Version 0.75 - Polished and steered in the right direction. The prototype of this guide you are reading now was born, again in the the GameFAQs DJ MAX Portable BlackSquare board. One last piece of information was needed to make it "finished". Version 1.00 - After adding in contributions by other DJs and polishing up the guide further, this guide has finally earned the right to show its face in the FAQs section. Finally got the stupid logo done too. Forgive me for the crappy ASCII art, it's my first time doing it. Version 2.00 - This is the version of the guide you are viewing. After some deliberation, I have decided to add in a table of contents, due to the fact that I will also be including a long list of available notecharts, after realising that my guide has caused some confusion. ---Table of Contents--- 1. Introduction 2. Copyright 3. Introduction to Link Disc 4. Link Disc Unlockables 5. Link Play 6. List of Unlockable Notecharts 7. Known Problems 8. Final Words 9. Contacting Me ---Introduction--- This is a list of Link Disc unlockables for BlackSquare which I have compiled after much hard work (and deteriorated eyesight) as well as contributions by fellow DJs. This list was created with the intention of helping fellow DJs. Let us begin with the very uninteresting copyright information before going into the unlockables proper. ---Copyright--- This guide is the intellectual property of INFERTakuya, and should not be placed on any other site except for GameFAQs and GameSpot. Using any portion of this guide in your own FAQ without the permission of the creator of the guide will be considered plagiarism and will render you punishable under the Copyright Act of your own country. DJ MAX and the DJ MAX Portable series are products and trademarks of Pentavision and Neowiz. I am not affiliated with the creators of this game in any manner. Slay3rH3ll is allowed to include this guide in his FAQ, if he ever gets round to making it, that is. ---Introduction to Link Disc--- Link Disc is a feature that was first introduced in DJ MAX Portable 2. It was a rather innovative feature for a portable console, which required the player to swap to a different UMD of the same series, somewhat like a disc change for the Final Fantasy games. Link Disc gave veteran players the opportunity to play their favourite songs from DJ MAX Portable using the DJ MAX Portable 2 interface, as well as offer some otherwise impossible-to-unlock items. In Clazziquai Edition, the Link Disc system was stripped down, giving up Link Play in favour of immediate unlocking of songs, gears, notes and characters. BlackSquare has brought together the best of both worlds, boasting both faces of the Link Disc feature. While there are now fewer unlockables, it is still much better than Clazziquai Edition's Link Disc nonetheless. ---Link Disc Unlockables--- These are unlocked simply by swapping the UMDs when prompted. BlackSquare -> Portable (Contributed by untitled_): Characters - Preiya; L; Sorang Gears - PGP Gear Notes - Chick Note Songs - HAMSIN BlackSquare -> Portable 2: Characters - Sehra; NB Red Gears - Roadster Gear Notes - Bird Note Songs - DIVINE SERVICE Clazziquai -> BlackSquare: Characters - Hea Songs - Proposed, Flower, Wolf ---Link Play--- Now, this is probably the favourite aspect of Link Disc for the veterans. Just a little information on how the unlocking process here works. Playing any of the following Clazziquai Edition songs will unlock the listed BlackSquare song in the Arcade mode for BlackSquare, but only for the button mode you played the Clazziquai Edition song in. For example, playing Freedom NM 4B in Link Disc will unlock Get Down NM 4B. Do take note that there will not be an unlock notification. BlackSquare -> Clazziquai: Format: Clazziquai song - BlackSquare song 1. Come to me - Proposed, Flower, Wolf Part 2 2. Color - Sweet Shining Shooting Star 3. Creator - Fermion 4. Freedom - Get Down 5. Eternity - Heart of Witch 6. No Way - Remember 7. Closer - In My Dream 8. Motion - Keys to the World 9. Lover - Shoreline 10. Y - Cypher Gate 11. BlythE - Beat U Down 12. Oblivion - Ask to Wind Live Mix 13. Every morning - Get Up 14. Memory of Beach - Relation Again 15. SunnySide - YO MAX 16. Taekwonburi - Super Lovely 17. Elastic Star ~UK Garage Remix~ - Real Over DRIVE 18. Syriana - HAMSIN 19. Ask to Wind - DIVINE SERVICE 20. Fate - Higher 21. Play the FUTURE - Space of Soul 22. Landscape - Nightmare HD/MX charts (It is required to unlock the NM chart of the song first): (BS song) HD style - Clear the related CE song on HD style (BS song) MX style - Clear the related CE song on MX style Some people might be a little confused here, so I'll explain. Playing a more difficult chart for the CE song in Link Disc will unlock a chart of the same difficulty level for BS. For example, Playing Color HD 4B unlocks Sweet Shining Shooting Star HD 4B, and playing Eternity MX 4B unlocks Heart of Witch MX 4B. Of course, clearing the BS song on NM in the arcade mode will unlock the HD mode, so you won't have to worry there. For a list of MX and RD charts, and how to unlock them, you can check out Slay3rH3ll's submissions in the Codes section of the BS page. Some charts cannot be unlocked by Link Play. I'll cover those that can in the next section. ---List of Unlockable Notecharts--- This is a list of notecharts of the BlackSquare songs that are unlockable via Link Play. Obviously enough, if a certain chart difficulty (HD, MX, RD) does not appear for the CE song, you won't be able to unlock that same chart difficulty for the BS song via Link Disc. For simplicity's sake, I have assigned numbers to each song. The numbers assigned to each BS song will be from 1 to 22, in the order listed in the previous section. 4B Mode: 1. NM 9. NM 17. NM 2. NM, HD 10. NM 18. NM 3. NM, MX 11. NM 19. NM 4. NM 12. NM 20. NM, HD 5. NM, MX 13. NM, HD 21. NM 6. NM 14. NM 22. NM 7. NM, HD 15. NM 8. NM 16. NM 5B Mode: 1. NM 9. NM 17. NM 2. NM 10. NM 18. NM 3. NM, MX 11. NM 19. NM 4. NM 12. NM 20. NM 5. NM 13. NM 21. NM 6. NM 14. NM 22. NM 7. NM 15. NM 8. NM 16. NM 6B Mode: 1. NM 9. NM 17. NM 2. NM 10. NM 18. NM, HD 3. NM 11. NM 19. NM 4. NM 12. NM 20. NM 5. NM 13. NM 21. NM 6. NM 14. NM 22. NM 7. NM 15. NM 8. NM 16. NM 4BFX Mode: Only NM Charts 6BFX Mode: Only NM charts, except Nightmare, which cannot be unlocked as Landscape is missing. ---Known Problems--- "Glitched" Unlocks: No, this is not as serious as it sounds. Clearing the CE songs on any other button mode before doing so on 4B will result in a "glitched" unlock. This causes the unlocked song to not show up in the play data screen. [This "glitch" can be fixed by unlocking the song on 4B. (Contributed by SirEntropy)] False Unlock Message: After playing about 28 songs in Link Disc, you should receive a notification stating that you have unlocked Y MX 4B. This unlock message is false. Y MX 4B will not be unlocked even after you receive the message. ---Final Words--- I wish to thank - Everyone who contributed to this guide. - Those who have helped to bump my guide up on the GameFAQs boards when the guide was still in its early days. - Everyone on the DJ MAX GameFAQs boards for being such a wonderful community. I have had a lot of fun chatting with you guys. I hope that this guide will help you, the reader. Thank you for taking the time to read this guide (rather, a huge chunk of text). I hope you enjoy playing this amazing game as much as I have. ---Contacting me--- No matter how much I have done, this guide still cannot be considered complete. If you find out anything that I have missed, send an e-mail to me at deathblade6385(at)hotmail.com and title it "BSLinkDisc". If you have any questions on the game itself, or require any gameplay help, you can post in the BlackSquare boards or ask for help in the Q&A section. I'm sure that there will be a good Samaritan who will be willing to help. (Copyright 2009 INFERTakuya)
