Version ============ Version: 0.95 - 12/18/2009: Added a few missing bits to the Extra Song BGM data, as per data provided by some individuals, as well as a few other bits and corrections. Also added some info and comments regarding the DLC as it stands in the North American region with whatever information we currently know. Version: 0.91 - 10/7/2009: Some minor additions and fixes on missing info. Version: 0.90 - 10/5/2009: I've included almost everything that I think is necessary for this guide. So far, the only things missing are perhaps a few translations and minor corrections of certain things, as well as the effects of what the "lover" specialists do for most of the DLC characters. Other than that, nearly everything in this guide is as it should be, I think. As always, if anyone finds anything out of place, or just flat-out wrong, email me and I'll make the proper changes. ================== II.) Introduction ================== Makai Senki Disgaea 2/Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days is an enhanced port of the Playstation 2 game Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories. This is the second installment of the (as of now) Disgaea trilogy spanning the Playstation 2 and 3 game consoles. This particular port includes a huge number of improvements and additions over it's PS2 counter part, and even brings in a number of features that were only first introduced in Disgaea 3. Along with several new game-play mechanics, characters, and classes carried from Disgaea 3, we also get the Downloadable Content (or DLC) feature. This particular ability is present in a pretty fair number of current-generation games. It allows players to download new features, such as levels, modes, characters, and more. Disgaea 3 had a large number of characters who could be obtained, as well as new gameplay modes and levels, and bosses. Similarly, Disgaea 2 PSP also offers players a number of characters and other features to use throughout the game. Although there aren't as many DLC options as there were in D3, there are still a healthy number of new characters to use. This guide is being created based on the Japanese version of the game. That said, not every feature that is available in this version may be available in other versions outside of Japan. For instance, there were some features involving the two characters Kuro and Toro in the Japanese version of Disgaea 3. However, these features were removed from the North American version, due to various reasons. While it is not 100% certain that these features will be removed from Disgaea 2 PSP, based on past examples, they most likely will be. Another thing to note is that prices of individual characters may vary from region to region as well. Some characters were given away for free in the Japanese version, whereas they may be charged for in other regions. No one will know for sure until these characters are released in other regions. Strictly looking at the Japanese version, the DLC offers ten additional characters for your roster, seven additional weapons to collect, and a new set of NPCs that can appear in various locations. This guide will break down how to get these characters, all of the specific data relating to these new features, and everything else you could ever want to know. ----------------------------- A.) North American DLC Notes ----------------------------- On November 24th, 2009, seven of the ten DLC characters were made available on the North American PSN store. Unfortunately, within a week, they were all taken back down due to glitches, errors, and other problems that were being experienced by players. For the record, I do not have the North American version of Disgaea 2, nor do I plan on getting it so this guide will maintain it's current format. I will, however, add info that I have collected from various places and contacts who are playing the NA version. The seven characters initially released were; 1.) Pleinair 2.) Sapphire 3.) Almaz 4.) Ash 5.) Marona 6.) Pram 7.) Majin Hanako As mentioned, these characters were riddled with glitches and bugs that were not present in the Japanese version, which include (but are not necessarily limited to); -Characters having incorrect counter and other stat values -Marona having incorrect aptitudes -Glitched sound effects and voices -Skill AoE targets were incorrect -Ash's team attack/Magichange cut-in was wrong (show's female warrior's cut- in instead of Ash's) -Sapphire's S-Splash attack heals instead of causing damage -Cut-scenes that show characters you may not have bought yet -Etc. Due to these technical issues, NISA removed the characters from the PSN store. If you have already downloaded these characters, there are NO damaging issues regarding the bugs and glitches. Most players have found them to simply be a minor annoyance. NISA has stated that they are currently fixing the problems regarding and will re-release these seven sometime in the near future. If you have previously purchased any of these characters, plans are apparently being made to allow you to re-download the fixed characters without having to pay for them over again. Similarly, NISA is going to fix the price issue with Sapphire. Initially, they had stated that she would be free of charge due to the DLC error message that some individuals were receiving during the game. When Sapphire was placed into the PSN store, however, she was set to a cost of $1.99 like the rest of the characters. Expect her to be free once NISA gets the fixes loaded back up in the PSN store...Hopefully. With all of that said, three characters still stand as not being released; Dark Eclair, Gig, and Miabel. Unfortunately, NISA has indicated that they have no plans on releasing these three characters in the NA version of the game. There's been no concrete reason as to why, only that they cannot be released here due to "technical" reasons. There are some theories regarding some of the characters, but they're mostly just assumptions, theories, and suppositions. ============================= III.) Kuro and Toro Features ============================= Kuro and Toro are something of Playstation mascots in Japan. Although they're relatively unknown outside of the country, like anything ridiculously adorable and cute, they seem to pop up frequently there. They can be downloaded to do various things in Disgaea 2. They appear in various areas as NPCs, and also have some novelty weapons modeled after them. They appeared each month as "Special" downloads, along with each of the characters that could be downloaded for that month. Generally, the Kuro and Toro items and features need to be voted on in the Dark assembly before they are available to use. They will propose bills that need to be passed while using Adell as a senator. Thankfully, no matter what the other senators opinion of you is at, all Dark Assembly members will vote in favor of every Kuro and Toro feature. Seems even the most vile of demons have a weakness to adorable chibi cats. Here are the special packs, and what they do. -------------------------- A.) Kuro and Toro as NPCs -------------------------- Available: May 2009 (Japan) Special: After you download the Special pack, you'll need to head to the Dark Assembly. Choose the option of having Adell as a senator, and Kuro and Toro will both submit proposals as listed above. Once you pass both of their individual bills, they'll begin appearing in three different places; As Villagers in Holt - Here, you can talk to them as you would talk to any other village for bits of information. As judges in the Dark court - Normally when you visit the Dark Court, you are attended to by a prinny judge, and a panel of jury prinnies. However, with the Kuro and Toro bills passed, either of the two can appear as the judge. When they appear, you can count on getting a huge felony boost, because both Kuro and Toro will increase the amount of felonies you gain by 1.5x. Accumulating felonies is one of the more annoying tasks in Disgaea 2, so this is a must for shortening the amount of time it takes to gather felonies. Note that they do not appear every time you enter the court. It is random, and sometimes you will still get the normal Prinny Judge. As villagers in the Innocent Towns - Chances are pretty good that if you spend a lot of time in the item world, you've come across either Axel or a prinny from time to time who will play a game with you. If you find them a certain amount of times, they'll reward you with an item. On some occassions, you'll run into Kuro or Toro instead, who will also reward you with a Machange Hiden Hon/M-Change scroll if you find them ten times. -------------------------- B.) Kuro and Toro Weapons -------------------------- Along with Kuro and Toro appearing as NPCs in various areas, you can also download individual weapons of each of the seven types that are modeled after the two cats. Statistically, they're not overly impressive, but they're mostly novelty items that are fun to collect. Keep in mind that they also appear in the Dark Record Keeper's collection data, however, your data will not be "incomplete" if you don't or can't get these items. The space for them doesn't even exist until you actually download and activate them them. Also note that once you download one of the weapons, you need to pass the bill with Adell as a senator before you actually receive the item in your inventory. Note that all equipments are always legendary. This section will list each of the seven weapons, and their stats and various features. ..................................... Characters ================ Now here's the real meat that most people are going to care about. This section will detail the ten new characters, their abilities, stats, skills, aptitudes, and pretty much everything you could possibly ever want to know. As mentioned before, Disgaea 2 PSP offers up ten new characters available for DLC. These characters have been released two at a time (with the exception of the May batch, which had three characters). Initially looking through, it may seem like nearly all of the DLC characters were ones that were available as DLC in Disgaea 3. In reality, that's just not true. Only three of the ten characters were available as DLC in both Disgaea 3, and here in Disgaea 2. However, there are two Disgaea 3 characters available as DLC, and one of the secret characters from Disgaea 3 is available here as DLC too. That adds up to a total of six of the ten characters were available in some way in Disgaea 3, and also means that the remaining four characters are brand new, and exclusive to Disgaea 2 PSP. I've listed all possible stats that I think are important. If you're familiar with how the first two Disgaea games work, you'll know a little bit about the Weapon Mastery system. Humanoid characters all have a set proficiency with each of seven weapon-types, and these proficiencies are ranked by the following system from lowest to highest; E, D, C, B, A, and S. However, each one of those ranks has an invisible ranking within it, so even if two characters have, say "S" rank in swords, one character may gain 30 points per use, while the other may only gain 26. I've included not only the letter rank of each weapon for each humanoid, but also each numerical value within that rank. It is important to note that a DLC character, once downloaded to the PSP, does not immediately appear in your party's roster. First off, to purchase a item, you must access the PSN shop from the PSP's "desktop." Just select the PSN store icon from here. From there, you'll select the Disgaea 2 icon, and finally, you'll need to select the month from which you'd like to choose a DLC item from. Once you select that character, you'll confirm the payment details, and then the download will initiate. You'll get a progress bar detailing how far in completion the download is. Once the download is complete, the DLC item you have chosen will automatically install itself. You can then repeat the process for more items, or exit out of the PSN store. When you return to the game from doing the above, you'll need to talk to the Dimensional gatekeeper. Enter, and you should see a new area has unlocked. Enter it and you will get a scene where Adell, Rozalin, and Hanako summon the new character. If it is a character you payed money for, you will have to fight that character in battle. Once you defeat them, there will be another short scene, and the character will join. You should also note that any characters you do not pay for (Such as Pleinar and Miabel) you do not have to fight; they will join directly after a short scene. For the characters you do fight, the battlefield will always be Holt Village. Keep in mind that each DLC character will join you at level 100. One final note: A few DLC characters actually have scenes between each other once you have purchased one or the other. For instance, buying Almaz, and then Sapphire will result in a scene between the two and vice versa. Same thing for Ash and Marona. Dark Eclair and Prier also have a scene, should you happen to have already recruited Prier through the normal in-game methods. Once you start looking through the character specific attack skills, it will list the stat the skill is based off of. It will also detail the range with: () = Caster or Executing unit [] = Panels that fall in attack range {} = Empty spaces (if the attack is free-range. You can attack any panel in this range) ........................................ Characters Available: May 2009 (Japan): ........................................ Pleinair Almaz Sapphire PLEINAIR: Pleinair isn't really "native" to any game, but rather something of a mascot of Takehito Harada, who has been the main-stay character designer for most of Nippon Ichi's various SRPGs. She has popped up in various places as a cameo, such as being the Dark Assembly attendant in the original Disgaea, as well as appearing in various background scenes in Phantom Brave. She and her stuffed bunny, Usagi, also appeared as newscasters in Disgaea 2. Since then, she's been a playable character in Disgaea DS, Disgaea 3, and here again in Disgaea 2 PSP. |---------------| | Price: FREE | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Pleinair (Sex: F) | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Class | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Mascot | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Weapon Proficiency | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Fist | Sword | Spear | Bow | Gun | Axe | Staff | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | C | C | C | B | S | C | A | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | 10 | 14 | 14 | 18 | 26 | 12 | 20 | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Move | Jump | Counter | Throw | Exp. Her other statistical areas aren't overly impressive, but Pleinair is one of those units who can get in, attack, and get out quickly. Her high hit and dodge rates are amplified by her character special allowing her to be a nice hit- and-run unit. ALMAZ: Almaz first appeared in Disgaea 3 as one of the main story characters. Truth be told, having not played Disgaea 3, I am not super familiar with him or Sapphire. My understanding of this character is that he is something of a poor/unfortunate hero who really can't get a break, and Sapphire is his ideal woman/heroine. Counting the three Disgaea 3 characters that appear in D2 PSP, we get five total D3 characters, recreating nearly the entire main cast of that game. |-----------------| | Price: 200 Yen | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Almaz (Sex: M) | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Class | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Newly Married Hero | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Weapon Proficiency | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Fist | Sword | Spear | Bow | Gun | Axe | Staff | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | B | A | A | A | A | B | D | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | 16 | 24 | 24 | 20 | 20 | 16 | 7 | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Move | Jump | Counter | Throw | Exp. There's really nothing particularly bad about him at all, but there isn't anything particularly spectacular about him either. His aptitudes and stats, while not outstanding, are certainly better than average. He also has pretty nice weapon proficiencies all across the board, although he doesn't really stand out in any one area there, either. He's a nice addition to the group, but he won't win any awards for greatness. SAPPHIRE: Sapphire is the second Disgaea 3 character available, and the fifth character from that game that appears (in some form) in Disgaea 2 PSP. |-------------------------| | Price: (Japan) 200 Yen | | Price: (NA) FREE | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Sapphire (Sex: F) | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Class | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Newly Married Queen | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Weapon Proficiency | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Fist | Sword | Spear | Bow | Gun | Axe | Staff | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | C | B | B | A | A | A | A | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | 10 | 16 | 16 | 24 | 24 | 24 | 24 | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Move | Jump | Counter | Throw | Exp. Her highest weapon proficiency is only "A," but she's got four of them, and gains the highest amount of points that any unit can receive with an A rank in all four of those weapons. She also boasts what is (in my opinion) the best average aptitudes of all five Disgaea 3 characters that appear in Disgaea 2 PSP. Mao has two or three aptitudes that hit 130%, but all of his others are around 100%-110%. Her character special is ok, depending on how religiously you count on magic users, but otherwise Sapphire is a nice, well-rounded character. ......................................... Characters Available: June 2009 (Japan): ......................................... Gig Dark Eclair GIG: Gig first appeared in Soul Cradle/Soul Nomad and the World Eaters. He was some sort of wise-cracking God of destruction who had been sealed inside of a cursed sword. Gig was also available in Disgaea 3 as a DLC character, and although he is mostly the same, his attacks are a bit tweaked, and he has a different special ability than the ones found in D3. |-----------------| | Price: 200 Yen | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Gig (Sex: M) | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Class | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | God of Destruction | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Weapon Proficiency | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Fist | Sword | Spear | Bow | Gun | Axe | Staff | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | - | - | - | - | - | - | - | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | - | - | - | - | - | - | - | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Move | Jump | Counter | Throw | Exp. (ATK): [][][] [][][] [][][] {}{}(){}{} {}{}{} {} Magichange Skills: Sky Strike (ATK): [] [][][] [] () God's Murderous Laughter/Demon Blast (ATK): [] {} {} {} {}{}{}{}(){}{}{}{} {} {} {} {} Notes: Gig has a lot of really unique things associated with him. For one, of all the DLC characters, Gig is the ONLY monster-type. Next, he is probably the best choice for Magichange out of all monster types for a couple reasons: his Magichange-type is sword, which gives you access to what is probably the most versatile skillset in the entire game, and once you figure in all possible ways to increase Magichange turns, Gig will end up with a whopping seven turns that he can exist in battle as a Magichange weapon. This is incredible, considering the fact that most monsters only last between two and three turns. He also boasts some really nice aptitudes, especially his ATK. He also has a 3x3 area skill, which means that leveling him up on his own is incredibly easy. And finally, Gig has the "Fly" ability, similar to characters like Tink, and Winged Warriors. This means he is very useful in item world situations where several enemies or other obstacles are in your way. He can simply move right through those. DARK ECLAIR: Appeared in La Pucelle, alongside a number of characters including Prier (who also appears in Disgaea 2 PSP as a playable character.) Eclair was the Princess of Paprika and supposed to be queen. She has two distinct personalities, with her "dark" persona coming out in battle, even being its own entity here. |-----------------| | Price: 200 Yen | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Dark Eclair (Sex: F) | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Class | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Princess of Paprika | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Weapon Proficiency | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Fist | Sword | Spear | Bow | Gun | Axe | Staff | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | B | S | A | C | C | A | B | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | 15 | 26 | 20 | 10 | 10 | 24 | 14 | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Move | Jump | Counter | Throw | Exp. She and Ash both share a now game-highest 140% ATK aptitude among humanoids, and she too makes a great sword or axe user. Although it's useful in pretty rare situations, her character special makes almost no sense, and seems almost worthless. One of the shining spots of Dark Eclair is that she is one of the few units in all of the game that needs the least amount of experience to level up. This means you can pretty quickly go from "getting her" to "making her extremely powerful." ......................................... Characters Available: July 2009 (Japan): ......................................... Marona Ash MARONA: Marona first appeared alongside Ash in Phantom Brave. This game had a surprisingly deep story, and you couldn't help but feel bad for the little girl who was sort of lost in the flow of things, and who's only friends were ghosts, phantoms, and eventually, a crippled girl in a wheelchair. Marona also appeared as a secret character in Disgaea 3, as she is one of the few characters who really hasn't been cycled around as a usable character in many other Nippon Ichi games. |-----------------| | Price: 200 Yen | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Marona (Sex: F) | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Class | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Chroma | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Weapon Proficiency | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Fist | Sword | Spear | Bow | Gun | Axe | Staff | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | C | C | C | C | B | B | S | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | 10 | 12 | 12 | 12 | 16 | 16 | 26 | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Move | Jump | Counter | Throw | Exp. I mean come on, they're being beat out by a little girl. Her weapon masteries are a bit on the average side, but considering the fact that she's best off with staves, she has the highest aptitudes in the two areas that really matter to a staff-user (INT and RES). Her other aptitudes are pretty nice as well. She also has the added benefit of gaining additional stats when wielding a Magichanged monster as an equipped weapon. She is definitely a worthwhile character to use for her aptitudes and character special, should you happen to be a person who has a particular interest in magichange weapons. ASH: Ash appeared along with Marona in Phantom Brave. Ash was an unfortunate soul who lingered on in the world of Ivoire as a phantom in between the planes of the living and the dead. He swore to Marona's parents that he would protect her in this state, and she could call him forth whenever she needed aid. Interestingly, this is the first time Ash has ever appeared as a playable character in any game other than Phantom Brave, so it's worth getting him for the novelty and uniqueness alone...Although his power is anything but a novelty... |----------------| | Price: 200 Yen | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Ash (Sex: M) | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Class | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Phantom | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Weapon Proficiency | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Fist | Sword | Spear | Bow | Gun | Axe | Staff | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | B | S | A | B | B | A | C | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | 18 | 26 | 20 | 18 | 18 | 22 | 12 | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Move | Jump | Counter | Throw | Exp. (ATK): [] [][][] [] {} {}{}{}(){}{}{} {} {} {} Rising Dragon Slash (ATK): [] () Notes: Along with Dark Eclair, Ash stands at the top-of-the-mountain as the humanoid units with the highest ATK aptitudes, making him very much worth adding to your army. The rest of his aptitudes are a bit average, except for his nice HIT value, making Ash a monster of a sword or axe user. His special attack also allows for a lot of interesting possibilites, should you be of the type of person who relishes dealing top-tier damage. His character special might seem a bit vague at first, but it should be pointed out that it isn't his ATK stat that is doubled, nor is it his final damage. It is actually his base damage modifier that is doubled. So, instead of dealing 100% damage on the final turn, he deals 200% damage. Ash is a must-have addition to your front lines as a very able melee fighter. ........................................... Characters Available: August 2009 (Japan): ........................................... Pram Miabel PRAM: Pram is one of the main characters who appeared in Phantom Kingdom/Makai Kingdom. She was the supposed "Oracle" who foresaw the future, and warned Zetta that his netherworld would be destroyed. Truly, she is proof that Overlords can be back-stabbing liars, and decieve everyone around them to get what they want. |----------------| | Price: 200 Yen | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Pram (Sex: F) | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Class | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Oracle | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Weapon Proficiency | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Fist | Sword | Spear | Bow | Gun | Axe | Staff | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | D | C | C | A | B | C | S | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | 8 | 12 | 12 | 24 | 16 | 10 | 28 | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Move | Jump | Counter | Throw | Exp. The most obvious thing about her are those 150% aptitudes in both SP and INT, making her one of only four units in the entire game to have an aptitude at 150%, and the ONLY unit to have two aptitudes that high. Her skills are all based on INT, and ice-elemental, so it really makes sense to supplement that by teaching her ice spells, and putting her to work as an extremely able mage-type. Her character special is kind of neat, but if you're the type of person who is going to be trying for high or max-stat builds, it eventually loses its luster. MIABEL: Miabel is an adorable little girl from the soon-to-be released "Princess Antiphona's Hymn: Angel's Score OP, a strange game revolving around using song as ways of fighting the enemy. This game is actually connected to Nippon Ichi's early Marl Kingdom games. |---------------| | Price: FREE | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Miabel (Sex: F) | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Class | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Weapon Proficiency | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Fist | Sword | Spear | Bow | Gun | Axe | Staff | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | D | C | C | B | B | C | A | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | 8 | 10 | 14 | 18 | 16 | 10 | 24 | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Move | Jump | Counter | Throw | Exp. (ATK): [] [][][] [] () Giant Flan (ATK): [] [][][] {}[]{} {}{}{}{}{} {}{}{}(){}{}{} {}{}{}{}{} {}{}{} {} Love Sky (ATK): [] () Notes: Miabel is probably the most confounding character of all of the DLCs. Most of the characters have it pretty clear-cut as to what they are the "best" in. Either they have high INT aptitudes and stats, and are geared around magic, or they have high ATK aptitudes, and are geared around melee, or what have you, but Miabel just doesn't work that way. For one, her aptitudes really aren't terrible (although her physical stats aren't particularly impressive) with her highest being 130% RES. She has the highest weapon proficiency in the staff, leading one to believe that she is probably supposed to be a mage/healer hybrid, however her INT aptitude and stats don't particularly stand out. What's more, all of her character specials are based on ATK, which is her lowest statistical area. Just like any other character, you can definitely make her apt in whatever area you want, it's just that she takes a bit more finesse to do so. It is pretty clear that she is ultimately best as a support unit, considering her character special, and her RES is so high that you might do well to teach her the various tiers of the healing spells. ............................................. Characters Available: September 2009 (Japan) ............................................. HANAKO (Humanoid): Majin Hanako is the only character that appears as the September DLC. She is the "reward," so to speak, for having downloaded all of the other available DLC characters. This future version of child Hanako boasts very high stats and abilites all around. The short scene before you get her has all of the other DLC characters along with Adell and Rozalin trying to figure out how to deal with such a tremendously powerful person. You also get an obligatory scene where Tink appears and is pounded into the ground by Majin Hanako. That pervert just can't get a break. |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Price: FREE (Must have downloaded all other DLC characters) | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Hanako (Sex: F) | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Class | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Majin | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Weapon Proficiency | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Fist | Sword | Spear | Bow | Gun | Axe | Staff | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | A | C | C | A | S | C | A | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | 20 | 14 | 14 | 24 | 28 | 14 | 20 | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| | Move | Jump | Counter | Throw | Exp. For one, she is a humanoid version of the child, monster-form Hanako. However, before you compare her to Asagi (who is available in-game, and can switch between humanoid and monster form) You can have both monster and humanoid Hanako in your roster at the same time. Taking a look at her, she is quite impressive all across the board. High base stats, very high aptitudes (nothing below 110% even...) even relatively high weapon proficiencies across the board. She's all around everything you might expect from a powerful, future Hanako. Her character special is really nothing new, several other units do similar things, but since it affects both certain allies and any enemies surrounding her, she can affect a lot of people at once. ============================ V.) Character BGM Downloads ============================ One of the new additions to Dark Hero Days is the music shop. Through playing the game normally you'll notice a new Succubus NPC hanging out in Holt Village. She also appears in the item world and allows you to buy new songs, as well as set any BGM you buy or unlock as the Item World BGM. When you get new DLC characters, you'll also unlock new songs that can be used as well. These songs generally come from the origin game of that character. Keep in mind that you must find the Succubus in a mystery portal in the item world to buy each of these individual songs before you can use and/or listen to them. Once you do, they can also be set as your item world music, just like any other track. These songs cost one 1,000,000,000 HL each in the shop. Almaz: Extra BGM 1: Does Al Go, Too? Frequently Asked Questions =============================== This section is going to attempt to answer some of the questions that frequently come up on the various forums. I feel that it's nice to have some of these questions and answers all in one place for easy access to people looking for this information. Q: What is DLC? A: DLC (Or Downloadable Content), as mentioned a few times throughout this guide, is any additional content that can be bought and downloaded through the PSN (Playstation Network) store. Once purchased, these features can be used in-game, just like any other content that is already within the existing game. Q: How much is DLC? A: In Japan, it is 200 Yen per character. This equates to roughly $2 in USD, but if we go off of how DLC was handled in Disgaea 3, each character will probably be $1.99 once the DLC starts becoming available in the US. Q: Will any DLC be free? A: So far for the Japanese version, all Kuro and Toro content is free. Also, three characters have been available for free; Pleinair, Miabel, and Majin Hanako. (although the latter requires that you have all other DLC characters already unlocked. You just don't need to pay for her once you download her.) Q: What about in the US? I've heard Sapphire is supposed to be free. A: Sapphire is apparently being released for free in the US. She will be the first DLC character available, and is being offered free as an apology for.... Q: Why do I get an error message that my game can't access DLC? A: What this message means, from what I understand, is that the game searches for DLC on your PSP. It doesn't find any, so the game displays this error message. Again, do not worry as nothing bad will happen if you receive this message. NISA is aware of it, and in an apologetic move, they are offering the Sapphire DLC character for free. Once you have DLC on your PSP and loaded into your file, this message should no longer display. Q: My friends and I want the DLC, but we don't all want to have to pay for it. Can I download it, and share it with my friends for free? A: No. DLC doesn't work that way. I'm not entirely sure how it works, but when you download one of these files, it is somehow "anchored" to either your PSP system or the memory stick you are currently using. If you try to trasfer files that contain DLC characters to another PSP, any DLC content on those files will not work, and you will get the above error message. Q: I have the English version, but don't want to wait until the English DLC comes out. Can I use the Japanese DLC in the English version? A: No. DLC is region-specific. Q: When will DLC begin being released in the United States? A: NISA has stated that the first DLC character will be Sapphire (as stated) and is supposed to be released on November 25th, 2009. No word on whether or not she will be the only character available that day, or if others will be available as well, though. And once again, she will be free. Q: I'm trying to get into the PSN store, but I just get an error. Help! A: Any time you download something, you MUST have the most recent firmware update. There's no way around this. The PSN is really picky about this, so for people who like CFW are probably going to find this increasingly annoying. It's even annoying when you're using official firmware, because sometimes updates get released with a few days of eachother. I personally had to update my official firmware three times in the course of two days just to be able to get into the PSN store. This is most likely the case if you run into an error. Q: I don't want to have to/can't use a credit card to pay for DLC. Can I pay in some other way? A: Yes. The PSN has a system of cards you can buy that is preloaded with money. English region PSN cards are very easy to come by. You can simply go into a place like Gamestop, Gamecrazy, Toys R US, or various other retail stores and buy a PSN card. The amount you pay is the amount you get in PSN credit. So to buy a $20 PSN card, you'd obviously pay $20. For other regions, it is a little different. To buy and download Japanese DLC, for instance, you'd need a Japanese PSN account, and you'd need to buy Japanese PSN cards. These work in similar ways to the English version cards, it's just that they're not as available as you can probably guess. Some stores like ncsx.com sell the Japanese cards which are preloaded with Yen. You can also find Japanese cards on ebay pretty easily by looking around there. Keep in mind that you're going to pay extra for cards that are not of your region. There's no easy way for you to get a card from that region, so to get one, the seller needs to do the footwork of paying for, activating, and sending the cards out, so they usually charge additional fees. A 1000 yen card (which is the smallest that I've come across) is only about $10 worth of money, however, depending on the seller, one of these cards will probably cost you about $16-$20. Q: Is it possible to just hack/cheat/etc the characters into my part? A: The data for the DLC characters exists on the game UMD. However, this is only a SMALL part of their data. The characters are incomplete as they exist on disk, meaning that they cause the game to freeze, have incomplete animations, and generally have done nothing but cause problems for people who have tried to get them this way. Q: If Majin Hanako is the complete download, is anything else going to be available for DLC? A: As it stands, no one really knows. I would assume that "complete" download would mean this is the end, but according to sources and lists that were released before the game came out, there should be more characters. However, all of the characters that were found to exist on the disk as incomplete data have now all be released, so we won't know until the end of October if there is more DLC content or not. Q: About how much memory does each DLC item use? A: Each DLC item is roughly 6200 KB, so slightly over 6 megs for each individual character. ============= VII.) THANKS ============================================================================== To Shen54, for some missing bits of info on Pleinair. To Artscrafter for some of the missing music data and song prices. To Nippon Ichi for giving us these great games, and listening to the fans as far as what characters they wanted for DLC.
