I chose to write my FAQ on the Shining Force3 Premium Disk, because nobody else has. 1.1 Obtaining a Premium Disc ---------------------------- Its a pretty rare item- only available to those who bought all 3 scenarios and then sent away to Camelot for the Disk. Its no longer possible to get the Premium disk- the offer isn't running any more- so unless you find it in an auction, or at a second hand shop (Maybe not), you're out of luck. Please note, that I am NOT going to sell my premium disc, unless I get a VERY GENEROUS offer ($1000+). Then I might consider it, but no promises. 2.Mode Descriptions ------------------- I'll list the modes from Left to right, starting with the top row. 2.1 Character Viewer -------------------- Probably the most exciting feature in the PD. It lets you look at the 3D polygon models for every character from every scenario.. Thats a lot of characters! You are given freedom to rotate the model, zoom in and out, and watch their moves. It even lets you select all the costume/weapon variations for player characters. 2.2 Art Gallery --------------- Shows you artwork for every playable character in the game, as well as the main NPCs. Also has some promotional pictures, and some preliminary sketches of characters who didn't make it into the game, and magic. There's a pretty cool looking shark warrior in there.. Maybe he'll make it to ShF4! 2.3 Battle Mode --------------- If you have a save game from any other scenarios, you can load it up, and go through the all new set of battles with your choice of 12 from any shining force. The only limitation is that you are forced to take Synbios as your leader. You also don't need to select all 12 characters, and could, for example take on the battles with only the 3 leaders (Synbios, Medion and Julian).. Although you probably wouldn't get very far. 2.4 Data Creator and Character Namer ------------------------------------ It allows you to create a save game, asking questions regarding the syncronity system. After all the questions, you get to name every playable character, and if you want, you can use English text (3rd option from the bottom) 2.5 Movies ---------- It lets you watch all the movies from the games, together with the Japanese TV adverts. the movies include the intro for every scenario, both scenario 3 endings, an interview, and the adverts. 2.6 Sound test -------------- You can listen to the music, sounds effects, jingles, and voices for every scenario. It only contains the Japanese voices however, so if you want to hear some of the English battle cries, you'll have to get a US/PAL scenario 1. 3.Data Creation Guide --------------------- This can be a very useful option, if you don't want to play through the first 2 scenarios just to pick up a missed character, or get a different character (Equal instead of Kate, perhaps). When you enter the option, you'll be asked if you want to rename the 3 main characters. You can use English letters by using the 3rd blue option from the bottom. After you have named the characters, you'll be given a list of questions about the syncronity. These translate to: Q1: Did Heiward join the team? Q2: Was Garosh saved? Q3: Was Bernard untied? Q4: Did Airin join the team? Q5: Were all the refugees saved? Q6: Did the chicken in the train join your team? Q7: Did Noon join the team? Q8: Did Justice join the team? Q9: Did Horst join the team? Q10: Did Pen’s egg hatch? Q11: Did Pen join the team? Q12: Did Manupil join the team? Q13: Was Baby Dragon killed? Q14: Did Frank join the team? Q15: Did you take Fear’s key? Q16: Did Hagane join the team? Q17: Was Spirited killed? Q18: Did Walz join the team? Q19: Did Rock join the team? Q20: Did Bernard join the team? Q21: Was Stella killed? Q22: Was Hazuki saved? Q23: Did the chicken in Lineside join your team? Q24: Was Hedoba saved? Q25: Were the people in Elbesem saved? Q26: Was Hera saved? Q27: Was the thief saved? Q28: Was Robby revived? Q29: Did Arthur join the team? Q30: Did Penko join the team? Q31: Did Pappets join the team? Q32: Did you meet Unoma? Note: Questions 11, 19, 20 and 28 will only be available if you responded with YES to questions 10, 18, 3 and 25 respectively. Most of the questions have obvious results, except maybe Q21- answer NO to get Profound as a playable character. After the Questions, you can proceed to name EVERY party member, again you can use English characters, but the maximum length is 6 characters. 4.Battle Mode Guide ------------------- 4.1 Character Selection Advice ------------------------------ You can select between 1 and 12 characters. When you have the characters you want, press B to begin (If you select 12, you don't need to press B) The only restriction on the party is that you must have Synbios. Personally, I would take him anyway, but it can be annoying if you didn't level him up much (if he dies, you lose) I recomend that your characters be around Level 25 before you consider starting the battle mode. You can get level ups in the Taros dungeon, at the end of scenario3. If you are any lower than 25, you should be able to do the earlier battles, but will find it tough against the later opponents, especially Zeon and Dark Sol. Here is one of my favourite parties, but obviously it depends upon level and friendship. I do however, recommend that you take all the leaders, Gracia and a healer with plenty of MP and Aura. *Synbios (You have to have him, but tough anyway. Get good friendships with the other leaders for maximum damage) *Medion (High attack and good offensive spells. Again, get friendships with other leaders) *Julian (Same as Medion... For ALL Leaders I recommend using the Taros weapons) *Gracia (The shining beam can be helpful, but otherwise, use Gracia for backup healing) *Isabella (A good healer, equip her an MP recovering accessory, and give her 4 godess tears) *Hazuki (Equip with shuriken. Also the love spell is useful) *Khan (strong attack, and good supportive spells) *Marki (Probably the strongest magic user, other than Gracia) *Hayward (Archers can be useful to get out of trouble- see later) *Thousand (Nice attack, HP, movement. Plus Dragons are cool) *Spirited (Good attack, plus attack boosting friendships) *Profound (Similar to Spirited) NB1: Items can be given to the characters, but it has to be done in the main scenarios. Just give them all the stuff you want, as it won't be wasted in the PD. If you want to use Jane, you can't give her any items. NB2: To get Jane, complete scenario 3 without killing her in the final battle. You should get an ending showing Julian and Jane together. Then, Jane should be selectable. However, sometimes Jane doesn't appear, for some reason. You'll just have to complete it again. 4.2 Battle Tactics ------------------ 4.21 Mecha Kraken ----------------- Not a tricky battle at all. Your characters should each be able to take down a tentacle in one attack, and the tentacles can't hurt you much. If you have trouble on this battle, go and level up your party a lot. 4.22 3 Yasha ------------ The 3 Yasha are at the back, and there are also 4 ninjas, 2 on each side. The ninjas can be annoying because they have a long range, but they shouldn't cause much grief. Wait until the ninjas attack, kill them, and then advance on the Yasha, who shouldn't attack until you attack them (Or maybe if you go and stand near them). When you attack, 2 more ninjas appear, but concentrate on the yasha, as you should be able to finish them in one cycle. 4.23 6 Rainblood ---------------- Again, this should be an easy battle if you are high enough. Charge the rainblood and use magic attacks to hit them all. The only problems may arise if they confuse one of your characters, especially a strong character. Use antidote as soon as you can in this case. 4.24 The 4 of Bullzome ---------------------- Shouldn't be too hard with a good team. Remember to keep together, because they're going to be using summoning spells mostly. Don't send one person to try and draw them to you one by one, because that person will get attacked by all 4. The best advice is to move up slowly, in a group, and when they attack, concentrate on one at a time. You may need to use an Aura in this battle, but you regain MP between battles, so don't worry, use it freely. 4.25 Bullzome and 3 wizards --------------------------- Can be annoying, as the wizards aren't very eager to attack you. It isn't advisable to attack them in bullzome's range, as his laser eyes can be devastating on one character. Try to lure the wizards out by using archers, and magic. Once you've dealt with the wizards, it shouldn't be too hard to take down Bullzome, just charge him, and have your 3 best fighters (3 leaders) in the front line, healing only when necessary. After awhile, Bullzome stops using his area spells, and starts attacking with his claws, which should only do 1 damage. 4.26 Dark Dragon ---------------- TO BE COMPLETED 5.What's coming next? --------------------- What am I planning to write next? Maybe some guides, and additions to this one might happen in the future, after this is complete. I definitely have plans to: *-Add to this a complete list of characters for the viewer mode, but I need a bit more time to research this. *-do an FAQ/Guide for DC Furfighters soon after release. *-Do an FAQ/Guide for Saturn Panzer Dragoon Saga. 6.Aknowledgments/Credits ------------------------ Thanks to Florent: (Fabflo@easynet.fr) For Question translations and opinions SEGA: For all their consoles, especially the Saturn Camelot: For making the Shining Force series, and especially the PD(lets have a DC Shining Force 4 now!)
