VERSION HISTORY v1.30 - 02-02-2007 Hot on the heels of the previous update, AshuraMGS2SUB found three more ISMs! - rewritten ISM's chapter - rewritten Final ISMs chapter v1.20 - 31-01-2007 Reader AshuraMGS2SUB informed, that there are actually more than one final ISM, achieved by finishing other game-modes with your World Tour character. Thanks! - added two ISMs to the Final ISM chapter (now called Final ISMs chapter) - added AshuraMGS2SUB to the credits section - updated copyright info v1.10 - 08-08-2006 Reader Timmetry pointed out to me that USSR C3 actually does exist. It's a bit out of place on the map, yet I don't understand how I could have missed it. Makes me wonder if it really is missing from the Dreamcast version, or if that was another oversight. Thanks for that! - taken out comment from the walkthrough introduction concerning USSR C3 - added USSR C3 info into the walkthrough - added comment about USSR C3 in the section with differences from DC version - added a credits section v1.00 - 27-05-2006 Initial release, all sections written. Should also be the final release; if an update follows, this will only be for added battle-times (and possibly corrected mistakes). ............................................................................... INTRODUCTION Hello there, dear reader! When SFA3 was announced for PSP, I was delighted, since this is just about my favorite fighting game. Especially it's glorious World Tour Mode! Thankfully controls in this PSP-port are much better than those in Dark Stalkers, making me enjoy this game all over again. However. to stand the best chance against the final bosses, it's advized to level up wisely. So choose your battles carefully, so you gain the most experience and the best ISM Plusses. And that's actually what this guide is here for; help you achieve just that! Also, a thank you to CJayC is in order. His great World Tour Mode guide for the Dreamcast version, and lack there-off for the PSP version, inspired me to write this guide. One more thing; I noted how much time you have for the "Time Attack" fights. However, all fights have different time-limits (some even have infinite time), which I didn't incorporate into this guide (and don't intend to, since I won't be playing again through ALL the stages). If you have a complete set of time- limits for all the stages, please let me know (see the bottom of this file for contact info), so I can add them and credit you accordingly. Of course, the same goes for any mistakes that may exist in this guide; please let me know. Final note: this guide is based on the EU-release of the game, so it has the western names for the characters. So, here it is, hope it's helpful and allows you to enjoy this game even more. Cheers, Big Bear ............................................................................... DIFFERENCES WITH DREAMCAST VERSION The PSP version of SFA3 has four additional characters (Yun, Eagle, Maki and Ingrid), which are also featured in the World Tour Mode. This section shows the exact differences between de Dreamcast and PSP versions of the game, where World Tour Mode is concerned. All ISM's remain in their old location. Yun takes the place of......: - Fei-Long in Asia A1 - Fei-Long in Asia B2 - Adon in USSR A8 - Chun-Li in Africa B6 - Vega in America A5 Eagle takes the place of....: - Ryu in Asia C1 - Dhalsim in Europe A6 - Chun-Li in Europe B2 - Karin in Europe B10 - Dee Jay in America C1 Maki takes the place of.....: - Dan in USSR A4 - Sodom in Africa B2 (1st fight only) - Gen in America B1 - Rolento in America C3 (using A-ISM, not X-ISM) Ingrid takes the place of...: - Cody in USSR C5 - M. Bison in Europe B4 - Rolento in Africa A3 - Rolento in Africa A4 - Rolento in Africa B3 - Fei Long in America B3 Other battle-changes: Dhalsim takes the place of Cammy in Europe A6. Chun-Li takes the place of Balrog in Africa A1. Gen takes the place of Birdie in Africa A1. Ken takes the place of Zangief in Africa A10. Evil Ryu takes the place of E. Honda in Africa A10. Ken takes the place of Zangief in Africa B8. Evil Ryu takes the place of E. Honda in Africa B8. Sakura takes the place of Balrog in Africa A11. Sakura & Sakura use X-ISM instead of A-ISM in Europe B9. Karin uses A-ISM instead of V-ISM in Africa A6. Blanka uses X-ISM instead of A-ISM in Africa B1. Rose uses A-ISM instead of X-ISM in Africa (second) B9. Akuma uses V-ISM instead of A-ISM in Africa (third) B9. Cammy uses X-ISM instead of A-ISM in America B1. Fei-Long uses V-ISM instead of X-ISM in America B4. Zangief uses A-ISM instead of X-ISM in America C1. Zangief starts with (approximately) 40% health instead of 100% in America A6. Also, Gen uses varying ISM-styles (all three in fact) for some of his battles. If you lose one of these fights, continue and fight him again, he may play with a different ISM-style. I don't remember if he did this in the Dreamcast version (probably did, suits his varying fighting style) or whether he does this in all battles. I mainly noticed this for battle Europe A5 (and the other battles in Europe identical to that one). This game actually does feature a USSR C3 battle, whereas this level was missing from the Dreamcast version. After beating the Gokuentou battles, you get the ISM Plus "Air Chain Combo"; I don't recall this being in the Dreamcast version at all (possibly, it's too long ago I last completed World Tour on the Dreamcast). If this is indeed new, it's a justified extra prize for beating those battles (since you don't need to win those battles, to get the "Status Plus" ISM). Finally, if I hold the numbers I found next to CJayC's guide for the Dreamcast version, some of the starting health-percentages are different. Maybe this was changed for the PSP-version, but it's more likely that either CJayC or I read them inaccurately (or we both misread some). ............................................................................... BATTLE TYPES This section shows the various types of battle in World Tour Mode. The text is taken straight from the game, since it's explained just fine there. Random word of advice: Some battles may be hard to win for you (for example if you have trouble throwing, or making Custom Combo's, or when your opponent just REFUSES to block in a Guard Crush fight). Just remember that having more energy left when time runs out, is also a victory (and a lot of these battles give the opponent less health at the start). So just make it to the end with more life! Normal Type: Simply defeat the opponent who is challenging you! Gauge Hyper: The enemy's Super Combo Meter will charge faster. Be careful! Dramatic Battle: Fight with your friend against the computer! Time Attack: Your time will be more limited. Defeat the enemy quickly. R Dramatic: Your opponents will attack you in combinations. Don't give up! Combo Attack: Single hits will have no effect. Use combos to damage the enemy! Power Type: Watch out for your opponent's devastating strength! Survival: Fight carefully and survive against multiple challengers! Super Combo: Only Super Combos will be able to damage your opponent! Drama Survival: Fight against multiple opponents with your friend! Recovery Battle: Your opponent will regain their life gauge. Strike quickly! Target Attack: You can damage only one of the opponents! Focus your attacks! Guard Crush: Attack your opponent after performing a Guard Crush! Stun Attack: Your opponent's attack will make you dizzy. Watch out! Gauge Max: The enemy's will always be charged to MAX! Watch for Super Combos! Throw Attack: Most attacks will not damage your next opponent. Use throw attacks. Custom Combo: Only Custom Combos will be able to damage your opponent! Team Battle: Prepare for the Team Battle. Defeat all of the fighters! ............................................................................... ISM's This section lists all the ISM Pluses available in World Tour Mode. No matter what route you take, you can get no more than 1 ISM plus per continent giving you a maximum of six. Use this section to decide which ISM you like best and base your route on that. Again, the text comes straight from the game, since the ISM's are explained just fine there. Listed at the end are the ISMs you can get after completing World Tour mode, see the next section for more information. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Resist Dizziness (Asia A4): It will take more hits to become dizzy. Alhpa Counter Plus (Asia B4): The attack power of your Alpha Counters will be increased. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Air Guard (USSR A5): You will be able to guard against attacks in the air. Supreme Alpha Power (post-game): You can use the Alpha Cancel and the Super Alpha Cancel techniques. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ............................................................................... FINAL ISMs There are a number of ISMs to obtain outside of World Tour Mode. To get these, you need to save your game after finishing World Tour Mode (either by beating the Gokuentou level, or by failing it and chosing the option "Give Up"). Now, use Entry Mode to register your World Tour character for other modes. Using that character to beat other game modes, will earn you more ISMs. I got both Status Plus and Custom Combo Charger without using continues, I expect this to be required. Of course, Final Battle and the Survival Modes don't have continues to speak of, they're one-shot tries as it is. There are likely three more ISMs to be found, since Edit Mode (where you can edit characters and give them a selection from every ISM unlocked so far) has room for 26 ISMs and this guide has 23 so far. 17 to be collected during World Tour Mode (in multiple games of course, since you can only get 6+1 in a single route) and 6 post-game ISM. Likely remaining candidates for unlocking ISMs are VS 100 Kumite mode, Survival R. Dramatic mode and Survival R.Dramatic Survival mode. Both Survival Variable and Survival Dramatic won't allow you to select Entry Mode characters, and there's no winning Survival Unlimited. Except for Status Plus, AshuraMGS2SUB gets all credits for finding these ISMs. This list shows what ISM you get for completing these Modes: Arcade Mode -------------> Status Plus R.Dramatic Mode ---------> Custom Combo Charger Final Battle (*) --------> Multiple Taunt Survival Arcade ---------> Alpha Power Survival Original -------> Super Alpha Power (haven't gotten this myself yet) Survival Boss -----------> Supreme Alpha Power (*) Press L+R when selecting Final Battle to fight Shin Akuma (the normal Final Battle Mode doesn't award you any ISM). ............................................................................... WALKTHROUGH This sections shows the maps for each continent (also highlighting at which areas you will obtain an ISM Plus) and a description for each of the battles. The descriptions show, from left to right: - stage number (number of the area, followed by the stage within that area) - battle type - opponent(s) - ISM power used by opponent - extra information, relating to that battle That last column will hold the following information: - most fights are single rounds; those that are best-of-three are marked here. - the name of your partner in Dramatic Battle / Drama Survival - the time-limit for Time Attack battles - the number of opponents to be beaten in Survival / Drama Survival - the target in Target Attack battles - extra conditions (example: the last battle is both R Dramatic and Gauge Max) Team Battles have three separate fights, so there every opponent gets their own line of information (because they can have differing ISM styles, as opposed to different opponents in a Survival or R Dramatic Battle). The "Sh." in the ISM column stands for Shadoloo; this is a different power as used by S-M.Bison and by Juni and Juli in battle America END-2. Africa has 3 different B9 areas, one after another, between which you are allowed to save. I don't know why this is, but more battles = more experience! ...............................................................................
