A Novice's Guide 2 Operation MoonGate V1.2 ------------------------------------------ by Johnson Or This is my personal opinion on how 2 win w/ various VRs. These R suppposed 2 B good against human opponents or the CPU AI. EM me @ or johnson_or@hotmail.com if U have any comments. Anyhow, cybertroopers around the world, *ENERMY APPROCHING, GET READY!* TEMJIN ------ -while U'r walking 4ward, do a slide beamcutter 2 trip a dashing enermy. -throw a bomb & forward dash beamrifle into it. Good 4 evading enermy fire & do serious damage w/ the 2 big beam. -4ward/diagonal-4ward dash beamrifle. -hide behind your bomb & do machine-gun beamrifle shots. -throw a bomb, walk in2 it & immediately do a Gliding Ram. Don't havta wait 4 the weapon gauge 2 B full! (Not every1 know this) -use circular slice wisely. -VS Jaguarandi(bad luck): diagonal 4ward dash beamrifle 4 opening. Once knocked down, throw a bomb and machine-gun beamrifle behind the bomb. Use 4ward/diagonal 4ward dash if neccessary. If U'r good @ thrust-vectoring, do a diamond shaped vector around the arena & make use of your diag-4ward dash beamrifle attacks! -VS Z-Gradt: 2 crouch bombs 4 opening. Diagonal 4ward /side dash beamrifle until 1st transformation. Now this is the crucial point, wether U can finish Z-Gradt in the 1st transformatoion or not. Wait 'til it stops @ the corner, then position yourself so that U have Z-Gradt in between the corner. Do gliding ram so that U hit it at the moment it turns gold. U should then B @ the back of Z-gradt, outa the sweep arc of the big laser. Jump cancel qucikly & machine-gun Z-gradt 'til it blows up!!! VIPER II -------- -fly a circular pattern above your enermy's head. If U C him dash, hit w/ homing beam or even SLC Dive if weapon gauge is full! -if enermy doesn't move, cancel the jump behind him. Then: A)if enermy dash away, use 4ward dash homing beam or 4ward dash 7-way missiles. B)if enermy stays, circular slice. -walking vulcan is v.good! -crouch vulcan if U hava clear shoot or use moving crouch 2 sniper. -stand behind obsticles & fire your homing beam in good time! -standing/walking 7-way missiles. If enermy dashes, punish w/ homing beam. -VS Raiden: worth mention here b'cos standing lasers can reduce ViperII's energy 2 a few pixels. Walking into them means sudden death. Be aware! -VS Jaguarandi(bad luck again!): Diagonal 4ward dash homing beam 4 opening. standing 7-way missiles then homing beam. Walking vulcan other times. Warning: evade carefully. Any 2 hits & U're dead! Tips: side jump cancel R quite useful here. -VS Z-Gradt: fly around it & fire air homing beam/7-way missiles. @ 1st transformation, do standing homing beam, then 4ward/diagonal 4ward dash 7-way missiles. Standing/walking vulcan 'til U have homing beam. use it again. If can't finish in 1st transformation, SLC Dive in 2nd 2 finish. DORKAS ------ -use the infamous phalanx-hammer trap. -standing phalanx > 4ward dash fireball > standing hammer combo! -hide behind obsticles & phalanx/crouch hammer if U wana play chicken! -If U know your opponent 2 gona land near U, don't B afraid 2 eat a few shoots. Do Mega Spinning Hammer 2 punish!!! -VS Jaguarandi: diagonal 4ward dash phalanx 4 opening. Use lots of standing/ walking fireballs. Phalanx-hammer trap as much as U can! -VS Z-Gradt: standing hammer immediately. Face slightly left/right 2 Z-Gradt so that 1 side your standing phalanx will hit it. Diagonal 4ward dash + fireball/phalanx 'til 1st transformation. Press against Z-Gradt's back side & time the Mega Spinning Hammer so that your last swing hits it while it just turned gold. then use machine-gunned fireballs 2 finish. BELGDOR ------- -use the napalm-missile trap EXTENSIVELY!!! -NEVER get run out in your napalm guage 'cos if U leave the last blast then it recharges way faster! -if missiles run out, replace the trap temporary w/ the grenades. Actually if all your 4ward dash grenades connect, even Temjin/Apharmd will fall down. -4get about CC. Belgdor's CC is just far 2 weak. -VS Jaguarandi (v.unlikely): If U wana evade, then use side dash cencels. NEVER side dash attack Jag. Napalm is excellent 2 knock down a charging Jag. Use 4ward dash missiles w/ your thrust-vectoring wisely. -VS Z-Gradt. Standing missiles 2 open, then throw out a crouch napalm. Use *TWO* side dash cancels 2 evade 4lowed by a 4ward dash missile/napalm attack. @ 1st transformation, 4ward dash missiles 2 start off then *EMPTY* your grenade guage like mad. Then use the missiles again. If can't finish in 1st round, use 4ward dash missiles in 2nd 2 finish. 4 some reason napalm is not a v.good choice of weapon against Z-Gradt... BAL-BAS-BOW ----------- -use satellite laser/air mines combo! -standing ring-lasers will knock down any fools who stand in front of it (except of course Raiden's standing lasers!) -once knocked down an enermy, do a couple of crouch mines ASAP. -then if U wana stay on the ground, use side dash ring-lasers 2 block away most incoming fire, then as U C an enermy dashing, punish w/ forward dash handbits. -enermies cannot draw their melee weapons against your energy claw! -VS Jaguarandi: 4ward dash handbits 2 open. Once knocked down Jag, throw out as many mines as U can B4 he gets up. Satellite lasers/air mine combo should B enough 2 finish Jag. Warning: NEVER stay on the ground against Jag! -VS Z-Gradt: 4get about your ring-lasers. Satellite laser as much as U can, but make sure U have them right B4 the transforamtion. Throw out tons of mines then fire off your satellite lasers. Stand back & watch the 8 laser shoots connecting 2 the poor Z-Gradt 1 by 1, finishing him off! -row LOTS while U'r in the air! Apharmd ------- -use tongfers LOTS! Quick jump-cancel 2 realign & unfreeze. -tongfer cancels -single frame cancel: once U hava lock-on(any distance) then press all 4 buttons w/ a direction of your choice then IMMEDIATELY release the 4 buttons & press 1 of your weapons trigger. Shotgun is preferred b'cos U get a big 4 effect. Screen might seems 2 B jerky b'cos your dash speed is increased. -don't bother w/ rising tongfers 'cos they alwaz miss unless your enermy is AI or stupid. -Same as Raiden: don't B afraid 2 eat some ammo if U know U can tongfer your enermy. -walking speed is q.fast 4 Apharmd so don't dash, wait & TONGFER! -unless of course U wana pursue your enermy w/ the (diag)4ward dash shotgun. -landing opponent is an easy tongfer target. -VS Jaguarandi: Er, I never can defeat Jag w/ Apharmd. Mainly b'cos I like tongfering a lot & get punished by Jag's dashing bazooka after the tongfer. 4 some reason tongfer does not knock down Jag(like Raiden's standing lasers). Maybe Jag's armour is 2 tough. Any1? But if U had a bad tongfer day & got 2 fight Jag, the theory is as follows: Use more dash cancels than usual 2 evade Jag's bazooka. Use LOTS of bombs & play chicken... while U machine-gun Jag in the sanctury of your bomb shield. -VS Z-Gradt: 2 crouch bombs 2 open. Then side dash shotgun 2 evade 'til 1st transformation Now here's the fun bit... Apharmd is the only VR who can draw a normal melee attack against Z-Gradt! Press up *REALLY CLOSE* against Z-Gradt's back side & TONGFER! Do a couple of crouch bombs then U should have your tongfer back. USE IT! In some cases, the tongfers will miss b'cos U'r not close enough 2 Z-gradt & didn't do a sliding tongfer. That way U'll havta wait 'til the 2nd transformation... FEI-YEN ------- -use walking handbeams a lot! -crouch bowguns 2 force the enermy 2 dash away, then 4ward dash heartbeam! -chicken Fei-Yens can hide behind obsticles & fire crouch handbeam then heartbeam. Sniper w/ moving crouch bowgun. -fly above your enermy's head. If enermy dashed away, use air heartbeam. If enermy stays, cancel the jump behind enermy & circ-slice. If enermy dashes @ this stage, 4ward dash heartbeam 2 punish. -if turned hyper & can't win, U need some more practice(except VS Raiden) -VS Jaguarandi: 4ward dash heartbeam 2 open. Crouch bowguns then walking handbeam 4 a knock-down. Standing heartbeam when Jag gets up, then walking handbeam can alwaz knock down Jag. Dash bowgun 2 evade if neccessary. 4 me, it's almost sure that I havta fight Jag every time I use Fei-Yen. But Fei-Yen is a v.good VR 2 fight Jag, so every time I get pass! -VS Z-Gradt: Open w/ standing heartbeam. Crouch bows then standing handbeam. Then whatever U do, eat some shoots & turn hyper B4 1st transformation! Standing HyperHeartBeam followed by crouch HyperBowguns. Walking HyperHandBeam 'til U have the HyperHeartBeam again. Use it. If can't finish in 1st transformation, do standing HyperHeartBeam in 2nd 2 finish. -guard-cancelling is v.useful w/ Fei-Yen. Circ-sword dance will annoy many Temjin players! RAIDEN ------ -aim your standing lasers carefully & U're a sure winner! (obvious) -once knocked-down your enermy, throw a ground bomb then standing/walkng bazooka. Raiden's single bazzoka does lots of damage! -if U're close 2 your enermy, try side jump lasers 4 a knock-down. -or side dash lasers if close 2 enermy. -U can walk in2 bombs & laser any fouls! -4ward dash bazooka is also good. -crouch bazookas: great speed & homing. -crouch lasers: fast & deadly! -VS Jaguarandi(highly unlikely): Open w/ 4ward dash laser. once knocked-down Jag, throw a ground bomb then standing/walkng bazooka. Raiden is the only VR who can fight face 2 face w/ Jag. Watch carefully B4 Jag fires, then standing laser 2 neutrallise Jag's fire & hit him 2! Doesn't guarantee 4 a knock-down though 4 the normal Jag. I once finish the smaller/weaker Jag in 7 seconds w/ Raiden! 2 laser hits then it's deadmeat. So if U'r a newbie & want 2 get on w/ the rest of the vs CPU sequence & got stuck w/ Jag, Raiden is your best bet. -VS Z-Gradt: Throw 2 crouch ground bombs then standing lasers 2 open. 4ward dash bazooka/laser 'til the transformation(stay well back BTW). Position well & do standing lasers. Walking bazooka 'til U have the lasers back. Use the laser again 2 finish. -Something I alwaz like 2 do: guess where the opponent's likely 2 go & fire standing laser B4 hand! -If the trade-in is a standing laser knock-down, I wouldn't mind taking a few hits @ all! -just look where your enermy is gona land & toast!!! Misc ---- -VS Z-Gradt: I alwaz do a 4ward jump-cancel in good time & easily evade the mine/phalanx wave. Suppose U damage Z-gradt enough so that it transforms the 2nd time soon B4 the 1st, it will do so *walking* & firing off the phalanx/floating mines wave. So aim well 4 your shots, especially if U'r Temjin & wana g.ram Z-gradt. -if U'r Temjin/Apharmd, try a sliding (make sure U'r walking 4ward) slice/tongfer against Raiden. Sometimes if I do it round the corner of an obsticle, it seems that U slide pass the standing lasers & chop Raiden off the ground. Weird. -if U'r a brave Temjin/Apharmd, try sliding HKSR against Jag!!! -I think the special moves cannot B guarded 'cos I tested w/ a friend of mine. -SLC Dive is best evaded by jumping. Cancel the jump in good time 2 punish Viper II. -If U'r Temjin & the other Temjin do a gliding ram, jump 2 evade then immediately follow up w/ your gliding ram!!! Really cool in replays. -If U'r Raiden & C the g.ram coming, hahaha, U know what, standing lasers 2 fry Temjin!!! -If U'r Viper II & C a g.ram coming use SLC Dive 2 counter if U have it! Excellent in replay, R show U some snaps... -MSH is utterly useless. -if U want 2 know more about the execution of Big 4, HKSR & machine gun etc, go2 Tirah's VO site @ www.drizzle.com/~tirah/vo.htm -VS Jag: Most of the time Jag won't dash 'til U do. (like what a good player should do) i.e. G.rams & SLC Dives will miss most of the time. (Jag jumps) -Bal-Bas-Bow can use his ERLs 2 launch differnet weapons. aerial - satellite lasers standing/4ward dashing - cluster shoots crouching - mines ??? - ring lasers Any1???
