My urge to cover more SMS FAQs however has never wavered and that is why I'm back today in the newest SEGA Master System Completion Project which is hosted on the FAQ Contributors - General Board. I started with the Back to Future games, which inspired me to take on another movie game as my third project, which is one of the reasons you're reading this Rambo III FAQ. I'm not going to list a detailed walkthrough as it isn't mandatory for this type of game. It is just meant to learn you how to play the game and reach the end. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 2- Gameplay [A200] =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =============================================================================== 2.1- Story [A201] =============================================================================== He's back! Now, live the movie Rambo III on your Sega System! Colonel Trautman has been captured by the Soviet forces in Afghanistan. The C.I.A. is ready to leave him there. They are afraid a rescue mission will cause an international incident. You don't care what it causes. Trautman is your friend... and you're going in to get him back! For weapons you have a Sega Light Phaser with the power of an AK-47 and the blast of a hand grenade. But the Soviets know you are coming and they're armed and waiting! Gunship helicopters. Spetsnaz troopers. Their meanest fighters. But you're Rambo, the eternal warrior. If anyone can beat the odds and rescue Trautman, it's you. But this battle won't be easy. After all, you're the one they called expendable... =============================================================================== 2.2- How To Play [A202] =============================================================================== The game is a fairly simple Light Gun shooter consisting out of seven levels, with each level getting progressively harder. For instance, the first level only contains regular soldiers while hostages start appearing in the second level which you need to save - by not shooting them! - and the last level contains different choppers and tanks which take a lot of hits. During this time you need to be able to shoot your enemies as fast as possible because otherwise they'll pose a threat to your health. That health meter is the only thing you really need to pay attention. You have a limited number of ammunition, but it isn't a problem if you run out of ammo. You can still shoot. Having munition left over only gives you a bonus for your high score, which is the most important thing in this game. Your score is determined by the amount of enemies killed and the amount of ammo and health you have leftover. Keep these things in mind when going for the score. The levels will continuously scroll so any enemy that you miss will live, which means it isn't a problem if you miss an enemy. During the game you need to focus your attention on the enemies closest to you as they have the heaviest fire power. Smaller enemies in the background can be left for later. That is the only important strategy you need to remember. The enemies don't have any weak points, head shots don't matter and your only extra weapon - the grenade - hasn't an important use. The only thing besides the enemies and your health you need to pay attention to are the ammo boxes that appear regularly on screen. Hit them and you'll get extra ammo and grenades which you can use to raise your high score, which is the most important part. So essentially, you're playing a slightly more interactive version of Duck Hunt that can be finished in less than ten minutes.
