This is dedicated to a very specific portion of Dissidia: Final Fantasy, and I hope that it will prove useful in whatever limited capacity. This Guide may be not be reproduced under any circumstances except for personal, private use. It may not be placed on any web site or otherwise distributed publicly without advance written permission. Use of this guide on any other web site or as a part of any public display is strictly prohibited, and a violation of copyright. If you would like my permission, I'm sure I'd be more than willing to give it if you drop me an email. ------------------------ // II) What is Mognet? // ------------------------ Mognet is a mail service provided by moogles, and usually between moogles. It premiered in Final Fantasy IX, and returns in Dissidia as an interesting diversion from the main game. Every day you play Dissidia, you get at least one letter. These letters can be accessed from either the Main menu or the Customization menu at any time by pressing Square; they are opened automatically, and share a page with the game's Bonus Calendar Forcast. Mail is delivered every day you play; even if you do not read it that day. For example, if you play 5 days without checking your mail, but do on a sixth, you will have 6 letters to read. However, mail is not delivered if you did not load, and subsequently save, your game each day. A fight need not happen; just load your game and mail is delivered; save your game, and the mail is stored waiting for you. Mognet letters come from various authors, but can be divided into two basic types; Yellow and Blue. Yellow mail is simple enough; every day you are guaranteed one yellow letter. These letters are all part of a correspondance chain, meaning that you will be recieving mail in a predictable sequence, with 10 Correspondance chains in all. Once a chain ends, the next letter you recieve will start a new chain; this next chain is choosen at random. Playing Dissidia a sufficient number of days will guarantee you to see all of these yellow letters, and with quite a few repetitions to boot. Blue mail is nearly as simple. When you first start Dissidia, you will get not just one letter a day but two; the second is Blue mail. This first series of Blue mail is geared toward Beginners, and offers various tips and information about Dissidia. The other kind of Blue mail has to do with consecutive days. The number of Consecutive Days you've played is shown on the Mognet/Calendar screen. While not shown with a counter, letters are also earned for a certain number of days NOT played. Only Blue Beginner mail is one-time-only; all other letters, including all other blue letters, can be gotten more than once. It is not possible to earn more than two letters a day; if you have sufficient criteria for more than two, one of the (blue) letters will be delayed until the next day. ------------------ // III) Presents // ------------------ Mognet is most similar to a "side-quest." Understanding it is not necessary for reaping its benefits; most rewards will end up in your hands on their own. Any letter can have up to 2 "Presents" mailed along with it. The primary reward from Mognet is PP, and lots of it. In fact, unless a letter already has 2 presents already, every letter you open will net you PP. The amount ranges from 30 to 300. Next, two kinds of accessories; "Superslick" and "Mog's Amulet." Superslicks are Special-type accessories that grant a 1.5x multiplier to your Battlegen Rates; Mog's Amulets are the same, but offer the 1.5x multiplier to your Drop Rate. Both accessories have a 30% chance of breaking at the end of battle. Any Correct answer to a Mogstache question will net you a Superslick (with the exception of the final question in the correspondance chain), but they can also be given out in other letters. The Mog's Amulet is rarer, but can be earned for completing a few correspondance chains, acquiring certain Blue Mail letters, or even answering some Mogstache questions incorrectly. Lastly, Mognet is the only way to acquire Stiltzkin's Friend Cards. These 8 cards come with their own Ghost Data, and a uniquely specific Player Icon, which can only be earned by acquiring the card. There is a Stiltzkin Card for each of the 8 ID colors. These Cards are discussed in further detail elsewhere in the guide. -------------------- // IV) Our Authors // -------------------- All of the Yellow Mail you recieve will come from one of three authors: Mogstache, Benjamin, or Linaly. Mogstache's letters consist primarily of quizzes. Benjamin's letters involve him asking you for advice about adventuring. Linaly's letters consist of Pen Pal-like correspondence. All of the Blue Mail you recieve will come from nameless "Moogle Manager A" or "Moogle Managaer B." Expect to get "Beginner Mail" tips for quite a few days after starting the game, Blue Mail will only come if you have or haven't played so many consecutive days. --------------- / A) Mogstache / --------------- Mogstache is a Final Fantasy fan, who will test your knowledge of the series with a series of three quizzes. He desires to be among the ranks of Stiltzkin and Mog in terms of moogle popularity, and takes pride in his moogle heritage. He even has a set of "Moogle Reports" to educate you on some of the grander distinctions among his race and history. It's fun, kupo. +Present+ *30 PP ~Moogle Ragtime!~ (if answered FFVII incorrectly) Guess you don't remember... There WERE a lot of characters and a sprawling story to keep track of. Still, if you ask me, people just liked VII for the minigames, kupo. That's all for the quiz, but maybe I'll give you a consolation prize for getting so far! +Present+ *30 PP *Mog's Amulet ~Moogle Ragtime!~ (if answered FFVIII incorrectly) Sorry, kupo... Times change, huh? Still, it's good to look back sometimes, to see where we came from. +Present+ *30 PP ~FINAL FANTASY V~ (if answered "Final Fantasy V Moogles") Rarely seen, mysterious creatures who communicate by telepathy... I don't really get the appeal of avoiding the spoltlight myself... Still, between cuddling up to Lenna and hanging on Krile, sounds less like shyness and more like ladykilling, kupo! +Present+ *30 PP ~FINAL FANTASY VI~ (if answered "Final Fantasy VI Moogles") Everybody's a hearo in VI, especially Mog! A moogle fighter--that's something special! But don't get me wrong. As much as I respect the guy, I still would have picked the Gold Hairpin--hands down! His girlfriend's charm came in handy as well, kupo. +Present+ *30 PP ~Moogle Reports (Continued)~ Nowadays, moogles come in all sorts of shapes and sizes depending on the world they're from, kupo! And not just a racing game or mysterious dungeon spinoff, either kupo! ...Anyway, thanks for listening! +Present+ *30 PP *Superslick -------------- / B) Benjamin / -------------- Benjamin is named after the protagonist of Final Fantasy Mystic Quest (a game dear to this author's heart). His goal to be a great adventurer, and asks the player for advice at every turn, being incapable of acting without someone telling him what to do (much like FFMQ's Benjamin), and even then he often manages to mess things up regardless, often in comical ways. He will visit and/or meet numerous Final Fantasy icons, both locations and people, and his letters are full of little nods to the series, sure to make an old fan smile. ------------------------- | B.1) Benjamin's Travels | ------------------------- ~The Traveling Moogle~ I'm not gonna be shown up by that Stiltzkin, so I'm off to travel the world! The question is, where to start... Say, you'll give me some travel tips, right? Right! Pick out someplace super-special, kupo! +Present+ *30 PP Where should I go, kupo? 1) Information gathering in town! 2) Treasure hunting in the caves! 3) Just go east. ~The Impulsive-Buyer Moogle~ (if answered "Information gathering in town!") You are one smart cookie, kupo! Can you believe there's a sale on kupo nuts today? I used all my gil and bought out the store! That...was the end of my travel funds, kupo... +Present+ *30 PP ~The Freaked-out Moogle~ (if answered "Treasure hunting in the caves!") I went to a cave rumored to have buried treasure. But it was all damp and dark and scary, kupo! And suffenly the path just crumbled away in fron of me! I ran, but on the way out, I dropped my wallet... Why'd you make me go there, kupo? +Present+ *30 PP ~The Frustrated Moogle~ (if answered "Just go east.") I traveled east for a while, and eventually came to a house, kupo. I kept walking and walking, but the wall didn't move an inch--I've got the bruises to prove it! Now I realize, life is pain, especially when you don't walk around things. Thanks, kupo. +Present+ *30 PP ~The Pondering Moogle~ I guess I've gotten off to a bad start, but failure just makes success that much sweeter, kupo. This time, I'm making a plan and acting according to it! What do you think is the most important part of a good journey, kupo? +Present+ *30 PP What Should I not forget, kupo? 1) Be careful with your money. 2) All you need is blazing passion! 3) Everything's more fun with friends! ~The Reliable Moogle~ (if you answered "Be careful with your money.") A-ahhh, I guess you're right... It's no time to have your head in the clouds, kupo. Have to buy equipment and pay for inns, and that takes gil, kupo... Okay! I'm off to make preparations! Talk to you later, kupo! +Present+ *30 PP *Superslick ~The Irritated Moogle~ (if answered "All you need is blazing passion!") Hmm, that kind of zeal is a definite plus... But passion doesn't fill your stomach, kupo! Even you should know you need more preparation than that! For today, I think I'm gonna sit back and relax, kupo. +Present+ *30 PP ~The Rambling Moogle~ (if answered "Everything's more fun with friends!") Yeah! With a good friend at my side, nothing would be too tough to bear, kupo! And we could have deep discussions and disagree and have a big fight and split up and become eternal rivals, kupo! ...What, that's not how it's done? +Present+ *30 PP ------------------------------- | B.2) Benjamin's Big Adventure | ------------------------------- ~The Moogle Tourist~ Believe it or not, I'm really a deposed prince... Come on, everybody's had that fantasy at least once, right? Anyway, today I'm up for some sightseeing. I'd like to see a lovely castle, kupo... Where do you think I should try? +Present+ *30 PP What castle do you recommend, kupo? 1) A giant, three-tiered castle. 2) One that can hide under the desert. 3) A pretty one hidden in the mountains. ~From Lindblum~ (if answered "A giant, three-tiered castle.") I rode the air cab over to the castle, kupo! It's huge--way too big to see all of in one day. I disguised myself so I could get to the top tier, but it didn't take people long to realize I was a moogle... +Present+ *30 PP ~From Figaro~ (if answered "One that can hide under the desert.") The most incredible thing about this place is that someone could set up att this state-of-the-art machinery in the middle of a desert, kupo! The king here is known for being a philanderer, but seems to me he puts his country first, kupo! +Present+ *30 PP ~From Tycoon~ (if answered "A pretty one hidden in the mountains.") A big dance out on a sprawling terrace, and two beautiful princesses...it's all so elegant, kupo! I feel like I am a noble myself! But on the roof, I saw this cage so big it made my pom-pom stand on end, kupo! Whatever could it be for? +Present+ *30 PP ~More of the Moogle Tourist~ All that castle-viewing was a little overwhelming... I'm bushed, kupo. So I think I'd like to head somewhere relaxing, maybe get some fresh air and enjoy nature. Anyplace you'd recommend, kupo? +Present+ *30 PP If I wanna relax with nature, kupo... 1) ...try diving in the river! 2) ...try swimming in a lake! 3) ...try mediating by the sea! ~From the Serpent Trench~ (if answered "...try diving in the river!") I held my breath and prepared to die, then jumped into the river, kupo! I was dragged off by the current, and ran into rock after rock... Sure I learned about the ferocity of nature, but I rather wish I could've done it from home, kupo. +Present+ *30 PP *Superslick ~From Lake Macalania~ (if answered "...try swimming in a lake!") The pyrefly light reflected off the water is just stunning, kupo. The whole mood was so mystical that even I wanted to try sending souls to the next world... Still, it seems like a waste, being here all alone, kupo. Guess it's time to go home. +Present *30 PP ~From the Forgotten Chapel~ (if answered "...try mediating by the sea!") With all the coral and snails around, even the shore looks like it's underwater, kupo. I figured I'd do like the Cetra do and try some prayer stuff, but I kept being distracted... I realized how small I really am. This has really been a spiritual journey. +Present+ *30 PP *Friend Card "Stilkzkin: 6" ------------------------------- | B.3) Benjamin's First Mission | ------------------------------- ~The Moogle Challenger~ Know what I just decided? I'm setting off to find fame and fortune! But when you're after something big like that, you can't dip a toe into the swimming pool of danger, you've got to dive in, kupo! Where should I start? +Present+ *30 PP My first mission, should I chose to accept it: 1) Sneaking into a castle basement! 2) Deep forest rescue! 3) Breaking into a mansion! ~From Castle Walse~ (if answered "Sneaking into a castle basement!") I figured there would be some creepy-looking ruins or something, but it's just a regular old castle, kupo. The water's really pretty, too. Heh, as if there'd be anything dangerous down here! ...Wh-whaaat!? "Moon Flute"...kupo!? +Present+ *30 PP ~From the Salikawood~ (if answered "Deep forest rescue!") Ahh, walking in the woods is always so relaxing, kupo. Actually, I'm helping out someone who lost their pet in here. Can't imagine anyone having a cuter pet than a moogle though... Ku-po, what's that smell!? +Present+ *30 PP ~From Goldor Manor~ (if answered "Breaking into a mansion!") Is sneaking into some gaudy mansion supposed to be a big deal? Because it's been super easy so far, kupo. The gate was wide open, for goodness' sake! So there's a bog in front of me, big deal-- ...Kupopopopopopo... +Present+ *30 PP ~More of the Moogle Challenger~ I see you aren't the type to go easy on a body... But, thanks to that, I've toughened up some, kupo! I'm not stopping here, Kupo! So tell me, what's necessary to get past tough challenges, kupo? +Present+ *30 PP You've got to want.. 1) ...a super-rare treasure! 2) ...to meet a special person! 3) ...to be stronger than anyone else! ~From the Adamant Isle Grotto~ (if answered "...a super-rare treasure!") I crossed the shoals and came across a tiny grotto, kupo. Would you believe there was adamantite inside? That's pretty rare! But without a rat tail, you can't get it, kupo... I even offered to trade my pom-pom, but no such luck, kupo... +Present+ *30 PP ~From Guadosalam~ (if answered "...to meet a special person!") I always thought meeting somebody who'd already passed on was just crazy, kupo--but it's not. There's this place... Well, I can finally give somebody a proper good-bye. I feel like I've grown up a little, kupo... +Present+ *30 PP *Friend Card "Stiltzkin: 3" ~From Chocobo's Paradise~ (if answered "...to be stronger than anyone else!") Hi from Chocobo's Paradise, kupo! This place is well known as a proving ground, so I can finally make a name for myself as the strongest moogle around! Wish you were here, kupo! +Present+ *30 PP *Friend Card "Stiltzkin: 8" ---------------------------------- | B.4) Benjamin's Wild Goose Chase | ---------------------------------- ~The Moogle Who Chases~ Whaaat!? Some blue thing came by and stole my stuff! You haven't seen anyone blue, have you? If you have any clues at all, you've got to tell me, kupo! +Present+ *30 PP You seen anyone blue, kupo!? 1) I've seen a dragoon dressed in blue! 2) I've seen a bounty hunter wearing blue! 3) I've seen a young noble wearing blue! ~Mr. Highwind~ (if answered "I've seen a dragoon dressed in blue!") I chased that dragoon in blue to Mount Ordeals, but once I got up there, there wasn't a soul around, kupo! At least, not dragoons--just zombies! And bombs! Scary ones, too, kupo! But they didn't have my stuff... +Present+ *30 PP ~Mr. Coral~ (if answered "I've seen a bounty hunter wearing blue!") I heard that a bounty hunter in blue was in Treno, So I thought I'd have a look... H-how can anybody be so strong, kupo!? What? +Present+ *30 PP ~The Moogle Who Still Chases~ Kupo kupo kupo! Again, there's a crook on the loose! And again, they took my stuff! This time, seems like it was some sort of animal... Kupo, have you got any clues, any at all? +Present+ *30 PP Who's the animal crook!? 1) Some sweet talking cat girl, I bet. 2) Some wolf-looking guy, I bet. 3) Some giant moogle, I bet. ~Nanaa Mihgo?~ (if answered "Some sweet talking cat girl, I bet.") I found a cute girl, but... I mean, kupo, she's just so adorable! There's no way someone like that could've stolen from me! In Dissidia, he is represented by a series of 8 Friend Cards, each bearing a unique Player Icon, each with a personalized Card Message from the moogle himself. The Ghosts are not particularly impressive; the levels range from 24 to 45. But there is one card per color ID, which makes this set useful for acquiring (through Battlegen) the colored gems and drops used in Item Shop Recipes. In addition, each have their colored Drop equipped as an accessory as well. Stiltzkin: 5 has a Cursed Blade equipped. -------------- | Stiltzkin: 1 | -------------- "Found something strange under the sea. Looks like a face, don't you think?" Can I fix it? (A): I empathize; in fact, such the finnicky perfectionist I am, sorting my Friend Cards was the primary reason i undertook the writing of this guide. Good news and bad news; the good, is that it's never too late to order your friend cards; the bad, is that you'll probably have to delete most if not all of them and start from scratch. Friend Cards are ordered by date recieved, oldest at the bottom, newest at the top. However, they are NOT ordered by acquisition. Confused? For whatever reason, all the game factors into the order is the PSP's internal date; you can get all but "Stiltzkin: 1," set the clock back before you ever started playing, and your new card will be at the very bottom of the list, as if earned before any others. Likewise, you could set the date to some time after your first card but before your last, and the game will still know where to place your new card based on the PSP date the others were acquired. This is a blessing concerning the more annoying Friend Cards, Stiltzkin: 6 & 7, as they cannot be gotten through Consecutive Days. Simply note the days which you acquire different cards, and when you forsee a new one coming, change the date as you see fit. The Exception to this seems to be Passwords Cards earned on the same day. If multiple passwords are input at once, they may be all out of sorts. Though if the Offline Lobby is visited, Cards will retain the seen order. (Q): Can I ensure my Friend Cards won't be deleted? (A): Most American gamers won't have this issue, as our Ad-hoc servers are very new. But you can have up to a maximum of 46 Friend Cards, and of those, you can "lock" 30 to be spared automatic purging. That is just enough for the 22 Password Cards and the 8 Stiltzkin Cards. (Q): I'm currently playing through the Duel Colleseum, and I want to check my mail, but I don't want to lose my progress in this mode. Is there anything I can do? (A): Verily. You can check your mail at any time you have access to the Customization Menu. "Calendar" can be accessed by pressing Square. However, as noted elsewhere in the Guide, as long as you played the game within that 24 hour period, your mail will still be waiting for you when you leave the Duel Colleseum, so do not feel pressured to check it in any hurry. (Q): Are any of the Mognet Letters missable? (A): No, none are missable. However, the "Beginner Letters" can only be gotten once each. All other letters can be gotten as often as you meet the conditions (Blue Mail) or as often as they randomly repeat (Yellow Mail). (Q): I need more Mog's Amulets! Is there any way to get them more frequently. (A): Firstly, I would advise you to make use of Ribbons and Super-Ribbons in keeping the Amulets from breaking at all. However, if you can't be bothered for that, you can alternatively try cheating your PSP's internal clock. By setting the date ahead 30+ days, you can earn a Mog's Amulet. Ensure your game has saved by exitting the menu, and simply repeat as many times as you'd like. I only urge you return your PSP to the correct date once you are through being a filthy cheater. -------------------- // VII) Contact Me // -------------------- If you can find some error in my guide, or have any kind of discrepency, please email me at: fanmattai (a) yahoo.com.
