------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------ [ CYBORG Z ] ----------------------------- ---------------------------------[by Ice Queen Zero]--------------------------- --------------------------------- [ Master System ]---------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also released on the MSX. o---------------------o INTRODUCTION o---------------------o Three games left folks for the Sega Master System and two of them I've claimed including this one. All three are Korean-releases and so far Cyborg Z and Eagles 5 are some unforgiving games but I'll help you out to the best I can. It doesn't help that both games are made by Zemina. o---------------------o DISCLAIMER o---------------------o Cyborg Z and its characters are trademarks of Zemina and all copyrights belong to them. This FAQ/Walkthrough is the sole copyright of Andrea "Azul Fria" Castillo aka IceQueenZer0 and can't be put on other sites or posted without given permission nor can it be reproduced w/o proper consent. o---------------------o STORY o---------------------o You are a mere cyborg who has been sent on a mission across eight stages. o---------------------o CONTROLS o---------------------o D-pad = Move around the playing field Button 1 = Shoot Button 2 = Switch Weapon o---------------------o WEAPONS o---------------------o You start off with normal shots and access to all other weapons though they have limited number of uses (except for the fist) but you can gather weapons of the matching icon to replenish those weapons. The max number of weapons is 99. Shot = default weapon which fires a small shot forward. Fist = fires both fist forward and has unlimited use. Laser = fires twin lasers and are more powerful than the normal shot. Missile = fires a single missle forward and when it comes in contact with an enemy or top of the screen, it will explode and cause damage to all enemies caught in the blast. Vulcan = I'm just calling it a vulcan since the icon and weapon is shaped like a V. You fire two of them forward and they cover a wide range. Shield and Wave = A ball orbits your character and you can shoot soundwaves. o---------------------o ITEMS o---------------------o Rockets = makes you move faster. Can have up to three. Pills = protects you against one hit. Can have up to three. Blue Package = turns you grey, impervious to damage. Red Package = turns you red, impervious to damage and can cause collison damage. Star = kills all onscreen enemies Heart = extra life. o---------------------o GAMEPLAY o---------------------o Stage 1: Canyon The first part of the game is all about avoiding collision with enemies as they will not shoot at you for the time being. Concentrate on collecting power-ups and weapons. When you reach the first miniboss, it will fly in a very awkward pattern. It will move along the top then come down and zigzag to the bottom then move to the left and zigzag to the top and repeat. Stay in line with it as you avoid it shots and kill it with your lasers. From here on out, the enemies begin shooting at you. They move in the same old patterns you saw before but you'll neet some new enemies especially ones thats that will explode into bullets when destroyed. The first boss is a western cowboy cyborg that sends out birds from its belly that fly around the room in circles. Attack the cowboy as you avoid the bullets the birds shoot at you. It takes several hits to destroy the cowboy but you can also kill the birds to give you some breathing room. Whenever the hole in the abdomen opens, more birds will fly out. Keep up the assault until the boss is defeated. Just remember that it only takes damage when the hole is open. You go to a bonus round after clearing a stage to try and hit the yellow part of the spinning wheel for an extra item. Succeed and you can select which of the powerups you want then shoot again. Hit a red and the bonus chance ends. ----- Stage 2: City This level starts to raise the bar as the pods where most weapons are stored now shoot at you. New enemies consists of branches that rain down on you and also some helicopters that fly down in set intervals. The midboss moves across the bottom first then zigzags to the top. Stay level with it and destroy it with your missiles as they destroy its shots. Prior to facing the second boss, the only new enemy to worry about are the black twigs that move back and forth on the top of the screen. They are very fast and it's best to use missiles as the explosive properties can nail them if the missile reaches the top of the screen. Boss #2 is a Medusa looking cyborg with a serpent's lower torso. It travels back and forth while shooting all kinds of projectiles at you like lightning, pellets and sometimes lasers. The trick here is to stay level with it and then shoot it with all the missiles you got then finish it off by shooting sonars at it until its defeated. Towards its demise, it will only start shooting lightning bolts and nothing else. ----- Stage 3: Desert The stage starts off with those black twigs from last stage. Soon they are then followed by black sandworms that fly in a unique pattern but leaves off after a while. Other notable enemies are red monkeys that hop up and down in arches as well as , black plants, and blue discs that don't seem to be that much of a harm as their attack patterns are something you have seen throughout the first two stages. I never mention the bats in any level since they change color in each stage and do the same old thing and that's flap and swoop down. They seem to always appear before facing a boss or miniboss. Same for the exploders that I mentioned who rains pellets upon death. The miniboss moves is a very difficult pattern. Arm your missiles and wait for it to make its way to the very right then fly above and to the left of it and you'll have some breathing space to attack it as it makes its way back to its original position. The third boss looks like a mummy. It attacks by moving back and forth as it rains down two wraps and shoots a miniature wrap. Arm your Vulcans and shoot at it when its head is raised (you will see its two eyes). The Vulcan will destroy everything it throws at you thus giving you a safe edge in the fight. ----- Stage 4: Oasis New enemies here are: jellyfish, stingrays, cannonballs that fly in loops, and saucers. Nothing special here so I'll skip to the miniboss. It is shaped like a giant jellyfish and it fights the same way as the first miniboss except its pattern flows the other way. That means it starts off on the leg then zigzags to the bottom then moves to the right and zigzag to the top and moves to the left and repeats. When it zigzags to the top, get close to it and rapidly plug Vulcan shots into it. I have no idea how to describe the fourth boss. It attacks by shooting small bubbles then it will rain bubbles when its crown is open. By the way, the only way to do damage to it is when its crown is open so conserve your weaponry until the opportunity to attack comes then take it. ----- Stage 5: Jungle Lots of insects will attack in this level. It's best to use your fist weapon in this level that way you can hit enemies that fly into them on the way back to you. The midboss is a giant cockroach whose flight pattern is weird. Hit it with your rockets when it is on the top. The fifth boss is a head with a body that extends like a snake and follows the head around. It moves in a figure-eight pattern. The more damage you do to it, the more segments of its body it will send at you and get faster. Soon all the segments will be gone. The best weapon to use is the Vulcan or Fist. The latter can catch him while in mid-flight easily. ----- Stage 6: Mountains You are now up in the mountains and you'll meet some strange new enemies such as the skulls and black tornadoes. The fleet enemies for this level look like snow- flakes. The exploders strangely show up early in this level as opposed to near the end of the level. You also meet a type of ship that zigzags down to the bottom. The midboss is a strange looking bat that will fly around the bottom area then occasionally swoop in. Use Vulcans on it rapidly when close. The sixth boss is a deadly dragon that can kill you instantly with a big breath of fire regardless of extra energy. Stay away from being directly below it when it breaths the big stream of fire. However, if you have plenty of lives left and can afford to lose one, get yourself killed and take advantage of your temporary invincibility upon respawning and rapidly attack it with the Vulcan and it can be over quickly. ----- Stage 7: Circuit Board The stage looks like a giant circuit board. With that in mind, the enemies are themed just like that. You have a school of microchips that trickle down on the side of the stage and you also got transformers, transistors, and modules. This is one of the toughest levels up to this point. The midboss is a game controller that flies around strangely. If you get killed and have an extra life left, then rapidly shoot it with a powerful weapon. The seventh boss is a computer desktop + monitor. Early in the fight try to stay just slightly to the right of the middle of the computer and a little further back and shoot Vulcans at it. As it takes damage, the computer screen will crack and will stop shooting lasers. Finish it off quickly. I have a feeling that the next level which is the last is going to be tougher than this one. ----- Stage 8: Space This is it. The last level and it's probably be more hell than Stage 7. Enemies here are now out in full force so you better bring your A game with you. The new enemies are diamonds, bats, luminous flies, and the midboss looks like a Buddha statue. It moves a little bit faster than most of the midbosses you have fought before. I hate that there are way to many bullets to dodge in this round and the cruel part of this whole game is that if you run out of lives it is back to the start of the level especially when you reach the boss. The final boss is tough. It is looks like a giant version of yourself and it'll shoot small gears and big ones. The big ones will spiral if you don't destroy them fast enough. Break out your Vulcan or any other powerful weapon and try to stay alive as long as possible. You are more than likely screwed if you came to this fight on your last life. If you got any to spare then sacrifice them then use the invincibility on respawn to take it out. o---------------------o CREDITS o---------------------o GameFAQs and others for hosting You for reading Zumina for making the game o---------------------o CONTACT ME o---------------------o azulfria[at]hotmail[dot]com [at] = @ and [dot] = .
