=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- HATSUNE MIKU: PROJECT DIVA - EDIT MODE GUIDE Written by ChaosAlert [hoshi no senshi] Project http://hoshinosenshi.wordpress.com Version 1.2 --- Version 1.2 (09/07/2009) - Use of Measurement Tabs added. Also added another control function to the Parallel/Rotation Camera section. Version 1.0 (06/07/2009) - Main guide started. Covers the menus and choices availiable. I think that's nearly everything, but I'll get around to adding anything that may have been overlooked. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- -------------------------------------------------------------------- INDEX -------------------------------------------------------------------- Use Ctrl+F to quickly jump to the following. RHYTHM GAME EDIT - TOP MENU (RGE01) - FROM BEGINNING (RGE02) EDIT TOP (RGE03) - SYSTEM (RGE04) OMAKASE MODE (RGE05) -------------------------------------------------------------------- INTRO -------------------------------------------------------------------- So, chances are you know what Edit Mode is. However, the problem that persists is that you haven't got much of an idea on how everything works. I'm hoping that in due time, the tips and clever stuff that could possibly be done will be found by those who dedicate their time in making custom songs. Because I want to make things easier to understand, I will be providing most setup options with their Japanese name and English translation. To see this guide correctly, make sure you have Shift_JIS encoding and/or Auto-Detect Japanese switched on in your browser. You can do this under 'View > Encoding'. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 1) RHYTHM GAME EDIT - TOP MENU (RGE01) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- You'll be at the starting menu, with the following options. 【最初から】 From Beginning 【続きから】 Continuation 【エディットプレイ】 Edit Play 【エディット鑑賞モード】 Edit Appreciation Mode 【おまかせモード】 “I'll leave it/this to you” Mode =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 2) RHYTHM GAME EDIT - FROM BEGINNING (RGE02) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ready to start your own custom song? Then here we go. First off, you'll need to choose your song that will be the basis for your custom song chart. The only format that the Edit Mode will accept are mp3 encoded files. NOTE: Not all songs may work, which will end up with the following text to appear. 「この楽曲は再生できません」 This tune cannot be played back. The current cause of this problem is currently unknown. It may be the way the file is encoded, whether that be to do with the bitrate or frequency is another matter. Pressing the Square button on a song will let you listen to it. -------------------------------------------------------------------- FROM BEGINNING - SETUP -------------------------------------------------------------------- After choosing your song, you'll need to decide on a few more things before you can start editing. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 【BPM設定】 BPM Setting Here is where we need to set the tempo for your custom song. Pressing the Square button starts playing the song chosen, and Triangle begins a Metronome timer. Use this accordingly to try and get the right beat. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 【モジュール選択】 Module Selection Next up is the Module Selection option. This will be where the chosen character will appear in the Edit Mode PV. NOTE: Only characters/outfits you've unlocked in the Free Play Mode can be chosen. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 【効果音選択】 Effect Sound Selection After this is the Button Sound Effect. By default it'll be turned off, but you can choose any sound that you feel will make your custom song sound better. Pressing the Square button will allow you to hear each sound. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 【ターゲット簡易配置】 Target Simple Arrangement Target Simple Arrangement allows you to decide where you want each button to appear on screen, you have the following options to choose from; 【使用しない】 Don't utilize 【使用する】 Do utilize NOTE: You can edit the target input later when you begin editing. I highly reccommend, in terms of ease, that you ignore this for the time being. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 【背景選択】 Scenery Selection Almost done. You can now choose what stage would be best for your custom song. You can have up to twenty stages and/or illustrations, of which must be unlocked in Free Play Mode. NOTE: The number in the top right corner is basically the amount of free space you have for your selections. Each stage uses up a certain amount of space, so decide accordingly to what would be suitable. Pressing the Square will give you a preview of each stage. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 【モーション選択】 Motion Selection Here is where you can choose what dance moves you want to see in your PV (when chosen), once again, each motion uses up a specific amount of space (which is shared with Scenery Selection). You can choose up to thirty different moves. Pressing the Square button will give you a preview of each dance. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 3) RHYTHM GAME EDIT - EDIT TOP (RGE03) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- This is where you'll be spending most of the time while editing your song. The bar that looks like this: (1小節)===========(200小節) This is your measurement bar, which can vary in length (minutes wise) depending on the tempo of you song. Below this are the measurement tabs (1, 2, 3 etc...) which change colour (yellow, purple, green) when you press the Circle button. These tabs coud be used as markers to remember specific parts of the song while editing, such as singing sections (using the Model lip sync in Facial Expression) or tempo changes within the song. The first row beneath the tabs is the Rhythm setup. In this sub-menu, you can choose one of the presets, change the BPM (if the song doesn't sync) and change the measure formation. You can also assign buttons to the measure, on each beat. The second row is the Target setup, which allows you to move the button layout to your liking. Pressing the Circle button allows you to pick a button (1-8) and then move it with the D-Pad. Press Circle again to confirm placement. Using the analog stick/D-Pad changes the entrance for each button. Alternatively, you can use presets by pressing left/right on the D-Pad when nothing is selected. The third tab is the Stage Mode sub-menu. The option below this allows you to watch your custom song from that point. END does what it says. You can set the ending of the song on the selected tab by pressing the Circle button. -------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT TOP - STAGE MODE -------------------------------------------------------------------- Remember that number in the top right corner? This is where you need to decide on what selections would benefit your custom song. Too many camera changes for example, could mean you won't be able to set many dance routines. Here we have five rows of boxes. The first row is the Model Display. In this sub-menu (seriously, you can never have enough menus), you have the following two options; 【表示】 Display 【非表示】 Non-Display Choose your option with Circle button. Second row is Facial Expression. Choose whether to smile or be upset. After choosing, you'll be able to lip sync with the vocals if you want to. This will work well if you plan on using J-Pop... or something. Third row is Motion. This is where you'll be able to set the dance moves you chose earlier. Using the L/R shoulder buttons allows you to change the speed of the dance. Fourth row is Scenery. As above, choose the stage you want to have appear in the timeframe of your PV. Fifth row is Camera. Another sub-menu! The following options will be availiable. 【拍数設定】 Beat Count Setting 【プリセットカメラ】 Preset Camera 【平行移動】 Parallel Movement 【回転移動】 Rotation Movement 【プレビュー】 Preview 【決定】 Decision For the first two options, select your desired Preset camera, and then using the first option, change the length of seconds to how long you want the camera to last. In other words, the longer the time set, the slower the camera will move. If you want to use your own angle (for whatever disturbing reasons some may have in mind), you can use both the third and fourth option. Here's how the controls work. -------------------------------------------------------------------- CAMERA - PARALLEL/ROTATION MOVEMENT CONTROLS -------------------------------------------------------------------- The analog stick moves the camera. L+Up/Down on D-Pad zooms in/out, but won't pass the character model. Up/Down on D-Pad zooms in/out, and passes through the character model. Left/Right on D-Pad is the camera movement speed. R button switches between Parallel and Rotation camera. Triangle button removes/displays the camera information. Square button stops the character from dancing (if you've got a motion active at the time), and vice versa. Select/Start reverts the camera back to its default setting. X button exits discarding changes made. Circle button confirms the camera angle selection. Press twice to save and exit. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Preview allows you to watch your camera setting, but this only works well for the Preset camera choices. To finally confirm your camera choices, hit the last option. NOTE: To fix any timing mistakes you may have made while working on a PV, you can use the Square button to copy your choice, and then use Triangle to paste it into the highlighted box. When you've done what you needed here, press Start to confirm your choices. Going back to the Edit Top, you can test your song by hitting the Select button. Also... if you press the Start button... =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 4) EDIT TOP - SYSTEM (RGE04) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Another menu! Who saw this coming? Anyway, lets get this list underway. 【データ】 Data 【楽曲選択】 Tune Selection 【モジュール選択】 Module Selection 【背景選択】 Scenery Selection 【モーション選択】 Motion Selection 【効果音選択】 Effect Sound Selection 【リアルタイム入力】 Real Time Input 【ターゲット簡易配置】 Target Simple Arrangement 【楽曲開始時間設定】 Tune Starting Time Setting 【モード選択へ】 Go to Mode Selection 【エディット終了】 Close Edit Most of these options you would have dealt with while setting up your custom song, but there are a few that are important. Choosing the Data option brings us to a sub-menu. 【データをセーブする】 Save Data 【データをロードする】 Load Data 【データを削除する】 Erase Data 【楽曲名】 Tune Name 【エディット名】 Edit Name The fourth and fifth option allows you to set the title of the song and the editor creator. Back to the System menu, the next option of choice is the Real Time Input selection, which allows you to add the targets while the song plays back. This makes editing songs much easier, and you can move the on-screen inputs back in the Target Simple Arrangement tool. NOTE: Choosing this option will clear your current target input, so only use this if you're looking to refix everything. Choosing 'Target Simple Arrangement' from this menu does the same, so return to Edit Top and work on the inputs from there. Tune Starting Time allows you to pick where the song should start from (this will affect all Target input and PV choices). Sometimes this option won't always show until you've done enough work in your custom song. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 5) “I'll leave it/this to you” (OMAKASE) MODE (RGE05) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- So, what's different between starting from scratch and this choice? How about some more menus! Oh, well... there are some interesting options though. After choosing your song and setting the BPM. You'll see the following menu and options. Musical After this is Scenery Selection. Choose what you need then another menu will appear. Close Edit When you choose to go to the Edit Top, you'll have a Target input chart done for you, however chances are you will want to clear it and work on your own using the Real Time Input option. -------------------------------------------------------------------- FINISHING UP -------------------------------------------------------------------- Phew. So, if you've finally finished making your song, you can give it an actual try using the Edit Play option from the main menu. If you also did a PV that you think looks good, you can watch that from the Edit Appreciation option. When that's done, you can share your songs with friends or Hatsune Miku -Project Diva- community sites. Another good place to showcase your songs (via video) is Nico Nico Douga. http://nicovideo.jp (Registration required) Remember, the amount of songs that can be played is endless! ...unless somehow every single song in history gets an Edit Mode chart, but that's very very unlikely. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 6) CREDITS/THANKS =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Crypton Future Media ----- VOCALOID wouldn't exist without this group, they deserve tons of props for creating something that has given composers a chance to get their music out to thousands, even millions of people. SEGA ----- Creating a rhythm game? Anyone could do it. Creating a rhythm game with Miku in the spotlight? Insanity. However, this is one of the games that really makes the PSP entertaining. Even if it doesn't cater towards everyone. Piapro ----- Lots of composers can be found here, with a ton of VOCALOID songs to listen to. The good stuff isn't always popular, you know. http://piapro.jp Err... myself (I guess) ----- It's odd working on a guide for an import game, but that said, it's enjoyable in its own way. Japanese translations should be accurate for the most part. Hope you guys enjoy Edit Mode now! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 7) LEGAL =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- This guide is written for and only to be published by: GameFAQs (http://gamefaqs.com) [hoshi no senshi] (http://hoshinosenshi.wordpress.com) Copyright (C) 2009 Redistribution in any other media, such as digital content on another website, or as public display in any form (book/magazine print) is a violation of copyright.
