Introduction ID#010 ******************************************************************************* Hello, hello. I'm BlitzBoy and this is my forth FAQ. I've owned a Sega Master System since I was a six and I've loved playing on it. Here in New Zealand, we were more of a Sega country than a Nintendo country so SMS and SMD were all the rage and the NES and SNES were pretty much unheard of. Mickey Mouse's Land of Illusion was my favourite game of the console. It was a fun platformer that had a lot of what makes a good platformer today. I decided to make a FAQ that lists the location of all 14 Power Stars in the game as well as provide a little bit of information about them. I've included handy little ID numbers along the sides of each section so you can jump to them with ease using the "Find" command (CRTL + F). Hope you find the guide useful and please feel free to email me with any feedback or corrections. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* III. General Information ID#100 ******************************************************************************* --------------------- What are Power Stars? --------------------- Power Stars are Mickey's health. When Mickey is hurt by an enemy or the enviroment, one of Mickey's Power Stars fades out. When all of Mickey's Power Stars fade out, he loses a Try and has to restart the stage from last checkpoint. Mickey starts his adventure with two Power Stars and can have a maximum of five Power Stars to be used as his health. After he has five Power Stars, any more he collects after that award him with another Try. Also, whenever Mickey Collects a Power Star, his health is restored to maximum. ---------------------- Where can I find them? ---------------------- There is one Power Star on each stage which comes to a total of 14. They are usually hidden and require you to go out of your way to collect them. Some of them require special items to reach so you may need to return to the stage later when you have acquired that item. ------------------------------------------- What bonuses do I get from collecting them? ------------------------------------------- Apart from the extra health and Tries you get for collecting them, you get 1,000,000 bonus points for collecting all 14 Power Stars at the end of the game. A necessity if you're going for a high score. ----------- A small tip ----------- Rather than making your way to the end of the stage after collecting the Power Star, you can pause the game and use your Magic Flute to exit the stage without losing the star. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* IV. The Power Stars ID#200 ******************************************************************************* Here is the list of Power Stars. I've sorted them by stage and have included a description of where they are located, how to get to them and any items that are required. ------------ Forest Stage ------------ ITEMS REQUIRED: Rope LOCATION: When climbing the tower in the second part of the stage, you'll see a few doors on the way up. It is located in the room on the first level of the tower. When entering the room, you'll see that you can you can climb up to a hidden part of the room. The Power Star is in this hidden room. ---------- Lake Stage ---------- ITEMS REQUIRED: None LOCATION: This can only be collected after completing Blacksmith's Castle stage and therefore causing the water at the lake to rise. Enter the passage in the middle of the stage that has the vines and windwhirls. The water level at the second breathing stop has risen which leads to a hidden room with the Power Star. ------------------------- Blacksmith's Castle Stage ------------------------- *WARNING: As this stage cannot be reentered after having completed it, it is important that you collect the Power Star the first time through* ITEMS REQUIRED: None LOCATION: After jumping over the first lava pit and climbing the ladder, you'll see the Power Star to the right of the room. Simply pick up the giant spring, place it closer to high ledge and use it to jump over to it. ------------------ Castle Ruins Stage ------------------ ITEMS REQUIRED: Rope LOCATION: After having jumped over the spike pit right at the start of the stage, you'll see a high ledge with the Power Star on it. Simply climb up the ledge to it. --------------- Tiny Hill Stage --------------- ITEMS REQUIRED: Rope, Shrink Powder LOCATION: Once reaching the end on the stage, instead of entering the ending door, climb the left-hand wall. You'll find the Power Star tucked up there. ------------------ Flower Field Stage ------------------ ITEMS REQUIRED: Shrink Powder LOCATION: After travelling over the mouse-eating plants, you'll notice that there are several flowers that go quite high up. Jump up there and you'll see a butterfly coming from the right and travelling to the left. Shrink and butt-jump onto the butterfly. Now using the butterfly, juggle towards the left and you'll soon come across the Power Star high up in a flower. ------------------ Toy Workshop Stage ------------------ *WARNING: As this stage cannot be reentered after having completed it, it is important that you collect the Power Star the first time through* ITEMS REQUIRED: None LOCATION: After passing the first lot of water guns, you'll find yourself at a door with the Power Star to the left of you but blocked off. Enter the door, travel over the keyboard and enter the door you find there. Carefully make your way over the spike pits and you'll reach the Power Star. ------------------ Palace Ruins Stage ------------------ ITEMS REQUIRED: Rope LOCATION: When you reach the third exploding bolder (the ones that release a few rocks when they explode), you'll note a ladder that leads upwards. Climb the ladder and then climb the wall of the room up there. This is much like the Power Star of Forest Stage. ------------------- Craggy Cliffs Stage ------------------- ITEMS REQUIRED: Rope LOCATION: This is at the very beginning of the stage. Climb the first wall and turn around. You'll see a vulture going around in a circle. Using you're butt-attack, jump on the vulture to propel yourself to the Power Star located to the left. ------------ Desert Stage ------------ ITEMS REQUIRED: None LOCATION: Enter the pyrimid. Right at the end of the pyramid area, next to the door that leads is a hidden passage that leads to the boss. After using the key to unlock the door, go back up the ladder and get another key. Head to where the boss's door is and place the key and use it to jump onto the bit of the left wall that sticks out. Walk to the left and you'll end up in a hidden room with the Power Star. ---------------------------- Good Princess's Castle Stage ---------------------------- *WARNING: As this stage cannot be reentered after having completed it, it is important that you collect the Power Star the first time through* ITEMS REQUIRED: None LOCATION: At the end of the first area, you'll find two doors. Take the top door and make it to the end of the area. The Power Star is right there. ----------------- Sand Castle Stage ----------------- *WARNING: As this stage cannot be reentered after having completed it, it is important that you collect the Power Star the first time through* ITEMS REQUIRED: Rope LOCATION: When you reach the pool with the electric fish, you'll climb the wall on the left-hand side of the screen. It's quite tall but at the top of it is the Power Star. ------------ Island Stage ------------ ITEMS REQUIRED: Bean, Cloud Shoes LOCATION: Plant the bean and climb to the very top of the beanstalk. When at the top, jump across to the cloud to the left of the end door. Jump off this cloud to the left. You'll see a few smaller clouds underneath it, one carrying the Power Star. Land on the cloud and the star is yours. ---------------------- Phantom's Castle Stage ---------------------- *NOTE: This is the last stage. Make sure you've collect all of the other Power Stars before proceeding.* ITEMS REQUIRED: None LOCATION: Right at the start of the stage, you have a choice of three doors to go through. Take the third door. Make your way through this area. Be careful as the lava will take you out immediately if you land in it. At the end of the area you'll find the Power Star. Grab it, and you're done, Power Star-wise. Congratulations! ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* V.
