Introduction --- [1000] =============================================================================== Terminator 2 was created for the Sega Master System. Obviously, the game is based upon the hit movie released earlier. Terminator 2 is a side scrolling action game. You are against a large group of enemy forces and your one single objective is to protect John Connor at all costs. =============================================================================== --- 2. FAQ --- [2000] =============================================================================== +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ [Q] The first boss is impossible. How do you beat him? [A] To defeat him, you need to use hit & run tactics to take him out. If you use the conventional method, he will simply knock the crap out of you. To hurt him without getting hurt yourself, simply hit and run away. The big lug won't be fast enough to hurt you. If you do this, you should lose no health at all! +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ [Q] I can't defeat that weird guy. He keeps regenerating. How? [A] That's T1000 and the first time you will see him is when you are rescuing Sarah Conner. Don't worry, you can't defeat him. Avoid him the best you can. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ [Q] Why is my guy punching instead of shooting? [A] There are two possible solutions. The first one is that you are probably in the beginning of the game where you aren't armed! Also, you might be out of ammo. When you run out of ammo, you cannot shoot until you find some ammunition salvos. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ =============================================================================== --- 3. Character List --- [3000] =============================================================================== Terminator Series 800 Model 101 ~ =-----------------------------= If you haven't yet noticed, this is your main character. You are a cyborg created by Cyberdyne that has been sent in time to rescue a certain military commander by the name of John Connor as a child. He must be protected from the T1000 which has been sent back in time also to kill the young commander. John Connor ~ =---------= John Connor is the young military commander you are charged with protecting. Although arrogant, he is a very important figure who's termination might bring an end to all mankind. Sarah Connor ~ =----------= John Connor's mother. Although your mission wasn't to rescue her, John had demanded. She also plays an important role in the survival of John Connor. T1000 ~ =---= T1000 is the newest development by the Cyberdyne corporation. Capable of morphing shape into anything it might like, it is a very powerful adversary. The T1000 was sent back in time to assasinate John Connor, but the plan was foiled by you. Watch your back as T1000 will quite possibly be lurking around. =============================================================================== --- 4. Walkthrough --- [4000] =============================================================================== Ten years ago, They sent a machine from the future to get Sarah Conner. It failed... Now they have a new target. The future leader of the resistance. Her son John. The battle for tommorow begins today. ============== [-------------------------------- Truck Area ---------------------------------] ============== You start off the game with no weapons but not to worry, we'll get some soon. Anyhow, walk forward a little bit and lure out the single henchman on the ground. The one on top of the truck can't hurt you at the moment. Take him out quickly (Note that he's no match for you). Now, to get on top of the truck, jump on the white platform to the right of the wheel, follow up by jumping to platform holding the tank to your right and then jump on top of the truck's front. From there, simply jump onto the top. Defeat the henchman up here and get back to the bottom. Continue. * Note: To avoid losing health, try to engage only one henchman at a time. If you choose to attack more than one, the other will get a few hits on you. If you feel you are overwhelmed, run away and lure a single henchman towards you. This strategy saves a lot of health. You will reach a more open area where two or three more henchmen will drop in. Around this time, a motorcycle might come rolling in. Since you can't destroy those, jump onto the nearest truck to avoid them completely. Continue after killing off the remaining henchmen. You will pass two backward facing trucks followed by a sideways truck. Two more henchmen will appear from the top of it. Defeat them both and continue killing off any other henchmen in your way. You will pass some more backwards facing trucks. More henchmen appear so make your moves carefully. Keep going this way until you reach a truck facing sideways that appears to be carrying some orange packages. Defeat the two henchman on that truck and continue. Following the truck are a group of three henchmen which will pop out the backdrop. Carefully defeat them using hit & run tactics to avoid losing health. Further past that will be the entrance to the bar area where John Connor is located. =========== [--------------------------------- The Bar -----------------------------------] =========== Now that we're in the bar it's time to look for those weapons and of course, John Connor. Make your way forward again and meet some more henchmen. Defeat the four that will appear to advance. Following are a group of thugs who will appear from behind the bar counter. Stand to the left of the counter and wait for them to appear. Let them run to you and defeat them until the arrow in the upper right hand corner appears. Advance forward. A huge thug will appear. Boss Fight: Thug ~ =--------------= This thug is fairly easy if you know just what to do. First of all, note that he's slow and very large. Obviously, you move faster than him. Instead of taking him on directly and get killed in five seconds, use hit & run tactics. Strike him and immediately jump back before the huge lug hits you back. Repeat and you should kill him easily without losing any health. You have located John Connor as well as acquiring some boots, clothes, a motorcycle, and best of all, a weapon. Also, a conversation will follow between the terminator and Connor. John Connor will demand to locate his mother and the Terminator agrees. Your new objective is to locate Sarah Connor. ================ [------------------------------ Sarah Connor ---------------------------------] ================ As soon as the level begins, an enemy will appear. Shoot him quickly with your newly acquired weapon. When that's done, locate the elevator on this level. If you don't want any powerups, continue up. However, you should check the other doors for some goodies which you will probably want. However, keep in mind that whenever you enter a door, some enemies will appear. When you have opened both doors (if you chose to), head up the elevator to the second level. From this point, you can either take the elevator up again or explore the other doors. Continue to do this as you continue up. Take the elevator all the way to the top level while avoiding enemies. * Note: Keep in mind that T1000 is constantly appearing throughout the level. You can be sure when you are engaging with T1000 as he will appear to teleport in and out. Don't try to defeat him. Instead, avoid him the best you can. At the top level, there are many doors. By now, you probably have met T1000. He will frequent this top level. Immediately run to your right avoiding T1000's fire. Sarah Connor is in one of the doors on this level. The door you are looking for is roughly three doors to the right of the elevator. Don't count the black doors as they cannot be opened. When you find her, walk up to her to complete the level. Sarah Connor has been rescued. Now your objective is to destroy Cyberdyne. ============= [-------------------------------- Cyberdyne ----------------------------------] ============= Okay, let's get a feel of where we are before we do anything. First of all, you need to find these orange barrels throughout this level. There are five levels in all. The fifth level contains a "Deposit" container which requires 10 barrels. Find these barrels in the many doors scattered throughout the level. As far as I can see, these barrels regenerate in random locations. However, expect there to be about two barrels on each level. Watch out for enemy security guards and such. Also keep in mind the ceiling guns. When one fires, stop, and avoid the shot. To move from one level to another, head to the elevator and choose the level of your choice. Before you move to the second floor however, locate all the barrels on the first floor. Check everywhere and make sure you do not miss anything. Watch out for the security guards and locate all the barrels. When you pick up three, deposit them at the fifth floor, then continue your search. You cannot carry more than three barrels. Look out for energy and ammo powerups throughout the rooms. * Note: There are an unlimited amount of enemies in the rooms with the barrels. Don't try to waste ammo and kill only those which you need to. Also, save the energy and ammo powerups for when you need them. * Note: There is one orange barrel that is outside of the rooms. If you are missing just one, check the rightmost side of the second floor as a barrel is found there. Upon depositing all 10 of the requisites, you will need to place all the charged barrels in key locations on the upper floor in the destruction of Cyberdyne. You can carry a maximum of two barrels at a time. Follow the arrows on screen. When it points down, it either means to enter a door or to press down on the control pad, thus, placing a bomb. You have 80 seconds to do this which isn't nearly enough time. If you still have three Terminators remaining, you are in luck as when you lose one of them, the timer resets. Place all 10 of the barrels in their rightful location and head down the elevator. You will lose control of the Terminator as he escapes the building. You have recovered the Terminator relics. Now is the time to destroy them and completely avoid Judgement Day altogether. ================= [------------------------------- Heated Finale -------------------------------] ================= From the start, immediately head up the steps. If you are having trouble, just hold both the up and right button on the control pad. Watch the hot liquid flying down and continue making your way right. Jump over the barrels and avoid the steam. Advance and you will find another set of steps leading up. Instead going up like your instincts might tell you however, take the set of stairs down. Advance to your right by jumping over the molten metal pools. If you fall in one, you lose one Terminator so I'd suggest you try your best. When you reach solid ground again after jumping a bunch of platforms, advance right and jump over the barrels. Here, you will notice a strange warping human. Yep, you guessed it. It's T1000. Boss Fight: T1000 (first battle) ~ =------------------------------= This fight is fairly easy. Although T1000 is armed with his own weapon, he seems to prefer to hit you rather than shoot you. Anyhow, shooting him two times will cause him to melt to the floor. However, he will get up so that's pretty useless. Keep shooting him and let him melt around a few times to defeat him. However, he isn't dead just yet... Now that that's done, begin backtracking and head left. Jump over the molten pits without falling in unless you want to spell end to one Terminator. Keep going until you reach the set of steps you descended. Ascend two sets of steps. If you want an energy powerup, head to your left and jump the gap. Pick it up and return. If you don't need it, simply ascend the next set of steps. Once at the top level, look around. There doesn't appear to be anywhere you can go. However, head to the right-most side of the platform and wait for the moving platform. Jump on it and let it take you to the end. Jump off the moving platform and walk to the end of this suspended metal pathway. It appears to be a dead end at the end, but if you jump off forward, you will land on another pathway a bit lower. Avoid the bits of molten metal and walk to the end of this next platform. This time, there are two platforms ahead of you. The top one can't be jumped too right now so jump to the lower platform. Continue along this one as well. There are some stairs on this metal walkway. Ascend the two set of staircases and prepare yourself again as T1000 makes his second appearance. Boss Fight: T1000 (second battle) ~ =-------------------------------= T1000 hasn't really learned anything since we last defeated him a few minutes ago. Once again, stay away from his lunges and punches and unleash your bullets on him to easily melt him again. Now, make your way atop the barrels to your left. Jump over the molten pool of metal avoiding the steam from the broken pipe. Keep heading in that direction and you will notice some green machines hanging from the ceiling. These create steam which hurts you so avoid them by passing under them while they aren't puffing steam. Keep moving until you reach a conveyor belt. It would normally be easy to pass but a leaking platform above is dropping molten metal onto it. Step onto the conveyor belt and avoid the material. You will find yourself before a large gap. If you fall down, you will either land on some lower platform and have to make your way back up here or land in some molten metal pit which will spell end to one Terminator. Make the longest jump you possibly can to make the gap. Right after the gap is a conveyor belt. Again, avoid the dropping embers and make your way past it. You will come to two sets of steps. One leads down and one leads up. There's nothing to the south so take the stairs up. From there, begin heading left again where a set of barrels are awaiting. Jump on them and wait for the moving platform to reach you. Jump on the platform and allow it to take you to the next platform. Jump off and continue to your right. While moving this way, you will notice some higher platforms and a moving platform which you can't reach. Instead of trying to get up there, continue to your right where a bunch of barrels are stacked. Slowly make your way down these barrels. However, beware of the molten metal pool just before it. Jump over it and continue. Ahead are some more steam generators. There is also a conveyor belt that is moving backwards. Slowly avoid the first steam generator and get on the conveyor belt. Since it's moving backwards, you might have some trouble clearing the second steam generator. Don't worry as the steam does little damage anyway. Continue forward and you will notice some turbines spinning away. Head all the way to the end and find some barrels. Jump on the first set and make your way to platforms above. Avoid the broken pipe and jump onto the first platform. Then jump right to the next platform. Finally, jump back left to the higher platform. Go up the steps here. Continue and head up the next set of steps after that. You will be up pretty high. continue to your left and get onto the barrels just before the molten liquid. The gap here is too big to jump so you will need the aid of the moving platform in the middle of it. When it reaches its lowest, jump on it and quickly jump to the next immobilized platform. This one doesn't move so once you land on it, you are safe. There is another platform that is moving ahead of you. Wait for it to get close to you and jump on it. Be careful not to fall! This final moving platform will take you to a drop-off. It appears to be a dead end but if you strain your eyes a little, you will note an immobilized orange platform below. Aim for it and jump onto it. If you want an energy powerup, jump from that platform to the orange platform on your right. Continue that way and jump the gap to find one. However, if you do collect it, you will need to redo all the ground you have done from the point you dropped off. If you think that's too much trouble, just jump to the metal platform to your left. Walk it to the end and locate the moving platform. Be very careful not to fall as you will land on the level below. If you happen to do that, you will need to redo about five minutes worth of moving back up! Anyhow, let the platform carry you to the other side. Walk over to the stairs and ascend both of them. Again, make your way left while avoiding the steam clouds. At the end is a non-moving orange platform. Jump onto it and then jump onto the platform to the right. Well what do you know? More stairs. Head up once again and head to the right. You will note another metal platform a bit below to your front. Jump to it and continue forward. Locate the next set of stairs and go up once again! Now, there are two ways to continue. You can either ascend the next set of stairs to an upper platform which you can jump to your next platform from or you can simply jump to the next platform. I would suggest the first as you will clear the conveyor belt which the embers are dropping onto. Advance. At the end of your current platform, you will find another immobilized orange platform. Jump onto it and make your way to the top of the barrel stack. From the barrels, jump left to the next metal platform with the staircase. Be very careful not to fall so you won't have to redo much of this level. Head up these next sets of stairs to reach an even higher platform! This next part of the level requires a lot of precision so prepare yourself. Note the moving orange platform ahead of you. Jump onto it just as it passes closest to you. This is hard but it isn't the hardest part. That follows very shortly as the orange platform stops far away from the platform you need to get onto. Wait until the platform reaches farthest left and quickly jump left onto the platform. You will probably fail more often than you'd like. It's very frustrating and even I have trouble with it. It's more luck than skill here. When you finally do reach the end, ascend the next set of steps. From the top of the orange platform, jump left to the next. In the background, you will see a giant pot pouring molten metal below. Hop across the platforms and jump to the lower metal platform when you see it. We are stuck here until we defeat a certain someone, T1000. If you are lucky, T1000 will appear immediately. However, there is a chance that he won't appear as quickly. If that happens, just jump around a lot. Boss Fight: T1000 (final battle) ~ =------------------------------= This is actually pretty hard! This time, T1000 cannot be defeated as easily. Shoot him and punch him all you want but he won't disappear. No, you will have to push him off the metal platform by shooting him off or punching him off. The best way to do this is to lure him to the edge and then release your bullets on him. If you maintain rapid fire, T1000 will move back rapidly. If you are out of ammo, I'd suggest letting yourself die. You should still have two Terminators remaining. Push him in to end him forever. Upon defeating T1000, an orange platform will mobilize and begin floating over your current position. Jump onto it and use it to jump to the previously unreachable orange platform to your left. Jump onto it and continue along. Hop to the next metal platform and continue this way where John Connor and Sarah Connor await. Congratulations on completing the game! Now sit back, relax, and enjoy the ending. =============================================================================== --- 5. Ending --- [5000] =============================================================================== Upon finishing the game, you will get a rather touching conversation that is a total knockoff from the movie. If you haven't seen the movie or defeated the game, I strongly suggest against reading this section. John will explain that is is finally over but you disagree. The Terminator tells John that there is one more thing to do. John Connor must terminate the Terminator as that one last chip must be destroyed. Following is a picture of the Terminator hanging on a chain being dropped into the molten metal to destroy the final chip once and for all. "The future is not set. There is no fate but what we make ourselves" THE END =============================================================================== --- 6.
