You can do this for 5 times. The sixth time you need to choose yes, or else the system may hang. I suggest you choose AAABAAAA, AAACAAAA, AAACAAAA (yes, you choose 2 times), BACCAAAA. You will get 2 mirage robe, 1 wand, and 1 devil axe. Now you will be force to Chaos Path if you are in Sce60. So if you are going to Independent, choose AAAAAAAA. Else, you can choose a weapon for Erwin. --------------------------------------- Command Range (DLCOM) --------------------------------------- (COMEFFE) (COMITEM) (COMSTAT) (COMTRAI) This section is a guide for you to know what command range is and what the use of it is. The command range will glow in light color when you put your scroll over your units. If a troop is within the command range, extra A and D bonuses are added to the troop's stats. Although the effect is less obvious in the beginning, its importance becomes so important that you must always have your troops in your command range. Every time you get to LV10, you will have a class change (unless you are in final class already). Usually, this will happen: 1: command range increase in size, or remain constant. 2: a boost in the bonus. There are exceptions though When Elwin is a swordsman, 3rd class, He has a command range of 3, +5A, +3D and the number of troops for hire is increased by 1. When Rouga is a ranger, 4th class, He has a command range of 0, which means that all his units will have no bonus since they are always out of command range! However, this only happens to Ranger and High Master. So what to do if you want to be a ranger? Does that mean that you have to fight alone? ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ (COMITEM) Yes, you have items to save you. We usually equip a necklace to Rangers so that they can hire guards for themselves. They are still not good attackers as the guards have to stay directly beside the commander to have the bonus. They remain constant through out the game. Please refer to for the details. If Leon is equipped with crown and Langrissers and hires Royal Lancers as Knight Master, the troop will have (30+11+3+3+1 A, 21+7+2+1+1 D) = 48A, 32D. That is even stronger than most enemy commanders at the last few scenarios. Is it just 48A, 32D? No, it is not. While the D value is correct, the A value is also affected by another factor. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ (COMTRAI) The A bonus will increase slowly through out the game, if you have enough troops surviving though. -------------------------------------------------------- | Spoils of War Money 1140P | ---------------------------------------------------------------- | | ----------------------------------------------------------------- | Erwin X 4 06 / + 0 P | | Hein X 0 06 / + 0 P | ----------------------------------------------------------------- This is the tabulation screen at the end of the first scenario. Look at the value 06/+0P. This is the command range I was talking about. +0P means no additional bonus and the 06 in front is the current EXP of my bonus. For every 16 points, I will gain an additional +1A and the new value will be 00/+1P. The maximum bonus is +8A. To train the command range bonus, do not let your troops die. In SNES version, the score follows the formula below. Result = 06 – No. of troop deaths Erwin has all 4 troops surviving, thus he gains all 6 EXP. As Hein never hired any units, he will gain all 6 EXP if he survives. If any commander died, the commander gains 0 EXP. scenario leon guide for the actual graphics) This section is to tell you how to defeat Leon in the first scenario, as well as getting all the secret tiles in that scenario, and defeat all other enemies, including Baldo and Liard. Firstly, this guide is not for noob. If you are still having troubles to defeat Vargas in Scenario 4, DON'T even try. DON'T even think of it. Secondly, my way to defeat Leon, without using scenario selection and shop cheat is to create a knight. Thirdly, even with this guide, it is not as easy to defeat Leon. Lastly, you will need to play CHEAT a bit, that is, you will fully exploit the save and load button, and fully utilize the Character Creation BUG. So now we start: You start by creating your character: Choose AAABAAAA, then AAACAAAA, AAACAAAA (yes, you choose 2 times) and BACCAAAA, to get a devil axe, 2 mage robe, and a wand. If you are going to INDEPENDENT path, choose AAAAAAAA for your 5th time. If not, you may like to choose AAABAAAA again for devil axe. The last time you choose, please select CBCCBCCA. Now equip your devil axe, mage robe to Erwin, wand and mage robe to Hein. Hire 5 Lancers for Erwin and 3 Soldiers for Hein. F = Fence < > = Tree X = Boundary of house H = Erwin's troops S = Hein's troops E = Erwin M = Hein < > X E X X X X X X H X X F SF F F S H S In Turn 1, move Erwin towards the secret tile, while his lancers and Hein get into a position for the battle. *Erwin's troops will be out of his command range. < > X E < > X < > < > X H < > X X X < > H H S < > S H < > F < > H S < >F F F Erwin gets the secret tile and move out, while his lancers and Hein should clear the imperial commander by 2nd turn. Remember to give ALL EXP to Erwin. Move up to attack Baldo now. R = Ridell T = Ridell's troops * * = Bridge L = Leon P = Enemy N = NPC troops A = Liard N N N T N N N T R T N T T P T P*L*P * *P Leon and Laird should be attacking Ridell now. Save often and pray that Ridell don't die. Hopefully, Ridell kills about 2 of Liard's Lancers. N N N T N N N T R T N P T L*A* *P* Get Erwin to LV3 since he will get an extra AT at LV3. Then you should eliminate Baldo's army, and have Hein and his 3 soldiers to constantly attack Baldo without killing him, since you need Baldo's HP to be below 8 so that he will stay and heal. N N N T N N N T R T N E T L*A* *E* Above, Leon and Liard will be attacking rather ferociously, thus Erwin should move up fast, along with his troopers. If Ridell die before killing at least 2 of Liard's Lancers, and both Liard and Leon are at HP10, LOAD. In above picture, I get lucky, as Leon is hurt. He will not deal deadly attacks now… R = Ridell T = Ridell's troops * * = Bridge L = Leon P = Enemy N = NPC troops A = Liard H = Erwin's troops E = Erwin < > = Tree N N N N< > A N L H *E* *H* H At turn 7, I manage to rush up, despite the fact that Ridell is dead, Evanze is alive and I finished all remaining lancers by colliding them with my lancers. Evanze will help a lot with Heal1. N< < N * * L *H* H Liard attacked my lancer this turn and get hurt by 1 HP. Erwin proceed to finish him off, leaving himself 1HP. If Liard is not hurt, then you need to save and fight on equal par using Erwin, probably leading to a 0-0. So save and load constantly until you win. Leon continues to attack my Lancers while I heal. When I finished, I am left with 2 lancers only. Leon is left with 9 HP. N< N * *L * * Yes, that's it, save again, and dual with Leon, until you get a very good result. The usual result is 1-4 however. So keep loading until you get a result like this.1-1 And then… you save again. Now use the lancer to attack. If you failed to injure him, load again. Until you get a result like this: N< N *H*L * * Now he is gone. You received a large sword, plated armor, war hammer, chain mail as a result. Remember to get the secret tile before you finished off Baldo with Hein. Congratulations, you defeated Leon in 1st scenario, something which as done by me in December 2004. A quote for another player, holyknight, "to defeat someone 3 classes above you, is simply too impossible." Please come up with another strategy to this guide. I know that Sun Xian is working on it.
