Introduction Wondering which class to change to? Or how much attack Erwin will have as a Royal Guard? Then this FAQ is for you. This FAQ covers the final stats of characters after all their class changes, with some suggested class change paths. Also, a summary of the character and their class options, as well as suggestions for class changes in different paths will be provided. This FAQ assumes that you have played Der Langrisser at least once and that you understand how the game works. Some things to take note of: 1. Stats are all an approximate value, and are not inclusive of secret tile bonuses, equipment and stat increases from their beginning class(not all yet) 2. Stats are based from the level when they first join you 3. This FAQ is all based on my opinion. Feel free to choose according to your playing style 4. Inherent stats are additional stats that some characters have. For example, Aaron gives an additional +1A to his troops. =============================================================================== 3. Paths There are four paths open to you as you progress through the story. They are: 1) Light, in which you join Kalxath 2) Imperial, in which you join the Empire 3) Independent, in which you use the Langrisser for yourself 4) Dark, in which you join Boser Each path has different characters that will join you, so I would suggest some planning for each character in advance. Lets take a look a the Light path first. The Light path gives you a variety of characters, with one flyer (Keith), one sea leader (Lester), one horseman (Scott), one mage (Hein), and a healer (Liana). Also, you have choice of Aaron or Lana. This leaves Elwin and Cherie, which should be left on foot. If you can survive without heal2, Liana and Lana can be another class instead of Agent. The Imperial path gives you a potential 4 mages (Hein, Imelda, Egbert, Sonya) so you might want to consider Queen for Imelda, making her into a support magic user instead. Hein might want to go the Priest route here. It will be slightly tougher in the Independent path, as you can have only 6 characters. Elwin might want to go Royal Guard here, as Sonya is much better as a Wizard. Alternatively, Osto could go Master Dino. You have many choices here, as each character can fufill different roles. Dark is the same as Independent, except that you have Liana and a different Lana. Volandum: If you're going to consider troops available in more detail, some observations would be that Esto's Succubus class gives ArchDemons early and that RoyalGuards and Agents give access to high-level flyers, which are very handy in the Light path. I totally forgot about the troop types. Doh. Swordman has bandits, which may be a turnoff for some people, but they can damage phalanx without losing, and can even damage grenadiers and horsemen, due to their high attack. Just don't expect them to win. So how do we actually decide which path to go? In scenario 7, depending on the how many Imperial characters (Laird, Morgan and Zorum) you defeat, you might or might not get a choice to go to the Imperial path. If you want to go the Imperial path, do not defeat the 3 of them. If going Light, by all means kill them. To go Independent and Dark, you must join Leon after scenario 7. You get to make your choice in scenario 11, when you reach the Langrisser. However, in scenarios 8 and 10, you will be asked questions, which can determine which path you go. Scenario 8, after you decide to go with Leon. What is Erwin really fighting for? 1) To end all wars 2) To obtain great power 3) No idea Scenario 10, question by Aaron Union by power is only a short peace. 1) Its only natural 2) Not neccessarily 3) I don't understand If you answered 1 for the first question and 2 for the second, or 3 for both questions, Erwin will express his desire for peace, and you will automatically go down the Imperial path. If you answered 2 for the first question and 1 for the second, Erwin thinks that power is the most important, and will decide to use the Langrisser for himself, forcing the Independent path, unless you use Leon to get the Langrisser. On scenario 16 of the Independant path, there should be an option to betray Boser and take the Alhazard for yourself. Do so and you will go down the Dark path. This is also dependent on question 8 of the character creation quiz. =============================================================================== 4. Characters 4.1 Erwin Starting stats: variable Inherent stats: variable Paths usable: all Sage (+6,+5) High Lord (+5,+6) Lord (+3,+6) General (+7,+7) --> King (+4,+1) Various Swordman(+8,+3) Silver Knight Sword Master (+9,+6) --> Hero (+2,+2) (+6,+2) Highlander (+7,+4) Knight Master --> Royal Guard (+10,+5) (+4,+0) Assuming that Erwin starts at AT23, DF20: If Lord-HiLd-Gen-King, stats = 42,40 If Lord-Swdmn-Gen-King, stats = 45,37 If SlvKnt-Swdmn-Gen-King, stats = 48,36 If Lord-Swdmn-Swdmstr-Hero, stats = 45,37 If SlvKnt-Hilndr-Swdmstr-Hero, stats = 47,34 If SlvKnt-Hilndr-KntMstr-RylGd, stats = 50,31 Erwin is the main character, and will most likely be your strongest hero. He ends up strong no matter which class you change him to. In most cases, it is probably best to go for King or Hero. In the light and maybe the imperial path, Swordman is recommended for the second class change. Highlord lets you have phalanx, which can be covered by Aaron or Rohga. Usually, only one person who can hire phalanxes is enough in the middle of the game. Its your choice though. I would suggest giving the Langrisser to someone else, as Erwin is strong enough. =============================================================================== 4.2 Hein Starting stats: AT23,DF13 Inherent stats: none Paths usable: all Archmage (+3,+4) --> Wizard (+2,+1) Mage (+4,+3) Sorcerer (+3,+2) Sage (+6,+5) Warlock (+1,+2) Saint (+5,+5) Paladin (+3,+3) Sword Master (+9,+6) Priest (+4,+4) High Priest (+5,+4) If Sor-Mage-Archmage-Wiz, stats = 36,25 If Pldn-Prst-Swdmstr, stats = 40,28 In the Light and Dark paths, Hein should be left as a Wizard. Going Swordmaster after Priest will make Hein very versatile, with heal2, a nice summon, and good troops. If not, stick him on a horse all the way. Choose between more attack or defense. Other than Leon, he is probably the only other character that can match up to Erwin in terms of stats. =============================================================================== 4.5 Liana Starting stats: AT20,DF17 Inherent stats: +2D Paths usable: Light, Dark High Priest (+5,+4) --> Agent (+1,+2) Priest (+4,+4) Cleric (+3,+3) Sage (+6,+5) --> Princess (+3,+1) Sister(+1,+1) Saint (+5,+5) Paladin (+3,+3) Archmage (+3,+4) Mage (+4,+3) Sword Master (+9,+6) If Clr-Snt-Sage-Prncss, stats = 38,32 If Clr-Prst-Sage-Prncss, stats = 37,31 If Clr-Prst-HiPrst-Agent, stats = 35,32 If you can survive without heal2, feel free to turn her into a Princess. Otherwise, go for Agent. Volandum: I'm pretty sure that Priest gets Heal2, so Riana can go Cleric -> Priest -> Sage -> Princess if she wants Flash and Heal2. =============================================================================== 4.6 Cherie Starting stats: AT25,DF14 Inherent stats: +2A, +1Mov Paths usable: Light Ranger (+9,+6) --> High Master (+2,+2) Swordman (+8,+3) Hawk Lord (+7,+2) Sage (+6,+5) --> Princess (+3,+1) HawkKnight (+1,+1) Dragon Knight (+6,+5) Silver Knight Dragon Lord (+10,+4) (+6,+2) Unicorn Knight (+6,+4) Knight Master --> Royal Guard (+10,+5) (+4,+0) If SlvrKnt-DgnKnt-Sage-Prncss, stats = 50,28 If HwkLd-Swdmn-Ran-Himstr, stats = 52,28 No matter which class you choose, Cherie will end up with high attack and low defense. Princess is the best choice. =============================================================================== 4.7 Keith Starting stats: AT26,DF15 Inherent stats: +2D Paths usable: Light Serpent Lord (+5,+8) Serpent Knight (+5,+6) Hawk Lord (+7,+2) Dragon Lord (+10,+4) --> Dragon Master Hawk Knight Dragon Knight (+6,+5) (+4,+0) Lord (+3,+6) Knight Master (+10,+5) High Lord (+5,+6) General (+7,+7) If Lord-DgnKnt-DgnLd-DgnMstr, stats = 49,30 If HwkLd-DgnKnt-DgnLd-DgnMstr, stats = 53,26 If HwkLd-SpntKnt-DgnLd-DgnMstr, stats = 52,27 Going Lord first is an option, giving him heal1 and more defense. =============================================================================== 4.8 Lester Starting stats: AT23,DF19 Inherent stats: +2D Paths usable: Light Dragon Lord (+10,+4) Dragon Knight (+6,+5) Captain (+6,+3) Serpent Lord (+5,+8) --> Serpent Master Pirate Serpent Knight (+5,+6) (+3,+2) Assassin (+7,+3) Knight Master (+10,+5) Swordman (+8,+3) Sword Master (+9,+6) If Cap-SrpnKnt-SpntLd-SpntMstr, stats = 42,38 If Cap-DgnKnt-SpntLd-SpntMstr, stats = 43,37 You may want to choose Dragon Knight for his second class change, as angels are a very good troop type to have. So even in indoor levels, Lester can be of some use. If you do this, you might want Keith to goSerpent Knight, then DragonLord. This way, you have both an air and sea leader. Also, Serpent Lord gives better stats bonuses to its troops(+12,+9), as compared to Serpent Master(+10,+7), so you might want to stop at Serpent Lord. =============================================================================== 4.9 Aaron Starting stats: AT23,DF20 Inherent stats: +1A Paths usable: Light Ranger (+9,+6) --> High Master (+2,+2) High Lord (+5,+6) Lord (+3,+6) Sword Master (+9,+6) --> Hero (+2,+2) Fighter Swordman (+8,+3) Paladin (+3,+3) Sage (+6,+5) Saint (+5,+5) Dragon Lord (+10,+4) If Lord-HiLd-Ran-HiMstr, stats = 42,40 If Lord-HiLd-Swdmstr-Hero, stats = 42,40 If Lord-Swdmn-Swdmstr-Hero, stats = 45,37 Hero is the way to go. Wizard is good too, but you probably won't need that much attack magic. =============================================================================== 4.12 Vargas Starting stats: AT26,DF20 Inherent stats: none Paths usable: Imperial Archmage (+3,+4) High Lord (+5,+6) Lord (+3,+6) General (+7,+7) --> Hero (+2,+2) Fighter Swordman (+8,+3) Assassin (+7,+3) Sword Master (+9,+6) Serpent Knight (+5,+6) Serpent Lord (+5,+8) If Lord-Hild-Gen-Hero, stats = 43,41 If Lord-Swdmn-Gen-Hero, stats = 46,38 If Asn-SpntKnt-SpntLd, stats = 43,37 Serpent Lord is a good option as well, since he gets Leviathan, and there are enough water levels in the Imperial path to make full use of it. =============================================================================== 4.13 Egbert Starting stats: AT24,DF15 Inherent stats: +2A Paths usable: Imperial General (+7,+7) Saint (+5,+5) Sorcerer (+3,+2) Sage (+6,+5) Warlock Mage (+4,+3) Necromancer (+4,+1) Archmage (+3,+4) Summoner (+4,+2) Zauberer (+4,+2) --> Dark Master (+2,+2) If Nmc-Sum-Zbr-DkMstr, stats = 38,22 Only one possible path here. Summoner is hard to level up though. =============================================================================== 4.14 Esto Starting stats: AT30,DF19 Inherent stats: +1A, +1D Paths usable: Independent, Dark Great Dragon (+9,+5) Phoenix (+6,+4) Serpent (+6,+3) Jormungandr (+6,+8) Scyillia Kraken (+6,+4) Lich (+6,+1) Vampire Lord (+5,+8) Succubus (+4,+4) Stone Golem (+5,+10) If Spnt-Phnx-GrtDgn, stats = 51,31 If Spnt-Krkn-VamLd, stats = 47,34 If Lich-Scbs-VamLd, stats = 45,32 Vampire Lord is a very good class, but you can go Great Dragon too. Going Vampire Lord via Lich and Succubus give Esto more MP than going via Serpent and Kraken, which gives slightly higher stat totals. =============================================================================== 4.15 Osto Starting stats: AT24,DF20 Inherent stats: +1A Paths usable: Independent, Dark Great Dragon (+9,+5) Phoenix (+6,+4) Kerberos (+7,+3) Master Dino (+10,+5) Werewolf Minotaur (+7,+4) Dullahan (+4,+6) Stone Golem (+5,+10) Living Armor (+6,+5) Vampire Lord (+5,+8) If Kbs-Mnt-MstrDn, stats = 48,32 If Dlhn-Mnt-MstrDn, stats = 45,35 If Kbs-Mnt-StnGlm, stats = 43,37 If Dlhn-Mnt-StnGlm, stats = 40,40 Vampire Lord can work here, but Osto has too few MP. Stone Golem or Master Dino would be better. As a Stone Golem, Osto can take out nearly everything, and is perfect to use against Leon. If going Master Dino, I suggest going via Phoenix, as Phoenix gets the gargoyle troop. =============================================================================== 4.16 Sonya Starting stats: AT26,DF17 Inherent stats: +1Mov Paths usable: Imperial, Independent, Dark General (+7,+7) Swordman (+8,+3) Assassin (+7,+3) Sword Master (+9,+6) Knight Mage (+4,+3) Silver Knight (+6,+2) Archmage (+3,+4) --> Wizard (+2,+1) Highlander (+7,+4) Knight Master (+10,+5) --> Royal Guard (+4,+0) If SlvrKnt-Hilndr-KntMstr-RylGd, stats = 53,28 If Asn-Mage-Archmage-Wiz, stats = 42,28 If Erwin and Osto are not a horseman class, Sonya might want to go Royal Guard. However, Wizard is a much better choice. =============================================================================== 4.17 Lana light Starting stats: AT21,DF18 Inherent stats: +1A Paths usable: Light Dragon Lord (+10,+4) Saint (+5,+5) Cleric (+3,+3) Sage (+6,+5) --> Princess (+3,+1) Sister Priest (+4,+4) Sorcerer (+3,+2) High Priest (+5,+4) --> Agent (+1,+2) Mage (+4,+3) Archmage (+3,+4) --> Wizard (+2,+1) If Sor-Mage-Archmage-Wiz, stats = 33,28 If Clr-Prst-HiPrst-Agent, stats = 34,31 If Clr-Snt-Sage-Prncss, stats = 38,32 If Sor-Prst-Sage-Prncss, stats = 37,30 Princess, Agent and Wizard are all good, depending on what Liana and Hein is. Volandum: Consider Sorcerer -> Priest -> Sage -> Princess for Lana (Light) It's got weaker stats than the path you've outlined, but has the advantage of the Priest's Freiya and Heal2 spells. Good suggestion.
