that. Delmud joins in the 5th chapter with Oiyafe and Lester. Lester Gender: male Sibling: Rana Parent: Edin Class: Arch Knight/Bow Knight Holy Blood: Ulir (bow) Lester is the equivalent of Mideel. His stats are about the same and he's the same class. Obviously he doesn't get to use Ulir because Faval gets it. Lester has blue hair and joins in the 5th chapter with Oiyafe and Delmud. Yohan Gender: male Sibling: Yohalvier Can use: A axes Skills: Pinch Strike Class: Axe Knight/Great Knight Holy Blood: Neir (axe) Johan is a lot like Lex, except I think he's weaker. He doesn't have Elite either. Yohan can join in the 5th chapter. You must choose between him and Yohalvier. Talk to one with Lakche. Yohalvier Gender: male Sibling: Yohan Can use: A axes At class change: A axes, B bows Skills: Dual Class: Axe Fighter/Warrior Holy Blood: Neir (axe) Take Yohan minus his horse and you have Yohalvier. The only real differences are Yohalvier can use B bows after a class change and he starts out with an Elite Ring. He's also perfect for guarding castles. It's up to you about which one you want. He joins the same way as Yohan. Arthur Gender: male Sibling: Tinny Parent: Tiltyu Class: Wind Mage/Wind Mage Knight Holy Blood: Tordo (thunder) He's not bad. He inherits the Wrath ability from his mother, which comes in handy. He's pretty much like Azel, but he can be better or worse, depending on his father. Arthur has white hair and joins in the 5th chapter along with Fee. Fee Gender: female Sibling: Seti Parent: Fury Class: Pegasus Knight/Falcon Knight Holy Blood: none She's quite a bit like her mom. She can be different depending on her father, but she's usually a very important member of the team. Fee has green hair and joins in the 5th chapter with Arthur. Shannan Gender: male Sibling: Ayra Can use: * swords Skills: Advancing, Continue, Shooting Star Sword Class: Sword Master Holy Blood: Odo (sword) Shannan is one of my favorite characters. He is Ayra's brother, who you saved in the 1st chapter (remember that little kid?). He actually gets to use Odo. Odo gives a HUGE speed bonus and a skill bonus too. Shannan, like his sister, has Shooting Star Sword. He doesn't have a high hit percentage, but who cares? Shannan looks like Ayra (without the girly eyes) and (I think) he joins in chapter 6 with Pati. Pati Gender: female Sibling: Faval Parent: Bridget Class: Thief/Thief Fighter Holy Blood: Ulir (bow) Pati is the thief for the second half. Personally, I like Deu better than Pati. He seems faster, but that might be because of who her father was. Anyhow, she comes with a sleep sword that will be very useful in the future. Pati is also the one who gives Shannan Odo right off the bat. Pati has blonde hair and joins with Shannan in the 6th chapter. Finn (again) Gender: male Sibling: none Can use: Same stuff as before At class change: Same stuff as before Skills: Also the same Class: Lance Knight/Duke Knight Holy Blood: none (did you really think it had changed?) This is Finn's real use. Since you got to level him up in the first half, he'll be really strong (unless you were an idiot and never used him). Not much has changed. He looks older now, but his skills, weapons, and everything else stayed the same. He joins with Leif and Nanna. Leif Gender: Male Sibling: Althena Parents: Kyuwan, Etherin Can use: A swords At class change: A swords, A lances, A axes, A staffs, A fire, A wind, A thunder, C light Skills: Continue, Berserk At Class Change: Advancing, Continue, Berserk Class: Prince/Master Knight Holy Blood: Baldo (sword), Noba (lance) Leif is a bit like Lachesis. They are both somewhat weak before their class change. Then they get WAAAAY better. A everything (almost)! Leif looks sorta like Kyuwan and joins with Finn and Nanna. Nanna Gender: female Sibling: Delmud Parent: Lachesis Class: Troubadour/Female Paladin Holy Blood: Hezul (sword) Nanna is the Etherin of the second half. Same class and pretty much the same weapon usage. Nanna looks kinda like Lachesis and joins with Finn and Leif. Ares Gender: male Sibling: none Parent: Eltoshan Can use: * swords, C lances At class change: * swords, B lances Skills: Pinch Strike, Advancing, Continue Class: Social Knight/Paladin Holy Blood: Hezul (sword) Ares rules! He COMES with Hezul which gives him VERY good defense (magic and physical). He has pretty nice evade rate as well. He's like a freakin' steamroller! Ares looks like Eltoshan. Lynn Gender: female Sibling: Coupl Parent: Sylvia Class: Dancer Holy Blood: Blagi (staff) Lynn can be a good or bad fighter, depending on her father. She's useful no matter what, since she can dance. Lynn has green hair. To get her, conquer the castle that Ares comes out of. Send Ares into the castle and you will get Lynn. Faval Gender: male Sibling: Pati Parent: Bridget Class: Bow Fighter/Sniper Holy Blood: Ulir (bow) Faval is about like Bridget, which is definitely not a bad thing. He can be stronger or weaker, depending on his father. Faval has blonde hair. To get him, talk to him with Pati. Tinny Gender: female Sibling: Arthur Parent: Tiltyu Class: Wind Mage/Wind Mage Fighter Holy Blood: Tordo (thunder) Tinny is about the same as Arthur, except different class change. That's about it. Tinny looks like Tiltyu and to get her, have Arthur talk to her. Hannival Gender: male Sibling: none Can use: A swords, A lances, B axes, B bows Skills: Big Shield, Continue, Pinch Strike Class: General Holy Blood: none I like Generals. They make perfect castle guards due to their lack of movement, and they have good attack and defense. Personally, I thought Adan was better, but a General's a General. To get Hannival, talk to him with Coupl. Coupl Gender: male Sibling: Lynn Parent: Sylvia Class: Priest/High Priest Holy Blood: Blagi Coupl is like a level 1 Claude. He's not very good at healing until he reaches higher levels. Coupl has blonde hair. To get him, DON'T kill Hannival (put him to sleep or something). Althena Gender: female Parents: Kyuwan, Etherin Can use: B swords, * lances At Class Change: A swords, * lances Skills: Continue, Berserk, Advancing Class: Dragon Knight/Dragon Master Legendary Weapons: Noba (lance), Baldo (sword) Althena is like Kyuwan riding a dragon. She's GOOD. Just keep her away from arrows and magic. To get her, talk to her with Leif. *****ABILITIES***** Abilities are skills that certain characters have. Some skills can be attached to weapons or rings. Skills can be activated at random, automatically, or at a certain HP level. The higher the Skill statistic is, the more likely a character is to use his or her ability. Some skills are automatic as well. Advancing- If the character with this ability is faster than its opponent, then that character will attack first. Its symbol is 3 arrows. Items with this skill attached: Advance Attack Ring Continue- After an attack the character with this ability will attack A LOT of times. Its symbol is 1 arrow. Items with this skill attached: none Counterfeit- Characters with this ability can buy and repair items for half price. Its symbol is a percent sign with an arrow pointing down. Items with this skill attached: Bargain Ring Charisma- Characters with this ability will give characters near it a 10% increase in hit percentage. Its symbol is a person in a blue background. Items with this skill attached: none Dance- When used this command will let characters above, below and beside take another turn. Its symbol is a dancer. Items with this skill attached: none Berserk- When activated, this skill will let the character use an attack 3x as powerful as normal. There is also a special animation that goes along with this. Any weapon that has at least 50 kills on it will have this skill attached as well. Its symbol is two swords crossed, with an explosion. Items with this skill attached: Killer Bow, Hezul Dual- When activated, the character with this skill will go into another round of combat. Awareness- It prevents all berserk attacks. I believe it prevents abilities as well. Its symbol is an eye. Items with this skill attached: none Big Shield- When activated, it blocks attacks (physical and magic). Its symbol is a shield. Items with this skill attached: none Prayer- When this character has 5 hit points or less, they will dodge basically anything. Its symbol is a star. Items with this skill attached: Prayer Blade, Baldo, Circlet, Prayer Ring, (I think) Ulir Elite- Gain double experience. Its symbol is a blue square with stars and stuff on it. Items with this skill attached: Elite Ring, (I think) Hezul Life- Heals character a little bit every turn. NOTE- No characters have this ability naturally. Items with this skill attached: Life Ring, Circlet, Ulir Pinch Strike- When the character's HP drops to half, they will always attack first. Its symbol is an arrow pointing to a dot. Items with this skill attached: none Steal- Steals gold from the enemy during combat. Its symbol is a bag of gold. Items with this skill attached: Thief Ring, Thief Sword Shooting Star Sword- When activated, this character will do 5 hits in succession. Its symbol is a sword with a green background. Items with this skill attached: none Moonlight Sword- When activated, the enemy's physical and magic defense will be eliminated for the next attack. Its symbol is a sword with a blue background. Items with this skill attached: none Sun Sword- When activated, the next hit will drain energy from the enemy to the character. Its symbol is a sword next to the sun. Items with this skill attached: none Wrath- When the character's HP reaches one half, all hits will be berserk hits. *****CLASS LISTINGS***** Here is a list of all the known classes in FE4. I included strategies to beating them when they are enemies. Armor On your side: Adan There are actually 4 types of armors. Bow, axe, sword, and lance. They can only use B types of their weapons until they get a class change. Use the weapon triangle on these guys and you should be just fine. General On your side: Adan, Hannival These are armors with class changes. They can use A swords, A lances, B axes, and B bows. They're PERFECT castle guards. Slow, strong, and good defense. It's all there. You'll usually meet up with them as castle guards too. Baron Ugh... You'll quickly learn to hate these. They are almost always guarding castles and they have a weapon selection about as large as a Master Knight. They make use of their weapon variety too. The good thing is they don't usually have stats to match. Emperor The class-changed Baron. Thank God that there's only one of these in the game (sadly, he's not yours). They are like Barons with almost totally maxed stats. Use Ares and Selis with their Legendary Weapons to slaughter him. Sword Fighter On your side: Ayra, Hollin, Lakche, and Skasaha Ahhh… Yes. The almighty sword fighter class. They represent a good portion of the best characters in the game. They've got speed, strength, and decent defense. To defeat them, skewer them with Kyuwan or Finn. Magic also works nicely. Forrest On your side: Hollin, Skasaha One of the class changes of the Sword Fighter. They are basically sword fighters with better defense and a slightly larger moving radius. Use the same methods as you would for Sword Fighters. Sword Master/Mistress On your side: Ayra, Lakche, and Shannan The other class change of the Sword Fighter. Males are Sword Masters and females are Sword Mistresses, respectively. A sword fighter with Continue and some greatly increased stats. There are only a few of these in the game, but they are VERY dangerous. Attack from distances whenever possible. Axe Knight On your side: Lex, Yohan They tote around B axes and have high defense. They are horribly slow, so use your speedy characters and they'll never touch you. Sword Fighters work especially well. Great Knight On your side: Lex, Yohan An Axe Knight's promotion. A axes still high defense, high attack, and decent speed. Sword Fighters still work well on them since they have the weapon advantage. Social Knight On your side: Noiche, Arek, and Ares Really not a very good class with the exception of Ares. B swords and C lances are their tools of the trade. They average defense, average strength, average skill, and finally, average speed. Crappy magic defense too (hint, hint). Paladin On your side: Noiche, Arek, Ares, and Oiyafe Quite a bit better than their previous Social Knight class. They now have an extra tile on their movement radii and can use B lances. They have somewhat decent magic defense too. They still shouldn't be too hard in battle though. Troubadour On your side: Etherin, Nanna They are pretty much female Social Knights with worse attack and defense, but the addition of C level staffs. They have better magic defense too. Just take them out with anyone. Female Paladin On your side: Etherin, Nanna Once again, they are just female Paladins with the addition of C staffs and C level lances as opposed to Paladins' B level. Their attack and defense are much better now, so you don't have to worry about them on the battlefield. You'll never fight any of these. Lance Knight On your side: Finn Lance Knights don't really excel at anything. Mediocre everything, except magic defense, which is nonexistent. B lances are the only things that they have to work with. When fighting these, just hack of their lances with axes. Duke Knight On your side: Finn, Kyuwan Better speed, strength and defense. They are now able to use A level lances too. Over all, they are a much better class. Axes still get the better of them though. Free Knight On your side: Beowulf, Delmud They are basically Lance Knights with swords instead of lances. Their skill is much better though. Once again, their magic defense isn't all that great. Lances work pretty well too. Forrest Knight On your side: Beowulf, Delmud These units will now get to use A swords as opposed to their old B swords. Speed and strength are increased. Lances and magic will still do them in. Thief On your side: Deu, Pati This class rocks. They will solve all your money problems, since they can steal and then give the money to other characters. Their luck and speed really help their evade too. There's one problem though. They're VERY weak. It's pretty pathetic. Get a class change A.S.A.P. Furthermore, hit them with distance weapons in battle, for they will make you go broke in melee. Thief Fighter On your side: Deu, Pati I LOVE THIS CLASS!!! They are like Sword Fighters that can steal. MUCH better attack and defense than before too AND they can use A swords now! Once again, use distance attacks so these guys won't wipe out your cash supply. Princess On your side: Lachesis A decent class. Sort of a sword fighting class without all the speed and skill. They can use A swords and C staffs. It's well worth it to get them a promotion though. You'll never fight any of these either. Prince On your side: Leif Just like Princesses except without the staffs. Master Knight On your side: Leif, Lachesis Oh yes. Yes indeed. A EVERYTHING! (except for the C light and no dark magic). Their stats are incredibly high too. You will only fight a few of these, but give it your all. Never underestimate your opponents. Pegasus Rider Pretty pathetic, even for a Pegasus class. C level lances and swords are all that they can use. Pegasus Knight On your side: Fury, Fee These are just a bit better than Pegasus Riders, since they have B lances and swords. One or two arrows should take them out easily. Falcon Knight On your side: Fury, Fee I think I overuse these WAY too much (seriously, I had 80 kills on the Hero Lance before the 2nd half). They ARE awesome though. They are very mobile and agile. They're speed can easily reach 30. Plus, they have A swords and lances and C staffs. They still can't handle arrows very well though. Dragon Rider Pegasus Riders – Pegasus + dragon = Dragon Rider. They also have better defense. All dragon classes are extremely vulnerable to magic and arrows. Dragon Knight On your side: Althena Not bad. They are the next step up in the dragon classes. They use B swords and lances. Dragon Master/Mistress On your side: Althena VERY nice defense and strength. You might not want to even use magic on these guys. Arrows are the way to go. Bards On your side: Levin Levin is easily the best Bard in the game, seeing as how he's the only one. Wind magic will be the weapon of choice for him. Shaman On your side: Diadora, Yuria The female counterpart of the Bard. The only real difference is that they can use B staffs. You'll never fight any of these. Sage On your side: Diadora (?), Yuria, Levin, Seti The class changed form of both the Bard and Shaman. Much better speed. Their magic rank gets upgraded too (you gotta love the light magic). The males now get to use staffs too. Physical hits should work well on these. Dancer On your side: Sylvia, Lynn This is more of a 'tool' class than an offensive class. Dancers have the Dance ability, which lets any characters that are up, down, left or right from them take another turn. Nifty, eh? Oh yeah, and YOU are the only one that gets these. Mage On your side: Azel, Tiltyu, Tinny, Arthur A very useful class. They can take out pretty much anyone, since most units don't have very good magic defense. In addition to that, these DO have good magic defense. Don't let them near physical fighters though. You won't fight many of these. Thunder/Wind/Fire Mage These are mages that specialize in a specific element and are given B ranked spells. Otherwise, they are the same as regular mages. Mage Knight On your side: Azel, Arthur A great improvement over the regular old mage class. They now have horses and can use B swords and spells. They get some defense too. Mage Fighter On your side: Tiltyu, Tinny Basically a Mage Knight without a horse. They also can only use C swords, but to make up for this, they use B level staffs. Dark Mage They are a specialty mage with dark magic and B ranked staffs. Once again, crush them with physical attacks. Dark Bishop A Dark Mage with A ranked dark magic and staffs. They are usually castle guards. Priest On your side: Edin, Rana, Coupl A healing class with B staffs. They are no threat whatsoever. High Priest On your side: Edin, Rana, Coupl, Claude They are Priests with A staffs and C level magics. Still not much of a threat. Bishop They are the next step up in healer classes. A staffs and B level magics. You might want to think a little bit more before attacking one of these. Queen Thank God these only appear in the coliseum. A staffs and A magics. Yikes. Arch Knight On your side: Mideel, Lester An average class. They don't really stand out in any way. Slam them with melee weapons. Bow Knight On your side: Mideel, Lester They are a bit tougher to handle than a plain Arch Knight. They have better stats this time around. Melee still works well. Bow Fighter On your side: Jamuka, Faval They are decent. Usually, their speed is pretty decent and they tend to be stronger than Bow Knights. They still can't fight back against close range weapons. Sniper On your side: Bridget, Faval, Jamuka They are just Bow Fighters with better stats. Long/Aian/Killer/Glerd Arch A group of classes that all use A bows and has a range of up to 10. They aren't too strong, but they sure are annoying. Keep your flying units at a distance. Barbarian Ha! These are PITIFUL. They only appear in the first few chapters of the game and even then you should have no trouble at all. If you need a strategy to defeat these then go read a three-year-olds FAQ. Axe Fighter On your side: Johalvier The Axe Knight on foot. That's basically what we have here. Sword Fighters will have a major advantage. Warrior On your side: Johalvier Better, but still not great. They make good castle guards due to their high defense, attack and the addition of B bows. Since most of these don't use bows, Sword Fighters will still work well. Village Thief If you're looking for a target to steal money from, look no further. Nail them as soon as possible, for they will take out any nearby villages. They are weak and rich though. Which is very nice combination. Pirate They are a bit better than Village Thieves and they can walk on water. Watch out, as they can make some good surprise attacks. *****LOVE***** The love system is really what gives Fire Emblem 4 its depth. Basically, when two characters in the first half fall in love, they will have children. Their children will be your characters in the second half. The children will inherit the weapons, staffs, items, stats, holy blood and abilities from their parents. Rules of love 1. Characters cannot fall in love with their sibling (that's just sick). They can, however fall in love with people related to them in other ways though (like Lakche and Shannan, I've had this happen). 2. A character cannot fall in love with a character that's already in love with someone else. 3. Characters can only fall in love with other characters in Sigurd's group (obviously). How to make characters fall in love There are several ways to make characters fall in love. The first is to have them talk to each other (see how to play) when they can. Have a character perform actions (such as fighting, dancing, healing, etc.) next to his/her potential mate. Have them stand next to each other all the time. Do this and your job as matchmaker will be simple. Inheritance The children of the first gen. will inherit their parents' items, skills, Holy Blood and stats. Take these things into consideration when you are pairing off characters, especially when pairing off Legendary Weapon users. Make sure that the female's kids can actually USE the stuff that they inherit. Effects of Love There are several advantages to having to characters fall in love. One is the Love Effect. When a character standing next to his/her lover enters battle, sometimes two hearts will join. When this happens, a character's LAST hit in battle will be a berserk hit. When characters are in love, they can also give each other money. In addition to those, characters will sometimes give each other items when they fall in love. What Each Male has to Offer Noiche- Berserk and Dual are two useful skills that are semi-rare. Arek- Awareness is pretty useful, but that's it. Adan- Pinch Strike is a welcome addition to any character. His high defense is another plus. Rex- His Neir blood doesn't help much, since no one's kids use axes. Elite and Pinch Strike are quite useful though. Azel- His Fala blood can be useful if you use it right. No skills of any value though. Finn- Prayer is VERY valuable. It can be hard to make him fall in love though. Mideel- Dual and Continue are useful. Deu- Sun Sword and Counterfeit are two one-of-a-kind skills that only Deu (and his daughter/son) has. Jamuka- Dual and Continue, just like Mideel. Hollin- With Moonlight Sword, Continue, and Odo blood, Hollin makes a great mate for anyone that has children that use swords. Beowulf- Dual is a nice skill to pass on. Levin- Berserk and Holsety. Enough said. Claude- Blagi and NO SKILLS. That's it. Pairings This is a list of each of the matches and a description for each. A * means that the match is predestined. Predestined matches are much easier to make than other matches. A ^ means that I have tried that match and I know more about it. Edin Edin's children are Rana, the Priestess and Lester, the Bow Knight. Arek- This probably wouldn't work out too well, considering that neither of Edin's children is a Social Knight. Arek doesn't have very good stats or skills anyway. Noiche- Same deal with Noiche. ^Adan- Believe it or not, I tried this couple (it was sort of an accident). It was okay. Lester and Rana get Pinch Strike and a little better defense, but that's about it. Finn- Finn would probably make a decent mate for Edin. There wouldn't be much in it for Rana, but Lester would probably benefit from Advancing. Finn would probably pass on good strength as well. *^Azel- This gives Rana B level fire, which can come in handy. Lester's stats will become very interesting. They are all pretty much equal. Azel will also give Edin a Rescue Staff. Lex- This would give both Rana and Lester Elite, which would level them up faster. That's about it. *^Mideel- Edin will give Mideel a Hero Bow if this happens. Lester will be better in this form too. *^Deu- The only skill Rana and Lester get from this is Counterfeit. Lester is pretty crappy. Jamuka- I believe Jamuka would get a Hero Bow from this just like Mideel. Lester will be better in this form too. Beowulf- This might be interesting. Lester would get Dual and Advancing. I might try this on my next game and tell you how it turned out. Levin- This could be a decent couple. Rana wouldn't get to use Holsety though :( Hollin- You probably shouldn't even think about trying this. Moonlight Sword can't be used by mounted characters or mages (hence the title Moonlight SWORD). Claude- Why would you make two people with NO skills fall in love? Lachesis Lachesis's children are Nanna, the Troubadour and Delmud, the Free Knight. Arek- He probably wouldn't help too much. Noiche- Maybe a little better, but not a lot. Adan- Well, he would raise Delmud and Nanna's defense. ^Lex- Delmud is AWESOME in this form. With Elite I could have gotten a class change in the 6th chapter, but alas, you can't. He gets more strength than any Free Knight should too. Nanna is more like Etherin now with her extra strength and defense (but whoever heard of a Troubadour with Pinch Strike). Both their luck stats are abnormally high too. *^Azel- This didn't work out too well. It brought down their defense A LOT. It's sort of a strange couple anyway. Mideel- Might be decent, but not great. *Finn- I've heard good things about this. Very good things. Delmud's speed is very high, and Nanna is decent as well. Prayer helped them too. *Deu- I don't know how good this would be. Neither child would be able to use Sun Sword though. Jamuka- Nothing major would become of this. Hollin- Probably same here Levin- Worthless… Utterly, utterly worthless… *^Beowulf- Not bad. Not too good either. Claude- You're kidding right? Ayra Ayra's kids are Lakche and Skasaha. Both are sword fighters. Arek- There is absolutely no point to doing this whatsoever. ^Noiche- Lakche with Berserk and Dual. This is a very good couple to make. I think it makes the kids weaker, but not by much. Adan- This would slow down Lakche and Skasaha quite a bit. It might give them better defense though. *^Lex- Ahhh…Finally a mate worthy of Ayra. This gives Elite to both Lakche and Skasaha. Gives them a bit more defense too. Have Lex talk to Ayra at the beginning of chapter 3 for a Hero Sword for Ayra. Make sure you have Lex talk to her first and not Hollin. Azel- I'm seriously considering this, since it would help magic defense AND it would increase their effectiveness with magic swords. Couldn't hurt the speed either. Finn- Hmmm… Lakche with Prayer. I like the sound of that. Mideel- Hahahahaha! Yeah right! ^Deu- Lakche and Skasaha both get Counterfeit. Sun Sword compliments Shooting Star Sword very well. Jamuka- Might be interesting, but I don't plan on trying it anytime soon. *^Hollin- Incest is a nasty thing. Hollin can give Ayra a Hero Sword too. Beowulf- Advancing and Dual. S'nice. Levin- Don't waste Holsety you fool! Claude- This makes me cringe just thinking about it. Sylvia Sylvia results in Lynn, the Dancer and Coupl, the Priest. *Arek- I haven't tried it, but it can't be too awful if it's a predestined couple. Noiche- This wouldn't work out too well. Adan- A Dancer with defense. I like it. I like it a lot. Lex- This just seems too strange. Azel- This would give Coupl B fire. That could help. Finn- This would be pretty strange too. Mideel- Horrible. Plain and simple. Deu- Might add a little speed to Lynn and Coupl. It would give Lynn Sun Sword too. ^Jamuka- Yep. You're not seeing things. I'm trying this. I have not yet gotten to Lynn or Coupl yet though. *^Hollin- This is actually a very good couple. Lynn gets to use B swords instead of C swords, as a result of her Odo blood. She also gets moonlight hit, which always helps too. Coupl is a better fighter now. Beowulf- This might actually work decently, but not necessarily well. ^Levin- Lynn has Berserk, which is pretty cool since Dancers have AWESOME Berserk animations. She can hold her own with magic swords too. Coupl CAN use Holsety. There's just one catch: you have to get him a class change first, which is pretty hard. Claude- Coupl gets Blagi. Lynn sucks. 'Nuff said (it's more of that damn inbreeding). Fury Fury's offspring are Fee, the Pegasus Knight and Seti, the Sage. *Arek- This gives Fee Awareness. That means that you can go near bows and arrows without fear. This cuts down her strength though. Seti can't be downgraded too much. He still mows down enemies with his light magic. Noiche- Haven't tried it, don't want to. Adan- Might help those arrow critical hits. Lex- Lex makes a good mate for just about anyone. This probably won't be an exception. Azel- Gives Seti A level fire. Raises Fee's magic defense. Finn- Prayer is always a good skill to have. Mideel- Perish the thought. Deu- Simply put: nope. Jamuka- (See Mideel) ^Beowulf- This will benefit Fee much more than Seti. Seti still isn't bad though. *^Levin- Fee is okay. Berserk helps though. Seti will get Holsety and rock the house. Claude- Seti with light magic AND Blagi. Fee will be able to use higher ranked staffs too. Bridget Bridget gives birth to Pati, the Thief and Faval, the Bow Fighter. Arek- Nothing here. *Noiche- Decent. Nothing huge though. Adan- Might be fun if you have some spare time. Azel- That would be a waste of time. Lex- Might be interesting, but no. Finn- Couldn't be too awful. Mideel- Probably quite good. They're both archers. *^Deu- Yes! Deu will benefit both Faval and Pati. They will be faster and Pati will be a true thief with the skills that she receives. ^Jamuka- Not bad. Pati's not too good though. Beowulf- Would probably help Faval more than Pati. Hollin- Pati with moonlight hit AND B swords before a class change. I'm going to try this one. Levin- NO! Bad, bad player! Go sit in the corner! Claude- You DO want to be able to bring people back to life don't you? You do? THEN DON'T MAKE THIS COUPLE! Tiltyu Tiltyu's little bundles of joy are Arthur, the Wind Mage and Tinny, the Wind Mage. Arek- The only thing this would result in would be crap. Noiche- Arthur and Tinny with Berserk could be useful. Adan- Boosts up the defense a little. *Azel- The kids turn out to be pretty good mages. Higher ranked fire too. Lex- Imagine this: Wrath + Pinch Strike + Tinny with a Prayer Sword = One crazy unit when her HP is around 5. Elite couldn't hurt either. Deu- Tinny would be able to use Sun Sword after her class change. Jamuka- Dual and Continue could be useful, but that's it. Beowulf- Beowulf's skills make him a good candidate for pretty much anyone. *Levin- ARTHUR WITH HOLSETY AND TINNY WITH HIGHER RANKED WIND MAGIC!!! BERSERK TOO!!! ^Hollin- Arthur is wicked in this form. His HP is the highest I've EVER seen on one of my characters (it was more than 70!!). He actually gets higher strength than magic! He gets higher defense than magic defense too. AND he can use A swords after a class change. Tinny isn't quite as good. She doesn't get to use Moonlight Sword after her class change and her strength, defense, and HP aren't as high. *^Claude- I'm told that Arthur can use Blagi, but he doesn't seem to be able to. It does raise Tinny's staff rank though. If anyone has couple descriptions they would like to submit, send it to Chickencha@aol.com. Don't worry, I will give you your due credit. *****FAQ'S***** Q. I just wanna ask why Tinny doesn't join me. At what chapter does she join? Arthur won't speak to her. Submitted by Metaldbes@hotmail.com A. Hey, so somebody IS reading this thing. Well anyway, she joins in chapter 7 (which is in the second half of the game). She will come out of the south east castle with a bunch of other mages. Only four of those mages will have pictures on their status screen. Three will look somewhat similar, while the other will have those red-colored ribbons in her hair. That's Tinny. So make sure you're trying to talk to HER with Arthur. That should be about all you need to know. If you still have trouble, try making sure that you're talking to her with the right person. Q. Where do I get the Holsety spell and what chapter? and in case it's in the first and I miss it, can I get in the second half? Submitted by Metalbes@hotmail.com A. To get it in the first half, you have to be in the 4th chapter. After you've reconquered that castle that southern castle that was conquered by the archers, just go in it with Levin. After a short conversation with a lady he will come out with Holsety! I'm sorry to say that if you didn't get it in the first half, you won't get it in the second half (I'm not really sure about this since I've gotten Holsety every time I've played). And if you DID get it in the first chapter, then all you have to do is have Levin fall in love with either Fury, Tiltyu, or Sylvia. Then their son (Seti, Arthur, or Coupl) will start out with it (since they inherited it). I believe these are the only children that can use Holsety. Send any questions to Chickencha@aol.com. Your input is needed. I'll even slap your name on the Thank You section (yes, I'm that desperate). *****HOW TO PLAY***** (Under construction) Since the game is in Japanese, it turns some gamers off due to the fact that they don't know what commands do and so forth. It's really not too bad once you have the hang of it. Conversation Talking is a very important aspect of Fire Emblem 4. Characters can receive items, get stat boosts, and most importantly, fall in love easier. Talking can also help you get new characters or learn important things (if you know Japanese). To find out who wants to talk with who, go to the status screen by pushing A on an empty square and pushing A again. After that, go to the 4th menu and to the right, is who wants to talk to who. To talk, choose the character that wants to talk to someone. Then move them next to the character they want to talk to. The first option on the top will be 'talk'. Simple, is it not? Holy Blood Some characters have some special blood in their veins that give them special power. These characters can have varying amounts of Holy Blood, from a small dot, to a large one. If a character has Holy Blood, it means that they are descendants of The 12 Heroes. The 12 Heroes each had a legendary weapon that they used. You can see if a character has any Holy Blood by pressing X on that character and then pushing A. It means the following things if a person has a little Holy Blood: 1. They are given an extra rank in that weapon category. For instance: Normally Troubadours can only use B swords, but since Etherin has some Baldo blood, she gets to use A swords. 2. Whenever they use a weapon of that type, they are given bonuses in stats. For instance: When Etherin uses a sword, she will get a stat bonus while using that weapon, since she has Baldo blood. It means the following things if a person has a lot of Holy Blood: 1. They are automatically given a * rank in that weapon category. For instance: Since Sigurd has a lot of Baldo Blood, he has a * ranking in swords. 2. They get to use the weapon that their Hero used. 3. They are also given a stat bonus when using any weapon that type. Legendary Weapons There are 12 Legendary Weapons that some of your characters can use. These weapons can be acquired in a few different ways. Characters can inherit them from their parents, have them given to them, or just start with them. All weapons are a * rank, and they must have a lot of Holy Blood in that category. In addition to that, each weapon gives stat bonuses and some have skills attached. A * means that a weapon is passed to whoever that character's son is. These are all the Legendary Weapons. Baldo Type: Sword Used by: Sigurd and Selis Stat bonuses: + 20 Magic Defense, + 10 Skill, + 10 Speed Skills: Prayer Ulir Type: Bow Used by: Bridget and Faval Stat bonuses: + 10 Speed, + 10 Strength Skills: Life and Prayer Hezul Type: Sword Used by: Eltoshan and Ares Stat bonuses: + 20 Skill, + 10 Magic Defense Skills: Berserk Odo Type: Sword Used by: Shannan Stat bonuses: + 10 Skill, + 20 Speed Skills: unknown Holsety Type: Wind Used by: Levin and his son* Stat bonuses: + 20 Speed, + 10 Skill Skills: unknown Neir Type: Axe Used by: Lex's dad and some other guy whose name I don't know Stat bonuses: + 20 Defense, + 10 Magic Defense Skills: unknown Additional comments: Neir can be thrown like a hand axe, so beware. Noba Type: Lance Used by: Kyuwan and Althena Stat bonuses: + 10 Strength, + 10 Defense, + 10 Skill Skills: unknown Dain Type: Lance Used by: Torabant and Arion Stat bonuses: + 10 Strength, + 10 Defense, + 10 Skill Skills: unknown Blagi Type: Staff Used by: Claude and his son* Stat bonuses: N/A (can't be equipped) Skills: N/A (can't be equipped) Loputous Type: Dark Used by: Yurious Stat bonuses: none Skills: unknown Additional comments: Stay away from this at all costs. Castles There are a number of things that you can do in a castle. In your main castle there are 5 options when you select a character. The first option is to go to town. In the town there are 6 options: (from left to right, top to bottom) Repair Shop, Trading Shop, Storage Area, Arena, Fortune Telling, and Item Shop. Each one of these places has an individual function. At the Repair Shop, you can repair any weapons or items that don't have their maximum uses left. At the Trading Shop, you can sell items and buy them with other characters. At the Storage Area, you can store any items that the character doesn't have room for. At the Arena, you can battle enemies to gain exp. and money. At the Fortune Teller, you can find out 3 different things: Love Status, Parents, and Battle Status. At the Item Shop, you can buy new items in each new area. Back inside the castle, the second choice is 2 swords that are crossed. This will take you out of the castle. The 3rd choice is a shield, that puts you on top of the castle to guard it. The next choice is a castle, which will get that character a promotion once they're ready. After that, there is a star. This will let a character use any staffs or dance. NOTE: The Blagi staff must be used inside the castle in this manor. The final choice is a bag of gold, which will transfer gold from that character to a different character. Weapons There are 4 ranks of weapons in Fire Emblem 4. From least to greatest, C, B, A, and *. If a character has a rank, in a weapon, they can use any weapon of that rank or lower. For example, if a character has a sword rank of B, they can use swords of the B or C rank. In addition to that, each weapon has a certain amount of uses. For each use, you can use that weapon once. Most weapons have 50 uses, with the exception of a few staffs and the Earth Sword. Once all the uses are gone, the weapon/staff will break. Broken weapons can still be used in combat, but their weight increases and their attack decreases. Broken staffs and spell books are useless and should be repaired immediately. To restore the uses or fix a weapon, go to a repair shop in a castle. Each weapon also has individual stats. The stats are weapon power, base to hit, and weapon weight. Weapon power is self-explanatory. For base to hit, the higher, the better. Weapon weight can cut down on your evade rate. The star with the number by it is the number of kills that that weapon has. Weapon Descriptions Here are all the weapons that I know of in the game, sorted by type and then rank. The Legendary Weapons aren't included since they have their own section. Also note that some of my translations might be off. Swords- Swords are generally the lightest, weakest, and most common weapons that there are. They are the only weapons that can have magic spells attached to them. Stats There are 7 main stats in Fire Emblem 4: Strength, Magic, Skill, Speed, Luck, Defense, and Magic Defense. Each of these stats has a different affect on battles. Here is a list of what each stat does. Strength- The higher, the more physical damage you will do in battle. Magic- The higher, the more magic damage you will do in battle. Skill- This gives you a better chance of activating a skill and hitting your opponent. Speed- This helps you evade attacks, attack more than once, and attack first. Luck- This helps your evade percentage as well. Defense- This helps you take damage from physical attacks. Magic Defense- This helps you take damage from magical attacks. Formulas Damage (without Berserk)- your strength + weapon power – enemy defense Damage (with Berserk)- 2 x your strength + weapon power – enemy defense Evade (without leadership bonus)- 2 x speed + luck – weapon weight Evade (with leadership bonus)- 2 x speed + luck – weapon weight + leadership skill Hit (without leadership bonus)- 2 x skill + weapon power Hit (with leadership bonus)- 2 x skill + weapon power + leadership skill Experience (if enemy survives)- enemy's level – your level + 10 Experience (if enemy is killed)- 2 x (enemy's level – your level) + 30 Being Mounted There are several advantages to being mounted on a horse, Pegasus, or dragon. You get a larger movement area and you get aftermovement (movement and options after battling or healing). There are a few disadvantages as well. The Knight Killer will Berserk on you. If you are on a dragon or Pegasus the Wing Clipper and any bows will Berserk. Dragons and pegasi (whatever the plural for Pegasus is) can fly over ANY terrain without movement restriction. Also, if you are mounted, you won't be able to use the skills, Moonlight Sword, Sun Blade, and Shooting Star Sword. Class Changes At lvl. 20, almost every character can get a class change. Class changes are sometimes called being promoted also. When a character gets a class change, the following things may happen: 1. That character will be able to use new or higher rank weapons. 2. That character's stats will increase greatly. 3. That character will gain new abilities. 4. That character will now be mounted on a horse if he/she wasn't already. 5. That character will have a new icon on the map. 6. That character will look different in battle. 7. That character's movement radius will increase. You should try to get characters a class change as soon as possible. Especially princes/princesses, thieves, and mages. To make a class change happen, go to the castle you started out in, and go to the castle command. *****GENERAL TIPS***** 1. Use the weapon advantages in battle if you can. This is how it goes: Axe is weak against sword, sword is weak against lance, and lance is weak against axe. With magic it's like this: Wind is weak against fire, fire is weak against thunder, and thunder is weak against wind. Dark magic is strong against all of them and light magic is strong against all types of magic. 2. Use arrows against flying units, because they ALWAYS berserk. 3. Before you conquer a castle, heal and do anything else that is needed. New events happen after you conquer castles. It's best to be prepared. 4. Try to get 50 kills on your legendary weapons (except Hezul, since it already has Berserk). For that matter, try to get 50 kills on any weapon. This will give berserk to the weapons. 5. Save often. Things could be going great one turn and then go directly to hell the next. Don't save in dangerous situations (example: you're surrounded by a bunch of Great Knights). 6. Try not to let anyone die. It is very expensive to fix the Blagi staff after it has been used. It's also a pain to go back to the first castle to do it. 7. Have all the females fall in love in the first half. If you don't, you will get crappy characters in the second half. 8. Fight in the coliseum fairly often. It is a good source of exp and money. 9. For some quick exp. you can do one of the following: A) Attack a castle guard again and again. When his/her HP gets low, lay off for a few turns to let them heal. B) Box in an enemy healer and another enemy unit. Then attack the other enemy unit. The healer will heal it and it won't be able to move since you boxed it in. 10. If you are fighting a unit with only range weapons, use melee weapons. If you are fighting a unit with only melee weapons, then use range weapons. *****TRICKS, CHEATS, AND GLITCHES***** There is very little known about FE4 in the way of cheats. I will post anything that is remotely close. Cheats I don't know any true cheats at this time, but I will try my hardest to find some. Game Genie Codes I don't know any Game Genie codes for FE4 at this time either. I am going to see if I can get one of those Game Genie code creator sites to get some. In the mean time, send me anything you have that works. Glitches Music Glitch- Put a unit outside the main castle. Then go inside the castle. Now select the village option. Then exit the village menu. Now go to the character menu and choose the character outside the castle. The chapter music will be replaced by shop music. Sylvia Glitch- In chapter 4, when Sylvia dances for the town and gets a Defender there is a glitch where the game will sometimes freeze. *****TACTICS***** There are some strategies and tactics that aren't mentioned in my walkthrough. If one of my methods fails, you can try one of these. Solo Missions These are where I start overusing characters A LOT. It does seem to work out well in certain situations though. Here is a list of characters that work out especially well for solo missions and why: Sigurd- His strength, speed, and defense do well in the battlefield. He's even MORE effective after he gets the Baldo sword. Magic will no longer threaten him, so he's practically invincible. Fury- She rides a Pegasus, which gives her access to pretty much anywhere. Great for hit-and-runs. She's also very fast, which comes in handy too. Just watch out for arrows. Strap on the Hero Lance, a regen ring, and a leg ring and you have yourself the perfect solo unit. Levin (after he gets Holsety)- His speed is insane, so he won't be getting hit any time soon, and since most units have little to no magic defense, he can just tear into them. Selis (AFTER he gets the Baldo)- He can survive pretty much any magic hit and his defense isn't so bad either. Like father, like son. Ares- He can also take any magic that comes at him. His defense is also usually in the twenties, if not maxed out. Perfect for the many times you face Ishtar. Fee- Once again, Pegasus riders are PERFECT for this type of thing. If you paired up Arek with Fury, she won't have to worry about arrow berserks either. Shannan- With Odo on his side, Shannan will dodge pretty much anything. When he does get hit he has trouble taking it though. Holsety user for the second half (but NOT Coupl)- Arthur or Seti will have the insane speed bonus that Holsety so generously offers. I think you get my drift. *****WALKTHROUGH***** (Under construction) There is no way to make an exact walkthrough of what to do, since FE4 has some of the most advanced AI I've ever seen, but I'll do my best. Introductory Chapter You'll start off with Sigurd, Noiche, Arek, and Adan on your side. Take Sigurd up northeast to take out the Village Thief. Get Adan off the castle and take him, Arek, and Noiche southeast to do some damage. End the turn. Mideel will get injured (somehow the castle boss berserks on him, but he doesn't even HAVE berserk) and Edin will be taken away. At the beginning of your turn Lex and Azel will come in from the north and join you. Have Lex and Azel get rid of the nearby Village Thieves and Barbarians and then head west. Take Sigurd back down south to where Noiche, Arek and Adan are and end the turn. At the beginning of the next turn Kyuwan, Etherin, and Finn will show up by your castle. Take the trio down to Sigurd and heal with Etherin. You might want to have Etherin and Kyuwan talk to Sigurd too. Continue making your way to Jungvy Castle. Once you arrive, take out the Barbarians surrounding the castle. Free the nearby village for some cash and a speed ring. I prefer giving the speed ring to Lex, but it's your decision. Nail the boss of the castle from a distance with Azel's fire magic, but don't conquer it yet. Move all your characters near where the bridge used to be. Stick either Lex or Adan on the exact spot and plug in Azel behind him. You've got yourself a nice little roadblock. NOW you conquer the castle. Barbarians will come flowing out of Evans Castle and attack you on the bridge. Mideel will pop out from the castle and join you. Then Arvis will come down from the north. He will make his way down to Sigurd and give him a Silver Sword. Sell Sigurd's old sword to Arek. Keep Etherin nearby for healing purposes. Once you've dwindled down the army to nothing, proceed to Evans castle. Kill the boss, conquer the castle, and that's one chapter down, 12 to go. Conversations Effects of conversation Rex & Sigurd No Effect Azel & Sigurd No Effect Etherin & Sigurd No Effect Kyuwan & Sigurd No Effect Chapter 1 When chapter 1 starts out, you will now be able to fight in the coliseum and buy things from the item shop. Do so and leave the castle. After the first turn, Deu and Edin will run out of the southwestern castle followed by some guards. GET THEM OUT OF THERE! Have Deu go into the nearby forest and have Edin just run like mad. Deu will be able to hold off the guards since they have a ZERO hit percentage in the forest (except the leader, but he only has a 6% hit percentage). Meanwhile, back to your main group of characters, have Kyuwan talk to Finn for a stat bonus and then head south. Kill off the army down there. After you've done that, send Sigurd, Arek, and Etherin south to the castle. DO NOT KILL THE SWORD FIGHTER. That's Ayra. As quickly as possible, do the following: Side tract Ayra with Arek. Keep Etherin nearby, since Arek will probably need healing often. Kill the castle guard and conquer the castle with Sigurd. You may want to bring Kyuwan down for that. Then talk to Ayra with Sigurd. Whew… Now gather everyone and go down to the southwestern castle. I usually get Deu a class change here, but you don't have to. Kill the castle boss and conquer the castle. Now Jamuka will come charging down with some Barbarians. Take out the Barbarians and talk to Jamuka with Edin. He'll join you now. Go through the forest. On the way, Sigurd will meet up with Diadora. She will join you. Before you go to the northern castle, make sure you take Lex to the end of the peninsula that's just to the east. He'll pick up a Hero Axe. Now go to the castle. Stay out of the castle guard's range. Attract the army south and take care of them. Now send Diadora up and silence the guard with her silence staff. Send up a few units, take him out, and conquer the castle. There's another chapter under your belt. Conversations Effects of conversation Kyuwan & Finn Finn's stats increase *Azel & Edin Azel's affection for Edin increases *Mideel & Edin Mideel's affection for Edin increases Edin & Etherin Edin gives Etherin a Return Staff Deu & Edin Deu gives Edin a Warp Staff Ayra & Kyuwan No effect That's all for now.
